When selling "intent matters more than technique".
This is a quote from the master of intent himself, James Muir, in this short video discussion.
Do you agree with James? If so how do you get your mindset right
Some of the messages James shared with me include:
- First impressions are vital and people judge intent in those first few seconds when we meet a prospect
- Your intent to help the customer get what they want is more important than demonstrating your capability or your product
- If the customer does not think you their best intentions in mind the deal is off
- Science shows that we transmit our intentions all the time in three ways - via mirror neurons, micro expressions and paralanguage. And none of us are good enough actors to transmit good intent if we don't have it.
- One of James clients calls it 'commission breath'. That's what occurs when the primary intent of the salesperson is to get money from the client. Customers see it (or feel it) a mile away.
