Can’t believe this is one of his less known songs. Genuine masterpiece.

When I first listened to this song, a few tears escaped from my eyes because the lyrics absolutely gutted me. Ever since that day, I knew Sam would always be one of my favourites.

This has such a nostalgic and dreamy feel. He is probably the most talented musician I’ve seen in a long long time and I’m so excited to see what he’ll release going forward as what he’s already created is so captivating

Nick Powell Exactly my thoughts! those falsetto holds he does near the end are so buckley-esque, just beautiful. A real talent.

Funny, I specifically came to RU-vid to see if anyone mentioned Jeff Buckley and this song, completely agree! Very rarely would an artist make me feel that way again but this song does it

@@matthewmills5390 same here haha! I use the "youtube unhooked" add on to dissable commments and recommendations so I won't stay here forever, but I disabbled it to see if someone mentioned Jeff Buckley..

I'm going with Nick's Jeff Buckley vibe, this guy's got a great voice, oodles of musicality, and what I think is a strong social outlook. It is a very potent combination.

I've been around the block a few times. I have been treated like shit and have returned the favor. I've been beaten up, passed out drunk, high as a kite and low as the edge of a bridge, ready to jump. I know my way around. I can talk some shit, because I know the shit. I know the sound a man's skull makes when it hits concrete from a straight, dead fall (drop a coconut from shoulder height). I know what it's like to have to wake your parents to tell them their youngest child has jumped off a bridge and his body hasn't been found yet. And more. I don't want to know this stuff. ANYWAY...Listening to this kid (I'm 59) helps me forget all that, makes me feel human. Hopeful. A little thrilled. I've listened to every one of his original songs, and I cannot think of a clunker among them. Maybe not all "radio friendly" hits, but who gives a shit about radio anymore? Or hits? Just listen to the execrable garbage that top the charts these days. Soylent Green was people! THAT food product would, at least, have had character! The fluid that "fed" Bishop (Aliens) had character. Modern pop is like the fluid that keeps humans alive to feed the machine in the Matrix. Fender is the real deal. I don't know where he gets his depth of feel for life or the deep connection to his craft, his instrument, his voice. Not at 23! And his Springsteen covers, well, they just have to be heard. "Atlantic City," ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wEdjU3XuC0k.html I would like to say he could start something new the way grunge/alternative caught fire in the late 80s-early 90s, but I fear for the digital age's short attention span. He performed as a support act for Bob Dylan and Neil Young at Hyde Park. Can't think of better company. What a voice, what a songwriter, what a musician. He is truly suis generis. I look forward to hearing more form him.

He is captivating, definitely a whimsical, soulful Jeff Buckley/ Jake Bugg/ Chilled George Ezra vibe. Drinking Pimms, as the sunsets at a festival, is this peak listen

[Verse 1] Dark grey vistas of this weathered place The blue star on The Nautilus The old boys like chimneys Mass of filth and rubbish outside the houses And broken fridges and torn up sofas The boy racers tearing down the Beehive road Leading out to coastlines Where kids freeze their lungs And run amongst the rolling dunes away from everyone [Chorus] Oh, leave fast or stay forever An old man told me to leave fast or stay forever Leave fast or stay forever [Verse 2] Boarded up windows on the promenade The shells of old nightclubs and halfway houses Intoxicated people battling on the regular In a lazy low-lights bar Poor souls sleeping on shop front doors Being turfed off by the council Forgotten by our government A selfish little baby with no responsibility Watching people die in the cold [Chorus] Oh, leave fast or stay forever An old man told me to leave fast or stay forever An old man told me to leave fast or stay forever Ooh, ooh
