I had the former flagship S9 Plus which I loved but the battery life was starting to get on my nerves so I wanted to upgrade but thought that the S22 deals were way too expensive. I decided to go for the A535G and I am so glad I did. Its a fantastic phone, especially for the money. Camera? Great. Features? Great. Quality? Great. Don't waste your money on a flagship like I have done for years. Get an A535G.
I currently have the samsung galaxy s9 i can't afford to get the s22 series I'm considering the A53 5g my question is it good at streaming videos and gaming I've been watching alot of videos on this phone it seems good but as someone that has the phone is it true

THIS PHONE IS TODDLER APPROVED ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ my son has thrown this phone into our hot tub 6times , thrown it down the toilet ..and flushed it multiple times , poured full cups of apple juice , milk and water on it probably over 20x has dropped it down the stairs, on cement and has just today burried it in the dirt and watered it like a plant and left it there for the afternoon AND IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY !!!! PARENTS WITH CHILDREN GET THIS PHONE IMMEDIATELY IT PASSES ALL TESTS!!!!!
Went from the S21 fe to A53. I needed the sd card slot badly, and the short batterylife on my s21fe killed me. I don't game with demanding games on phone mostly media comsumption. Very happy with my A53 and I'm never buying a flagship phone ever again that's for sure.
@@vicjames2743 I've had mine for almost 6 months now. It's a great budget phone, I love the clear screen resolution. Only downside is lack of headphone jack, but I've grown used to Bluetooth now.
I did the same. Still have the s21 fe it will be a back up. I am only on day two. Do you find a similar battery drain issue or has the battery been an improvement over the fe for you?
I switched to Metro by T-Mobile from Verizon yesterday and got the Galaxy A53 5G and so far so good. I came from an iPhone 11 and the Galaxy A53 5G definitely has a great battery, 120HZ, 128GB of storage, 6GB of ram, beautiful cameras, beautiful display, SD expandable storage, I mean what more could you ask for? This phone is a gem!!! 💎😍🥰
@@mohamedisaac1133 Absolutely! I get 5G & 5GUC (UC - Ultra Capacity) majority of the time, and in certain areas I get 4G however, the data holds up extremely well. No complaints I love this phone so much, it's better then my old iPhone 11 that's for sure and the battery lasted me from 4:15am - 3:45pm then it was on 18% so I put it on charge. This phone is great I would highly recommend it.
@@once6612 I definitely would, the Galaxy A53 5G is phenomenal I love this phone and I am so glad I switched to it from the iPhone 11 best choice ever!!!
I got the Samsung Galaxy A 53 5g when it first came out. It is the best phone I've ever had and I still own it today. The battery is great, it's fast and it looks brand new. PS: They sell headphones that dit into the charging port.
I bought a fold 4. It broke within a month. I needed a phone to replace my phone while it got fixed. Honestly I am super impressed. I dont think I will buy flagship phones , this phone meets my needs. Great phone, Great price.
Starting using the A53 5G when I switched carriers and came from a iPhone 11 about a month ago, and the A53(for me at least) is faster and takes better pics, the 120HZ makes games pretty smooth, the in display always works the first time and the display itself is excellent at the price point, I would definitely recommend if you do some casual games( works great for me with COD mobile) the software will occasionally hiccup(but not often) and the speakers are nice
I have it and it's great. It was a bit stuttery when i first got it but here are few things i did that make a world of difference. First i went into developer mode and cut animation times in half, then i disabled all bixby things i could (i dont use bixby), i removed smartthings and all the apps I dont use. Then to went to memory settings and set RAMplus to 6 gb. Phone is now snappy and fast, battery last 2 days easy
@Ja Aj ok I did it. It was set to 4gb by default. Does that mean the phone was only using 4gb of memory? Why would they set a 6gig phone that way. And does that mean 8 gig samsungs are set to 6 by default?
I am still setting mine up but it is a huge step up from my previous LG phones. They had good cameras but this phone's cameras are awesome. Speakers sound great, it tests hearing and can adjust my Bluetooth earphones accordingly. So far the only annoyance is the extra games that keep downloading with updates. I uninstalled all of them and they returned via a software update this morning. Battery life seems shorter than stated, but I'm still setting things up and even with battery saver on it is decent. Looking forward to a few years of use out of this one.
I got the Stylos, last one was the Stylo 6. I was ticked off that they shut down; so I wanted to switch to something other than spy agency Google and Samsung. I got the moto g stylus 5: 8-Bit Nintendo camera!!! I might have no choice but to relent and go with these people...
