@@tyralikadiamondstar8960 I believe that his second album is actually on Amazon. His third album which was unreleased is actually on RU-vid as well. It's called Strictly For The Bedroom and it's amazing.
For those who don't know, Sam Salter recorded this song and Homewrecker first and gave them both to Sisqo. He also recorded Color Of Love before giving it to Boyz II Men for their album "Full Circle". If you listen closely, you can hear Shae Jones singing in the background once they get to the chorus of the song
All those songs were due to be in his follow up album to "Its on Tonight", the album was the much anticipated "Little Black Book"...but unfortunately he had a fall out with La Face records and all those songs were given to other artists.
Imagine that. He didn't want to sing a ballad because he wanted to get away from the Dru Hill sound. It turned out to be his biggest hit 😀. Too bad Jazz didn't have enough people to convince him to keep Half Crazy. Jazz turned it down and Musiq took and it became an instant hit.
I love Sam Salter. He sings with so much feeling, emotion. I've lain alone beneath the stars so many nights, listening to his songs-thinking, feeling. I really, truly love his music. What a beautiful soul.
Sam killed it. I'm a Sisqo fan but Sam is the *ish. I heard Sam perform in D.C. circa 1998. He provided the theme music to the 3 year relationship with my college sweetheart J.C. (she knows who she is). Just heard "Sinking in Quicksand" for the first time. Where have I been? Let's take that vid to 100,000 views. It deserves it.
I just knew this just now after a deep research to the song. He delivered this song his own ways. The way he sang it was literally gave it an emotional grasp of coming back to the happiest times with his precious loved ones.
There's love and sincerity in his vocals.. I love his style so much better. Though I enjoy sisqo singing, some songs should not be covered and this is one. Where is Sam at anyway? He has one of the best vocals in the business. What happened.. Sam comeback.. We need here more songs like yours.
What a shame this guy isn't a renowned R&B star, he has all the right ingredients. I imagine most on here have heard his second unrlsd album Little Black Book. Those tracks, along with this, would've made him a superstar. It's nice we've got both versions and both have their own merits, I like Sam's more though.
he did!! Sisqo is a master class vocalist and always leaves his ALL on the records he records! when that bridge his sisqo left this guy in the DUST lol
Well here's my unpopular opinion. Although both Sisqo and Boyz II Men did well covering Sam's songs Sam brings an element of honesty and sincerity to it. Meaning that instead of showcasing unnecessary vocal decorations his voice is a whole lot more believable. This version has a lot more authenticity in it and it's the one that I prefer.
@@LoveUnconditional777 I love the way you worded what you said, I couldn't agree with you more. Sam Salter has a very unique voice and you just brought to my attention now, it does sound honest coming from him. But he has a very very unique voice and I love his style of singing.
@@LoveUnconditional777 thanks I appreciate you. Do you know the history between him and laface Records. Because he is severely underrated and I just felt like if the world would have heard him he would have been more popular today.
Okay fellow music lovers...lol...let's do OUR research and set the record straight...neither Sam Salter nor Sisqo wrote this song...it was written by non other than the talented duo Montell Jordan and Anthony Crawford. It was originally recorded by Sam Salter when he was with LaFace Records and was later offered to Sisqo by Montell and Anthony for his solo album Unleash the Dragon. Now can we all get along and get back to enjoying some awesome music! :)
While it might be true that Montell and Anthony wrote this song you can't be sure because true writers in the industry are usually given absolutely no credit for the songs that they write. Sam was blackballed in a major way and he was probably stripped of not only his albums being released but also of writing credits. I know of a few songs that other artists are credited as writing but in actuality they had absolutely nothing to do with the writing.
Most people knew this dummy. You ain't drop no new knowledge. Sisqo version still better. Sound like somebody got this nigga Sam by the nuts the whole time he singing.
So many people have commented on this song saying Sisqo sound better ok that's your opinion but i think this was better and he got black balled in this messed up music industry...RIP
Sam Salter cut the demo in 1998 but was given to Sisqo and released in 1999. When Sam Salter was recording his first album, that was released in 1997 he was being marketed as the “18 year old R&B crooner”. In fact,he referenced his age on the album several times. That is what I was referring to,not sure what album he recorded in 1994.
Wow!....never knew this wasn't originally Sisqo's song. This orginal version is beautiful, but I like Sisqo singing better, Sisqo just has a better stronger voice in my opinion.
That boy, Sam, was tough as they come. I hate that he got caught up in the L.A. Reid/Babyface separation when they split their partnership and sold LaFace Records to Arista Records.
sisqo is a good singer but he does scream alot lol, sam salter voice and style of singing is wayyyy better doe, sam has very good control in his voice his range is unbelievable, i never heard anybody sing like him and he can riff really good. check out every time a car drives by and yo body is my body those song are really really good
The original version done by Sam sound cool but to me Sisqo’s was better because it had more feeling vocally. Sam’s version would have done way better if he recorded in the early 90’s like when singers like Tevin Campbell were hot.
I agree with everyone on here, what in the world was they thinking by allowing Sisqo to do this song contract or not. Would have went much further with Sam Salter on this track & album sales!
