I love how Sayuri has a lot of people around supporting her. Respect to KBS for standing up for her and showing the reality that nowadays, there is no standard composition in a family, and it doesn't make you less of a family with just a mom and a kid. @@Marjansr No, his name is Zen. There is no "Z" character in the Korean alphabet, so the closest thing they use is the "J" sounding one. The english subtitles keep writing his name as "Jen" because of this but it's "Zen." Even Sayuri in one of the episodes clarifies this to the babysitter she was hiring.

Some people would be like ‘aww zen giggling hearing sam’s voice maybe sam could be his father figure for zen’. Although I didn’t personally follow sayuri before so I didn’t know abt her much but please guys respect her decision. She came out with a decision on having a child on her own is not for gaining sympathy for raising the baby alone. I believe she can be both mom and dad for zen. Just give her moral support. Sam also got his own family. I think it would put sam’s wife and sayuri in an uncomfortable situation. No hate guys just my two cents.

Sayuri is both a father/mother to zen. No doubt about that. But sometimes, hearing voices from men will also help zen have a familiarity with real fathers. Zen is blessed to be sourrounded by this people. and good job to mama sayuri.

I know not every kids can grow up in ideal environment with both parents (mother and father) raising the child and take significant roles in raising and caring for the kid. But I hope uncle Sam can be a really close uncle Zen can rely on. And William and Bentley can be his older brother

Dear Sayuri, I am already 64 years old & by the time your Zen grows up, I will be already in the next world. I just want to share this fact & I hope your parents share the same view as mine..please consider to educate Zen the reality that IVF babies (sperm banks) should always be cautious when they grow up that there will be a possibility that he will have lots of half sisters/brothers. Incestious relationships should be avoided through DNA tests.. i root for you! Fighting❣

Why do you feel sad because of Zen "doesn't have a father figure"? Come on! He's being raised as a happy kid with EVERYTHING HE NEEDS and an overflowing love thanks to his mom 💗. Having a father doesn't guarantee happiness and in this video he's laughing just because he really likes Sam, but not because he sees him as father figure or something. This kid has EVERYTHING to be happy and a father wouldn't make much difference.

agree, happy kids do not always need a mother/father figure. All they need is a mentality happy and stable parent and the father can be one those who do not care about the kid at all

And I assume you two have a father right? Look, to a certain extent I agree with your statement but speaking as someone who was raised by a single mother I can honestly say it was really tough growing up especially as a boy without a father figure. Boys need their fathers.There's this empty void you can't explain or understand until you're an adult and reflect back on your childhood. I understand some people have no parents growing up but if you have a choice, don't have a baby without a father or a mother figure in your baby's life. The needs of a baby should outweigh the needs of your desire to become a parent. You cannot be selfish and think only for yourself.

Such a tough job Sayuri has and full credit to her for wanting to have a child and going against the norm and doing this without a partner. She is doing an amazing job although sometimes a child is allowed to cry, she panics a bit when Zen makes even the slightest sound. Sayuri is making it a bit more difficult for herself long term by jumping at Zen's every whim but he is such a cutie and Sayuri's love for him is so apparent. I just don't want her to burn herself out while trying to find the balance for herself and Zen. I think KBS should be praised for supporting Sayuri and Zen.

I really love Zen's segment just because of how different Sayuri's situation is. I'm super curious as to why she chose a sperm donor of a different ethnicity. Part of me is like - he's already different having been conceived through IVF and this will be a routine explanation he'll have to give as he grows older and begins to date and meet new people. But now he also looks different being only half Korean amongst a community that notoriously struggles to accept those who look different. However, I love how inclusive this show is and I find it so endearing that so many people are there to help her through this journey.
