Latest firmware for this monitor is a big improvement. 1016.2 has now upgraded the Ultimate Freesync settings to the range of 48-144Hz. Very happy with this monitor and the continued support Samsung has done on the firmware side.
Did you have to use a certain file system or directory structure to upgrade the firmware? I can't it can't it to find the .BIN file. Even though I'm following their directions to the T! Super Frustrating. I tried NTFS and FAT32
Used FAT32 on a 4GB USB 2.0 drive, making sure to put it in USB slot 1 on the monitor. Make sure you have the right bin file for your model, there are different ones for the 32" and the 27".
Hi, is it true the monitor support G-sync also after latest Nvidia driver ? Some monitors are compatible, i read from a customer reviewer g-sync works. If so this is the best bargain of a monitor ever. I have the smaller cf73. Will get this one :)
Great video. No faff, no shots of you mug every 2 seconds and instead focussed on the actual product we came here to see. I’m getting mine delivered in a couple of days, albeit I’m joining the gang about 3 years later but this is still widely regarded as one of the top 3 gaming monitors.
I just got this monitor at 27" and I am very pleased with it's performance. It was updated to the latest firmware so it was fully supporting my Vega 56 and Freesync 2 hdr. The only con I could find was that the stand if about twice as deep as most stands. Granted, this depth allows for vertical adjustment but it is exactly like Techy describes. Buy a vesa monitor stand and you are good to go for 40 bucks.
I returned the 34" LG Ultra Wide (forgot the ridiculous model name) for the 32" model of this monitor. I could not be happier to have spent the extra $200, the difference is night and day!
One of the best gaming Monitor in 144 hz ! Very good Monitor for the players but missing some options like more connections ( HUB USB, DVI ...). But take the C27FG73 version is almost the same but the panel is slightly better and the base is less imposing and more manageable. Panel VA pixel QLED,350 cd/m²,Moving Picture Response Time 1 MS, setting OSD very well designed, curved monitor,Flicker free, eye saver,FreeSync, adjustable base and especially the price! Between the Acer 27" LED - Predator Z271Tbmiphz that costs 723 dollars and Samsung cost 437 dollars about 280 dollars more, this samsung has a better value for money. and the only difference between monitor is on one side the G-Sync and the other FreeSync, it's expensive to pay for G-Sync technology if not for the acer predator is a slab/panel VA 4ms 300cd / m², 1080p ( Resolution as the Samsung C27FG73) Specifications are slightly lower than Samsung monitor except for features like HUB and connectors. At the price of expensive Acer Predator, I will rather choose the samsung C27HG70 panel VA pixel QLED 1ms Wqhd, HDR 1Ms ... The C27HG70 costs about the same price as the ACER predator is about 750 dollars.
@@userg7196 I'm still using DVI with my GTX 1070, but only because I haven't upgraded my 4 year old 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor. This port isn't dead quite yet (especially when NVIDIA has it on the brand new RTX 2060) but it's obsolete no doubt.
The main difference for me in these 2 Samsung monitors is the resolution. 1440p is necessary in anything 27'+. I went from a 22' 1080p to a 27' 1080p, and everything just looked blocky and honestly just awful. you're sacrificing size for quality and that's not a good trade in my opinion. I sent it back and I'm strongly considering this monitor.
This was an Awesomeness video. I am thinking of getting this for Christmas. Can you imagine 3 of them together. Awesomeness hands down. You sir have a new subscriber.
I happen to agree sir. I spent weeks going back and forth over different monitors, but when I saw an open box special for this on Amazon, there was no question. Never before have I been more satisfied with a piece of computer hardware than with this monitor. Like you mentioned, simply stunning and elegant, with high performance under the hood.
better 32gk850 ips from LG, because of flat screen and no problems with smeary text or purple ghosting and vertical vieving angles is much better then va
Awesome, awesome, awesome review! Made my purchase just now because of your video. Super pumped. Im going from a 4k 60hz TN panel, headed down in resoultion, but up in hz. Ive heard so many good things about 144hz i cant resist anymore i have to try it myself. Too bad 4k 144hz arent around yet. This monitor seems like the best of it all to pair with my 1080ti, cant wait :)
Unfortunately PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is being used to control the backlight in Samsung C32HG70, so this monitor is blinking/flickering when users reduce the monitor brightness. Therefore, it can cause headache and eye strain. Using PWM to control the backlight of a monitor is a cheap way. For more information read these pages. www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=1362457985 www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/samsung_c32hg70.htm
I noticed this after using mine for about 3 or 4 days, I also had an issue with the leds flickering on black colors, it would look like a snow storm to some extent, hard to explain it, but you could see the light cycling behind the screen.. Backlight bleed was atrocious....
