Keep your water balanced and shock regularly. I think salt is fine but the salt cell/generator is just another piece of equipment to maintain and replace just to make chlorine at home. If you stop using it you can still keep low levels of chlorine by using an enzyme or a nature 2/frog @ease system.
salt levels in a pool or hot tub are low about the salinity of a human tear there are many videos that show multi decade old salt pools and they are fine. I have a saltwater pool the concrete is fine the hardware is fine the chlorine levels are lower and more effective. we can have it be far less toxic to swim in and its fine also salt does not crack concrete, salt water aka brine that gets too diluted and gets into the pores of the concrete and then freeze create hydrostatic pressure and pop the concrete, standing water kills sidewalks not salt, I have a slat bay as a snow contractor loaded with salt year round its been fine over a decade some exposed metal definitely rust but the concretes fine, and the trade off for lower chemicals is worth it hands down plus the got tub is all plastic and I believe titanium heater all corrosion proof anyways
Love your info but found you AFTER buying a Saltwater Hot Tub. You are the first one I have ever heard say - NO to Salt water tub. To late for me now I have it - any suggestion on how to minimize the damage to concrete and other.
I transformed my hot tub into a salt system and I passed from using 14 different super-expensive chemicals, to using only salt and ph adjuster. I don't know what he's talking about, haven't seen any damage so far. Enjoy hot tubing the natural way.
I almost ran down this rabbit hole myself. I was looking at the hot springs Envoy with salt water system. Ended up changing brands and my mind against saltwater altogether.
Dodged a bullet on so many levels, the best thing about that brand is the insanely good marketing, advertising, branding and sales training that makes this mid end spa full of low-end proprietary parts seem like a high-end tub.
Saltwater hot tubs are great you made a bad choice from bad info. guys like this have an agenda $$$$$$$$$. my tub feels and looks great and almost maintenance free! My pavers haven't been effected by the salt. I live in NY I throw tons of salt everywhere in the winter months for 40 years salt never effected my pavers!!!!
