Don't you need 45W charger with PPS rating of [3-11V @ 4.05Amps] to actually have the advertised 45W speed ? Samsung phones can get messy with anything non-Samsung that can't do that spec (limiting themselves to 18-25W instead).

For Fast Charging 2.0 you have to check if the charger supports Samsung's PPS charging protocol, not only the voltage! If not, it works only with 25W, Fast Charging 1.0. This test doesn't have any information about it.

Very true. I brought a 45W charger that doesn't support the PPS protocol needed therefore I cannot enable 2.0 charging

For Super Fast Charging you need at least 2.25A PPS output but not all chargers with this output work, so going up to 3A is recommended. For Super Fast Charging 2.0 you need at least 4.05A PPS but 5A is recommended. Charger watt rating doesn't mean anything, some 65W chargers are limited to 3A PPS so they won't charge any faster than a 25W Samsung Super Fast Charger. Stop misleading viewers.

For those wondering, 5A on the cable is 5 Amps. Simple math can help you find out how many Watts your charger is. Volts x Amps = Watts. If your power brick says 9V/2A then it is an 18 Watt charger. A true 100 Watt charger would have to say it's output is 20V/5A which would equal 100 Watts. If you use a subpar 3A cable your 100 Watt charger will only be able to give your phone 60 Watts and that's if your phone supports 20 Volt charging. Samsung Super Fast Charging 2.0 is only 10Volts so with the 5 Amp cable has a theoretical max of 50 Watts. They rate it 45 Watts max. Great video as always GM!

@@mvil Most manufacturers state the specifications in their listings or on the packaging unless you buy cheap junk that may not even be what they state they are. Thicker cables are generally higher amperage rated but unless it's stamped like the 5A wires in the video it may be impossible to tell for sure. Best to buy from a reputable manufacturer and seller. samsung is really really defensive after note 7 battery disasters......which is good for long run. s24 ultra will get 7 years of updates, if battery have to last even 5 years, 27W charging is better than 65 W..

Thank you for the video. I'd like to mention that the Samsung 45W charger comes with a new cable which is thicker than the one that comes with the phone. So I think using a 45W charger with this latter wont unlock the full potential of the 45W charging speed, unless using the new Samsung cable mentionned or an equivalent to it like UGREEN.

MAGFAST makes great cables. Be sure to order the right one for your needs though... Lux (fast), Lux Pro (very fast), or Lux Ultra (super fast). I'd post the specs, but don't have them handy.

This was very helpful for deciding whether 45w charging was worth it or not. It's not a crazy difference with the bundled cable but still a nice to have for me. It's really ridiculous that they don't include a 5A cable in the box though.

I have a problem with my S24+. If I use super fast charging (45W adapter, 5A cable), the ring is sometimes green, sometimes blue. But it says "Superfadt charging 2.0". I don't understand...

Since being a Note 7 survivor, i've always stayed on the lower end of the charging world. Today's technology has changed that, but the memories run deep. I think that the problem was always the cable. Too high charger, too low charging cable. What are your thoughts?

You forgot to mention the charging standard: USB PD, which is a global standard. QuickCharge is for most Qualcomm Snapdragon powered devices. OnePlus, Oppo & Realme uses their own charging standard "SuperVOOC" & is not the same as USB PD, but they have PD charging support on most of their flagships alongside their SuperVOOC charge but the speed is limited. Xiaomi (Mi & Redmi) & Nubia (Z series & Red Magic) uses USB PD standard (thankfully!) and they bump up their charging speeds to 100W+ on most of their phones. Samsung prefer the safer route by limit their PD charging to 45W, which is still enough & safer choice. Also finally, good choice of product promote there. UGREEN is on par with ANKER in terms of quality and their chargers has USB PD charging protocol. Totally a recommended products. 👍

Well, i dont know exactly why, but i'm using my old 1+ charger and cable, which was fine with it, but they charge my s24ultra in 2.5hours at least... charger is 80W, and cable is 10A. And yes.. fast charging option is enabled in settings

Not really. ANY brand that supports the requirements will work... but that starts to eliminate the cheaper/crappier brands. Many people have unknowingly been charging slower than their phones could for years, because of inferior cables (and/or chargers).

