I got this on dvd around 2012 and loved it way more that the original film - no Smurf Vampire. Years later when I got round to reading the book due to seeing Midnight Mass (which reminded me so much of Salem's Lot). I read the book. I could hear the 2004 narration voice over when I was reading it. It's not perfect and lacks the atmosphere of the original and has that "made for TV vibe about it". I feel it gets a lot of unnecessary hate lol. I didn't have an issue with some of the changes and felt it portray the town more corrupting and unlikeable. I agree the preist should of got a bigger role esp after reading the book as he had some great lines in it and his decent into losing his faith - which could of been explored more.
I watched this version of Salem's lot when it originally aired it wasn't great the late rutger hauer did a good job to me as Barlow totally agree about father Callahan i hope this gets another adaptation someday
I completely agree. The earlier version with David soul was much better than this one. Even though it did diverge from the book somewhat. I also like the older versions of it and the stand better then the newer versions.
Just picked up the IT mini series, this SL mini series, and The Shining mini series all together in a bundle in one of those baskets at Walmart. It was $7.50.