This phone is not for the person who wants an upgrade. It's for the person that needs a new GOOD phone and doesn't care with keeping up with the times.
Thank you Sir, for all the info on all the phones you have received. I have decided to go with the A53 as my new budget phone cause it seems to have all I need. However, minus some things I want but am willing to let go of because I refuse to pay $1,000+ for a phone that I just want to text, call, you tube, take decent photos and internet search on. Awesome video, keep em coming. Thanx again - Robert
I just got one of these, used to use the S series phones but I am very happy with this device , it does exactly what I need it to do . Great value in my eyes.
As someone nursing an aging S10e, this seems like a very logical upgrade. Unlike like S22, you still get to keep the expandable memory (but still losing the headphone jack, inexplicably). I'm curious how the S22 is a "flagship" device when it has demonstrably fewer features than this phone. It doesn't even have as many cameras 😂 definitely an uneven product line from Samsung, but I'm glad there's genuine options that don't cost $1000+
That's the first thing my mom said... I bought her a S22 to replace an S10+ on launch week so she's had it for a bit now - between the larger screen, larger battery and expandable memory it feels like the S22 was shortchanged for a flagship. Make no mistake the S22 looks / feels more premium in hand and the speed is quite a bit faster vs the A53. At $600 Cdn for the S22, it's easy to swallow the specs.
the options that cost 1000 dollars is the s22 ultra and it has more and better cameras can zoom in times 100. It also has a lot more features such as the s pen. I own both and I can tell you that the s22 ultra is worth the money over this cheap commodity.
@@kaydenmerritt5239 that’s the dumbest thing I read today… not everyone has $1k allocated for a phone or needs 100x zoom. Of course a significantly more expensive unit will be better, otherwise why pay the premium for a flagship
I have the A53, and I love it. Yes, I did deal with a lag, but not anymore really. Battery does really well, screen is great, camera does its job. Loving this phone.
I really don't understand these opinions that A53 is not worth upgrading from A52 or A52s. Why should it be? I mean I can't see why people would even concider spending money year after year just to get the latest model when it's a midrange device. Clearly A53 is meant for people who are in need of a new device, not owners of A52(s) who for some strange reason expect mind-bending upgrade in newer version of the same device!
It's one of the few phones left with additional memory card slot. Up to 1 terabyte of storage! That's a big seller for me. When these phone companies stopped allowing you to add memory cards for storage and you had to pay extra to get internal storage that's when they lost me!
@J L Verizon has this for $199. It took over total wireless wh service is perfect. Never more than 1 min. to get a rep on the line. Reps know everything, super polite, best prompts of any company anywhere, and they can resolve every problem w/o delay. Hoping the switch isn't a bad thing. I've had total wireless for years and nothing but praise for them. Rather pay the extra $ for reliable service. Seems there are lots of ppl complaining about different phone services so I'll stick w them unless Boost has great service and great plans. (?) Anyone (?)
@@DabblelyDiddly thanks, hon. That's exactly what I wanted to know. My sister has cricket and it's always failing. Drives her nuts. Only probs w my phone (old samsung) is my apt hackers. (It's a long story.)
Good review. I went with the A53 because it was only $16 extra so I bought it at a fantastic price! In addition, A33 didn't have the band network that my carrier used so I wouldn't be able to talk or text. Watching this review made me more satisfied with my purchase. 😀👍👍
@@Native722 no lag, at least not yet. I had it for a week and it seems solid so far. My only complaint is the WiFi isn't as fast as it should be. I tested it out and it goes up to 440Mbps, while my previous phone goes up to 900Mbps.
@@Native722 I got my A53 3 months ago, and I don't get what lag people kept talking about, my Awesome53 lasts a whole 2 days of hard usage and still has 20%~15% I only charge it before sleep.
Just bought this phone on prime day for 325. An absolute beast of a phone for the price. People who say this phone is slow. It absolutely is not. It's actually quite snappy. I don't play games on it but for the phone experience it's lightning quick. I upgraded from a LG v30 that was 5 years old. It's better in every way minis the wireless charging which I don't miss. Great phone if you can pick it up cheap.
@@Tribuneoftheplebs yes USD pricing. I did a couple of optimizations to make it run quicker like limiting background processes to 3, done in developer mode and limit screen refresh rate to 60 Hz which was more for battery savings and restrict security permissions from any Samsung bloatware related. Finally I disabled all animations. This is done in developer mode. Disabling AR permissions from camera semeed to speed up the camera a little bit.
