I'm a 61 year old American just now learning samba. I'm married to a Brazilian woman and I want to be able to dance with her. I'm taking lessons here in Florida, but my wife says it's not quite how it's danced in Brazil (it's a start anyway). She watched your video with me and said "now THAT guy knows how to dance samba!". So, i'm subscribed!

Chose your video first. No need to try another. You break the moves down so clearly and simplify. Now to practice. Tried to learn at SummerDance Chicago. Felt frustrated and no close to being able to samba at end of night. You’re the best! Btw, New Orleans has a similar three-step dance for second lines, and a slower one called “hand dancing.” Obrigada-a thousand times!

I finally learned the steps. Trying to learn from a female instructor did not really work, they have heels so it does not show exactly how foot really goes.

He's absolutely right that the most common mistake is to put the foot forward on the 1. I would add that the srm movements are bigger or smaller depending on the location and/or type of samba: classic samba and the big carnaval parade sambas have a lot more arm movement generally whereas in a night club dancing to modern samba, the arms move really small and its more subdued. There's a Brazilian comedy character known as sambaca who dances samba wrong if you want to see for yourself 😂
