I`m back with yet another cinematic video shot with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra! This time most of the footage was shot in 8k and downscaled to match the 4k footage from 0.6x, 3x and 10x cameras.

Спасибо большое! Да, я сам не перестаю удивляться. Конечно, всё ещё не уровень проф камеры, но, думаю, лет через 5 будет действительно сложно найти отличия. Хотя, если взять дешёвую камеру с дёшевой линзой, то по сравнению с ней тут изображение уже будет лучше )

Your videos are GENUINELY outstanding Yaroslav. I start watching other videos on other channels and lose interest all too rapidly as my eye is hard to please, but your videos grab my eye from the off and draw it in further and further until by the end my eyes are wide open. Thank you! Everything was shot in a Pro Video mode except 1 scene here - the reveal of butterfly pavilion, since I wanted to get wider dynamic range. I didn`t use ND for this shooting

Hey Sriram! I used a basic app - as per my experience, it produces the highest quality of material. I shoot almost always in Pro Video mode. 8k footage looks the best and nost cinematic without oversharpening. Also the framerate I use is 30fps or 60fps, depending on if I'm planning to slow down the footage later. I'm planning to create a course about mobile videography, so stay tuned not to miss it! :)

Thank you! Almost everything here was shot in Pro Mode. All the slowmo shots were shot in 4k 60. Amazing, that even zoom lenses allow to shoot with these settings 🔥

Спасибо. На главную камеру снимал в 8к, на все остальные - в 4к, позже всё экспортировал в 4к, чтобы не было большого разброса по качеству.

Yes, I guess so. But as a phone overall, Xperia isn't that reliable, and the camera overheats super fars, so maybe I wouldn't be able to shoot anything at all 😅

What video setings use for Cinematic video? Use Pro video option?

I shoot 95% of the footage for these videos in a Pro Video mode. I use auto only in case if I need strong HDR capabilities. 8k gives the best overall quality but is limited to 30fps, so if you want a slow motion, 4k 60 fps is your best choice. No auto lens switching or auto fps, that would make your videos look amateur. Take as much control as you can. Sometimes, even a manual focusing is a key to cinematic footage.

@dzoni b depending on your goals and needs, there's no magic recipe. 60fps is needed for further slow motion, 24 is considered as "the most cinematic", but it works like that only if you follow the shutter angle rule of 180°, 30fps looks smoother... so it's a deep topic

Samsung doesn't have a flat profile in basic application, so it was just a regular one. Shot in Pro Video Mode, ISO mostly 50-200 (beside the last shot). Many cenes here were shot in 8k, and all zoom shots and slomos are in 4k. Set the high bitrate setting to get the best result. On grading, I applied Teal&Orange lut at about 30-40% transparency, blurred the image by 1-3% and added a bit of noise for the natural look.

Nope, for this one everything was shot handheld, no ND filter either. What I`ve noticed, if you shoot handheld with a phone, it`s better to keep shutter speed faster, since on 1/50 shakes from built in stabilization are quite noticeable. So here in many shots it was some "non-cinematic" shutter speed of 1/2500 or something like that.

@user-xx6tc4py2s shutter speed doesn't really affect the quality itself. Also, it should be based not on the resolution but on FPS setting. In a perfect case, it should be calculated as 1/(fps*2). But, of course, we hardly ever consider this when shooting with mobile phone :)

It is very simple: ISO as low as possible (50-100), shutter speed to match the exposure. We don`t get to play around much with these settings since we can`t compensate them with aperture.