I’m still rocking my S20 FE Which ain’t bad. I think I have had one of these Devices back when I had Cricket Wireless. It was ok but it needed that boost so glad to see they fixed a lot of the problems the one I had back in the day. Don’t remember which A-Device it was but it was a Budget priced phone. So that makes sense as well. Thank You for the coverage Cant wait for your Unpacked video next month as I’m eyeing the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro at least i hear there are 2 Watches but of course I’m going Pro 😂
I have an IPhone 6 at present and concluded I wanted to get out of the apple trap, one of my customers issues the A13 to their surveyors so I was going to get one of them sim free. Then my current provider offered me a good deal on the A53 5g, so I’m going with that, shame there’s no stereo Jack, but to be honest I rarely listen to music on my phone.
Also no one has done a review on the full customization available. Like the side bar, you can adjust the touch sensitivity to where it feels 1000 times better, you can open developers options and get some extra feature settings.
Just here because I was forced to upgrade from my trusty Galaxy J7 since 3g is getting dropped. Thanks for the breakdown. I just wish it didn't use a usb c for charging, none of the charging cables I have work so gotta get a new wall plug for it
@@whitelotus1594 yeah, I'm not a fan of the new setup...not the physical setup or the new UI. And as always I hate how there's something like 20gb of pre-installed software that you can't get rid of, even if most of it is stuff you'll never use or want
I had this phone for some months now and i think it's a great phone for the price of Around 300$. It handles games like CODm, Asphalt 9 and War Robots fine on medium graphics settings although you can expect some juttering and lag when going through the menu and switching between apps. Battery life also has been good easily can go through 2 days with about 3-4 hours a day
I lost my S23 Ultra with no theft/loss protection and I was able to pick this phone up for $189 as a placeholder until I'm able to afford another premium phone, and I have to say that I am wildly impressed. Yes it's obviously a few steps down from the S devices, but as a typical day-to-day user (talk/text/social media/streaming/browsing etc) I can honestly say that I've barely even noticed and as a result, I'm not in a huge rush to run and spend another $1000+ ASAP on another Ultra at the moment, like I thought I would be.
I think that the lack of attention to having a SD Card capability is interesting. Few phones have it and I make a concerted effort to stay outta the cloud and store and back-up data in the phone. The push, even by Samsung on it's flagship models, to use the cloud "for all things" is scary in today's cyber-hackable world.
I always try and mention the lack of an SD Card slot especially on the non-flagships since people seem to seek out those phones. They are becoming harder and harder to find. I’m not big on the “cloud” either
I am in a similar situation. I am disappointed in the manufacturers taking away basic features so I found the Xperia iii 5 which checks all the boxes on paper. I had high hopes for the phone but coming from the S10, I quickly realized the phone is rather narrow and the OS uses stock google (very different feel from samsung's and LG's UI). The out of the box OS is very basic too. I ran a few OS updates and the wifi stopped working. Sadly, this may need to go back to the store.
Just a quick comment. Went to buy a new phone, and the S22 Ultra was there... And despite the $1200 price tag, the charging brick is not included... And that was not purchased. The A53 5G was. Less than half the price, still has all the stuff I want/need (except a 3.5mm audio jack), and it'll handle everything I throw at it.
Love your reviews always objective why I keep coming back! Find it kinda sad we're at a point where a new device's highlights include features that were removed, what "didn't" come in the box, or how similar it is to last years model. Already own the A52 5G seeing no real advantage upgrading to A53 5G. Actually at a point where Android has become quite meh in many respects (personally) that we're seriously contemplating switching to an iPhone, nope not perfect either by an stetch yet there's a level of consistency that imo is being lost on the Android front. Plus, now being one to hang onto their device's longterm Apple is beginning to make more sense especially for their unmatched support.
s21 and 22 lineup 4 years of software updates and 5 years of secutriy patches..thats not enough? who tf keeps a modern phone for longer than 3-4 years anyway...have the a52 5g and its decent at best.
@@whitegoodman7465 Lol I do, still got a note 5 I use for work., The a53 dropped $150 in price since release and its still over priced, had to buy a new personal phone with the 5g updates and went with this one.. The phone is slow as hell and honestly feels like a step down vs the 6 year old note 5 I bought new.
