Probably a hot take, but I think I would like The Poppy War by N.K. Jemisin more than by R.F.Kuang, because Jemisin tends to be subtler with her themes.
@@BookswithEmilyFox Am I the only one who thinks this could be great? A woman goes to work as a servant for an affluent couple. The book is about the difficult relationship between the two women, and the draw she begins to feel for the man. Then the third act twist would be done much more interestingly and subtly... But I think the final twist & the ending would be completely different.
Honestly I would LOVE to see how Brandy Sandy would rewrite Ice Planet Barbarians, not for the romance but I’d want to see him come up with actual worldbuilding reasons to explain why the women need to bang 6 foot tall blue aliens 😂
I’ve chosen to believe there’s something in the air that makes them crazy because who thought this was a good idea?? Pregnant by giant aliens on a planet with no doctors??
It by Emily Henry is such a cursed combination and I want it because I feel like it would alter something about the fabric of the universe by its mere existence. Also, rip for saying the only worse author for Ice Planet Barbarians would be Murakami and then pulling that combo in round two. Just pretend you drew Jane Austen instead.
Love this idea! Would love it even more if instead of - or in addition to - yes/no, you describe more about how the book/story/characters would be different. I feel like I heard “no” for almost all of them and that there is a really good opportunity to showcase your creativity here 😊
I love the mix and match style of putting books and authors together, there were some very interesting combinations. If you redo this type of video please could you consider adding a section at the end where you choose the combinations e.g. picking “Part of Your World” and picking an author who could either improve on this book or match the level of the book, with the rule that you can’t pick the actual author of that work. It would have been intriguing to see what books and authors you would have matched together, of course keeping it in the style that you can only match them up once - so you would have to be careful with what book or author you are left picking from at the end. Love your videos, can’t wait to see what other fun things you come up with.❤
This video cracked me up. Great idea! Keep them coming! I love the book discussion this concept started. I would read IT by any other author. Maybe your video will give Gillian Flynn something new to write about.
The Poppy War by VE Schwab was an instant yes. Havent read The Poppy War but I have read Addie LaRue! I also will suggest we play this "game" at a bookclub meeting.
Night circus written by RF kuang is a fantastic combo. RF Kuang loves sprinkling real facts and anecdotes into her stories, so we will not only get fun tidbits about the circus but an immersive world-building, and actual competition.
The Night Circus is one of my favorite books of all time, I reread it like 4 times, which is entirely due to its atmosphere and the setting, but I totally agree that the magical duel part of it was underwhelming. I wouldn't recommend it to people based on that haha.
Based on the options you chose for this video I think Ice Planet Barbarians rewritten by N.K. Jemisin would be interesting😂. Also yes to The Night Circus rewritten by R.F. Kuang, that sounds awesome.
IT is one of my favorite books (yes yes I’m a psychopath) and Emily Henry writes romance I actually like. That combo just screams monster smut and I definitely don’t need that mental image!!! 😅😅
And yes, even after what I just said above, I would definitely read A Little Life written by Stephen King. I might feel guilty adding literal supernatural horror on top of what Jude went through, but I'd read it.
I finally read I who have never known men on your recommendation and I loved it! Same with In the company of witches :D Sorry its not related to the video 😂
I wouldn't read The Night Circus by R.F. Kuang because at least to my knowledge, Erin Morgenstern didn't tweet about not publishing her books in Russia anymore and then quietly delete it and go back to business as usual. It by Emily Henry, on the other hand? Sign me up.
What do you think the ending of I who have never know men would have been like by Brandon Sanderson? I am guessing he would explain the Why of the world but idk enough of him to know what kinda vibes his endings have!
I feel like we’d get less introspection but a very interesting world building. I’m sure it’s find a way to have big answers we didn’t get. They’d be very different but it would be fun!
It would be better if you use chat gpt for this as not every author is familiar to me enough to know the difference. And it would be funn to be able to know exactly what it would be like
I believe I would find IT more enjoyable if it were written by Brandon Sanderson. I also think that "I who have never known man" would be more like wayward pines if it were written by Blake Crouch.
