Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 200 MP vs 50 MP vs 12 MP - Which Mode is Better?

After using the Galaxy S24 Ultra for around two weeks, I have to say that its cameras are amazing.
In particular, the main camera has proven to be highly reliable in all situations, producing stunning images consistently.
While I have generally stuck to the 12-megapixel setting, I decided to put the phone's full capabilities to the test.
In this video, I pushed the camera to its limits with a resolution of 200 megapixels, comparing it to the 50-megapixel and 12-megapixel modes.

Thinking of getting this. So glad I saw this. 50mp looks amazing n will use that more I think as I can edit it later but still can have amazing sharpness n details

I would like to preserve 50mpx resolution in main and zoom but be able to quickly change to uw or tele without having to swap back to 12 mpx... it would be amazing

Been using the s24 ultra. 200mp is very useful only in certain scenarios where you have to take pictures and you need to zoom in a lot and crop in. The high res mode definitely helps a lot in retaining details.

They are probably using a sensor like the old HTC one beats used! That was an unbelievable camera for it's time it beat everything because they used this bigger MP sensors but would still be like 8 or 10 MP and alot others used the basic sensors that didn't let asmuch light in I think it was you would have to look back a decade or so to see! But this seems to be what's happening or we would be decreasing in my again to the 2mp lol

on my s23ultra i get the best details in 200mp mode but only in bright daylight , but dynamic range is much reduced in 200mp mode ,

Im confused I cant find the MP option in my camera is there a way to enable it?

Do you see a number next to the aspect ratio? Next to 3:4 or 9:16 or whatever you should see a "12". If you click on it, you should see a 50 and a 200.

If you want to take big shots of landscapes go for 12/50. If you want to take close up shots of bees in flowers go for 200. Simple.

Strange that the 200 MP mode is not showing better quality than the others.. Maybe for that sensor, Samsung didn't give it much attention because of the high megapeixel count... . So maybe they thought if the mp count is high enough, it'll take care of itself and focused on fine tuning the lower megapeixel camera modes.... That's all I can guess. I'd like to see how the Raw photo capture of a human/person is compared on the 200 Mp.. I keep seeing raw photos look just as great as DSLR cameras and that's the magic secret... Photos usually turn out really great with the file size total being higher (maintaining detail) but here it shows otherwise.

The only purpose for the main camera to be 200MP is to take great 50MP or 12MP binned pictures.

Of course it is. Should be 30 max with such a small sensor size. The titanium frames are useless and I would argue even worse than the aluminum frames from the s24's
