I got the Galaxy Buds in the Pre-Order Bundle with my S10+, and I have to say, I was very much positively surprised! Having tried out other bluetooth inears their audio quality is really good.
To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. ru-vid.comUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.
@@lunarleaf The old ones were less cartoony. Just a picture of the product and a comment. Simple, mature and professional. If you'd show your parents a review of a product and they see those thumbnails, their attention will have plummeted and their opinion will be less affected.

Ikr? I'm one of the oldheads who still downloads my own music and the bass/volume/bitrate quality difference is insane. Spotify sounds like I'm listening to a low-quality demo, especially noticeable when blasting music in the car.
@@tobo21m When you say way more expensive, how much more? I already think spotify's expensive for what it is but hey I want to at least try it to see the difference :P
CoKane TIDAL is double the Price. But that‘s not it. The app is worse and the Music selection is smaller too. However, you can test both alternatives for free. Qobuz costs arround 25bucks a month but offers even higher quality than TIDAL...so high even, that without unlimited data I would download my songs haha. In Addition to music bitrate the hardware you listen on is also VERY important (Headphones and DAC). If you want to know more, watch the Hi-Fi Audio Episode from Techquickie. Writing this stuff down is too much hassle for me today😂
@@tobo21m You know what? I think I'll just stick to my oldschool method 😂 I forgot to mention I'm from Australia so even if I could get it here it'd be an extra 30-50% just from conversion rates lmao Honestly lately I've just been using Spotify premium whenever they offer me 3 months for the price of 1 and only use it to find new music. But damn is it convenient esp when I want songs that can't be purchased/downloaded the normal way so I have to rip it off RU-vid or wherever the fk I find it and edit all the tags, move it to the right folder, etc.
I own apple airpods and the samsung ones literally shit on them, I love the aesthetic of the apple products but they are just so expensive and generally of poorer quality
For some reason I cannot use buds with that shape, only buds with a shape similar to the apple ones (or the old samsung jack headsets) fit well in my ear, that new trend where they actually put it INSIDE your ear hurts me as hell. So these galaxy buds are a big no for me sadly :(
apple purposely cripples 3rd party BT devices so youre forced to buy their own first party and licenced products, thats why they made up this bullshit w1 chip
girlsdrinkfeck Any source of proof for that allegation? I use tons of Bluetooth devices from Anker, Bose to cheap Chinese Bluetooth dongles with my iPhone and had never had problems with latency. The w1 chip is mainly about the pairing process and low energy consumption and not about latency.
girlsdrinkfeck If you make arguments that you can’t back up with facts than it’s better to just make no argument at all. There’s no reason to make up some fantasy flaws when there are actual flaws with a product that you could criticize without making yourself look uninformed like the “one size for all ears”-design or the bad repairability. Apple doesn’t claim the W1 chip to make it superior in latency, it’s just enabling an easier pairing process with iPhones and it’s just a name for the chip they build into their audio hardware. Saying the W1 chip is a “con” just because it has a name is like saying the intel core i5 is a “con”. Other manufacturers can build great chips as well, no doubt of that. I sincerely doubt that you ever tested the AirPods firsthand and while I wouldn’t personally buy them there’s no reason for me to hate people that do. Everybody should buy what he likes best.
I've been on the fence about them, mainly because of how little charge the charging case has compared to other TW earphones. Maybe I'll wait for a revision with bigger battery, my current one has about 14 hours and it's a cheap one.
@@DrArcular Because I work long hours and use them pretty much the whole shift. Might have just enough juice if I charge them during my breaks but Idk. I want them really badly, just the battery I'm not sure is enough without having to be constantly charging them.
Would have been better to test them with other Android phones, with just the Pixel 3 you can't generalize and say the problems are across all non Samsung devices, how do you know the glitches are not a problem with the Pixel 3?
Lmao when Samsung makes earphones that only work with Samsung devices it's bad but when the Apple Watch, Airpods, and Air Drop only work with iPhones it's an ecosystem

S9/Note 9 had awful latency for games until Android Pie. However, connection with some AAC wireless earbuds is not very reliable. Astrotec S60 cuts out every 5-6 minutes using AAC, Jabra Elite 65t does to a very small extent as well.
