Am glad you both were on the same page and actually talked about what may have happened, most hair stylists are not open to such conversations even when it's only meant to troubleshoot.
That’s it you want all the dead ends off & no more then that. Not al hair is growing at the same rate due to being in a different phase. It also allows you to look at the cuticle in a not swollen state.
@@NanaNaima1curly cuts are pretty to me but I can definitely see how this would be a problem if you wear your hair straightened or blown out on occasion the slipends will be uneven .
That happened to me. It's one of the things I attributed to the issues I saw while trying NONBs. I stopped clarifying when my hair wasn't dirty like that and that helped.
She said “Morale of the story is, not using the appropriate shampoo for your hair, can be detrimental”. I had to turn on the captions to understand lol. I hope this helps
If you felt like your hair could have been so damaged to the point of big chopping just by using a clarifying shampoo then there might be something internally wrong with your hair. I’m not sure I get what this video is saying
In honestly don't get what the issue is either. Using a clarifying shampoo can't damage your hair 😂. It sound like she had more of a protein problem than anytbkng if her hair was stretched
@@maryakioyame3296a clarifying shampoo can strip the hair and leave the cuticle raised which soubds like what happened since the gel didnt glide thru her hair like usual.
@@nappyboi312 But - the clarifying shampoo was followed by a conditioner which, by replenishing moisture and lowering ph, smooths down the cuticle. It doesn’t make sense to conclude that her issue was a lifted cuticle as a result of the clarifying wash. I agree with other commenters in concluding that her video ultimately taught, explained, detailed - nothing. Her hair was clarified and conditioned at a salon, the texture felt unusually unhealthy, she talked with the stylist. End. No surprise though. The vast majority of content contains either clueless, zero-research, misinformation/incorrect nonsense OR, like this video, is void of sensible, meaningful, entertaining or logical message at all. Equally pitiful is viewer reaction and commentary, some responding with praise, the rest summarizing the video, giving equally false, inert and nonsense “explanations” as the content itself shared.
I have similar hair...very dry and high porosity I do not shampoo twice in one week. That's why my salon visits are pre-planned. My hair does not like deviation from routine. Internally not so much because I take all my vitamins and drink 3 litres of fluid every day. I know if I use products incorrectly my hair will not cooperate. Some people can slap anything on their hair and it will grow and be smooth and not break off...I have never been one of those people.
Use Redken’s moisture conditioner and Aussie Moist detangler. Your hair is dehydrated. Use steamer once per month when conditioning. Condition with heat cap or dryer. Oil your edges with castor oil and honey. Mix another oil for your scalp- olive oil, black seed oil, tea tree drops, rosemary oil drops, avocado oil, pumpkin seed oil and add MSM- sulfur in crystal form…. I sent this because my hair was like yours. Do twist out but NO tightness in scalp or loose cornrows You can take the scalp oil and mix into a hair grease and apply to scalp.
I only use Aloe & Ambunu to wash my hair because it doesn't strip my hair. I only use ALL Natural products, so I don't have build 👆🏿 issues. I clarify by using a little baking soda mixed with my aloe = very gentle & alkaline 😊. Thanks for sharing......
I can’t even understand all the natural haircare terms. I do know what my hair feels like when it’s dry and everything but I don’t know enough to know if something “went wrong”…probably bc I don’t style my hair often. I found a stylist that uses that Twelve 12 line and I just let her tell me what needs to be done. So far, so good. 👍🏾
if you’re hair felt squeaky clean it means the shampoo you’re using at home isn’t working. regardless if you shampooed 2 days ago it’s very possible that your hair wasn’t clean. this stylist did a great job on your cut and style but no damage was actually done here.
I am not sure I understand where you are coming from. My hair wouldn’t feel squeaky clean at home since I didn’t clarify it. That doesn’t mean that shampoo isn’t working?
Jenn you do such a great job on your hair why don't you just do your own? Just go for trim. I think she tried to much, I don't clarify anymore. No oils or butters, why clarify?????? I do my own hair,
@@jeanturner5398 I can do my own hair but sometimes I do NOT want to. I just want to lean back, close my eyes, RELAX, and let someone else massage my scalp.
@JennJackson I Love your show, I love your hair. I love watching you care for your 4C hair. I've had so many hair professionals damage and tear out my hair. I fig why pay for that crap. I'll take care of my own, if it's gonna be damaged , let me be the one who do it, then I can't blame no one but myself.
Maybe I’m am an oddball, but my hair has felt squeaky clean my entire waking life. Wash once…it’s squeaky. Wash three times…super squeaky. So idk about that.
I don’t use clarifying shampoo unless I’ve been in a chlorinated pool. If you just washed your hair 2 days before, why would you need shampoo at all? Just co-wash.
It depends on your hair and scalp and the type of products. High porosity sometimes once a month but in the winter months I clarify once in 3 months becuz it's so cold and stripping. In the summer once a month is good for me. Low porosity maybe twice a month but again based off of scalp and product buildup.
Stop shampooing. Shampooing was drying and damaging my hair so bad and making it break in spots. I had to start using just a good deep conditioner. Let it sit for an hour in a shower cap. And use a good leave in conditioner.
Intuition told me that the clarifying was a mistake as soon as she mentioned it. Clarifying is one of those things that "sounds" healthy but really dries out 4Cs. Your hair doesn't need it. Ever.
What’s the exact name of the treatment you got done by you’re stylist? A wash and go or something? Im trying to find a stylist to get the same treatment done. Thanks!
I did say on the last video tjat ir wasmt the conditioner. NO conditioner would have your hair feeling that way. I dont think she used a moisturizing shampoo, just a clarifying one.
Your hair looked dry and damaged when you sat in the chair. Sorry but telling the truth. You probably need to needed a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner instead of a stripping product like clarifying shampoo.
We honestly throw the “damage” word around way too loosely. Hair can’t go from healthy in one video, “dry and damaged” at the beginning of another day and end up fine after the appt. Is it the style that you may not like/approve of?
@JennJackson The cut is in point, but your hair has looked softer and much more moisturized than this - Even when it was color treated. Could it be the product used? Sometimes using a mousse can stiffen and make your hair appear dry depending on the ingredients. I always layer leave-in conditioner and moisturizing gel with mousse. But who cares what we all think. You look beautiful as always.😊
@@Melissa19f no I think it’s one of the effect of clarifying when it didn’t need it. The product she used are the same as usual (base gel and a topper - no mousse).
You know what, I will. Her attitude afterwards was everything. She was open to the conversation, didn’t make it seem like I was delusional AND even adjusted her products moving forward with her other clients.
Exactly what I'm doing. I started doing wash n go this winter to give more hydration & moisture during the cold/drying season. I do a water wash at least 4 days a week & I don't think I'll ever stop. My coils are so much more hydrated & healthy. Plus the water only washes feel so good = very therapeutic. Edit: I seal with fine oil = 💦 + Fine oil seal = Beautiful, luscious Wash n go with no build 👆🏿 issues...
Stupid drama i cant invest my brain or emotion for. Big chop over a shampoo or conditioning.....stupid drama. I cant....i cant.....i cant....Naturals are so extra.
