With the jump to Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Flip 4, Samsung gives us a flat-folding hinge, a cheeky performance upgrade and apps on the cover screen. The choice between the new Flip 5 and the previous Flip 4 can pretty much be summed up in that thesis sentence. Samsung's not rocking the boat too much here. But the Flip 5 is, for my money, by far the most interesting of the new Galaxy handsets this year. Here's why!

Overall, Samsung has better software and security update support, better pre order deals (storage upgrade/free buds or watch) and more customizable cover screen using Good Lock

Its actually a pretty good improvement. I like it being able to fully close flat now, and the larger outer display is alot better too

I have the s21 ultra and was looking forward to s24 ultra. But I have been intrigued by Flip. This edition looks worthy. Would you upgrade s21 to Flip 5?

same battery and bigger screen should result in less autonomy. same camera. flip 4 around 30% cheaper now...well, i got myself a 4.

I have a question. I'd like to play games in mobiles probably pubg, cod or something. If i am playing with four fingers does it folds by itself? Or does it make uncomfortable to paly these kinds of games?

Am in the uk and have flip z4 phone so thinking of trading this in. It says ill get 430 pounds trade in and if i pre order ill get 512 for 254. So would it be worth this? Whats the catch??

UK Trade in from Samsung = my mint condition Flip 4 512gb £440 + £100 not much incentive for a bigger cover screen so £1149 minus £540 = £609 to pay:(

It's the trade in deals and price for me. I could spend hundreds on a Razr or get the Flip 5 for like 50 bucks with a recent trade in.

None of these makes any sense. This form factor is absolutely pointless as it doesn't really provide a usable experience when closed and when open it's just the same oversized featureless garbage but with a far more fragile plastic screen with a visible and noticeable fold.

The Flip phones are aimed at the self obsessed selfie takers. They aren’t for general use batches the cameras aren’t great, the battery life is below average and the outer screen is a gimmick, especially if you use a smart watch. If you do want a phone to take photos of yourself and friends with, then this is for you.

This phone is no different that flip phones back in the day its a preference. Years ago you had the option of having a non flip phone nokia that works fine or join the hipters that own razr flip phones. History repeats its self. Its not for everyone, but it is for me im a hipster.

@@stratolestele7611 yes seriously, they want too much for the exact phones they gave us last year. I hate to say it, but the Chinese foldables leave Samsung in the dust. Bigger batteries, better cameras, wider front screens, and faster charging both wired and wireless. Oh, and less of a crease too.

Not at all! My wife enjoys the Flip because of the compact form factor when going out. I like the Folding design because it allows me to have a larger screen with me without having to bring a tablet along. Of course I am older and the eyes aren't what they used to be.......
