Haters gonna hate. His voice is amazing, hes hot and the lyrics are great. Who cares what "genre" the song falls under. If you truly love music, genre doesnt matter. Narrow minded people need to move along.
Music can convey what a person might be too shy to say/do personally. It is a song for two people who like each other but are not going to be lovers, just better friends. IMHO.
I do have a hard time taking this as country but I am very glad that they played this song on the country radio where I live, because I love this song. Country meets R&B beautiful.

Who says country music has to be one specific sound? Country music has transformed over the last few years. That doesn't make it wrong or less good, it's just how music works. It happens in every genre! They have to appeal to a broader audience nowadays to succeed in the music industry. What's wrong with having other musical influences in your music? I think it's awesome that Sam has some pop and R&B influence mixed into his country. That's actual artistry.
This ain't grandma and grandpa's country music anymore. I bet you were on the Rascal Flatts hate band wagon for sounding too pop. Country music is all about evolution.

I do think Mo Pitney has his place on the stage and radio and I think "Country" is a fantastic song. I also think the rest of country music radio are so sanitized to pop sounding country that the effects might be too irreversible. Pitney's style and Hunt's style are two different sounds. Arguably you can say that they don't belong in the same category. I don't agree. They should both be supported because they are both different phases of what I think country music is and continues to become. They should both equally be supported as great talent. I hope Pitney receives the same support and air time on country radio.
Yup, never cared for FGL. And Aldean has been on the downhill. It really is just hyped up careless song writing. Those songs tend to be so over played that people are brainwashed into actually liking it. I have just listened to Mo Pitney's - Clean up on aisle 5 and hot damn was that good.
That's some of the worst writing I've ever heard Sam hunt Do. He's such a better writer singer and arranger this song is almost a disgrace to country music. But I'm sure VH1 will pick it up
I don't think it's bad writing, it's just different. He stepped outside of the box and there isn't anything wrong with that. The little talking thing he does that transitions into singing is actually quite genius.
It takes one hell of a song writer to fuse r&b so fluidly. Hats off to Sam for not being afraid to express his influences in his songs. Another great way to break down barriers of music.
