Never thought of working on my drowned and dead A71 until I came across this - a year later! Absolutlely clear and invaluable video-. Phone now working again for the cost of a new charger board. Many many thanks!
Well done. I have an A71 and I went to Ubreakit Ifixit and one other place that Virgin Mobile bought out and nobody said it could be fixed. PROBLEM: Phone body bent from being in a back pocket. Everything works EXCEPT the sound. There is no way I could attempt what you have done as I have 2 left hands. This video is extremely professional.
Watching this in preparation for doing a battery replacement. Had mine since May 2020 and the battery has degraded to the point I can't get through a full day, will probably upload it so should be fun!
Hey man great vid, really helpful and saved my phone from when I dropped it in the toilet, or so it seems haha. I've put it back together but it looks like I'll need to redo the back plate with new adhesive. Is there a particular type to use? I'm a massive newbie.
For best results you can order a precut adhesive that is made for your phone or buy a new back plate that has the adhesive pre installed. Here is a link for a pre cut adhesive www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Samsung-Galaxy-A71-SM-A715-Battery-Cover-Adhesive-GH02-20352A/333647076734?hash=item4daeea5d7e:g:Pt8AAOSwusdfA6gD or you can search online other places to see if you can find it cheaper. The backplates with adhesive run around $30-40 on ebay from what I saw. If not, you can buy a roll of adhesive like 300lse or smartphone red tape but those wont be as good as the precut ones since you need to cut it yourself and wont have an all around seal.
Great vid! Tried removing the back cover of my A71 because i wanted to replace it with another color. But I broke the orange sticker at the bottom. I dont know what this is for... 😭 so much for DIY
Thanks! The orange sticker is an antenna flex cable. If you tore it you would probably need one of these replacement parts (mid frame housing) to replace it. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=galaxy+a71+replacement+mid+frame+housing&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=galaxy+a71+replacement&_osacat=0
Depends, some screens come pre installed with adhesive and some don't. Or some come with the adhesive for you to install but all depends on where you get it from and if the seller states it comes with it or not. If not you would need to use something like 300lse adhesive or smartphone red tape, but the precut adhesives which usually come installed or included with the screens always work best.
Great video thanks. Very clear. I managed to change the charging board on mine and it can now charge again :). However, now the phone hardly picks up any mobile signal (1 bar or no bars). What might cause this? Damaged antenna or sim reader?
Make sure all the cables are connected properly and also the sub board (charging board) and motherboard are seated properly since they have antenna contacts on them which touch parts of the frame for signal. Also make sure the charging board you bought is the same model for your phone since it has antenna contacts on it which can very from model to model. As well as aftermarket ones might not be as good as original ones. A71 and A71 5G would vary in board type.
Hey! I got some water Drops my A71. It still works but it have some water in the camera lens, so what should we do. We brought it to an Handydoctor but he said he don't want to do it. I saw in this vid that you open it at the back. Actually I could open it that way too and just dry the water drops away. Would that be possible?
Hi, yea you can pry the back off and dry out any moisture inside. (After disconnecting the battery cable) Make sure to dry out any left over water or moisture inside the phone also to prevent any shorts or damage to the parts. You can also use a tooth brush or small brush to brush off any corrosion around chips or connectors. And then you can use a new adhesive strip, (Link for adhesive strip: amzn.to/3xOuNEr ) or a new battery door cover with the adhesive strip pre installed (Link: amzn.to/3vQgWvG ) to re-seal the back.
Thanks to this video I was able to open my phone and I'm now drying it in rice. It fell in water for 1-2 seconds about 1 hour ago and a few minutes later the touch screen wasn't working. I initially thought it would be very difficult to open it because from the outside it has no screws etc but it turns out it was much more easier. Will wait for 48 hours for it to dry before I can report any results.
make sure to disconnect the battery cable, brush off any corrosion on chips or connectors with a small brush like a tooth brush, and then re assemble the phone so you don't risk shorting the phone.
@@PBKreviews I just tried the phone and it seems to work perfectly well now 🎉 I'll monitor for a few hours to see if battery heats up or any other anomalies. But as of now it works perfectly. Thanks for the video which enabled me to open it and for the advice ✨👍
The top of my phone seems to have gotten water damaged, At first I didn’t realize it and used it for a round a day before it completely died…Am I screwed or should I try this?