Actually the only thing I resally want from a monitor is for the colors to really pop out. And what I mean by that is that red really looks red like on samsung AMOLED smartphones. Even if it looks unrealistic as I am not a photoshopper. In this case, am I then better off with a IPS panel or a VA panel? I have had IPS before but never used a VA panel so I don't have anything to compare it to.
I have the CFG73 (24 inch) and its sRGB mode is pretty spot-on. Not good enough that I'd say that professionals should be using it, but good enough that amateur photographers should have no problem with this monitor calibrated.
I previously had an ips display and was thinking about getting this, but I was afraid of the ghosting issue. I also once had a curved monitor that had weird lighting problems as a result of the curvature of the screen. glad to see those problems are not present here
My LG is crapping the bed Grey blacks. 14ms standard response time. And terrible hdr support. I've been leaning towards this for a while. Cant wait to get one set up.
2007suprasport I see you posted this awhile ago, did you get one for your one x ? And if so are you happy with it? I'm considering getting one for mine.
Brad Ennis its garbage according to amazon reviews. Only 12zones so hdr is useless Clouding and bleeding is very annoying especially in very black pictures (iA loading screens) The white is supposed to be yellowish and it only is 250cdm2
Erkin that is only at the fastest response times/refresh rates. At lower refresh rates it can achieve over 600nits. There are plenty of good reviews of this out there, is it perfect for HDR? No, but for gaming it is pretty amazing, not as expensive as that Nvidia BS, much faster than a TV.
According to VESA, this monitor is HDR600 certified, which is the 3rd best HDR you can get, second only to HDR1000. And Now I have it, and sure enough, the colors.... I can't go back to non HDR displays ever again.
It looks better with HDR off, if you ask me - at least in the example provided. However, everything else about it is really, really nice. This seems like the kind of monitor I could use both to play games, watch movies and work, write emails, a little bit of code and angry youtube comments. The bezels are small enough, I think they're targetting single monitors users. I think I would like it next to 24-27" inch monitor placed in portrait mode next to it, for browsing the web while another application is maximized on the CHG70.
Im also getting for the new Xbox but ill be getting the 27 inch since one of my experienced friends said that too big of a monitor can cause an opera effect
How is there no blacklight bleed/VA glow/clouding for the LED's around the edge of the panel? I've tested several of these panels (returned them) and all of them had bright spots!
I'm sorry I couldn't hear you clearly in the video. Is this monitor's HDR implementation good? I know a lot of people say it's not true HDR and 8 local dimming zones and whatnot but when playing HDR games, they do look better, right?
You are running 70% brightness in standard response time in this video, and there is no flicker (except when you enable strobing modes). Does the standard response time stay flicker free all the way down to 0%? The C32HG70 is flickering at below 95% brightness, so this is good news.
I haven't actually double checked but I believe it does stay flicker free - I was using it as my main monitor for a week or so with it set to 14% brightness and I didn't notice any flicker. Samsung also claims the backlight is completely flicker-free unless strobing is turned on.
Yes I can confirm this now that I got the monitor - it stays flicker free throughout the whole brightness range. Sadly I got the "knuckle drag" distorted arcs on dark background that some people complained about in newegg and reddit, so I sent it back. Going to give it another go after I get my money back.
you always see pictures of hdr being bright and colorfull , then when i see someone turn it on like you just did , the monitor just turns in to a dark over-saturated mess after turning it on ... do you turn up the brightness and turn down the color ? or does it look ok on the monitor itself ?
It's over saturated stock , but adjust it and you'll be fine One of the best monitors for the money , hands down There are enough manual controls to really dial in a great picture.
