Same sex marriage: Justin Welby won't offer blessings for civil married same-sex couples 

Christian faith does not allow it the same is true in Islam and many other faiths, the same sex marriage people already know that those religions don't allow it. End of story really, why are these people trying to force their choices on everyone else?

Can anybody suggest why we never hear anything about same sex issues from imam or mosques and its always the church and Christianity???

As much as I shake my head at religion, it's not for others to force their own beliefs onto others. They don't see same-sex marriage as legitimate and that's that. They're entitled to that view.

No to weddings and no to blessings of same sex marriage, where in the bible did Jesus marry two women or men how can they procreate it makes it a mockery.

The Holy Bible teaches God's Word. And His Word is final, in everything. Christ Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life. That's what the Christian faith is and its Church must live by and teach. I was married in a church because i believe it is a house of the lord and believe in the bible. Unfortunately my marriage ended , no fault of my own. I remarried and even though i would have loved to have been married in a church i was married in a register office because i thought that was the right thing to do. What this woman and others in the LGBT community fail to acknowledge is this: if you believe in God, it is your responsibility to know God’s laws and obey them. Period. We are not in a position to counsel God. If God condemns homosexuality as sin like other sexual sins, it is your duty to obey God. Period.

I think the biggest absence from the Church of England is God Himself. He is often ignored or not allowed in the door and has been pushed out by man replacing worship of Him for a man worshipping, man centric ideology.

How many of these same sex couples that want marriage in a church, actually attend every Sunday? very little I suspect. I don’t see what they are worried about.

Why arent these people asking for blessings from the muslims aswell ? - i dont hear anybody asking the same of the heads of mosques around the country. I really don't understand why this woman scoffs at the idea of the possibility of elderly couple having a child. Isn't she supposed to know at least a little bit about what's in the Bible? What about Sarah? What about Hannah? What about Elizabeth? If the Bible's so irrelevant to this discussion that it's completely put to one side and its contents scoffed at, just pack up the church altogether and stop calling yourselves Christian.

we cant change the bible to suit ourselves God wants man for woman because that produces offspring and marriage is about the children to protect them. We live in modern times people walk their own road sometimes that road is different than the bible teachings and Gods commands live with it dont expect God to bless a union that he has not stipulated . The Bible tells us quite clearly not to pander to popular opinions if they go against the Word of God (Romans 12.2). I assume same-sex couples, who want a Church blessing, know and understand this and will therefore not be disappointed.

Fewer and fewer people are religious in England so the church is fairly irrelevant. Get it out of UK politics as well.

What is to be gained by forcing people to do something they feel is abhorrent to them? Do you really want to be married by somebody who is really not into your wedding at all? Why not just seek out people whoa re willing and everyone is happy?

Why do two men need to marry? Why should churches be forced to compromise their beliefs? There is after all civil marriages! The church is not a commodity or experience to be marketed for market share! Do the hard work and appeal to young people. Marriage in principle is the union of a man and women to the exclusion of others to express their physical and spiritual love for each other and commitment to the possibility of producing and raising children. If sexual activity is the issue then it should not be about marriage.

If people wish to have a Christian wedding in a church, they should understand the significance of this. It is a SACRED COVENANT made in accordance with the Biblical teachings according to Jesus who pointed to the first marriage as the framework: Adam (one man) and Eve (one woman) in the presence of God (our Creator and Head) agreeing to work together in partnership with each other from this day forth, no matter what (with the one exception of abuse) until death do you part. Until marriage, according to the Bible, it is fornication to live together in a sexual relationship. Fornication is a mortal sin that hurts oneself. Whether you agree or not, this is Biblical and that doesn’t change. Secondly, when one marries they become one flesh- this is evident in the procreation of a child. However, even if you do not have the physical representation of a child, you are spiritually bound to that person, which is another reason why fornication is harmful. The Christian representation of marriage is symbolic of God (the bridegroom) returning for his Church (the bride). This is extremely significant to Christianity. It is a fundamental Clause and not a mare sideline point that can be overlooked or manipulated to fit in with social norms of the culture and times. To change “marriage” in the church is to spit on a fundamental principle of Christianity. When we talk about LOVE in Christianity, we talk about God’s love. God orders us to love our neighbours as ourselves. No one is better than anyone else. No one is more righteous or good. However, there are certain behaviours and practices that are “abominations”/abhorrent/hated (according to the Bible) by God and this is why the subject of “gay marriage” causes so much controversy in the church, because whatever your personal definition of love is, God’s love is very clearly defined and as much as He is loving, He also will not tolerate sin. Whatever that sin is. You cannot be a part of God, if you are “dirty” with sin, because He is absolutely Holy. No amount of “being a good person”, doing charity work, being “kind” etc can change that. There is only 1 way and it’s very very clear. That is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and accept the blood sacrifice he made for your sins once and for all. Understand that throughout ancient times, the only way a person could “pay” for sinful or “bad” acts was through blood (a life for a life). Jesus was the ultimate lamb of God- the ultimate sacrifice. Therefore, when you come together in Holy matrimony, you come in the presence of God and you’re asking for His blessing-the the priest/Vicar/pastor etc. is not the one who makes these rules. It’s God’s rules and if you want to follow Him, you have to follow His rules. Simple as. So you must present yourself as Holy before your Holy God, in reverence and take your vows seriously to each other. You may not like what I have stated, but if you want to marry in a Christian Church or have a Christian blessing, this is what it entails. Like it or not. You are otherwise welcome to enjoy a pagan/Hindu/Islamic/Buddhist/Satanist etc etc etc legal registry “marriage” of any kind and follow whatever they dictate, but a Christian marriage in a Christian church requires the above if you care at all about the meaning of marriage. Therefore, those who marry for a big fancy party should think twice about marrying in a church!

The problem with acceptance of same-sex unions is that they have changed the nature of traditional marriage. It is time that the church did not simply rubber stamp any couple. Fidelity and vows do not necessarily mean anything now. Heterosexuality has been diminished in society.

As I understand the Bible, God established governments to ensure the common good of all people living in a nation. The Church on the other hand is meant to be about God's business - sharing the Gospel, saving souls, teaching and discipling those who believe in Christ, to follow God's ways. These are 2 different roles completely. The Church would fail miserably if it were to compromise on this, or confuse its God given role with that of government's role. May God give greater wisdom, strength and courage to those leading our Churches until He returns for His beloved and spotless bride ✝️💜

Leviticus says that a man shall not lie with a man as with a woman. Fair enough if you believe all that. But Leviticus also says that you can't eat shellfish, port etc and must not wear different cloth at the same time. How come most Christians who have a problem with gay people, ignore those other strictures? It can't be because they're hypocrites, or just pick and choose things that bolster their prejudice, can it?