I tried a €19 pair of bluetooth5 buds from China (QCY T1). The sound quality is not perfect but it's not bad at all. Any Oreo+ phone can display the level of charge, they automatically power on and off when you put in and out of their case, and you can long-press the button to run Google Assistant. Cheap earbuds have come a long way and (depending on the model) I think that most people may find them acceptable, at a tenth of the cost.
I have a pair of wireless earbuds and a pair of wired headphones both cheap end devices and the sound quality is very noticeably different with my wired headphones having much better audio quality
@@cheydr9727 Yep, which is why I hate this all wireless trend, once the gap between the two is narrow enough I cannot hear the difference, than wireless hear I come :)
Your point around the 4:11 mark is the absolute best point that soooooo many people miss about these buds. Sound quality has EVERYTHING to do with how well they seal to your ears. So if you are using the wrong size tips, you will never hear their best sounds. So it is definitely worth a little trial and error to find out which set fits the best and makes the best seal. I use mine every single morning in the gym, where I am sweating my ass off, and they still stay in my ears, and sound excellent the entire time. Also of note is they are louder than any other buds I've ever used. PRO TIP: Go to the Play Store and get POWERAMP PRO!!! It's worth every penny, and you can make these sound any way you want! BTW, not being available for ios is NOT a problem, it's a feature. You have to be a f%#*!@g moron to use ios, so they don't deserve the app. I could write a dissertation on what isn't available on ios, or CRapple devices...
This channel never fails to impress me with everything they do, they guided me through building my gaming PC, finding decent headphones at a good price (which took forever), and so many other things that i can't even count. I just want to give a huge thanks for everything the team at LTT does to help us of lower intellect to succeed in this tech filled world, because I don't think a lot of us would be able to with out them.
Dear Linus, You've been a great teacher and a great tech reviewer since my age of 14. . . you are my first and outmost respected "RU-vid Teacher". . . With Great love from Myanmar(Burma) YOU'RE MY GODDAMN TECH TEACHER/MENTOR
Just picked these up at Best Buy today, and they are great! My go to are my Sony WH1000MX2 headphones, but these are great as well due to their size and mobility factor.
I liked the video just because it was pointed out how there was an exterior LED light. You'd be surprised how many reviews don't even acknowledge that or bring it up when it's kind of an important feature.
I might have missed but i think he forgot to mention a big one for me (besides everything else) that makes galaxy buds better is that galaxy buds are also ipx2 certified which means they are water and sweat resistant. Tight fit + ipx2 means they will be a good choice for working out. Which means a lot for fitness users.
I have the Galaxy Buds and am a bit disappointed with some of the control quirks. I chose Samsung's Buds for my truly wireless headphones because of the enhanced integration with Samsung's devices & software like Bixby (have Note9, Galaxy Watch & Tab S4). I tend to download & read the manual before buying tech stuff to get a proper look at what to expect and I clocked straight away that there was no way of controlling volume (which you would think is the most important control for wireless headphones) and also being able to bring up Bixby (or whatever voice assistant is default on the connected phone). It's one or the other. Single/double/triple taps on either bud do the same things - play/pause and skip track. The only other control is tap and hold, and you can customise this for the left and right buds. But if you choose volume, one bud puts volume up and the other volume down. No way of bringing up the voice assistant. If you choose voice assistant for one of the bud's tap and hold control, you can choose another feature for the other bud but then volume can't be controlled. What frustrates me most about this setup is that Samsung's previous wireless buds - the IconX - didn't have these issues, as shown in Linus' video. Volume could be controlled by swiping up or down on either bud, leaving the tap and hold gesture free for other features. IconX goes even further with a double tap and hold gesture - just having this on the Galaxy Buds would solve my main gripe; for example, I could set single tap and hold to control volume, and double tap and hold for voice assistant - and this could easily be added with an update (the volume swipe up and down from the IconX almost certainly can't be added though as you would need a touchpad that senses direction, not just touch). This quirk initially put me off buying the Galaxy Buds until I read about an update bringing 'handsfree Bixby'. There are many similar news articles on tech sites that must have come from the same Samsung press release, e.g.: www.techradar.com/uk/news/samsung-galaxy-buds-update-includes-hands-free-bixby-voice-control The takeaway from reading this is that you will now be able to access Bixby just by saying the wakeword 'Hi Bixby', without having to do the press and hold gesture, right? Just like the latest Apple AirPods with their completely handsfree 'Hey Siri'. I was