This Samsung Galaxy S21 review has been a long time coming since its been used on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, its been three months so its time for a long term user review. And honestly, this might be the best smartphone right now in 2021, especially when talking about the Galaxy S21 vs S21 Ultra. It has very similar specs, camera performance and display as the S21 Ultra but its actually the Galaxy S21 price that's the star of the show!

I went from the S8 to the S21 and I am very satisfied by it. The price and the size with the upgraded specs (compare to the s8) is what sold me on finally upgrading. I absolutely recommend it to any who still own an S8, S9, and S10

Just ordered the S21, coming from the S8 for almost 4 years. Used the S5 before that. Samsung has earned my goodwill with long lasting, durable phones, though I do wish they would bring back the replaceable battery feature. S8 mostly works fine aside from a few aging quirks, mainly I want a battery I don't have to charge until bedtime. Kinda disappointing the S21 is only an incremental upgrade from 4 iterations ago, but I'm still excited for the new phone. Plus Samsung gave a generous trade in value for the S8, so that helped make my decision too.

My first Samsung smartphone was the S2 then an S5 quickly followed by the S6 edge after some..."accidents" with the S5 lol (remember it was the first Galaxy with water rating lmao). After battery and aging issues with the edge I got the S8 which lasted me all through 4.5+ years until it just...suddenly died 💔 Just placed my order on the S21, but still sad to see the S8 go. I loved that phone; it might be my favourite phone design to date

Curious, I had the s20 plus and don't notice the resolution downgrade on the s21 (yes I did change it to 1440p/60hz), I vastly prefer the s21 120hz smoothness and speed, the s20 at 120hz was blurry do to the downscaling to 1080p.

@LyK0sa
@LyK0sa 3 года назад
I honestly don't understand why anyone gets hung up over 1440p on phone screens. 1080p on a 6.2 inch screen works out to a slightly higher pixel density than a 4k 11 inch screen. A 27" 4k monitor, which everyone would describe as 'razor sharp', is about 163 PPI, way less than half of the S21 at 1080p (6.2", 2400x1080 = 424 PPI). Unless you use you phone with your nose literally rubbing against the screen, 1080p is plenty for small displays.

Great review! I was looking to replace my A50 with the A52 5G, but with a rebate, the S21 5G wasn't all that much more. Don't replace my phone every 6 months (or year!), so the S21's faster processor and 8gb ram should make this a better long-term own phone. Old school I guess, but I prefer a plastic back over glass...as long as the build and feel is solid, and it is, besides, I skin my phones anyway. At $799 + rebate, I didn't break my budget, but got better than a mid-range phone.

I used Note9 since 2018, was skeptical when I upgraded to S21 regular, but when I do, I fell in love with it within an hour of usage ! Surely I wanted smaller form factor and this phone is already perfect ! Price is just nice and the updated features from Samsung is the best ! The back plastic does not feel cheap at all, it is just an overall underdog smartphone of this generation !

By no means I think that the regular S21 is an underdog against its competition because of Samsung's brand premium and the phone's refinement, but it does seem that way when compared to the S21 Ultra and Fold/Flip series by Samsung that dominate most of the market.

@thewifipassword3942 3 года назад
@@toohottohandle0_0 Ok so it depends, if you consume a lot of RU-vid or 4k content, then odds are you will be able to tell the difference. However more often then not, there arent many games or apps that support a full 1440 resolution. However since I made this comment, youtube announced that users who had a 1080p display could upscale their stream to 4k. And at this point the upscaling looks exactly like 1440p at this point. So now, there really isn't much of a difference unless your like shoving your face next to the screen.
@pcarlson214
@pcarlson214 3 года назад
@@toohottohandle0_0 Yes...and no! In the store, doing a direct comparison, yeah I could appreciate the S21 Ultra's 1440p display...though even then it was hardly "night and day" different. However, in daily usage I really can't say that I ever caught myself thinking "Gee, I wish the screen was 1440p!" The S21's 1080p resolution is bright/sharp, more than just "adequate" on a 6.2" screen. There simply is not enough visible difference for me to notice outside of a direct side-by-side comparison.

