I don't understand this huge smartphone competition and the constant debating over which is better. -.- If you're happy with your iPhone, then I'm glad for you. I'm still going to get an SGS2 though.
So shud i buy iPhone o S2??? Pls tell me. But i already hve samsung galaxy tablet. Its quite fun. Now o wanna buy hp. Which onee is better??? But apple has the most best apps rite???
@xDATCUDIKIDx P.S. I think you are talking about performance or operating system. UI (User Interface) is the design on how a user interacts with the device, doesn't equate to a device running faster or having less problems. Just pointed it out to avoid confusion.
@ladystixxs That part was meant as a light hearted joke, he didn't spell it wrong on the iPhone but he did on the s2, i.e. the iPhone is better to type on. The first part about his website was an observation that he is already a Droid fan, therefore his opinion would be slightly biased, whether intentional or not.
@SiriDoes The only reason he used Siri is that it's the one available to him at that time. Customizability has nothing to do with developing apps or using proxy servers to do specific tasks. ADK is for usb accessory, I think you mean SDK. Siri is a nice novelty but it is not a deal breaker. Can you use your iPhone to do automation? Eg. open Wifi whenever you open Safari only when theres wifi, or send a text to recipients when entering or exiting a certain locations.
@TheAnnihilationHawk Depends what operating system do you like. On my opinion both phones are fast enough. So I wouldn't consider that as parameter while buying.
The samsung is a stunning phone...had mine for over 6 months now and it is soooo nice. The speed is amazing and the screen is just the best i have ever seen on a phone. I have not had a single problem with it and there are no downsides. Everything it does....is does extremely well.
What are you taking about! I've had Samsung phones for a while never had that issue happen to me or my customers. So tell me how can you read on that 3.5 inch screen? My finger covers half when i type.
If you have a google account, then add all your contacts there and it will sync with the Galaxy S2. I spent a good amount of time doing it and then ordered the S2 and I'm super happy with it. I switch back and forth between phones because I like them both.
Just sold my iphone 4 and got my galaxy s 2 and I can't be any happier i made that decision. I got a mac book pro and ipad 2 so I thought it would be a lot easier for me to have everything apple but I was wrong this galaxy s 2 is just amazing . You have to feel it in your hands and play with for a little bit to understand what im trying to say. Going to keep it until i see improvements in G S III or iPhone 5.
I've owned both and I prefer the S2. The iPhone is wayyy more simple and streamlined to use because of iTunes but the s2 has so much more functionality. The android UI is also much more appealing plus the camera is on par or better than the 4s. Only thing is the s2 has lower screen resolution and sometimes shows pixelation with online images but you rarely notice it. I've been an iPhone/iPod user for 5+ years but I think ill stay with android now and get the S3 in 2012.
@ric181 That "many apps installed" theory simply is not true. The IPhone is not capable to true multitasking, that means the RAM is dedicated to only one program running at a time. The only time a program will be needing virtual memory is when the task is too extensive (eg. graphics intensive game) which is not that case in this video.
Had the S3 since just after it was released and it's everything they said it would be and more. Now on Jellybean with Omega ROM V26 and Siyah kernel and it really is butter smooth and as fast as lightning.
yes you're very right. my bestfriend just got the s3 and to be honest i really like my s2 better. the only thing i like about the s3 is that its round but other then that like you said not much of a difference. but thanks =D
iPhone may have it limitations, but its so simple! Android itself is more customizable, and the s2 has a lot more to offer. Having had both, I'd rather more simple.
The Galaxy S2 looks great, but I'm very apprehensive about getting one since all OLED screens seem to have a burn in problem. Not so sure I want to put money down on a device that is reported to become damaged over a relatively short period of time by regular use.
I chose the S2 over the iPhone. The apps are cheaper (most free), more developers are turning to Android, and the interface is friendlier on Android. But that's just my opinion.
About the home button - to avoid lawsuits from Apple regarding the home button. The corners on the T-Mobile one is more rounded because that is what T-mobile wants. And it is to differentiate all the three Galaxy S II in the USA.
@DistantEclipse Like I said, it can be irritating depending on which side you're on. He was actually trying to be objective by saying the iPhone 4S have better hardware, but he just prefer Android so please don't vent your aggression on him. Just let it go and just enjoy the rest of the Christmas eve.
This is an old iPhone 4 holding it's own against the Galaxy S2! The speed differences aren't that great nowadays I think it is becoming an old fashioned way of comparing two phones by purely basing it on speed. It may not be the fastest but the iPhone 4 is still a classy smooth device.
Galaxy S2 is really awesome but what I miss is physical LED. But I was lucky because I found this app, which makes my phone act like led. If someone is interested type "led actor" in google play. There are already some apps which have the same functionality but I've found this one actually working.
even tough the Iphone has a smal screen, not as thin as s2, no screen customisation...but steel the best. It's something that we compare to everything new,it's the true meaning of quality material and battery life.I'm not avoiding the s2,because it's a real experience of viewing images and watching videos.