How do I enable HDR on my CHG70 ? It's greyed out on windows 10, games say that the monitor doesn't support it and there are no options on the OSD... please help.
@@antonistuart2408 For me, since I have a GTX 980 Ti, the issue was that I can only use the HDR mode through HDMI, and I was using a DisplayPort cable, so check your GPU's compatibility with HDR online. Don't even bother though, the monitor only has like 6 local dimming zones, which, if that's what you're mentioning as grey, well, there you have it. HDR looks far worse than SDR on a monitor like this. 6 local dimming zones makes highlights and shadows/shades look flat. And, although there is a lot more detail in the colours, which I appreciate, it makes everything look so flat that I'd rather play in SDR instead. I'm very dissapointed with the monitor.
@@Melibond64 thanks I’ll check to see if that’s the issue I’m running it on a 1660 so I’m not to sure but at that point I would rather just run it on a display port
Should I get this or the MSI Optix MAG27CQ? They are both around the $400 dollar price tag right now. The thicker bezel on this makes me want to get the MSI, but the Quantom Dot on this makes me want the Samsung.
I have the same monitor but with 32" with latest firmware. After a 2-3 years (now) when i start PC maybe when monitor is cold, some times at the bottom of the screen left to right i see lines (green?) and after 2-3 minutes disappear and the monitor continue without problems. I test other ports (hdmi-display port )with external TV and is the same. So it's not a PC problem. Maybe the power source of the TV ? I tried also to reset to factory the monitor with no changes. Anyone knows why this happening ?
It's debatable, a lot of individuals that complain about IPS glow haven't calibrated their IPS's. I have both a XB270HU and a PG279Q in this house both are currently the best IPS gaming panels available. Neither have IPS glow after calibration. Both have their brightness set to 100 out of the box (which yes you will see IPS glow because the backlight is being driven to oblivion.) VA has better contrast so the colors appear more rich in most scenes. However VA smears blacks/darks really bad under motion. If you watch the video you can even see it when he's playing counter strike if you look closely. Watch between 5:51 to 5:52 when he scopes in on the player running the player blurs out considerably. I will say it like this if you play horror games, watch movies, or play games with low motion requirements this is a fantastic monitor. If you're competitive and prefer absolute speed buy the 240 Hz TN (although it's colors will look awful.) If you prefer a blend buy one of the monitors like I use the XB270HU/PG279Q and calibrate them and you won't have IPS glow nor will your blacks be bland. Also, as stated in this video the PG27UQ/X27 are coming out which are 4k IPS, 10 bit, full array local dimming HDR with 144 Hz. Secondly, the 35" VA's PG35VQ/X35 will be 3440 x 1440 10 bit, 200 Hz full array local dimming with HDR. All of these will be priced well into the 1~2k$ range, but visual quality wise they will destroy this monitor as 8 zone backlights cannot compete with 386 (27",) 512 backlights (35".)
Bought this one, all GREAT except this little things: - if I plug the USB stick into the monitor or my cellphone, it won't run at all as it does when I plug it in my PC directly, so the phone is fast charging but not showing at the computer. Would be nice if these two things would work
Alex Bird that’s because you need to plug the usb a to b cable from the monitor to the pc. The plug is shown at 2:27 in the video on the right of the two usb slots. It’s blue.
Hello. Please tell me what monitor is better to buy this AOC C24G1 or Samsung C24FG73FQI. Which one is better in the picture, in colors and in General?
what about smeary text or purple ghosting, vertical viewing angles,(flat screen, but it is only issue when you are engineer, circles is not round and exel rows actually curved), I am waiting for 32gk850 from LG, what is perfect for me at this point.
Thinking of buying this or LG 34UC98-W. My playing wil be DS3 and FF15 when it comes on PC. I love the LG because it would also replace my TV and be simply awesome when watching movies. Clearly wins this one for movie watching bc of the wideness. The only thing is I don't know if my rx 480 even OC'd can get to the freesync range in LG (55-75Hz) when playing titles like DS3 and FF15 in 1440p. I have no idea how much more gpu power ultrawides need over normal benchmark monitors in same res. Thoughts about these two monitors and their comparability?