"Too high" is okay... the phone won't take more watts than it was designed to take. But if your phone can't use all those Watts, then you're basically spending more on the charger than necessary. UNLESS, of course, you also use that same charger to charge OTHER devices that CAN use the additioinal Watts.

On a s22 ultra amd s23 ultra a 25w charger pulled 27 watts from thr eall to around 75%-80%. My 35w charger pulled 29watts. Of course these charging watts is all marketing

Doesn't make sense. uGreen's charger doesn't not support Samsung's SFC 2.0 from what I see. uGreen can achieve 45W by doing 15v 3A charging (which huawei uses) but SFC 2.0 does 4.05A(3.3-11.0V) or 2.8A(3.3-16.0V) or 2.1A(3.3-21.0V). If your cable doesn't support 5A and the Charger can't output more than 3A......

No one's mentioned that Samsung says you have to use a charger (like theirs) which supports "Adaptive Fast Charging". I know that say maybe "10" years ago, cheap OEM chargers wouldn't work well... i was told because they didn't support AFC. Are ALL new chargers AFC now? Or perhaps "AFC" is now synonymous with "SFC"?

So none of you are saying anything about how this phone does not come with a charger??😡 I ordered a new phone because mine won't hold a charge Not because I wanted a new phone I usually never get a new phone unless something goes wrong with mine like my plug doesn't work my phone it will be plugged up for hours and it'll barely charge 3% I get this new phone pay all this money for it not realizing it does not come with a plug what am I supposed to charge it with why are none of you all getting on them about not sending a plug this phone is expensive enough we should never have to pay for a plug if that's the case what they put the cable thing in here for??

OEMs agreed with the EU to not include chargers due to e-waste. By mutual agreement, the EU did not have to make laws to force OEMs not to include chargers. I assume you supported the EU making Apple use USBC. This is being eco-friendly.

@@joannamccloud, add a charger to the cart when you buy your phone. Apple always reminds you that one is omitted and offers the chance to add to the cart. As it is an EU rule that smartphone makers have adopted worldwide, this is common knowledge for many who have bought a phone in the last few years.

@@andyH_England just fyi to you about why my question mine a note 9, from a edge 7 from a note 4, so you see how many done come out between when i get one i only get a new phone when current goes bad or burns out and I'm seeing I do not like this new direction of no plug. I liked using from the box. If my current Samsung plug will work then fine but im unsure.

Well sadly for a samsung my cheaper counterpart mi 11 lite 5G goes 33watt on paper but doesn’t know if it’s utilities 33w since after seeing this video 😂 even the charger is stated a bigger wattage but 27watt on real usage😅

As i understand things... YES... but on the straight S24, the 45W charger is overkill, and won't charge faster than the 25W charger. That phone doesn't support Super Fast Charging... but will still *charge* with the 45W charger.

Samsung advertising at 45 watts is pure marketing for bragging rights and to please their fans who believe they have faster charging than Apple and Google. In reality, it averages less than 25 watts. It is misleading & if this was Apple, hundreds of videos would be on it. As it stands, Samsung, like Apple and Google, uses PD Charging, an open standard that supports 27 watts for smartphones. 45 watts is for tablets, so Samsung does not go that high and only uses >27 watts for a few minutes. For most of us, these speeds are fine.

Samsung (apparently) does 45W if you have : 1) [PPS] capable "Fast Charge 2.0" charger with 3-11V @ 4.05 Amps rating (11V is max for S23/S24 spec, so having more Volts than that but at higher amps is 100% useless). 2) Cable with 5Amp* rating (as seen on video) *this cable will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbit/s) when transferring files, so you can't have truly universal cable (for both best data and fastest charging speed)

@@CompatibilityMadness Thanks! For consumers, it is very messy, and that is why most will charge at a lower wattage, similar to the iPhone and Pixel. They will use the included cable and an old charger.
