my grandfather is a full blooded Samoan and my father is half which leaves me at 25% I wish I was more apart of the culture, I feel I'm missing out and that I don't fit in
Maui Williams Hey Uso Tamatoa, You are our cousins, Maori 3rd reinforcement unit WW1 - 25th Maori Batt WW2 you have always included us as part of your Units..Much Aroha Bro...From all your Pasifika Whanau serving.
We dont like loseing our family because it is really sad for when people die in army even if your a poly it hard because you cry alot and just never stop
@@moefaanonoamaiava8949That's also true for us palagi people who grew up on the islands and ran into Samoan people in the US. I happened upon a group of Samoan people in Las Vegas during a July 4th celebration, and once they learned that I'm from Tutuila, we immediately became friends. As I bounced between the two groups, one of my newfound Samoan usos offered to beat up a guy who was making jokes at my expense. I told the uso no, on the grounds that the guy was my friend and just poking fun. The moral of the story is that Samoan usos (brothers, for those of you reading this that don't understand Samoan), will always look out for their own, even when the person is "adopted" into the Samoan culture. To my usos, fa'afetai lava from a palagi who was born on Tutuila.
i think all polynesian peoples are the ultimate example of unity. every time i see them, they’re always laughing and singing and uplifting each other. the whole damn world should follow their example
Just goes to show you: no matter where you are, what you are doing, or what the situation is, we Samoans are going to sit down & sing & you are not going to stop us. They call us 'the happy people' for a reason
I have zero idea what it must be like to be a Samoan but by the sounds of this it must be wonderful. Amazing on so many levels. Hoping you all a safe and sound return home.
im not Samoan but all my best mates in high school where Samoan, Tongan and kiwi we where all mate and we all did Polyfest its an amazing feeling being with them singing and dancing with them and experience it was the best experience so far in my life and i love them to death my best mate Ma'a called me the white Samoan .

👌👌👌 Represent as an Island nation. We are all different and unique but at the same time we are the same. #TokoBula #Tokouso #ALOHA #Chuk #addtherest #alldat God Bless
When I served with the 25th ID in the 1990's. I had the honor of training with Samoan soldiers. They were some of the most professional, toughest, and strongest people I have ever encountered. I have much love and respect for the Samoan people.
I remember my brother showing me this video, and as he showed me I see how proud he was to be Samoan and now that my brother has passed away at the age of 27 I always come back to this video and remember the look he had on his face when he showed me this video and it makes me cry and feel sooo proud to be Samoan and so blessed to have had him as a brother. And as my brother would say Ch Ch Cheeeeeewoooo
I'm half palagi half samoan/hawaiian, I grew up not really knowing much about my Polynesian culture and had to teach myself. It's been difficult to learn with no teachers but I've been doing the best I can, and hearing songs like this really help me stay on track of my mission to learn more. Fa'a samoa CHEEHOO!
Everly Scene I have 3 cousins that are in this video , i cried when they left .. hearing them singing songs from church , and having fun and having a smile on their face means the world to me. Im proud to be Samoan
One thing about Samoans is that they’re going to SING. Even in the most heated moments, music always seems to calm us down. Thank you to the people outside of Samoans showing love! We love you all! #SAMOA
Though these Samoan soldiers are miles away from their homeland in the Pacific, they are proud to keep their cultural heritage alive, strong, and accompanied with them at all times. I'm proud of this, and it makes me happy. I salute you all for your patriotism, bravery, courage, and gratitude to maintain your culture strong. Greetings from the United States! 🇼🇸🇺🇸
Father Abraham has many sons And many sons has Father Abraham I am one of them and so are you. So let's just praise the Lord. Right hand Left hand Right foot Left foot Nod your head Turn around Sit down. From Sunday school to the battle field. Just realised how this song is made for war. Worship the Lord and warfare go hand in hand. Ask King David and his mighty men.
CSU Schlawiener It's an old folk song about a group of guys caught out in detention for breaking curfew while watching their classmates graduate from seminary school (In the Islands back in the day, it's like being suspended from Harvard Law). They were suspended for a year so were singing in protest that the judgment was so harsh. They found death was more acceptable. If you've known disappointment and you want to encourage a Brother this is the song that you sing together.
Never see American troops doing things like this this is one way to the spirit going chur to much boys love and respect from good old Aotearoa #keeprising
This video I come back to every now and then. First time watching made me tear up a bit. I was far far away from fam in college and made me wonder about these men and how far they are from family. As long as we believe in ourselves, remember God family and culture, we keep on keeping on! Keep on the good fight. If your reading this, I hope nothing but positive vibes come your way ❤️
I enjoy this shit. When I'm in a bad mood ,I always put this on to show me wherever you are in life there is always happiness somewhere even on the battlefield. God bless to our soldiers.
filipino here and i love the samoan culture. i have been researching the samoan culture for the past month. i love their simple life but their food selection do not seem to be diverse. the ingredients just revolve around taro, breadfruit, coconut and bananas. also the men are big but i also learned obesity and diabetes is on the rise because of growing dependence on SPAM and lamb imports from New Zealand. i hope the government of samoa can do something about the obesity and diabetes problems of samoa before its too late. my bucket list before i die is to visit the beautiful island of samoa and go to the Polynesian cultural center. from your austrinesian brother in the Philippines 🇵🇭 🇼🇸
I want to add to this comment. I am a palagi from New Zealand. If I spent a month researching anyone, including my Samoan Bros, I wouldn't watch the people who serve their country and the world who are singing and stirring up my whole heart admiration appreciation and love... and THEN write a blatantly ignorant comment about their diet and a health issue. I don't know much, but I have eaten food very generously shared by Tongans and Fijians, and Wow is it beautiful and healthy.. I love all the different things like kossava, yams, taro leaves, coconut cream, raw fish, watermelon, pineapple, and wow, pork cooked on the fire!!! I am constantly given food by Fijians and once a Tongan neighbour made a feast for me and my family, including a pig cooked on a spit. How lucky I am to live in a place with not only the beautiful tangata whenua but also the island people of the Pacific!!!! I have decided now to learn more about these beautiful people. By the way, I bet all these soldiers here look after their families, get by with less than I do, and are more joyful, generous and full of faith than I will ever ❤️ be. I bet they are great at playing rugby and supporting the game. When Samoa is playing rugby here, my whole city is on fire with high vibes and red flags. Next time I eat off a Crown Lynn plate, I will remember that a hardworking, poorly paid Samoan probably made it. Thankyou Samoa! Thankyou young men who have warmed my heart today!!!
Always had massive respect for Samoans. Grew up playing rugby in my backwoods American hometown. I’ll take on anyone but watching rugby on tv and seeing y’all play is a totally different experience. Y’all are awesome
Proud of you all... 👏... I am not s samoan born, parents are from the island... just listening and watching how you all are one awesome family praise God 👏.....
Watching this, on the train to work at 0640, and so proud to see my Island brothers, rocking the Island Spirit, whilst in uniform!! Now that just made my morning! 👌 Greetings from Papua New Guinea and Melbourne, Australia!!! 👏👏
I'm full Samoan but by the time I saw this video.. no wordz man.. the culture the language everything this boys are is so amazing y'all... ( Malo ia oukou le uso le kau. )😎😎😎😎
Its a blessing to know that our culture is still putting God first in everything they do. Keep your heads up and fight. Remember warriors are always warriors for a reason. May God bless you all on the way.
Beautiful music from our Samoan Brothers absolute precise quality of tone these people are born with a natural affinity to music Kia-ora from AOTEAROA!