Whats that thing called above the selfie cam? I mean with that the thing that protects that room above the selfie cam from dust. My thing got off and I want to get another one back on but I dont know the name off it please help me If you can thanks
So I cracked the camera glass on the rear. In your video it looks like when taking off the back panel the camera lens cover came off in one piece. So is that replaceable by itself because looking at replacement back covers, none seem to include that lens cover. In other videos it looks like there is a separate cover that insets into the bezel frame. Any insight would be appreciated
What do you think about its material and build quality ? Is it easy to bend ?! Is it just like the a51 or it's a litte bit better cause it's more expensive than a51 and there's a video claims that a51 build quality and material are very bad and easy to bend ,burn and break !! Is that true !!?
I think its very similar to the a51, just has better specs. It is not a bad build quality but its not the best either. However its an easy disassembly process so thats a big plus because repairs would be much more simple compared to many other phones. The phone wont bend if someone doesn't on purpose use all their force to bend it, so in real practical all day use should be fine.
My a71 got overheated and now the screen has a wierd green or yellowish tint on low brightness, the problem went away for a week but it came back and areas on the screen that should be black are dark brown, can you please tell me which part of the phone got damaged from the overheating?
great tutorial, but after disassembling my copy, you can not see anything that would be damaged. There is a black screen all the time. If it was a whack, the display would react at least by a buzzer or a diode, vibration, anything. Nothing reacts. Charged 24 hours, I have no idea what fell in it. The screen appears intact. Could it be a motherboard or a battery? What would you advise to mention on this model?
Hi, sometimes hairline cracks in the corners of the screen which you can't see prevent the screen from operating at all. If it happened after a drop, that may be the problem. Aside from that if you haven't spilled any liquid on the phone or anything else, maybe a bad battery or it may also be a bricked (bad firmware) motherboard. You can always test with a working screen to plug the connector to the board and see if it is the screen or not, or same with the battery.
How did you get the pry tool between the screen and mid-frame? There's no gap to slip the tool into. In the video, it looks like you already started with a huge gap. I tried with all my might, but couldn't get a gap. This is an A71 5G, so it may be slightly different, but probably not... EDIT: Actually, looking at a few scratched parts of the mid-frame, it looks like it's metal.
Hi, you can use a suction cup tool or if you don't have one, a thin metal tool or razor (but this would probably scratch up your frame a bit) to get in between, then you can make leverage to get your pry tool in.
You can search for " galaxy a71 power flex " on ebay and you will see listings, they run from $10 to $15 etc and keep in mind there are a few difference versions. You would need to buy the one for the model number of your phone since they differ in flex cable contact points.
It might be possible not 100% sure since I would need to have both batteries on hand and the phone to see if the battery will fit in the battery compartment, but the connector seems to be in the same area and same type of connector so as far as connecting the battery it seems would be possible. But not sure if it will fit inside the frame/battery compartment area
My brother has a problem with his A71. The cellphone does not recognize the cable when you insert it into it. Microphone and P2 working, just the charging port seems to not work. With a lot of struggle, the phone recognizes the cable. Fast charging is not working anymore, but normal charging does. I think the charging port is having some short circuit or it is badly connected. What are your thoughts about it?
Sounds like its possible the charger port itself has gone bad and the charger port board would need to be replaced which has the charger port soldered onto it.
Maybe you should do a disclamer of that a battery removal without a pull tap and that much adhesive could be dangerous when you bend/puncture the battery on accident.
I have an a71, it broke 2 days ago. Its brand new though. See, it the screen went black for a couple of minutes, then it came back on. I checked everything. The buttons, the camera and the screen. Everything was ok. Until i went to charge it. It wont charge. I tried using other cables, and other chargers, it wouldnt work. What do you think the problem here is?
I have a Samsung Galaxy A71 5G that is giving me problems. The battery discharges very quickly and does not pick up Wi-Fi signals. From what I could see in the video, the battery can be identified, but it was not clear to me where the part that is responsible for the Wi-Fi signals is.
My fast charging stopped working on my a71..it charges still but takes 6 hours instead of 1 and was wondering how I can fix this and what it would be? Battery or charge port or something else? 🤔
For a heat gun that can be adjusted for temperature, what temperature do you suggest so as to not melt the phone or burn up what's inside? Perhaps 80C? (ish) ??
It varies from material and phone so not sure exactly but just don't hold it in one place and move it around enough so its hot enough to the touch. I prefer to use a hair dryer since there is less risk in damaging anything and it heats it up more evenly.
