after I saw the durability of base S20, I'm also leaning towards + version

You obviously haven't watched most of the camera comparison the ultra beats out the pixel on almost every thing including night mode . FYI the ultra at 30x zoom looks why better then the pixel at 8x . And no wide angle lens that's a fell

S20+ for sure... Your review essentially said for the price specs and overall experience I wouldn't go wrong with choosing the + and it looks like a beautiful phone too... Can't wait for that income tax return 😜😁😁

Between those two, get the S20+; there's really no comparison. I'm not an LG hater at all, but Samsung leapfrogged their Korean rival a few years ago in the smartphone arena, and hasn't looked back. Also, while Samsung still needs to up its Android software-update game, it's still more timely and consistent than that of LG.

@@Sharky165 I've been using LG for years now. I don't really have anything against Samsung but I really don't wanna be another Galaxy person. Also LG has always had the video capabilities that I like, such as Manual video and all that comes with that. I don't use my phone much for photos. The S20 has things that I like such as a higher res display and a telephoto camera, but the V60 has (for once) a better design and that second screen just seems cool to have even if it's not 100% polished. Plus that huge ass battery, and it'll be much cheaper than the S20+.

@@DerrekLeigh Fair enough. But then I'd suggest just going with the G8X and saving even more $$, unless the V60 has some value-added feature that the G8X doesn't. I'm guessing you're a Juan Bagnell fan ? 😁

@@Sharky165 I'm a supporter of his. Although I sometimes think he goes a little too far in his love for LG, even I can admit their faults. And between the V60 and G8X I'd go with the former mainly because of the larger battery powering two screens and the added bonus of 5G. Plus that Classy Blue is quite classy, much better than the colors Samsung is giving us this year

@@Sharky165 its extremely heavy. I thought I could deal with it, but I can't. In her review she notes the 2 cheaper models have better auto focus on the camera and its so true.

Are you could just use the setting that let's a image of the scanner stay always on

I found that registering the same finger a few times helps. Also the Whitestone glass does work well with the scanner. At least on my Note 10+.

Yea me too...the weight and bulk is a drag.

Not to mention focusing issues.

@@e5m956 I love bulk and weight makes feel really premium but the autofocus and narrow depth of field is a drag...hoping the update can fix it. I think the iPhone 11 has pdaf and Huawei and theirs isn't as bad

@@RathOX the low light is better. All shots will be in the end. New tech and software take time. It has the better hardware and wins in most scenarios.

Does HDR work properly throughout all apps on it? Could only get it to work on RU-vid it the store. This has been bugging me on my S9 for some time now. Was hoping the latest update to one ui 2.0 would remedy it but no such luck. Netflix seems to be particularly dim. Not just a streaming service thing either because locally downloaded uhd movies don't display hdr either.

I didn’t think the size difference was drastic enough to trade off the other features of the ultra... in fact I could barely tell the size difference and I have medium size hands. The only thing I noticed is that the 20+ was juuuust a bit thinner. My ultra is a husky boy. Enjoy your 20+ 😀

Jim McNevin trying to decide. Is the S20+ 30x zoom quality the same as the Ultras 30x zoom? Or does that extra lens help with the quality? I really like the zoom feature but all reviews say the 100x is just really not useable as far as quality. So I figured 30x is going to be the sweet spot. Thanks

@@bamabladez The zoom quality is better on the Ultra, but the reality is I only would actually use the zoom on occasional shots. 95% of my pictures are point and shoot. The overall picture quality, between the two, wasn't that significantly different and they use two different types of auto focus. The Ultra uses a new phase detection which takes longer and sometimes doesn't focus properly or at all. The S20+ and S20, use dual pixel auto focus, which they have used for years and is faster to focus. Also the focus area or field is narrow on the Ultra vs the S20+. The creates a better bokeh effect when shooting a singular object but when you are shooting multiple objects, such as a group shot, only the center objects will be in focus, where others, on the perimeter, may be slightly out of focus (softer). With the overall picture quality being so marginal and the focus issues, the S20+ was the better camera. Perhaps, when they get the issues ironed out, the Ultra's camera can live up to its true potential, but for me, right now it's kind of meh.

@@KHarr1s For me, holding the phone wasn't the primary issue. It was the camera on the Ultra. Combine that with it didn't fit in my pants and if I put a case on it...forget about it. It became a rather easy decision. Mobile phones are supposed to be mobile and with it's overall size and not for prime time camera, made its mobility became somewhat limited and the price tag of $1400 was a deal breaker.

Thanks Jim. I have the S10. I upgrade every year just because I love phone new phones and tech. But one of the reasons I'm excited to upgrade was a change in cameras. I was just wondering is the S20+ 30x zoom a real upgrade from past camera. I have seen pictures from the ultra 30x zoom and I was impressed so I was wondering is the 20+ just as good. Not even close! No offense but the 120Hz refresh rate on an AMOLED is as game changing as when Apple introduced the Retina display in 2010 IMHO.

Keep us updated on your decision! It might just influence my decision on which to buy 😀
