Wow this is beautiful and for me to try understand another different culture it is amazing. México celebrates DÍA DE MUERTOS with his roots in the MICTLÁN a ancestral tradition aztec and others old cultures of thousand years ago. In another hand, the SAMHEIN is beautiful and so ancient like our celebrates. My greetings from México City. 🙏👏

What a nice festival! Samhain is actual an Irish Pagan ceremony not English but I can see why people would get confused

Well, it's a celtic celebration in general, here in north of spain( asturias and galicia mainly and that is where is still done something nowadays) it was celebrated too before the romans introduced christianism, and today some of the traditions remain still. ( Like doing lanterns but with turnips , leaving water outside the house for the spirits to drink as they pass by, roasting chestnuts (we call that " magüestu" ) . Also, instead of dark fairies, the dangerous thing that comes out here is supposed to be " la güestia" which is a parade of demons and spirits that they say if you see it, you must lie on the floor so they won't see you or make a circle of salt around you to avoid them. Is not donde so much now, but they also used to give branches of yew as an offering to the dead too.

Samhain definitely isn’t old English. It’s Irish Gaelic and a Celtic festival to mark the end of the harvest/ summer. Back in ancient Irish times Samhain was a time when witches and pagans would appear. We now call it Halloween

You are wrong there. Samhain was not just Irish but also celebrated across Wales Scotland England and Europe. Were all Celts Irish? No. Its a pagan rite which was a celebration of the last harvest , and the ancestors, before the winter cycle. Not Irish but slso celebrated in Ireland .And pagans didnt "appear", as you say, they were the actual people. I have studied it extensively. Samhain isnt just an Irish word either.Also Halloween was a much later word, used after the Christian celebration of ALL HALLOWS all souls day, I wont go on but theres lots more. It would be great if we had a lovely festival celebration such as this one, but Ireland and its people have thrown aside their true heritage at Samhain in favour of American type cultures and thats the truth, sadly.Did we grow pumkins here ? Dont think so, and we still dont , all imported. Perhaps if more people understood its true origins and meaning, we could do something wonderful and educational aswell. Like this group in the vid. Happy Samhain to all.🧙🏽‍♂️🔥

Look up Samhain on Wikipedia now that’s the real truth of it & just how we in Ireland understand & celebrate it, do not insult the Irish nation with your ill informed understanding of our culture & your ridiculous assertions on how we Irish have bastardised it!!You display a bad case of Empireitis such arrogance & ignorance is not to be tolerated in this day & age.You keep having your wacky & weird version we the Irish will keep doing it our way the right way.

@@MimiYouyu here from spain, we still celebrate samhain ( tho here is " samaín" or just called the " magüestu"/"castañada" cause one of the main parts of the celebration in the Spanish peninsula was roasting chestnuts), with some differences, but is the same festivity at it's core.the celebration mainly surivived in the north of spain ( galicia and asturias to be exact) where there was the strongest celtic presence and where other cultures did not erased the celtic tradition completely since it's an area of mountains and people lived more isolated so it was easier for them to keep their traditions without anyone ( ahem, the inquisition and co) finding out.

Samhain is NOT Old English; it's Irish Gaelic - it's pronounced something like "SAU-in", not "swain". November 1st is the old new year's day; the 31st of October was new year's eve.
@kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474

Sort of - it's "SAU-win" - stress on first syllable and the 'n' at the end is like the first 'n' in "onion".

Cultural Appropriation Alert 🚨.I grew up in Ireland 31of October & the 1 November where cause for huge celebrations all over the nation.When I immigrated to the UK Halloween was barely celebrated it was all about Guy Fawlks & bonfire night.I always threw a huge kids party based on the traditions I grew up with.In fact in Ireland turnips were used as lanterns like the pumpkin 🎃 is in USA perhaps that came from Irish immigrants.We knocked on doors with cries of “help the Halloween party” I hazard a guess the origins of “trick or treat”. I incorporated modern Halloween traditions plastic decorations & fireworks into my traditional & unique Irish ones I explained to the children the origins of my traditions for this time of year they loved them.I will be leaving my kitchen window open with a bowl of water for my ancestors to wash their hands & food & drink for them to enjoy on the night when the veil between our worlds is at its thinnest 31 October.

I hope you know that the christian " day of the dead" that's its celebrated mainly by catholic christians, was created by christianism as a way to keep the samhain celebration but making it christian. But like, it's the same festivity.
