Salt Fork is attractive to the golf crowd. I love their trails. My husband and I took a moon lit hike and came across an old cemetery. It had people buried there from the civil war era. Some of the grave stones were before that but was too worn to read in the moonlight. One summer day swimming in their lake I spotted a five year old who was drowning near my husbands feet. I had to scream at my husband to reach down and pick him up. I was too far away, and I feared he'd be dead by the time I could reach him. My husband hesitated, but at my scream "PICK HIM UP!" my husband finally did grab him. The poor little boy grabbed onto him for his life. He was part of a large family reunion, and everybody thought somebody else was watching him. He coughed and sputtered so much water I about fainted with relief. Sometimes you are at the right place at the right time.

Lived in NE Ohio for 4 years and I liked it. Lots of campgrounds to go to...Put-n-Bay, breweries in Cleveland..fun stuff and great people. Born and raised in South Florida and would tell everyone...why come here? Nothing but tourists, crowded beach and it is hot......people looked at me like I was stupid. Guess where you live you get board with it and the the grass is greener elsewhere. Moved to Foothills in NC...always wanted to live in NC....now I am bored with it after 6 years. I think I need to full time and I can go where I please!!! Great video...Been to South Fork a couple of times...great in the fall. Keep up the excellent work on the videos!

You know we are just a bunch of no account voyers living vicariously thru the likes of you... Keep 'em coming!!! Seriously - Thanks! Because of you and folks like you, we have our camper back on the road. It's been a long summer. Thankfully, we are in Virginia, and not Vermont - or we would be put up for the winter. We did our first family outing in a decade last weekend. Left the electronix at home and everything. Thanks for the inspiration. BTW - love that fold up love seat.

+Get Down The Road wow, that is awesome! So glad we could help inspire you to get back in your camper, and enjoy the great outdoors. There's nothing else we'd rather be doing, honestly. The camp loveseat is our favorite! There's a link to some of the rv/ camping items we like and use in the videos description if you want to cheek it out. Stay tuned for more videos!

We love the smokies. but hate the tourist areas. We usually stay in townsend. Last year we took the jeep and the Harley and tent camped. took the Harley on some great winding roads and went really nowhere in particular just trying to get lost road the tail of the dragon too. No roof and no doors on the jeep going through cades cove with bears everywhere was pretty cool too.. scary but cool.. so much to do and see there beyond Gatlinburg and pigeon forge.
@WanderingWagners

+Jeff Phalen someone else suggested Townsend (after the fact) as well and that does look like a much better option! We're glad we went to Gatlinburg because now we know first hand it's not our style. Thanks for the tip!

Salt Fork is probably my favorite of all the Ohio State Parks we've camped in. Surprisingly quiet for the amount of people camping there. Since we are only about two hours away from it, we go there for weekend trips (at least we did, when I could still tent camp). We also had to smirk when you mentioned the depression setting in when you re-enter Ohio :) We feel the same way. Ironically, we just got back from a trip to the Smokies. We rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge and tried our best to avoid the actual town due to all the the tourist traps. We spent a whole day driving the National Park and loved every second of it. We made it as far as Cherokee NC, and the clouds opened up and we had to put the top up on the Jeep, but it was still a great day. As soon as we got back over the mountains into TN again, the sun came out and it was beautiful. Gatlinburg was a nice little town, but yeah, too many tourists. It felt like we were driving through Cedar Point. :)

I am originally from Canton, although I have lived in Raleigh for almost 40 years, and my mother is in Navarre. This park is an hour south of Navarre and if I buy an RV, this might be a good location for a night or two. In the past I have stayed in Uhrichsville in a hotel, but when I retire I want to go RVing for as long as I can. I used to travel all the time for work and I loved it. I just don't love crowds.
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 7 лет назад
+ncplantdoctor rv travel is much more enjoyable (to us), vs flights ands hotels and rental cars etc. We get to see the county and enjoy things you can't on a flight. If you don't like crowds, our channel sounds perfect for you to follow. We aren't big on crowds, and prefer quiet relaxation.

Hi guys! Its nice to follow fellow Ohioans in your RV adventures. I enjoy your videos. I, too, love Salt Fork. If you like boondocking in Ohio, you gotta love the AEP lands down in Morgan County. AEP maintains these lands like a state campground but its all free. Have you checked them out? Beautiful area full of hills. Its as good as Ohio can get.

I love watching you guys and seeing some of your decisions that are taking you toward full time RV life. We're on our way, you are definitely closer than we are. We agree on the date! We cannot set a date. We're just doing everything, at our pace, moving towards that life. We're slowly downsizing, getting rid of stuff; selling, charity, trash, etc. Paying off debt too. We also know that the RV we have now isn't our full time RV. It's our weekend RV. We'll be changing to a 5th Wheel (probably) for full time life. I am also reassured by how many RVs you've had. I just know we'll go through several for the rest of our lives. We have a Ram 2500, so I know there are differences from your 3500. But, I'm confident our truck will pull any RV we want. Keep sharing, please!!
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 7 лет назад
+Wendy Whitney thanks for watching! Something to keep in mind is payload capacity on a 2500 towing a 5th wheel (depending on the size) can be close. We're getting closer on making a decision regarding our full time rv. Trying to sell the semi is our biggest hangup right now. Once that goes we will be moving at a faster pace. We're hoping for 2018 to be full time, but only time will tell!

I live in Ohio and have always wanted to go to Salt Fork. I want to go for a few days with a tent, but frankly, don't want to be surrounded by a ton of people. NOT that I don't want anyone around, but I'd like a bit more of a secluded spot. Is this the park for that or should I look elsewhere? Thanks for any advice.
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 5 лет назад
Salt fork is a secluded park in itself, with great hiking trails but like any state park you'll have neighbors and sites close to you. If you want more seclusion, visit during the week instead of the weekends. We do recommend this park and enjoyed our stay.

