Today's guest on Inside the Down Under Actors Studio is the legendary Sam Neill. Aw yeah, by the way, JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION in cinemas June 9. Get pumped! 2022 needs dinosaurs I reckon.
@@CaptainEasypants Pretty sure they mean under appreciated by his standards. The meaning of several words is completely lost on a lot of people these days. Didn't you know everyone that does anything remotely amusing is a genius?
@@CaptainEasypants there are a lot of movies where he put in beautiful performances that people don't necessarily remember or have even watched. One of the newer one is Rams. Very touching movie about 2 brothers (it's a remake)
positive, happy, content and good living does that to you: he seems to have a real simple life and he's reaping the rewards for just being a genuine, decent human. If you follow his Instagram you can just see that he enjoys such little things....even just the different sounds of birds & strumming little tunes & singing. It's so inspiring
Which is especially why it was so funny when that "age gap" conversation started a bit ago because of the age gap between Laura Dern and Sam Neill. I ALWAYS thought they were around the same age. Even in the original Jurrasic Park.
@@FastDuDeJiunn That's not really the point, when people are promoting a movie they want it to spread as much as possible, doing interviews with nobodies won't really help the movie and they got a set amount of time for promoting so getting the A list celebs means hollywood promoters of the movie think he's doing a good job
I've seen all five of the Jurassic Park franchise on the silver screen, so I'm qualified to say NONE of the sequels even come close to the magic of the original. It was, and still is quite frankly, groundbreaking cinema. And the score...surely one of the greatest scores put to screen. I've enjoyed all 5 movies, but only one of them is a masterpiece.
The score my god is so damn good! As iconic as the Star Wars or 2001. I also agree the special effects hold up to this day. People forget that the original was made in 1993. I employee people to google what all was going on in 93. I’m not sure any other film has been so many leaps and bounds ahead of it’s time as this one.
@@TwoRandomAuzzies I wouldn't hold my breath for Dominion mate. It's going to be CGI over story, bringing out old faces to sell tickets. And I'll buy one don't worry. But will it be better than Jurassic Park...nah.
That was just interviewing perfection. Sam Neil was gentlemanly and funny and game for the "guess the aussie slang", and Ozzy is, as awlays, just phenomenal at making actors feel comfortable and relaxed and just having fun at an interview and not being bored through another slog of a press junket. Bravo, Ozzy Man, bravo! Edit: Gosh, as someone who has acquired maybe 30% of the T-shirts he wears daily from the Ozzy Man shop, getting my comment liked is the best feeling, so thank you Ozzy Man, what a legend! Hugs and greetings from Bulgaria!
@@hotshot6554 Thank you so much, very kind of you, but even if that doesnt't happen, no worries, I've already put the first one in a frame 😂😂. Jokes aside, it really was more than enough the first time, so all is cool and well. 😊
What an absolute legend. I can't think of a single thing he's been in that I didn't like. And his distrust of politicians is a welcome glimmer of hope from an industry who are often horrible at making political judgements.
In all of Ozzyman's interviews, I've never seen him giggling like a school girl until this one. Sam Neill is a living legend. Thank you from a Jurassic Park nerd❤️
I got the joke immediately, but having to get off the train at Redfern in the middle of the night cos there had been a shooting and the lines were closed and station shut down, not nearly as fun as getting off at Redfern.
@@shenders2671 And Ricciardo has a wine that comes with a racing shoe decanter (I ordered one a while back and still waiting for it on the other side of the planet).
Event Horizon is actually pretty fascinating how he requested the costuming department remove the union jack from the Australian flag on his uniform and had it replaced by the Indigenous Australian flag because he felt that's how it should look in 2047.
How refreshing to see an actor that is 'normal', rather than up himself like so many are. Came across as a real down to earth guy, and very well informed, so well done Sam. Love the Jurassic Park films too - right up there in the top 5 for me.
What a legend Sam Neill is. Followed his career since Jurassic Park but went back and checked out his early stuff too (Omen, Sleeping Dogs, In The Mouth of Madness etc). Even did a New Zealand cinema module in my degree. Fantastic actor and true gentleman ❤️
Sam is my fookin favorite of all time! The OG JP is a piece of cinema gold and I love that Sam came back to the screen to continue pushing the franchise forward. I loved this! Thanks Ozzy!
He’s looking great for 74 years of age, born in Ireland before moving to New Zealand in 1954 when he was 7 years old, becoming a bit of a dinosaur himself.😂
Sam Neill is an a list actor who has played many B list parts during his career because he just loves to be in film acting. He is a global treasure that must be protected at all costs!
