@CURTEAR67 you can do it on your own, YOUR way. No one elses. Your life is YOURS to live, brother! Make the day count, as Charlie Daniels use to say. He's another one that "knew"!
This is a really good show!!!! Awesome performance!!!! I'm sick of all the Van Hagar bashers and Nay Sayers!!!! They sound awesome!!!! Sammy and Mike and Joe, and Jason still got it!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Joe Satriani is an absolute LEGEND for being a part of this! I grew up on this era of VH and he's absolutely nailing the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge TONE!!! I hope they decide to bring this tour to the UK 🤘🏼
I know so many would not like that commit because they hold Eddie up like some guitar god. If you listen to those last shows with Eddie and Dave and Wolfgang they were so bad. Eddie was still pretty good but tired after so many years of being strung out. His son on bass was just not a good match and could not harmony with Dave at all. And Dave was so bad and off key that he just ruined it. I can't listen to those shows. But this here is a complete unit. We got Anthony back and Joe with Jason this just sounds 100X better then anything Eddie did in the 2000's. This holds up with VH of the 1980's Eddie or no Eddie. This is good stuff.
Now THAT’S a set list! Satch gave Edward a great compliment with not only the chops but that incredible tone for each song. And how much fun are these guys having- my goodness it’s unreal…it’s what rock and roll is supposed to be. Being in a band is like family. You can sure see AND hear the fun. 🤘🏻😝🇨🇦
We are the lucky ones Sammy, for you to bring together this AWESOME band and present us with a due tribute to the mighty VH and why not say, VAN HAGAR!
They will be up here tomorrow. Completely sold out. Great show as expected. Sammy sounds great at 76. Mikey looking great. Joe Satriani has a tough job. Thanks for the video. Long live Van Halen. RIP Eddie.
I was at THIS show and it was simply one of the best concerts of my extensive concert going lifetime!!! Yeah...these songs can't sit on a shelf. They have to be played. And how about Satriani...wow!!!
What exceptional effort for amateur video to share. The audio is excellent. I commend you guys for thinking of those that loved van halen and will never get the chance that you made for the rest of us. God bless you and the legacy of VH
Some Van Halen fans thought it was sacrilegious to replace Diamond Dave. Roth was awesome in the day but Sammy shows you can still rock at 76. His voice is still among the best vocalists.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us!! Just an incredible night, so glad that you captured it and it can be relived by all of us who attended the show!! RedLove to you!!
Bummed I missed them when they were playing somewhat nearby, but I really appreciate that you posted this. Such an amazing tribute to EVH and I'm so impressed by the band. Sure, Sammy can't hit all of the notes from the 1990s recordings, but he sounds damn good at age 76 and his joy for this music is so obvious and infectious. I feel like Joe, a guitar hero himself, is paying a really dignified and spot-on homage to a brother in his craft. And Jason nails it with the drum parts (and kudos to the drum techs for making the kit sound just like Alex's). Many thanks for posting.
Awesome show!!! Great job of recording this! If you cannot get into this you are dead⚰️ Wish I could have been there! God Bless them all for keeping the music alive! Great job🎸🥁
I wanted to see this show, but couldn't get a bank loan to buy a ticket. $500+! I saw the Foo Fighters a week ago with Mammoth VH and the Pretenders for less than $200! Thanks for posting!😊
it is absolutely infuriating and abhorrent that the scalpers are able to still do this. its f'n shameful. I got scammed $350 buying tickets on thursday. but ended up going anyway. I had to. I was on a ticket site and they had the audacity to have ticket(s) at a cost of $17k. and many at or over $5k. Not sure how legit the first price was. but for that money, that better give me all access for the next five shows and a seat on their private jet.
My musical interests have changed since the 80's and I don't really listen to straight up rock music anymore, but wish I would have went and seen them when they came thru Florida. Sammy is the man. Signs someone's tag, then signs a shirt, then passes out tequila all onstage.
I was at the first show, July 13 West Palm.... so happy to be able to experience this music again. Last time I saw Van Halen was the '88 Monsters of Rock tour.
This is great! Now I understand why DLR and Alex VH wanted Joe for the tribute that sadly never happened. Joe is absolutely not a copycat, many of those available on YT! but he has a really deep feel for EVH's playing.
I spent several summers playing Hacky Sack in the upper lot during the late 80's. Red Rocks is definitely my place. When I die, just know that is where my ashes will be spread. It was always my place. When I visit, I always hit the stairs and just sit and relive all the great concerts I attended there. All around the world seeing concerts. NOTHING compares to Red Rocks.