I'm a Maori who lives in Europe Germany and i'm proud of me my fam and my culture our strength They can't never take feeling of home and gratefulness of our hearts when were together
How did you like being in Germany? Did you feel comfortable there and did anyone stare at you? For the prople there know much about Aotearoa New Zealand. I am very worried about going there because the people here in New Zealand are very friendly. I hope you liked being over in Germany.
Thank you to these young men who offered their lives to serve our country. For those who never made it back home , RIP and our deepest condolences to your families.
This is awesome. Thanks for posting it. It is an EXCELLENT reminder of how diverse the US military is. These guys sing beautifully, and watching this gave me a strong sense of how little we appreciate the people of the territories. I will be more aware of their contributions to our society now.
Highest rate "per capita", it makes a big difference. If there were only two Lakota Sioux fighting in that war and one was killed, then one could say that 50% of the Lakota Sioux were killed. Whereas if you had 100,000 white guys fighting, 50,000 would have to die for the same 50% loss number. Numbers are like people, torture them long enough and they will say what you want to hear. This in no way takes away from my Samoan brothers, badasses one and all. Happiest, most loyal, honest, moral people on planet Earth. If you love them, then you will love them forever. If you fight against them, forever will come to you very fast.

Not being Samoan, I didn't know the words, but at the conclusion of that first song, I recognized the melody from my childhood, as a favorite song that Daddy would sing, "I love those dear hearts and gentle people who live and love in my home town". I think that song was a hit record for Bing Crosby.
Dear John Robert Mailernee Thank you for your comments the first song called Ekalesia mean Congregation Cristian church one of the best old traditional song of Samoa even to these days still loved by SAMOAN People and you right that song tune is from Bing Grosby songs I Know this My Farther told us his children My Farther wrote this song his name is The late Reverend Alesana Tofilau Afaaso and that what he told us the tune of this song he wrote one day in Samoa he turned on his radio to listen to some music and than he heard Bing Grosby song was on the air he kinda likes the tune and Grosbys voice so he decided to wrote his Ekalesia song and used that tune so I'm so happy you comments about that because right now most of my Samoan People still question Who wrote this Song Some of them claimed theyare the one but I' don't get the fuck about them now I got my Proof my witness it's you haha GB Love you from Tinei Afaaso NZ

It's so heart-warming to watch fellow Samoans singing together. I used to listen to Samoan church members singing while growing up. Always beautiful to listen to. #polynesian #hawaiian #samoan #expat
