Charles Branton. So glad I came thru in his era. The best , I don't know one who could have topped him , maybe close but not the best. Spirit of Sam live for ever.
He just had one of the most smoothest and greatest voices ever! Can always listen to Sam Cooke a real legend and his songs are just so cool and timeless. I wasn't born when Sam was around and wonder what he would have offered to the world of Soul and popular music if his life wasn't cut so tragically short! R.I.P Sam
Roosevelt Davis yed Roosevelt , he was, oh my goodness, still sent chills thru me .R.I.Paradise Sam , we will never ever forget you. Your music never grow old .
Sam Cooke was simply the best . they took him out early to keep him from being named ,, the greatest ,, but, Sam Cooke will forever be ,,the greatest ,, .
Sam was born to sing yet he was alight for those who came after him on the side of the Lord who stray his father knew he wasn't coming back the same way he Left. In a dog eat dog world I miss him
Just remember those who have taken a life and those who lied about it all. 🔥 🔥 🔥 Fall on them but that 🔥 isn't the same like it on the day of Pentecost. Oh Lord if you don't get in place to get the real truth and follow Jesus. I remember the word, saying, Let every man abide wherever he is called. Romans 16:17 many called problems that are not like Jesus avoid them, Mark them which cause division, he didn't get there because of his mind ❤️ body soul was seperate now he didn't remember to avoid them.who cause problems. Woe unto those who cause an offense towards him , Sam Cooke. ..A judgement is coming. We all must Change. Get yourself in Order if you want to get Right 👍. 1Corinthisns 11:34 If any man hunger let him eat, Les you come not together in condonation, And the Rest would I Set in Order when I Come. I is Jesus. What a Change. My Lord Many Souls have come and gone. But it always been, Jesus. Amen 👍⚓🗝️🕊️💞🎶⚓💯 percent in our 💕 mind body and Soul. Gotta notice how they were keeping Sam distanced from the camera until the very end, and all those fake leaves blocking him even as he was distanced---couldn't let all that wonderfulness be fully exposed on 1958 tv --- not in the America of then.
To my ears, and also technically, the best male singers of popular music as soloists were Tony Bennett, Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke. I might add to that short list Tony Williams of the Platters.
Steve52344: Johnny Nash - pre-Reggae! He IS right uppermost with Sam Cooke. There is something also stylistically unique about Nat "King" Cole's; isn't there?
Yes, stylistically Cole is there. Very unique voice. There are others too. In the R&B/doowop genre of that era there were also some great lead voices. Ray Pollard of the Wanderers and Homer Dunn of the Rivieras come to mind. But beyond voice quality and pitch control it sort of becomes an issue of personal taste.
¡Dios mío, gracias por hacer hombres tan tan sexys y talentosos aunque yo aún no estuviera aun en este mundo. Y gracias a la ciencia por inventar cómo guardar imágenes
This song makes me cry! Missing Sam makes me cry! Wanting Sam makes me cry! Wishing I can touch Sam makes me cry!, Wishing I can feel Sam makes me cry! Wishing I can Kiss Sam makes me cry! Wanting to make love to Sam and can't makes me cry! Oh Sam! My heart is broken and I can't stop crying!!! Oh how I wish you were here to kiss away my troubling tears.
Mr.Cooke was most definitely 1. Nobody but him could make some of these corny songs sound good.when he was with the soul stirrers and even when sang in harlem with the brothas he sang with souuuul
Don't want to be one of the spelling police but the title is "Ol' Man River" by, of course, Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II for the musical Showboat (1927).
SAM COOKE THE MOVIE !!! SAM COOKE = King of Soul Rolling along, rolling along, rolling along Hmm, old man river, that old man river He don't say nothing, but he must know something For old man river, he just keeps rolling along He don't plant taters, he don't pick cotton And them that plants em they're soon forgotten While old man river, he just keeps rolling along You and me, we sweat and strain Body all aching and racked with pain Tote that barge lift the bale Get a little drunk and land in jail I get weary and sick of trying I'm tired of living and afraid of dying While old man river he just keeps rolling along
It's not the song that's beautiful, it is rather HIS VOICE. This guy could sing " I hate your mother, and give me back my money " he would still make you love it.
The original title was Old Man N------. It was changed because the writers thought the people in America in 1927 might be offended, quite ironic with Jim Crow and lynching and total segregation in much of the country.
A young Isiah Thomas the retired Detroit Pistons Basketball player or Sam Cooke's own cousin Stan Shaw both of whom bore a strong resemblance to the Late Sam Cooke.
Please people This man Sam Cooke was so smart Owning his Own Right's and writing All his Song's but when performing on TV live Sam could only use white back ground singers and dancers
@vintagesoulinfo Well, if you want people to find your video, at least spell the title correctly instead of that apostrophe catastrophe that we have here.