I had the chg70 32" monitor.. Be aware of this monitor having an issue when powering back on... It would not power back on after the computer was off for an extended period of time, over an hour.. I would have to unplug it and plug it back in to reset it.. I also had an issue with the leds flickering on black colors, it would look like a snow storm to some extent, hard to explain it, but you could see the light cycling in the pixels. Backlight glow was atrocious and not uniform at all.... I sent it back for a refund..
If you leave HDR turned on would it be 600nit brightness all the time? or is it only brighter when using HDR content? Also do you have to use HDMI for HDR or can you use DP? (bought mine today but wont arrive till next week).
I have this screen, quality pretty good, design pretty good, sofware good, image out of the box bad, way to bright and need colour adusting to get the right colors, 144hz awsome, overdrive is a setting the old model didnt had and its very good and can give you a edge in FPS fames and make the game looks like playng in the old crt´s with no display lag, but you compromisse some image quality when set to too hight due to inverse ghosting at hight levels but every 144hz does thay, ideally for single player games use 0 or 20, you are able to save diferent video presets for diferent games wich is very usefull, If you guys read the amazon reviews the best rated monitor is the viewsonic 144hz, but where I live we don´t have that brand, still pretty happy with my monitor 144Hz gave me a BIG skill improvement, I played in a 10 y old tft screen, lots of tearing, display lag and was hard to aim tbh, at 144 with lo lag, its smooth and my aim improved a lot, so ye pretty happy my only con problably is the gamma values that doesn´t seem right to me, but no option to tweak, to conclude good monitor if you have the viewsonic where you live at comparable prices get it instead, and this monitor is slighy better then the old model.
When i watch the hdr videos on RU-vid with the HDR mode on, the videos are colorless very washed out. I have an xfx rx 580 I tried everything 10 bit 4:4:4 its just not working. Has anyone had this issue before maybe the Unite i got is bad or maybe CPU Ryzan 5 1400. Can someone help me with this issue please
How far forward does the monitor have to be on the desk because of the stand? I’m worried I’m not going to have enough space on my desk to fit it in but can’t find anywhere how far forward the stand makes the monitor sit at?
do you have a color calibrator to check the actual % youre getting from this? I cant believe that this is 92% aRGB that doesn't even see feasible when every single other panel on the market for this price point can barely scrape at 70%.
Yup, measured with an Xrite iDisplay Pro (not the most sophisticated colorimeter on the market but plenty good enough for telling the difference between 70% and 90% aRGB).
I got the 32" version of this a few days ago. So far I'm loving it, though I ditched the stand for a clamp on my desk adjustable arm display. The one I got though I wish it had better tilt support, you really have to crank it down hard with a Allen wrench to get it to hold the monitor up and keep it from drooping down. I just didn't want the stand to take up too much of my desk. The monitor itself is pretty great. I was using a Asus 144Hz Freesync gaming monitor before this one. The "ASUS MG278Q WQHD, 1ms 27-Inch FreeSync Gaming Monitor" which is a TN display so Samsung display is nicer picture I think. The curve is cool as well getting use to it but I like it. The Freesync 2 support I'm not sure how good it works as there is no way to tell with this one, the Asus one I could turn on a FPS OSD that would show me how the frames were syncing as I played, it had a 35Hz to 144Hz Freesync range also. I read in the comment below this one has a small range but I can't find any documentation to prove that from Samsung. Actually using it to play games its great that's my personal opinion compared to the Asus one I had it seems to be just as smooth with a nicer display over the TN. I'm running 2 Fury X cards right now but going to have a RX Vega 64 liquid cooled card mid week I want to see how that does since it supports the better HDMI and Displayport speeds.
This monitor definitely has a better display than the Asus, and i don't even have to look at them side by side. How is the 32' though? I'm gonna be upgrading from 23.5 inches I was thinking 27 inches, but 32 would be nuts. Does it take a long time to get use to? Also do you notice pixels with such a big screen?
