I served under the dynamic leadership of Gen Manekshaw when he was Army Chief, we faught 1971 war against East Pakistan and won it. I proudly say that I served under Gen Yashpal Singh Mor in First Guards. Gen Mor was our role model and a great military leader. We are always proud of him. JAI HIND 🙏 JAI GARUD 🙏 KHUSHKI WUH TARRI 🙏
Dear Major DN Das, thanks for your service to the nation in the 1971 war, it was an honor to serve alongside you in the unit. Your contribution to the unit was substantial in all aspects, especially leadership. Jai Hind, Jai Garud and loud KWT.
I belong to that generation when the American pirate, sorry, the president and his lanky used the language of street urchin about our PM. And they were given fitting slap by Sam Maneckshaw in 1971. But they are ever shameless cowboy.
Saw the first show of Sam Bahadur on the second day. Honestly, it was an excellent movie. But once again honestly, no movie can do justice to the king size life and style of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Today is 3rd December 2023. 52 years since the 1971 war was won for us under the able leadership of Sam Manekshaw. The victory divided East and West Pakistan. East Pakistan became Bangladesh. It was a watershed moment in the History of India. 93,000 fully armed Pak soldiers surrendered to the Indian Army in Dacca. There is no equivalent surrender of any Army before another in the entire world History. An unbroken record that may never be broken. Cheers to Sam Bahadur and Indian forces.
“ This is all India Radio. The news read by’ Melvin Demello, ‘ Surujeet Sen, or ‘juotica Ratnam ‘ . उस समय कम समझ रखते हुए भी, सुनने में मज़ा आता था । “ Salute to Field Marshal, Sem Sir !!
Rehan Fazal's eloquence is so captivating that even in the absence of visuals, his spoken words alone are enough to leave a lasting impression. His remarkable oratory skills make the listening experience truly exceptional.
Another remarkable aspect of Rehan Fazal is how well-prepared he was for the talk, just shows his commitment to delivering a thoroughly informed and compelling presentation to the audience. Something that youngsters could imbibe. Jai Hind!

Thank you so much for such positive feedback. My attempt on this channel is to create historical interviews which will be treasure for the future generations as well. Indeed, he was not honored by the military in his death. I was posted in Staff College and the same day moved out for the Higher Command course, heard his passing away while driving done to Hyderabad. Thanks once again and Jai Hind
It was really a good nostalgia to know the unique qualities of humour, wit and mannerisms of India's Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw popularly known as Sam Bahadur.👍👌❤️🇮🇳
The Aura of Gen. Sam was unimaginable. My father was also the part of 1971 war. He was actually a part of 40 mountainbrigade deployed in China.. Jai Hind 🇮🇳🎖
Congratulations you two for this arrangement of Historical Importance. Thanks to Rehan Fazal of BBC World for telling Many unknown informations . Thanks to Maj Gen Yash Mor. But my curiosity how old you were in 1971 ? As a participant of Bangladesh Liberation War I went back the world of my memories of that time ! Thanks a lot to you.
I take this opportunity to thank Maj Gen Yash Mor for doing this podcast. It is a boon for youngsters like me who can learn a lot and at the same time emulate the qualities of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in our lives.
It would have been befitting to the stature of Sam Bhadur, if the Field Marshal was allowed to rest in eternal peace, and no movie or even A documentary was even attempted. Such legends are very rare, and can never be recreated for posterity. A true soldier and an unparalleled leader, was left to die unsung by then dispensations. Even the army chose to remain a silent and distant spectator at his funeral. He dedicated his life in service of the nation without any expectations. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Jai Hind
Gen Sam Bahadur was a great son of Bharat Mata. He joined the Hindu College Amritsar a few times. His photo graphed displayed in the reception room at Hindu College. A big medicine shop of his family is still in Hall Bazar Amritsar. Salute to such brave General.
After all this bravery dedication and loyalty He was deprived of army pension and only happened after Abdul Kalam intervened. Also no ministers or any army chiefs gave respect to his funeral. That’s a very sad treatment of such high calibre personal. Shame on India.
Question of Pension doesn't arise as a Field Marshal never retires, his salary for 34 years was with held and was not Paid till 2007 until our the then President Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam visited at his Wellington Hospital,Madras and intervened and got released the entire salary amounting to 1.16 crores.
It is tragic to observe that at time of his death, the powers that be of those times allowed him to go unwept, unsung and unhonoured. He deserved national honour during his last journey.but he was allowed to go in a thankless manner.how thankless it is to have a thankless child in reverse order(king lear drama of william shakespeare