thinking, cool, I could have my Buds set to control volume and still have access to Bixby just by saying the wakeword. But no, after buying the Buds I discovered this wasn't the case. The 'handsfree Bixby control' mentioned in these articles just means that Buds-specific features can now be controlled with Bixby. You still have to use the press and hold gesture to actually bring up Bixby. So basically the update is just a few extra Bixby actions that relate to the Buds. Still useful, but doesn't add to the experience as much as true handsfree activation of the voice assistant would be, which is what these articles seem to imply. So the AirPods are still the only buds that do have this feature. One of the controls on the Galaxy Buds is 'lock touchpad' that stops any touches from having an affect. Useful if you keep accidentally triggering actions or are putting the buds in and out a lot (music will stop automatically if both buds are taken out anyway). Handsfree activation of Bixby would be of use here as you could lock and unlock the touchpad with voice. But with the update only adding Bud controls to Bixby and the method of bringing up Bixby still unchanged by having to tap and hold, if for example you brought up Bixby in this manner and said 'lock the touchpad' Bixby would oblige but then you would have no way of unlocking the touchpad without going back to the phone. Surely it must be possible to add truly handsfree Bixby with an update if Samsung wanted too, they would just need to be continuously transmitting brief loops captured from the microphones back to the phone to listen for the wakeword - if they had been designed from the ground up to do this the processing done to listen for the wakeword could've been done by the Bud's own processor but should still be possible to do in the phone with an update. I did a little research into how the new AirPods do it, and I couldn't find out whether the wakeword processing was done on the AirPods or on the phone, but I did read that it was a more optimised, lower power consumption processor & bluetooth connection that made it possible over the first generation. Outside of this the Galaxy Buds are nice, they are physically well designed - they look smart, wireless charging case is great and a choice of wingtips helps them stay in my ears well. AirPods look horrible in this regard - haven't tried them but they look like they would fall out easily. Also the AirPods look a bit silly with the 'cut off wires' look. Sound quality isn't bad but also isn't fantastic. Linus says in his video the Galaxy Buds sound better than AirPods with more bass, so AirPods must not be good at all. I find it best with the default EQ setting (in Samsung's own app) of Dynamic and the 'Tube Amp Pro' audio effect turned on in my phone settings. The Buds are good for watching videos/movies, and electronic music but struggle a bit more with metal. Indoors they sound fuller, not too far off my BeatsX but outdoors they suffer from less isolation and wind noise more - even with the Ambient Sound feature turned off. I did try Ambient Sound and it's functional but makes the outside audio its passing through sound tinny and metallic. Nowhere near as good as Sony's implementation of this with their WH-1000XM3 over ears that I have tried - they have fantastic noise cancelling and ambient sound passthrough with extensive customisation. Of course these are high end over ears, but their WI-1000X in ears are meant to have the same system and are wireless with a neckband so I'd like to see how they fare - I'm interested to see if having more space for the mics and processing needed for ambient passthrough and noise cancelling makes a difference or if Sony's excellence with these features scales across all their models that have them. Of course Galaxy Buds don't have active noise cancelling so can't compare this with Sony - that's another feature I wish they had though, the hardware appears to be there at a basic level (internal & external mics, plus a processor that can amplify what the mics pick up as per ambient passthrough). I wonder whether the poor ambient passthrough quality I hear is a sign that active noise cancellation wouldn't work on the Buds without better hardware. They are apparently based on a Qualcomm chipset so really a lot of Samsung's features for these buds are just their own skin over Qualcomm's featureset - which includes noise cancellation for phone calls by using the external mics to remove background noise for the benefit of the person on the other end of the line, but this doesn't extend to noise cancellation for the wearer. Samsung may have had the option to include this feature with a higher end Qualcomm chip but chose not to, would be interesting if they could implement it via an update by doing the noise cancellation processing in the phone and sending the processed audio signal back to the buds. Sony have also just released a new version of their own true wireless buds, the WF-1000XM3. Their predecessor was one of the only true wireless sets to have active noise cancelling but didn't have the extensive controls of the models I mentioned earlier. Apparently this new version does, so I imagine the noise cancellation will be even better as well as more customisable - I'm excited to try these as the predecessor was meant to have the best sound quality of all the wireless buds. They are pretty much double the price of the Galaxy Buds however.