Wow!!! We will both be there mixed in on the rocks! Because that's exactly where my ashes will be too,I took my Daughter to see Billie Eilish there and I've seen several shows there...my next show is Ashes of the Leviathan on the 29th of this month! Can Not wait!!! Best venue in the World!!! U2 filmed Sunday bloody Sunday there way back when! Epic concerts there in Morrison And I drive from Texas just to witness the sound
Shook this man by the hand, spent some time with him, went backstage checked his gear out, had a photo done......this human being Joe Satriani is the nicest guy in rock. I salute you for stepping up Joe! ❤
Probably not as this is a tribute band to Eddie. And a hell of a good one. Even better then what Eddie did in his final years. But nobody can write like Eddie did. Any new material he took with him on the other side.
My hubby is in L.A. right now with his guitar player, finding their seats for the 7pm show!! Looks like a fucking rockin show, hope it's this good tonight!!
Thank you for posting this!!! This absolutely Kick Ass!!! Michael singing Fuckin’ Rocks!!!!Sammy is Pure Rock’n’Roll. The Bedt live version of Ain’t Talkin’ About Love ever🤘😎🤘
Yeah those final shows with Dave singing all off key with Eddie and wolfgang just made it worse. Had to say it but this is a much better band then Eddie's final years which for me are unbearable to listen to . Dave was so bad and he didn't care. He thought he was the man (in his own mind lol)
Joe Satriani is the most successful guitar instrumentalist of all time. And that’s a fact. Beyond that he’s had an amazing career. Joe taught the great Steve Vai, Kirk from Metallica and many others and to the doubters “cmon baby” it’s Satchhhh !!!
When it's Love is maybe the best one .. Man I love this song it stirs so many different emotions!! such a great song These guys made some of the very best songs of all time ..nothing moved you like some of these songs
awesome. i was there in 14th row. sadly the VH we all know and love will never be. But luckily we have youtube for that. And then you have a gem of tour with these guys. And some serious heads of state musicians. Sammy at 77 is just fuckin fantastic. all of them really.
1:24:55 and on.. absolutely wonderful perspective of this venue. whirling winds. For those of you who have never been here. Find one of your favorite bands that are playing here and enjoy the f out of it....
Because they got Michael Anthony back and Hagar who can still sing in key (Dave can't). Wolfgang and Dave ruined what was left of VH. Eddie had too much ego and kicked Michael out. Also mad at Hagar who would not return. And here Joe just does an amazing job of eddies style. Like you say this crew is solid.
The show was fantastic as is the venue. Loverboy were amazing as well. We love going to concerts at Red Rocks and absolutely make the drive for a must see concert like this.
Only Sammy Hagar could put this together? What an amazing idea. David Lee Roth ain't got nothing on this he couldn't even dream about putting something like this together!
Unbelievable sound and Sammy in his 70s his vocals sound better than Dave did live 30 years ago! It is amazing! Kudos to Joe for his devotion to Eddie's sound above his own! Space Station #5 was amazing 70's Sammy! Mind you, where is the thanks to EVH's writing at the end of the show???
I just listened to a 2013 show at the Tokyo dome with Dave. OMG he was so bad. Wolfgang singing harmony didn't help. Dave was so out of key and lost. I mean it literally was comical how bad he sounded. And he still jumped around like he was the man. Those final years of VH can't touch how good this current band sounds. As for thanks to EVH I still think Michael and Hagar still have bad feelings for Eddie. And rightfully so because he was an absolute Jerk and treated them like crap for years. He was a very ugly Alcoholic. Even after he quit drinking he never made amends to them. Some people are like that.
Awesome. Great post! One of the greatest friends I have ever had is at that show. I agree, with a previous poster. Most male singers start to lose their voice in their 40s to 50s... there are exceptions such as Michael Anthony, but Sammy is doing well, almost pushing 80! Satriani and Bonham very cool too! Glad Michael Anthony is still kicking ass and taking names. He was as underrated in Van Halen as John Paul JOnes was in Zeppelin; maybe even more so, because of his badass pipes. Without Michael Anthony's harmonies, those early Van Halen songs would not have been as memorable.
Just listen to how bad VH sounded in 2013 at the tokyo Dome on YT. With Wolfgang on Bass and DLR singing all out of key and off course. Maybe if Eddie didn't throw Michael out of the band he could have reeled in David a bit more in Eddies final shows. DLR was so bad I can't listen to any of those shows. This band is so much better then that. And proves how important Michael was. Hagar still singing well and in key. At this point in time there is no question he is better then David. David is washed up.
I wish Sammy would book multiple nights at each venue. Most venues were sold out months ahead of the shows and the scalpers re-selling tix 3x or more at crazy prices. Amazing show! Saw them at NJ
I was at Holmdel, too. Was at good as it could get with all respect to EVH, who would approve if he was watching in the afterlife. As for David Lee Roth, what can you do? He was always the malcontent. Let alone, he retired and probably could not bring it anymore. Alex gets a pass because after all, playing these songs without his brother would be too painful.