They are both fairly simple to do repairs on, the S10 Lite back cover is a bit harder to pry off since it has stronger water resistant adhesive. But I would say the S10 Lite has an overall stronger frame/build quality.
Hi, no there is no room in the compartment to be able to fit a larger battery nor is it guaranteed that the connector on a different battery would match and work with the connector on the motherboard of the phone.
Sad that it does not have any kind of cooling. Vapor chamber or the one like those on Xiaomi phones. But does it really matter to A71? Asking because I want to buy this. And I game a for long hours of time using mostly 4G connection and rarely wifi.
It should work fine for you, it might not stay as cool as some other phones but should still not cause any issues. However it's not a high end gaming phone so all depends on what type of games you plan on playing. :)
Its splash proof but not waterproof. You can have splashes of water and get away with it but if you submerge it in water you will probably damage the phone. It doesn't have an official ip rating but does have a good seal on the back plate as well as gaskets around the connectors but other parts of the phone can allow water and and get damaged.
@@R8V10 It is not even splash proof...I would recommend a waterproof case for it....Mine broke after I got caught in a bit of rain for 5 minutes....and it was in my pocket... Really cheap product...be carefull with it!
Mine absolutely died 12 months into the 24 month warranty. It started to repeat through start-up, then vibrated almost nonstop and then no sign of life. Samsung repair tech says it's a motherboard issue. I have no idea so I am curious to know where physically is all my lost information held and is it indeed lost?
hello. i hope you can reply to this, is there a part of the phone that can get disconnect if you drop the phone? i drop my phone yesterday and the phone does not turn on even on recovery mode and etc. thank you if you can reply to this. also, what happens when the sub board and mainboard get disconnected with each other?
Yes, its possible the battery cable can become disconnected from the main board or more often it happens that the screen itself gets a hairline crack somewhere in the corner that is very hard to see and that rendered the screen unusable and it does not show anything. You can try using a strong light against the screen to look for any hairline cracks in it. Sub board getting disconnected from the main board on this phone would also make the screen not work since the screen cable connect to the sub board and gets signal from the main board through the sub board.
@@JoseLopez-uc2hn nah, It wasn't disconnected, the screen still got the white line caused by the impact. I just brought it to a 3rd partg repair store and all he did was do something with electricity to the phone and it turned on, paid $3 tho. Bringing it on a service center costs way too much, I'll just stick with this, the phones performance isn't affected so ye🤷♂️
Take the phone apart, disconnect the battery cable, dry out any liquid inside and use a small brush like a tooth brush to brush off any corrosion on chips or connectors. Then re assemble and test to see if you can get it working. If not, its possible some parts like the screen or battery may have gone bad and would require to be changed and worst case the board might have gone bad and would not be worth attempting to fix.
I would say it would withstand splashes, and it does have rubber gaskets around the battery connector and few other places but the adhesive on the back plate didn't seem the same as those on water resistant devices that I have seen, so I would not risk dunking it in water to test. But it does have water resistant features just not sure how resistant it would be :)
no, its adhesive. You can use 300LSE or smartphone red tape or other types of smartphone adhesives. Usually most replacement back panels come with adhesive pre installed
The main part that heats up would be the processor on the main board. Other parts also heat up, like the battery, screen, antenna ports at times, cameras etc.
I keep losing wifi connectivity on my phone, ive done everything software wise to fix the problem including a hard reset. It's still losing WIFI connectivity, hardware wise where is the wifi antenna or what Coul cause this issue?
You would need to check and make sure that white wire cable is connected and has not come off which connects the sub board to the main board, and also the back plastic housing which has antenna flex cables on it would need to be checked to make sure all screws are fastened down in place and have not come loose or the back housing has not lifted up anywhere and come loose since those flex cables need to touch gold contacts on the board to get signal.
Battery part was hard but i realized i was replacing the lcd. Turns out, i could just remove all the boards and remove the battery without the worry of ruining the previous lcd back 😈😈😈
the samsung A71 will be supported until android 12.Therefore you will get another year of just security updates/bug fixes.worth looking into it,since my s9 Will die with android 10.
What do you mean hidden frame? if you mean your screen is not displaying anything, then it might be a damaged display chip or resistor somewhere on the board.
@@PBKreviews hey thx for answer ❤️ Sorry I meant inside not hiding. It is bent when falling. But is it still worth repairing the smartphone if you have to replace the chip?