Love saltfork state park. Been going every year since was born 23 years ago. It’s one place in Ohio that’s my happy place to camp. I recommend Section F 68-72 or F 45-50 for next time if you make a reservation. Very nice sites.

It’s way better than Hocking Hills but no one goes there . It’s 20,000 acres and surrounded by rural farm land outside the 20,000 acres and bigger hills ...

We really loved this park and hope big it was. The hiking we did was great! We were surprised at how many trails there were. Hocking hills is a nice place but their hiking is a different kind. Mohican hiking is still probably our favorite in Ohio State parks.

Nope! I don't think you were overly negative on Gatlinburg, just honest. We are a little further north than you are and are currently on our last camping weekend of the season. It's very cool (not freezing...yet, low 40's to upper 30's tonight) on and off rain, kinda windy. All in all typical end of October weather. We have been blessed with an unusually warm fall. Long indian summer. But now it's time to winterize and put the toys away until next season. Look forward to camping vicariously through you into November! Safe travels!

It is getting colder here in Oklahoma, actually supposed to get down to 28 tonight...bbbrrrr! Anyway, when you do winterize your rig...could you film it so I can see exactly what you do to it and how you keep your rig from freezing up! I know it gets cold in Ohio in the winter! Thanks

Great video and editing job. You guys have a passion for what you are doing and it shows. Our prayers are that you sell your assets and get to live your dream soon. In your video we noticed you started from the boonedock at Ripley, WV Walmart. We live just of I-77 about 20 miles south of there so we instantly recognized it. That same weekend of Oct. 6-9 we traveled to Evergreen RV Park to meet up with some fellow WV RVers for the annual fish fry. You can see that slide show on our FB page "RV Life With Team Ferrell". We are pleased you posted the video on Salt Lake as we've driven by it multiple times on I-77 and wondered what it was like. We hope to visit it and Seneca Lake in the future. Ohio has some great campgrounds and it's not a bad trip from Charleston. We agree that we like to visit new places but if the opportunity presents, we don't mind returning to a favorite spot. We too are sad to see the leaves fall and winter come but we're already making reservations for 2018. If you're ever back along I-77 near Charleston again, feel free to look us up via FB for anything or just a visit. Enjoy!

For the record the page is under "RV Life With Team Ferrell" We're on FB as well. We own a sport media network (RSNsports.com) and use our MH for both business and pleasure. This past weekend we camped out on a high school parking lot after our show in Huntington, WV at the state XC meet. This weekend we'll roll into Parkersburg for Friday night football coverage then turn around and head south to Beckley the following morning for state soccer championships. If the weather is decent we'll camp somewhere on Veteran's weekend. All this and we work day jobs like you guys. Hopefully we'll see you down the road.

Different people work better in different ways. Some need a date to motivate them, others can make progress without a set schedule. The bigger ticket items are a consideration (maybe deterrent) in many cases. Go at your own pace. This process (while exciting) - is also stressful - and not everyone has the same timeline/path. My wife and I are on the same journey to full-time living. But - "Don't let your dreams be dreams" - Jack Johnson.

By the sound of it you guys like to travel around pretty much the way we do, 2 or 3 nights is enough and time to move on. I guess that makes us black sheep as well so you're not alone. lol

+Ron S sometimes our non- planning nature bites us. We didn't know we were going to the Smoky mountains until the day we arrived and decided to give it a try. Had we known it was that busy in October, we would have just passed through. Lesson learned
@rons1286
@rons1286 7 лет назад
Wandering Wagners The smokies are vast. We enjoyed just going to see what we could find but were prepared to boondock if we had to. We camped and explored the smokies for 3 months straight back in 2007 and again in 2015 spending a week at a time in one location. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are for tourist due mostly to Dollywood. I think you would enjoy the rest of the smokies. Tons of history there.

Mike and Lynn - You should consider starting an RV driving school and maybe RV inspection / repair - add in per wheel weighing - might be a lucrative business on the road. You guys have some great skills that you can take mobile.
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 7 лет назад

You might consider associating with RV Rally's - offer discounts to large RV Rally's - for driving - inspections, - weighing. Just some thoughts. You guys just don't seem motivated. And that's ok if that's what you want. Many people ARE motivated. Setting a date then gets you off your butt and forces you to do things. It is very easy to procrastinate. It is very hard to go out and actually do something, in your example , sell a semi truck. Analysis paralysis is something I also call it. I am full time and honestly it is the best thing I could have ever done with my life. I am sitting here in FL enjoying 80 degree temps planning where I am headed in the spring...
@WanderingWagners
@WanderingWagners 7 лет назад
+Joe the Computerguy we are motivated. But we are realistic is knowing it could take months upon months to see a semi, as we've done it multiple times. It's not like selling a car or even a house. Everything else we're doing is happening behind the scenes for now, so we cam understand how you think we're not motivated. Everything is happening, not like we're twiddling our thumbs waiting for 1 thing before doing the next. We've even discussed showing more, so this skewed perception wouldn't exist.

This setting a date; like the old boy cops picked up for vagrancy. Took him to judge, judge say, "Son, where do you work?" Boy say, "Eh, here and there." Judge say, "When do you work?" Boy say, "Eh, now and then." Judge say, "What do you do?" Boy say, "Eh, this and that." Judge say, "Take'im away, lock'im up." Boy say, "Wait a minute judge, when am I gonna get outta here?"