I've tried both the S2 and iPhone 4. They are both great phones actually. Howevere they ar good for different things. You can't decide between these phones.
If you want a fast device for gaming,multi-tasking and so on,go for the S2. If you want a stable device with an os that never hangs up and is more secure than any other device in his class built with noble materials,go for the iPhone 4.
I have S2 and recently bought iphone 4s (just to enjoy new apps I was supposed to buy nexus) however I still prefer my S2. Way faster and convenient to use. It has widgets and a BACK BUTTON =) Camera on S2 is way better that Iphone 4s
wow, never knew the screen was that much bigger, really it just comes down to what you prefer, what app market you prefer, what design you perfer, I just bought an sg2, before this I had an sg1, I only updated my phone because the old one went missing, I LOVED the sg1, it was so functional but it's not for everyone some just prefer the eas and syle of apple stuff which ok too
Samsung Galaxy S2 owner here, I wish I had an iPhone 4S. Even with 1.2 ghz dual core cpu, the Galaxy S2 homescreen swipe response lags so much that it is like Touchwiz had been coded by using a typewriter. Even third party launchers can't give it justice. Apple has better ecosystem in terms of hardware and software development. Androids, even though much more capable than iOS, its development is much worse than a chinese market on weekends.
@Enforcer0623 Well everything copied something. I dont see people complaining that action movies copied one movie from years ago. If something works then other companies are going to take the idea and improve it. Thats how we move forward in technology.
Samsung is just enjoying by owning iPhone ! I'm still thinking if i should get Galaxy S2 or iPhone 4 ... iPhone 4 has more stuff to do, but Samsung is better in performance ...
When we are talking about Samsung galaxy s2 vs Iphone4, we re talking about android vs apple. Android = everything is free, just search from google, you can move apps and clocks and everything. Apple = pay for everything only settings what you can do is to shutt down ur phone.
@rayc5577 I have one, it takes a little bit of getting used to at first (I had a blackberry before it too) because theres so many features it can be overwhelming. After about the first week you'll realize how awesome the phone actually is. Very powerful.
Maybe it's just me but what does it matter if a phone is a second slower than the other? As long as they are not the same price than honestly it shouldnt really matter right?
My Galaxy s2 is superb.Apples screen and interface looks a bit small and dated in comparison. I'm sure Apple will come up with a bigger screen and maybe amoled in 5 next year. Also it missed a trick not having hspa+ internet speed so 4g standard next time I would think. Also a major plus point is I can swap a spare battery in if I get caught short which is impossible with the iphone. For now s2 leads the way as its rightly been awarded phone of the year of 2011 a number of times.
I just went from 4S to S2 and i can tell you, Galaxy is WAY better if you don't like limitations that Rotten Apple has. I've been an Apple Fanatic for past 10 years but Galaxy did it. Japanese guys are freaking scientists, look Nissan GT-R vs. Ferrari Italia. LOL
Worth it. I used to be Apple Iphone fanboy and had been using 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S, but then I took samsung galaxy s2 on the knee. Iphone and its design, apps, and its revolutionary are impressive, but why settle for mediocrity?
@SeniorPescado 1GB Ram vs 512 MB, USB On-th-Go support, 4G wireless standard, Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n compared to Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, 2 MP front facing camera vs VGA, Class 12 GPRS and EDGE, Dual Core 1.2-1.5 GHz Cortex-A9 processor vs Dual Core 1 GHz underclocked at 800 MHz Cortex-A9 processor. Keep in mind Galaxy S2 is 5 months older than the iPhone 4S. Only advantage of the iPhone is in the GPU and f2.4 vs f2.6 aperture(minor difference). Note g-bread doesn't take advantage of 2 cores Mali yet.
@xDATCUDIKIDx I definitely agree with you when you say androids have advanced hardware. I mean... they should, since they imitate a human being that well.
Have an iPhone 4 right now.....and have the option of getting a new phone. Wait to see what the galaxy 3 and iPhone 5 are like, but have a feeling i will be switching to samsung. Tech wise, a far superior phone and if rumours are true for the 3, gonna blow the iPhone out of the water.
@mav3rick29 allow me to clarify my post. In the SCREEN there are alot of applications/icons in the Iphone where else in Samsung there was no apps because the user has not downloaded it from the "market" So its a unfair comparison because there is tons of apps(games) in the SCREEN for iphone. When there is tons of apps, it makes your phone lag. So i assume that the Samsung was bought recently and he has not downloaded the application from the "market" thus leading Samsung to perform better.
it's easy to get swept up with tech specs and MUST HAVE THE LATEST! sort of mindset but if the phone feels right for you then it is the best phone, I've got sg2 and sometimes I miss my sg1, sure the sg2 is a hell of a device but it too has it's draw backs like any phone, for example the amazing screen and uber fast processer is great but as a result the bettery life SUCKS, also frankly, the large size can make it a littlle awkward to quickly send a text or woosh around the OS (my opinion only)
