Remember The Hero's, Two Sides of Love, Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy, I'll Fall In Love Again, There's Only One Why To Rock, lots of good Sammy hits from the 80's.
Reagan managed to get BOTH houses to pass and then he signed into Law the 55mph national speed limit. If a state didn't agree they were denied federal funds. I lived it mate.
If you're gonna dig into some Sammy, everything on the album Standing Hampton. That album was his swansong. Sidenote Sammy sang for Montrose and VanHalen after David Lee Roth's departure.
You have heard Sammy sing before. He took over for Roth in Van Halen. Sammy really elevated van halen when he took over. He really showcased Eddie's talents. They produced some amazing songs. RIP Eddie
Play Sammy Hager with legendary guitarist Joe Satriani, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer), Mark Anthony (Van Halen bassist) in a band called "Chickenfoot" playing "Oh Yeah" or "My Kind of Girl"
Sammy Hagar one of my favorites. As others have stated you have heard him before. I've seen him when he was with Van Halen, solo and with his current band The Circle. He is in 70's and has a lot of energy.
1. His name is pronounced Hay-gar. 2. He wrote this song when the nation went to the 55 mph speed limit. 3. I got to see him twice. Once on Guam right after he left Van Halen and again a couple of years ago with his new band "The Circle" 4. The war will always go on between him and David Lee Roth as to who was the best singer for Van Halen. I say Sammy because as charismatic as DLR is he's just a showman. Sammy is a musician. 5. A couple of things to be mindful of: The Circle still plays and catch Sammy's "Rock and Roll Road Trip". He goes to visit other musicians. He asks them "This or That?" Then they put a little tuneage in at the very end😎🤩
Standing Hampton is by far his best album, front to back. Jeff Jones is 100% correct. You should hear Heavy Metal, or I'll Fall In Love Again off that album. Both huge hits for Sammy early in his solo career.
Simply one of the best voices in Rock. I love his early stuff with Montrose in the early 70's, especially the song "Rock Candy". Basic, straightforward Rock.💙
You did the song BAD MOTOR SCOOTER by Montrose that was Sammy Hagar in his early days he is also known as the Red rocker Sammy has been around for years he's one of my favorites singers he owns a bar in Mexico Cabo San Lucas he has been with Montrose. On his own. Van Halen and Chickenfoot

One of his best (and most overlooked) albums. Hagar, Schoen (from journey) AAronson and Shrieve .Bought it new, still have the cassette, but it may not last
The Double Nickel = a nationwide speed limit of 55 mph (it sucked AND blew simultaneously!), and was a result of the 2nd Oil Embargo. This song was the only good thing to come out of it all. Just try making it across Texas on I-10 in daylight going 55 or less. If I may suggest something from 'Down Under' - try "Overkill" or "Down By The Sea" by Men At Work.
Oh! Geeze! When Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen, then they really came to life! My favorite is “Love comes walking in”!!! Give it a try. I’d never steal you wrong!
Just remember that, when you drive, your life is in your foot's hands! :)LOL(: BW, I think this song was written during the gas crisis of the mid 70's when the nationally imposed 55 MPH speed limit was made law. Funny story... in 1979 I got a ticket in in my Datsun 240Z going through Montana on the interstate... For "The wasting of natural resources"... I was doing 95. Montana's way of saying they still wanted the national funding for roads, but didn't like that they'd always had unposted speed limits (they only had suggested speeds for safe travel). This is the same trip my buddy and I fell in love with Dire Straits... especially 'Wild West End' (hint - hint -hint :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T4Ad_J_2l0w.html
This is a dangerous song to drive to. The first time I heard it on the radio, I found myself going 95 mph while I was traveling eastbound on I-696 just outside of Detroit. Whoopsie. So glad that the Michigan State Police were engaged elsewhere...😬😂
Since you often comment on the old school sound, I recommend the movie Sound City by Dave Grohl. It provides a good history of the transition that killed old school rock. It's available on RU-vid at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kREXK5sVjQ4.html
My brother and I were headed up the interstate, following along with the traffic flow. Here came a cop passing us on the left pointing to pull over. 80 in a 55. We were the only ones who pulled over. I think what really got us was the bumper sticker that read, I Can't Drive 55!
Historically speaking -- This was very current day issues. The Federal speed limit was 55 mph in ALL states. Many people considered it "painful" to drive cross country. Another historical note in the video was when he drove behind the pickup truck with men in the back. We used to pile into the pickup truck bed. I rode to the lake in the back of the pickup truck, with my hair swirling all around my head! It was common to see workmen gathered in the back of a work truck, too.
I had an accident driving with this song on. Just took a curve too fast and slid off the road into a tree. Not too much damage to the car, I was not injured. Just learned a lesson.
A little context for anyone wondering about why he can't drive at 55. "In the fall of 1973, in response to the OPEC oil embargo, President Nixon issued an executive order mandating a 55 mph national maximum speed limit. The following January, Congress made it official and passed a "temporary" one-year continuation of the limit. And so began a 22-year odyssey where reality and rational public policy never crossed paths" - James Baxter, president of the National Motorists Association, which lobbies to preserve the rights of drivers.
Saw Mr Hagar and band open for ZZ Top back in the early 80's, ZZ Top's Eliminator tour, and he was very energetic. Nobody knew his songs yet on the East Coast, but he got a great reaction from the crowd. Saw Van Halen with David Lee Roth, and i cannot imagine Sammy doing any better than Diamond Dave. At that time.
Saw the same line up in Worchester Massachusetts. I knew all of Sammy’s stuff but the best part was Brad Delp from Boston came out and did a song with Sammy. Excellent concert.