F1N1SHEDD I have noticed the pixels not being as clear as on a 27 inch, it's a small difference though to your eyes as you will probably sit back a little bit more from the 32. But after a few days I got used to it. I'm sure the 27 is great but I had a 2560x1440 27" for about 4 years so I am liking the 32 with the curve you feel like you see the whole screen. Even if the HDR is not that great this round. The rest of the monitor is great. Newegg has it on sale right now.
Yea i know! I've been looking at this monitor for over a month daily on different sites. I was gonna wait for black Friday / Cyber Monday to order it. But i don't see it getting much cheaper than 520 for the 27'. I might just buy it on impulse right now!
F1N1SHEDD its had a couple nice firmware updates. One just yesterday even that adds the ability to see your free sync numbers. I just got my RX Vega 64 Liquid today as well. I was right that having a Dispayport 1.4 output on the video card definitely works better with this monitor. I had a Fury X and it didn't detect HDR half the time.
does it come with a display port cable? ALl i have is a dvi cable, btw i ordered it. No regrets 500+ tax. Nice card, i'll see what the future has but for now i'm chilling with my nvidia card.
I'm going to buy this monitor... If they make the next cod 120 fps on Xbox. This monitor has freesync 2 and actually isn't true HDR. You need 1,000 nits. This monitor doesn't come with speakers. It has a 10 bit pannel. Those are just some things you missed
120hz helps even with 60fps games, basically cuts the input lag in half. This monitor will be really really good on all Xbox One games at 120hz, so no worries about 60fps vs 120fps!
So I have a question: I currently have the Acer XG270HU, a 1440p, 144hz, 1ms TN panel. If I switched it for this monitor, what would the response time difference be? Perhaps I heard wrong, but it kinda sounded like there was a "but" or a con when you bump it up to 144hz 1ms response time. Would would I be losing out on by switching??
Have u experienced any problem so far? I bought the same monitor but i got question marks in my mind. I wanna use it through 3 - 4 years minimum. Do u suggest this monitor for me?
sir I have CFG73 model, 24 inch. But I can't on freesync though I have Radeon RX580 with updated driver and also, when I connect with dp cable, after booting the screen become dark. so can you please suggest me what to do ??
@@djsahilking3807 thank you for your response Sir. I try today with hdmi 2.0 and also update the firmware but nothing happens. Here I have noticed a difference. When I connect with HDMI, the light on motherboard is remain white while it should be green. White means VGA according to my motherboard (asus ROG B450F) manual and when I connect with DP cable, after booting the light goes off. I don't know why this happen ???
@@IGThePhoenix maybe issue is on motherboard have you with other pc I mean laptop or other GPU and if it not work that call Samsung service center maybe they can help you 😁😁
@@djsahilking3807 Thank You bro. I was checking this from today morning and at last I fixed it. don't know the reason why this happened. but now I connect my monitor with pc via DP cable and I have not freesync enabled 144 Hz monitor. also when DP cable was connected to port 1 on the monitor, the screen was black. but if anyone has the same issue, then please remove the DP cable first with keep the cpu on. wait for 1 minute and plug in to port 2 on the monitor. and your screen will show.
Use Standard instead of Ultimate Freesync to resolve this, i also experience ghosting in some gaming situations also get the latest firmware, hope this works FYI im using the same monitor. www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/LC27HG70QQUXEN/#downloads
Due to latest drivers n vidia you can have g sync compatibility...with my samsung 32hg70 i have no problem in games with g sync compatibility mode.(2080ti gpu)
Another reviewer said this moniter has noticable backlight uniformity issues on an all black screen? (Backlightbleed) I got the new asus pg279q and had to return it due to this same issue and have ever since been looking for somthing with good blacks. Does this moniter suffer from backlight bleed?
Are there any better or comparable options now? (November 2018). I’m about to pulling the trigger on this one but I just don’t know if I’ll like the curved display
Julián Magni The curved display is a marmite feature, I like it but others don’t. If you do get it it’s currently £150 off the 27 inch and £100 off the 32 inch on Amazon so I’d be getting it soon as it’s only a Black Friday deal
To point a few flaws: Feet too wide, can't use vertical multi-screen side by side Flicker exist by rtings test result Useless back side design cost should be spent on 90s style border
