Such an amazing video!! I love Halloween, fall, and Hocus Pocus so much!!! They’re all my favorite!!! Such a beautiful town with such beautiful buildings and so much history! Looks like so much fun my cheeks would be hurting from smiling so much!!!! 😍😍😍😍
As far as last words of the condemned are concerned, Sarah Good's are my favorite. She was found guilty and one of the ministers, Reverend Noyes, kept pressing her to confess. She yelled at him, "I'm no more a witch than you are a wizard, and if you take away my life, God will give you blood to drink!" Supposedly Noyes died 25 years later, choking on his own blood.
😱 Wow that is an incredibly Salem-esque story and so perfect. Poor people had to go through such horror, but we are so glad how the town has lived on in the years after. Honoring all of them is essential to Salem’s backbone.
@@TheTraventuresChannel Yes, what was at the heart of it all was that Salem village (now called Danvers) was a community divided against itself, and old grudges were repaid by the fatal cry of "witchcraft." Half of the village wanted their own meeting house and minister, the other half wanted to travel 30 miles to the big meeting house in Salem town. There is evidence that the Putnam family was behind it, coaxing the girls to call out anyone they didn't like. Under the law, if you were accused of witchcraft, even if you didn't admit to it, your property was confiscated as you were no longer considered Christian.
They barely even showed anything of the town... about 90% of the time the video is just on their faces with a couple of seconds of footage of the town every so often. You can skip to random parts of the video and the majority of the time, they're just focusing the camera on themselves. I gave up watching about half way through. :/
@@TheTraventuresChannel Yeah you're a travel vlog. You're supposed to make videos of the places you visit, not of yourselves. What's really a shame is that you created that amazing aerial footage of the town and you only included it in like 20 seconds of the entire video. :/
Thanks so much Stassia! Glad you found ours! Hopefully it gives you some ideas for your next visit :) We just put up the 3rd one and got to some REALLY cool spots in and around Salem.
Such a great video. We are going to Salem in a couple of weeks and I booked the merchant because of your recommendation. I think I’ve watched your Salem vlog like 3 times 😍
Thanks so much Arina! So exciting you're heading there! We are heading back October 19th-22nd and can't wait to make more vlogs! Thanks again and enjoy your trip!
Thank you so much! Our second video (up next week) will be all about the locations of Hocus Pocus so stay tuned for that one! Salem is so amazing especially during this time of year.
Your video was fabulous and today convinced us to book that trip to Salem this October 🎃 You must tell me where you purchased your top and skirt from?😍🙏🏻
LOL that’s so funny you say that because number 1 our favorite song is by Lana “once upon a dream” and Ann always identifies as Monica when she’s watching Friends 😂
I moved to Boston (for study purposes) two months ago and I am planning on going to Salem for Halloween. Amazing jobs, guys! Loved the presentation, the fog is everything! And the music, OMG! Thank you for your recommendations!
I JUST came across your channel while I was looking for Salem Mass reviews because I am planning a trip next year and realized you two are from Jersey just like me. Small world haha, great video as well!
My wife and I just came back from an east coast trip including the "Merchant" and Salem our stay was for one night came later in the day, went and caught as much as we could before closing, met many great people at a pub on Essex st. Long story short we woke up the following morning to find the fireplace insert had been pulled away from the wall 10 inches never heard a thing we notified the manager that morning, showed her the morning before photos of the room and the fireplace the following morning, also one ring on my wife's finger was removed and replaced along side of her wedding band on the same finger and her night stand was turned by half again we heard nothing. We will get back that way...couldn't be explained I couldn't have moved it without making alot of noise.
Ooooo spooky! Sounds like you guys had a GOOD night at the bar on Essex lol 😂 jk. Those who believe say the Merchant has a lot of paranormal activity 👻
@@TheTraventuresChannel Yes!! I still live in Salem I wouldn’t change it for anything!🥰 Happy to see people that want to come here, but it does get crazy around Halloween!!😅
Kokeshi, ugly mug, lobster shanty, Salem brewery, melt, flying saucer pizza and caramel are a must if you visit Salem. As far as witch museum goes I didn’t regret it but the witch dungeon, witch trials reenactment and other tours I found to be better but the end of tour and gift shop was more interesting. I found find an tour that interests you and go many times other tours will have same info with a different perspective. And for all who visit take trolley at least once there are many little gems of shops and eateries through Salem and trolley covers a large area as well as history of Salem plus many don’t know one ticket on trolley gets as many on off trips throughout the day of the ticket; just gotta show your ticket.
Wow you sure do know you stuff because this advice is spot on! We tried to get to Kokeshi but got there too late unfortunately. Looks great though! Thanks for the extra info!
@@TheTraventuresChannel oh wow, will you be doing another vlog? I'd love to see a Boston vlog if you ever go as hoping to visit Boston again when I visit Salam ✨🤗😍
Thank you sm for this info! Super helpful. Cant wait to go in Oct! Random question- Did you guys see any mediums or psychics on your trip? Im looking to book something along the lines of that. Also, how was parking?
You’re welcome Nicole! Glad we could help! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see a psychic, but know that there are PLENTY around all with great reputations among those who go! Parking is a breeze too. We are guessing it’s much harder in Oct bc of the crowds, but once you find a spot you’ll be walking everywhere!
Lace! Good luck we are so happy you have such passion for Salem! It’s the best Halloween town in America! These two comments will boost your chances :)
In 1692, the accused victim who was executed by crushing (PRESSING) with heavy stones was an 81 yr old man named Giles Corey. His wife Martha Corey, 72yrs old was executed by hanging.
Thanks Rachael! Glad you liked it! No, the hotel didn’t require a test or anything. Booked online and were given instructions to follow in a email! Very straight forward
Actually, this house/hotel was built in the 1700's, AFTER the 1600's witch trials, which were long over. George Corwin's house was demolished, and in the 1700's, this Merchant house/hotel was built on the footprint of George Corwin's house. Some of the crumbled house foundations of George's house, can be seen outside of this Merchant hotel. It's too bad someone told you that the hotel you stayed in was THE house George Corwin lived in. When George died, yes, his house was still standing, but long after his death, his house was torn down and this Merchant house was built, which is now a hotel.
Wow great to know! Yea we were told it was his house just redone. I bet there are a lot of “facts” coursing through the town with how popular it’s become. Thanks for the correction Kelly!
Great question! The best way to get from Boston to Salem is by train which takes 30 min and costs less then $10. Alternatively, you can line 450 bus, which costs no more than $5 and takes 51 min.
Thanks Brandi! For the town itself a rental isn’t really needed you get a good walk in every day exploring, but if you are trying to see the Hocus Pocus locations it’s nice to have a car. Salem also has its own taxi service as well they are painted lime green with a witch on the side 🎃
Great question! Yes, George Corwin was his nephew! He also had a son George to make it more confusing lol. But Jon’s son went to Harvard and became minister at the First Church in Salem.
Interesting video/tour, thanks. On another note this city and season makes me realize how real the spiritual war of souls is. As humans we are fascinated by the darkness naturally because of our sin nature. While darkness may have an appeal, the light is far better :). John 3:16; John 8:32; Ephesians 5:11 God bless
That bell is fake. The real bell is in the museum as some local youths tried to steal it. You’re welcome. (A Brit who knows about history, even your own). 😂
@@TheTraventuresChannel There's a tour guide who always taps the bell and it makes a plastic sound, then tells you the story behind it. I don't think they wanted to advertise the fact in the description but it's really interesting all the same. Darn these thieves stealing historical stuff!