I love my A53. Dual Speakers, PS2 Games without lag, 128GB Plus expandable storage, amazing camera. Had a pixel 5 and both phones are amazing and well made. Except the pixel 5 was 700$ lol. Best thing it did have that the A53 did not have was hdr10+ (which I did notice) and reverse wireless charging.
Do you use Aethersx2? And do you use any speed hacks to get it working well? I don't usually expect a midrange exynos chipset, that too with 2 big cores rather than 4, to perform as well as say, the Snapdragon 778g in emulation And since most emulators are optimized best for snapdragon, i won't be surprised if it's like 720g level of performance
I got this phone in matte black a couple weeks ago, I think its pretty good tbh. Yes it lags sometimes and isn't the fastest phone in the world buts its a £399 device....its a shame it gets so much hate 😐
Ya, nick ackernam made it like it was so slow and said it was disappointing because of ONLY few lagging, but it isn’t, the A53 deserves to be praised, not hated, remember, some people just complain about such little things like Samsung Dex not available on A53 for example
I just moved from a moto g100 to a samsung a53. The moto was what I was used to, but I couldn't get phone service half the time. I live in a metal house, and the limited bandwiths on the g100 basically only utilize tmobile. But I'm not in an urban area, so ... The a53 is new to me. The camera doesn't work the same way the moto did, and getting around on samsung is challenging. I am saving up for iphone 15, or a pixel. 5a impresses me. The moto g100 was $400, but I am resigned to using the new moto as a wi fi tablet. It takes nice pictures.
Too notch reviews....you have been hitting on all the points that a conscious person like me wants to know about a phone....it's not about specs or tier...but about real world usage of a smartphone....please keep doing what you are doing.
just purchased this phone it's a upgrade from what i'm using now (moto g power 2021) and I don't play mobile games or use camera all the time so this is perfect for me. can't wait to get it. only paid $199.99 for it new.
After watching this video as well as several others it seems that if a person walks into the store and need a phone just by what you can afford and have in your pocket. I mean some of these phones are so close that you don't need to save up your money to buy a higher-up version because they are so similar in function that unless somebody watches a video they would never know the difference. It's a good day for the average person who may not have much money but can still have a phone that meets their needs with a few extras thrown in. Once again your friend from Columbus Ohio!
Just picked this up for my dad… the headphone jack is bit of a downer as is the fact that we only get it in black. But for what it costs this is hard to fault.
I wanted a fairphone 4... got one actually and it seemed awesome! The downside, it wasnt compatible with the dexcom diabetes app, so i couldnt use it. Ended up having to buy this A53 this morning in order to use life enhancing medical tech. Im just glad its a mid tier phone, and only £400 as opposed to a £5-700 phone. It was a second choice from me but im glad it sounds like its a freat phone tech wise
I wanted the A52 so bad last year, but Verizon didn't carry it. I ended up getting a Galaxy S21 for pennies on the dollar and have been happy with it. I don't really miss having an SD card slot because I've had the Droid Turbo and Droid DNA in the past and neither of them had an SD card slot.
Nice one Wade, useful opinions. At the moment I'm in the FE range but I'm thinking of moving to an A.. something. I've read reports that Samsung are about to drop the FE range anyway and I'm not going to pay more by upgrading to an S.
It’s nice to have 6 hours to plan ahead and do things that u needed to hear in the world. I’m so blessed to have friends who are willing to send money and support my life.
I Don't understand why people bash this phone everywhere. Just bought one, and using it for a week. Works very fast without any problem. Picture color output looked a little bit weird at first since i switchted from xiaomi mi 9t but when i compare two photos taken by these two seperate devices it clearly shows A53 produces superior results. Fine detail decent battery life. Fast and smooth UI. I'm pretty happy with it.
I've been using a Motorola G7 Supra (power) from 2018 for 4 years and it's finally time to upgrade. Gonna pick this up tomorrow from Cricket for $299. These specs for that price don't seem like they can be beaten. Looking forward to getting it. Thanks for the video.
@@earndawg6149 I would if their coverage was better where I live. I'm in a rural area outside a town of less than 800 people. Cricket/AT&T covers me perfectly in LTE and some 5g, T-Mobile not so much unfortunately
@J L yep that's a problem people in cities don't have to worry about. In the country the choice of carrier comes down to who actually offers service in your area lol. 260 is a great deal on a great phone
On my second A53 in 16 months. The first one wouldn't make calls unless you restarted it. The second one no longer has audible notification sounds. Sigh. I really liked this phone, and it's my first time using Samsung. First phone I've ever regretted buying.