I didn't know the definition of "shoey" until recently and I've lived in Australia all my life. Sam's description of the politician usage of "fair dinkum" was spot on.
This is probably been my favourite interview you've done. Your face was sheer Joy at being able to interview Sam Neill. You could see it in your eyes how much you were nerding out. I have never found myself smiling or laughing at an interview you have done more than this one. And his in-depth answers of all the slang. Put a very mature philosophical spin on them. I for one, feel enlightened after watching this video
Ozzy man should do every interview of every celebrity ever. He gets stuff out of these celebrities that no one else can because hes genuine, hes fun, and he lets them be genuine and fun.. Keep it up Ozzy man
Sam Neil is like many successful Kiwis, an honorary Aussie. Mostly because they do a lot of their early work in Australia, but also because all kiwis are our brothers..
@@FatedMouse we don’t steal your stuff. It is just that Kiwis have to come to Australia for anything to happen in their lives that doesn’t involve rugby or hobbits. And given that we spend the effort to bring them up to international standards, we get to keep them.
Ozzy! I had such a crush on Mr. Neill back in the day. And this video made me realize I kinda still do. Boy howdy..he's still an attractive & interesting man. And while we're on the subject, I might as well confess I've got a bit of a crush on you too. I mean, how could I not? As always, much love & appreciation from Kentucky U.S. 💙☮🌿
can't help but feel everytime ozzy interviews these A-list celebs on these press junkets, they genuinely have a great time, and a break from having to hash the same answers over and over again for different people and news outlets. good on ya, mate.
It was his interview with Ryan Reynolds when it struck me that these actors have days on end where they have to play nice with a revolving door of interviewers that ask the same tired things. Poor Ryan was so surprised that this is actually different, at the end he was kinda grateful for the "break".
Samneill the Grey, the wizard from Middle Earth down under. I love that's he is so humble saying "I'm not an expert on anything" when he's a great actor!
Sam is a bloody legend. I remember first seeing him in a low budget Aussie movie called “Death in Brunswick”. Which btw is absolutely awesome. Then being utterly blown away by seeing him star a few years later in a Spielberg mega-hit with dinosaurs! Amazing. Thanks for everything Sam and thanks Ozzyman for yet another grouse interview… Oh yeah, I haven’t seen you use the word “grouse” in a guess the Aussie slang thing yet? I know it’s a fairly obscure Victorian hill-dwellers term, but hey, we still use it all the time here….
Well, thanks to this edition of "Guess the Aussie Slang", I have expanded my knowledge of the Shoey. I was under the impression that Aussie F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo had invented it, but now I know he was merely continuing a great cultural tradition. Thanks Ozzy Man!
Ripper, finally finished with those two Yanks in court. Sam has played some great roles none more than in The Dish. Classic Aussie 1960’s time warp. My favourite Aussie movie ever. Godspeed SN
Well that's the best 8.5 minutes I've spent today. I wish it was more of an interview in some ways. I'd love to hear Sam talk about Event Horizon and his other legendary exploits. This was way cool.
Just the two opening notes of the score in the original Jurassic Park will give me goose-bumps, great interview and I can't wait to see it now I know Sam Neill's in it.
Besides numerous unforgettable roles this man nailed it in one of the best horror movies ever - In the mouth of madness. Hats off to both southern hemisphere legends - Ozzy man and Sam Neill.
@@mattreviews4948 until the last couple of years, all box wine here was cheap wine (as far as I know, i'm not really a wine drinker) I think there's now a trend of box wine from medium-quality wines but it's pretty recent.
"No Wukkas!" is derived from the shortening of the saying "No Wuckin Forries!" which is from the term "No Fuckin Worries!" where the "F" & "W" are swapped around.. to swear without technically swearing.. be precise. hee hee :D
Recommend ‘The Book of the Story of the Film of my Life’. If it’s in print mind. It basically has a through joke where everyone in London is a kiwi who’s been living there for ever and chameleoned into the scenery.
Man it's been a long time since the last one you did and you smashed it again! It would be awesome if you could do more of these with celebs. They seem to enjoy it because it's not their usual mundane boring interviews.
I've been a fan of Sam Neill since the OMEN 3 The Final Conflict, this man has a range of acting and is a well rounded dude. I do hope he can beat his Leukemia and get well soon, we can't be losing more of the good ones.
Sam Neil, one of the best actors. Watch him in a movie, and you don’t even know he’s acting; no exaggeration, just wholesome how the average man would react.
Fantastic interview, and man what a thoughtful and insightful person Sam Neil is. I guess it makes sense when I think about the films that he's chosen to make and the nuanced performances he's been able to deliver, but you really love to see it.
