Saltash is a town located beside the River Tamar in South-East Cornwall. It is located right on the Cornish border, hence it being known as 'The Gateway to Cornwall' and the Tamar Bridge and Royal Albert Bridge (the two bridges linking Cornwall to Plymouth) can both be found at the town.
Saltash is a typical UK town with an also very typical UK high street. The towns shops are set mainly on one street, Fore Street (which I walk down at the end of the video), which contains many big retailers. Lower down is Lower Fore Street, which slopes down towards the Tamar, however this street is mainly residential.
At the waterfront, the very end of Cornwall, there is a park area, with a path where you can walk along.
In 2011, the towns population was 16,184. There is a train station in the town, however this isn't a large or busy train station, as well as a number of bus services operating in the town, which also cross the border in to Plymouth.
Saltash is also the name of the parish, and there are two churches in the town: SS. Nicholas & Faith Church and St Stephen Church. The parish of Saltash is bordered by the parishes of Antony, Sheviock, Landrake with St Erney, Botusfleming, Landulph, and, across the River Tamar, Plymouth.