@@Oxide53115 Yeah, tried everything in settings. The notifications just stopped making sound (unless I already had a video playing when it came through). T-Mobile even took a look at it when I was considering doing an exchange. It was the phone, and I upgraded to something else.
Seems Sansung is holding back on improvements. What happened to the note without beveled edges? Square as a noot should be. No memory card slot? No 3.5 plug for headphone? And getting more expensive? Pittysuch a powerful corporation is stingy out of fear of lacking technology.
really nice review! i have the a33 and i wanted to ask you, do you see some stutters within the ui? like when pulling the notification panel down? do you think theyll fix it with updates?
I personally haven’t had any issues either with stutter on the A33…are you running anything custom like skins or launchers? Anything taking up significant RAM or causing overheating?
it's like when you compare a22 4g to A32 4g the a22 4g is more smoother although it has the same chipset. That is the case I think of a33 5g and a53 5g the same chipset but the lower one is more smoother even though it lacks other features.
I have the a51 5g and liked it so I've upgraded to the a53 5g. The only difference I can find is the a53 5g has no headphone jack and no charger comes with it. Otherwise everything else is the same as a51 5g. Both phones work great. 🤷♀️
Hey man could you please come back and tell if you have the same opinion after 3 weeks. Cus I just ordered my A53 and I've been seeing negative reviews that it's slow. Thank you
Highest GB5 I've pulled is a 1911 and I'm on 4g atm not even getting 5g service in my area. But Vulcan and crypto is giving in the 24-2500 score pulls which is more accurate I've talked to multiple ppl and they said once 5g hits my signal I'll see a huge difference in my speed and GB5 pulls.
I had the A71 5G which I bought specifically for the expandable memory and the old style audio connector. A brilliant phone in every single way until it totally and utterly died 12 months in...data unrecoverable!!! Samsung continue to strip phones of features and quality as well as ignoring obvious and numerous issues which should be easily rectified. Would I buy Samsung again? Yes...but not if they continue with these practises
I switched frome the a32 5g. Def worth the upgrade. The 32 is ok but the screen has a latency issue, specs suck. This has a camera I can actually use and the 6 gb of ram helps a million times
at 2:17 you said that IP67 is the first for a Samsung A series phone, but my A52s has IP67. The A52s is a better phone - having the Headphone jack and faster processor.
Would you be able to re-do the Geekbench? Some other channels and review sites have the single score circa 700 points - corious if there was an update or sth that changed the perf.
I love my LG but it is time t upgrade and since I cant get another LG, Im looking for the next best thing. Im very nervous but was told that Samsung would compare.
It’s funny that the A53 even though it’s a new phone from 2022 even though, it’s a budget phone it’s still has worse geek bench scores than an iPhone 7 from 2016 from 6 years ago
Back then when i used budget phones like the J7 Perx and the J7 Refine things like the A series didn't exist 😭 So I got the S9 a year after its release and I fell in love with the S series. I'm watching this on my S21 Ultra, got the S20 Ultra also 😏 and more. But now after they took expendable storage out on the S series i am now going to give the A series a try. But I am still being picky with what to get cuz i am all about flagship specs now. Do I settle for the A53 or get the A73 just because it has the qualcomm chip instead of exynos 🤔 ugh decisions.
I'm very disappointed with A53, the SoC Exynos 1280 can't play 4K 10bit HDR HEVC. Try playing RU-vid 4K HDR video if you can. And the front camera is so awful in low light. My old M31 can play 4K 10bit HDR HEVC instead.
Hi from Australia, great video thanks. Was wondering if the A53 5G has NFC ? I've read conflicting reports on this (even on the Samsung site! Would appreciate if anyone knows ?? Cheers
That's gonna be a fuck no for me dawg! Lost me at headphone jack lmao. Miss me with that shit. inb4 Any mouth breather here feel like trying to convince me that turning bluetooth on your phone, then powering the earbuds, then pairing them with the device is somehow more convenient than just plugging whatever headset, earphones you want. Also tough luck if they're out of charge
@Hew Jarsols But i heard now something about usb c audio and they are saying its not good ) : But its old videos 3 years ago, and maybe things changed now ?
@J L yes i have that usb c to 3.5 mm adapter now, but one person told me something about that it uses double phone power... and i noticed that its uncomfortable with my edit: headset in bed. Cant go down on right or left side. But i think i could learn to relax when sitting straight or lying down straight and then it would be comfortable. When you learn to relax any position can be comfortable. : )
