You can definitely see the Samoan trait of the Rock. The shyness, the humbleness, the pride and the aura of a loving caring man that even the souls of every individual that was there could also resonate with the spiritual aura of the religious side of our morals and values as a Samoan. Religion is a big thing for us growing up as a Samoan. Weather we grew up not liking church, it is a must for us Samoans to experience and embrace our spiritual side because without God in your life, you will not know what true love is and what forgiveness really is. Samoan culture is unique. The Rock is one special dude, setting great examples for the people to be humble, proud of his cultures, and yet kind and loving to people. He's a fair man I should say.

Wow the Samoan hits differently from the rock! The sounds of the language is so beautiful. Once i met a girl who told me that she is american. But she didn't look afro nor Indian. I asked her what are her roots, and she thought that i won't know where her ancestors are from. So when she said:" Well i am half afro half Samoan." I shouted they rock i know these people. She was so happy and didn't expect it at all. So thanks to the rock i had a nice memory with a stranger

Thank you for representing our Samoan culture in such a positive manner, always respectful to everyone you speak to no matter what as that is how we truly are in the both Samoa’s. when you first appeared on television I was elated! I had never seen anyone from our culture make it into the movie industry, which has been my dream ever since we got our first T.V. in Samoa when I was 5. I knew right then and there what I wanted to do when I came back to the states. You gave me inspiration that I could do it too! The only problem was I kept telling myself it wasn’t the right time. It took the sudden death of my little brother at age 24 to open my eyes. Broken hearted as I watched him lay in his casket, I thought, “What am I waiting for? to lay in my casket and never had tried because I was too scared. I might fail? Well, I’d rather try and fail than not had tried at all.” It’s never going to be the right time. I realized it was just an excuse because I was scared, yes it’s my dream but what if I make a fool of myself? Then I realized making mistakes and making a fool of myself had always been my learning experience through life. Right after Tyler’s funeral I started acting classes and accepted any role I could get in order to learn and grow. I still thank you to this day for being my biggest inspiration. I’m now with SAG/AFTRA did a few movies, shorts, on stage shows, commercials etc. However when I got the chance to Co-produce with a good friend of mine I realized I LOVE being behind the camera better! I love bringing people together and seeing our script come to life on the big screen. I’m not big or famous or anything but I was blessed enough to finally Produce my very own show in 2017, “Lisa at Large” (its on RU-vid, you know? Just in case u get bored and want to see what an ameture show looks like. Hehe 😉) I was both excited & nervous as heck but happy to be able to produce my very own show in 2017 enlisting that good friend of mine that I 1st co-produced w/from the beginning, to share the Executive Producer credit w/me Our cast & crew were fantastic! Full of energy, we were so organized we shot 94 pages in 8 days (we shot on weekends) I also made sure we shot it in February the month my little brother passed away so It would give me strength. It won many awards at many film festivals and filmed it on a shoe string budget. One of my favorite awards out of all of them was best Cast Ensemble. Our cast members had the best chemistry. I felt like a proud Mama.🥰 It didn’t make it big or anything but I’m so proud of my cast and crew for their hard work, positive attitudes and professionalism. You and God made this possible! You made me feel a Samoan girl like me can do it too. God helped me stay sane through the stress of wearing two hats, producing and acting in the show lol. Most important keeping everyone safe and happy. Wow I wrote a novel, hope you had a snicker’s nearby.😬 I just wanted to express my gratitude and let you know what you have done for me. I'm chamorro and I grew up around hella Samoans in Hawaii and the bay area💯 I remember in 7th or 8th grade, there was some dudes on the bench. There were Samoans, Tongans, Hawaiians, Marshallese, and Chuukese. All of their voices singing along together was just hella dope bruh. I needa go back to hawaii and link back up wit some of em😂😂
I know The Rock's dad is Black, but what I love about this video is that Rock STRAIGHTFORWARDLY embraced and stood proud of his Samoan lineage! This is a slap in the face to all those Black people who I observe on the internet who LOVES to make the ridiculous claim that The Rock is just another Black person based on the fact his dad was Black & how in America the "one drop rule" categorizes you as "Black" blah blah blah.... Growing up watching Tne Rock in WWE I, as a Southeast Asian person (Indonesian) always thought The Rock looked like one of us Indonesians more than like a typical Black person (Booker T for e.g) to the point that every kid I know back then was mad reppin The Rock printed tshirts! The Rock was LITERALLY every Indonesian kids idol and fav, of course aside from him being ultra talented was that we thought he looked just like us and we proudly felt "represented". And then of course I found out of his Samoan heritage and how Polynesians & Southeast Asians like Indonesians, Malaysians, Filipinos are part of the Austronesian family tree therefore making us racially and linguistically related/one people! And oh boy am I proud as hell to be distantly related to an amazing people like Samoans/Polynesians! (Y)PEACE
As a Mexican Latino, you can see how proud we are to be Mexican and I love how Polynesians are so proud as well it’s why I am such good friends with so many I consider y’all my friends I love your culture and we both eat each other’s food. Love all my polys out there 💯💯❤️
Mr Johnson, you’ll probably never see this but I had the pleasure to work with a cousin of yours in Springfield, MO. Communication Solutions training class around 2013 or 2014. I can’t remember her name as it’s almost a decade later but she talked about you all the time. She carried your picture around. She shared stories of you. You’re such a humble man, a strong man but she cared the MOST about your love and your devotion to family. I hope she’s okay! I wish I could remember her name but we all thought it was so neat that she was related to you! And our catch phrase was FOCUS!!!!!!
love the rock im polynesian (tongan) and watching the rock on tv growing up feels like im watching my uncle on tv. i just get that fam vibe from him every time hes on the big screen. you cant even tell he has a lil black in him. looks, acts , jokes, and sings like a samoan... but i love my blacks too lol dont get it twisted yall
