The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the most anticipated phone of 2024!! But is it worth buying? In this video, I share some considerations so you DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! 👀
The marketing and the RU-vid crowd (INCLUDING ME 😅) will be super excited about the new S24 Ultra, but we have to think if it's really worth it because we have great options already on the market.
Yes, Samsung promises to revolutionize the industry with the implementation of Galaxy AI, but we can't forget that many phones that have been released recently will also be able to do similar things.
I also discuss the camera issue in this video because I know that the Galaxy S24 Ultra won't have a 10X zoom camera. But is that a problem? Or will the new 50MP sensor compensate for the 5X zoom?
Here are some of the key considerations to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to buy the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra:
💸 Price: The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to be priced at around $1,200. This is a significant investment, so it's important to make sure that you're getting the features and performance that you need.

their AI feature is 'photoshopping' on the go, you don't need to toss it into lightroom and edit it. (e.g. cropping out people and replacing the background with AI)

I don’t really care about the AI features honestly. So far, it just kind of seems to add features so you can fake your photos to make your life look more interesting. I think it defeats the purpose of the photo. We take photos to remember moments in time, with AI, you make up a fake moment in time.

I own a canon R8 with an 16mm Lens for Real Estate shoots but I prefer using the S23 for videos for the practicality of it. Its light and the quality after export the video for the consumer he won't tell the difference. And the wide camera on the S23 Ultra is far better in small rooms. So I use for work. That's why I will consider buying the S24 Ultra but only after a lot of reviews and making sure it's worth it. So far the S23 Ultra is getting the job done and I'm "ultra" happy with it. I'm upgrading from the Fold5. I've tried the Fold and realized it's just not for me. I don't actually use the inner screen that much and the outer screen is frustrating to use sometimes and lacks S Pen support. About a month ago I actually decided that I would prefer an S23 Ultra when I heard that the S24 Ultra was going to have a flat screen and none of the other leaked features really sparked my interest. But when I looked on the Samsung website they had run out of the S23 Ultra models. I'm not a fan of buying used phones so I'm waiting to see what trade in deals Samsung will offer before deciding which one to purchase.

No nothing crazy at all s24 ultra has 2 more features that s23 ultra won't have on 6.1 update when 6.1 update hits going have same A.i features then s24 ultra but only 2 features that s23 ultra won't have but going he 15% faster chipset and to camera is a downgrade taken off 10x zoom putting a 5× zoom wtf samsung that stupid and a titanium frame going break easy and flatscreen I don't like at all!! Yea I'm keeping my s23 ultra till the s26 ultra comes out!

Hi Alex, loving all the content as always. I've just purchased the S24 Ultra and I used to use an app called Smooth Sync to manage my Google and iCal calendar on my S23, but for some reason the app isn't compatible with the S24. Do you have any apps to recommend that would replace this? Thank you.

I have 2 phones S22U and iPhone 15 pro max. In my experience of owning both. I have owned the iPhone for only a month but the 3x and 10x zoom on the S22U is more useful for me in many scenarios. I have watched 3 concerts already in the past month and if I want to see the action on the stage I always gravitate on my 10x zoom on S22U and the 3x zoom is better for portrait and shooting people.

I won't be getting the S24. In fact, the only reason I have an S23 is because my S22 cracked, otherwise I would have kept it. These little increments of improvements don't justify spending that kind of money!

Depends upon the trade in. Samsung used to give almost the cost of the new phone. I got $800 plus a case, charger, and ear buds on the S22 U. If Samsung goes back to those days, it will be well worth it.

If the only reason u got the s23 is cuz ur s22 cracked, why not just get it fixed? 🤔 Wouldn't it be cheaper to fix a cracked screen or back of phone than buying a new phone? U make no sense! And of course there isn't going to be big differences between the s23 or s22, it's only been 2 yrs. This is for people who have had their phone for 3 or more years. There's no reason to upgrade yearly unless u have money to waste yearly.