I love the volume up and down feature! I have a bunch of different wireless earbuds and headphones of all different kinds but because I have an S9 they have such awesome features.
@@PurpleRupees I can relate, especially when doing lots of movements like exercising. Or while at work the cords would get damaged or completely cut off. So switched to wireless years ago
@@1WRLD Yes I know that. But if Linus is gonna make "Samsung not having an iOS app" a downside, then he needs to a address that AirPods are no different in their exclusivity. That's all this is about
While I agree, the closest I've come is a pretty affordable pair of Shure SE215s. Seriously, as an audiophile, they're reaaaalllly good. Buy from a place that takes returns, give them a shot.
Commander ZiN Fuck wireless. My MSR7SEs shit on everything featured in this video. But opinions exist. People would rather look like clowns with AirPods, or have slightly better sound quality but nowhere near good enough compared to what I’m used to, but these ear buds work for people who travel a lot, market’s there, but I will never adopt it lmao. The day Samsung ditches the headphone jack or if they even do, I’m buying a music player with 3.5, 4.4 and 2.5 balanced jacks., so that at least I won’t have to worry about my phone anymore.
It isn't really fair to say that the buds are designed to work better with Samsung devices while comparing audio quality with the Pixel 3, since that phone is notorious for its Bluetooth issues. I'm pretty sure that audio quality on a new OnePlus would be nearly identical to a Samsung's
The issue you mentioned with cut outs on the pixel 3 isn't just one the pixel 3 but also the Samsung S10. The issue seems to be totally random, its as if randomly is doesn't function unless the distance between buds and phone is 0.0001cm. Apparently it's a recognised fault but to date still no fix. Best fix I have found though not 100% and temporary is a good old faithful phone reboot. For music I use them virtually every walk .. to the pub :D. Previous earphones seem to always fall out my ears so didn't use them much, these those seem to stay pretty well.
The ambient mode seems kinda cool. That's one reason I actually like the airpods so much. I just use one side at a time at work, and I need to hear what's going on around me
The ones Linus talks about are 20x the price of mine, with only 2-3 times the battery life. I don't mind swapping my $10 m99 ones from Aliexpress out once or twice a day. Plus, these kind of suck when you lose them (which is easy to do because they're so small). Nice to not have to stash some in your pocket, but I wouldn't justify this price tag.
So the bit about them being pretty much useless if you want to use them for calls gets a five second mention? Watch Jimsreviewroom to hear a sample...its unacceptable to have such bad microphones
Doggy Doge For me and probably many many others that defeats the whole purpose of having earbuds. For a product that cost over 100$ and is made by Samsung i expect to be able to make simple phone calls
First thing everyone I was on a phone call with mentioned. The muffled and terrible sound quality. I kept using my Samsung buds and lost 1 of the buds. Could not find it to save my life. I ended up throwing them away and went back to my old Samsung level u pro. Very disappointed for a 130 dollar ear buds to have a crap mic. Even the free AKG buds have a better mic.
Very very cool review man. Its breathtaking to finally have a different take on how to do reviews. They dont always have to be dry and tasteless. Very cool. Thanks again!! ✌
