I personally know Hindus who have changed the name of their wives after marriage - it's a custom among many communities - .I know this woman 35 working in govt - was relieved on transfer from her duty with her maiden name - And at her new place of posting her lawyer husband insisted that she would join with the name her sasural had given - it was explained to him that some legal formalities are to be completed before the first name is to be changed