I've been using it for a few months now, and it is pretty much the perfect phone. I used to use a Note 20 Ultra, and I hated it so much, so I ended up returning it. I loved the design of the note, but it was just a pain to use and was impractical. The S21 Ultra, on the other hand, it fits my hand perfectly, has a sharp and fast display, is extremely responsive, great camera, there's just nothing wrong with the phone and it really does nothing to piss me off immediately. The designers must keep the ergonomics in mind and not just the looks. 2- The camera produces pixelated images, not great. 3- The network loss problem. The phone losses the network after coming out of the lift. Only restart work. 4 - Samsung is still dumping the irritating Bixby on long pushing power button which anyone will push habitually to shutdown or restart the phone. 5- On the good side, it is lightweight and just perfect size, not too big not too small. 6 - Dex world perfectly.

Guess I'll just have to pay £50 extra for the 256GB option and copy my music via USB, just kind of a bummer knowing there's a risk of losing photos forever unless you back stuff up regularly (and trust the cloud-type storage medium if you're not copying direct to your computer). @@lewchenko74 yeah so it doesnt really matter anyway cus you dont have a choice. If you want the s21 in europe its the only option. Also next to gaming, no one is gonna care if their app opens in 0.02 seconds instead of 0.01

Awesome video! Very informative. I'm still using an S8 but I think I'll consider upgrading to an S21. Thanks!

I upgraded from an S8 to the S21. The performance of the 21 is on a different level, the 120 Hz screen is a joy to use. But I sure do miss the S8 for its smaller size and the design, it felt like a smooth pebble. Compared to the S8, the S21 feels like a brutal chunk of plastic and glass. My ideal phone would be the S21 in the S8 body.

MY S21 IS GETTING OVERHEAT WITH WARNING ON SCREEN WHILE USING CAMERA AND VIDEO CALLING EVEN IN 3 DAYS OF USAGE. THINKING TO RETURN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DID ANYONE ELSE FEEL OVERHEATING ISSUE?

It's Now September of 2022. I'm upgrading to this phone from my OnePlus 7. I'm picking it over the Oneplus 9 because if you can believe it, it's already become cheaper here in the Philippines. It's on sale for 21,300 Php or about 374 USD. And that's with the 256gb version already. the oneplus 9 is still about 405 USD. I'm so looking forward to this phone. Finally, after years of Oneplus loyalty, I can try out the "Mainstream Brands". The s22 is still way too expensive. In my opinion, it's always smarter to buy the last year's flagship. it does almost the same thing and performs at almost the same level but at a fraction of the cost.

Got the 256 GB version with the Buds+ as a bundle for 750$, pretty satisfied with it. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that the phone comes with no charger and the charging speed isn't as good as the competition (Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc.)

Where have you bought it from? Online or from a store?

YES! Yes to plastic (lighter and more sturdy). Yes to flat screen. Yes to small phone with 6.2" (to me that is perfect screen size, coming from a 6"). Yes to the bright screen. Camera. Battery. Yeah... the resolution sounds a bit sad to me coming from 2560x1440 but everything else is so great that this will be my next phone. Thank you!

I love my s21. I don't know why people hate plastic I have a 3 year old and it would have been broken by now so I love the plastic back. People only think glass is premium because the phone companies say it's premium (because they make alot of money with broken glass on back or front glass)

It's good to do your homework for sure but frankly reviews can only help to a point. How and what you primarily use your phone for really determines what combination of hardware and features are best suited to you. For example, the 4,000mah battery on the S21 frequently gets panned...but I am literally never in a situation that I can't charge my phone overnight, and since I easily get a full day + from my S21, the battery is absolutely a non-issue for me. For some who lean on their phone much more heavily I can understand that the battery may not be enough for their usage!

I wanted S21 but landed on S20FE 5g, mostly because in Europe S21 has exynos soc :( where S20FE 5g has snap 865 but as FE has 4500mah aku, for me it lasting easly for 7-8h sot and 2days uptime