@@rickjason215Last year in USA they only gave $550 for s22 ultra toward s23 ultra. And this year they are removing 10x optical and in some regions regressing back to Exynos. So even a generous trade-in (which I don't anticipate) would not make me want to upgrade from s23 ultra. 8g2 has such good thermals and effeciency. Not sure it would be a better phone.

My S22 Ultra 1TB has been slow latley, especially it gets stuck on slow wifi connection and does not switch to 5G automatically.. just loads slow. Any tips for making it run faster? Any better 5G settings for USA /AT&T?

I've actually been surprised by how well Bixby call screening service works. I mean I didn't even know that was a thing until I got OneUI 6 but I've used it a couple times now and it seems like it works as well as the Google call screening. I can't wait to see what Samsung has in store for the S24U. I just hope we get a good enough trade in value that I can justify buying it 😅

I love how you switched from iPhone. I did as well after I was totally blown away by Android --- I just couldn't believe how I lived with Apple! LOL I did go to the Pixel line last year but am going to get the 24U this month. I do have a question, do the Samsungs still have the notification setting that you can change the colors around the edges of the screen?

I had s23u and swapped for iPhone 15pro. I prefer Samsung as it is a real ‘smartphone’; iPhone I’m afraid not so much 😊 Then I am changing for s24u.

@@jcap8391certain photos the pro max will be better but it's never good enough to the point that it out performs the galaxy. The hardware in iPhone has always been ass and the 15 was the laugh stock of the phone world in 2023. The software is the only decent thing about iPhones. When it comes to the two phones and people that own them you'll always see them say s23 whenever your argument is "Certain types of photos look better" then you don't have an argument when literally everything else about the other phone is superior

I’m happy with my 15 pro after switching from the fold5. It’s the size and weight that I really like. Hand fatigue was a real thing for me unfortunately. Plus being able to use my Apple Watch again is a plus.

Thank you Alex for all your advices. I'm currently very hesitant between this S24 ultra or Z Fold 5 as i'm currently on my Z Fold 3. I 've read that Samsung will bring new screens and perhaps a new battery to Z fold 6 but no changes with cameras sensors until fold 7. Fold 5 price are dropping very quickly. Thanks in advance

The S24 Ultra sounds like the refined version finally, flat edges, symmetrical bezels all around etc., like what I considered the base S22 to be back in 2022 (that phone was visually perfect. The prettiest phone ever in my opinion). But the S23 Ultra hardware wise is great too. Snapdragon in the EU, great camera sensors and all that stuff. I've seen a video demonstrating how snappy One UI 6.1 is and the features it brings with the Ultra HDR, webcam mode and others and I'm all for it. I expect all the features to come to S23 series and S22 series as well. I'm keeping my S23 Ultra this year.

After going from a 13 Pro Max to a 15 _Pro_ (as I was getting fed up of the extra bulk & weight of the Max's & the Ultras), I'm loving it. I also downsized from the S23U to a Z Flip 5...same with that. The one thing that's stopping me from keeping it longer-term is the camera! Though it's quite decent enough...having no optical zoom reduces its flexibilty bc I use the zoom a LOT, so it was only meant to be a fairly temporary downsize. So I'm looking to get the S24 (std size) when it's released but I feel phone manufacturers are missing out on a lot of potential like-minded customers by not having the same features on their smaller models, that's on the big boys. I was *really* tempted to get the Pixel 8, but again, it's missing some of the features of the Pro...and not because of physical limitations either...some justification for the 'Pro' monika had to be seen I guess....

Thanks for the video. Is the Samsung s23 ultra still your daily driver, and are you planning on getting the S 24 ultra. Are you still recommending the S 24 ultra over the P8P. I am in the same boat as you are. I am in the Apple ecosystem, but always willing to try another device that works well. I did pre-order the S 24 ultra, but still wondering if it would be a better value to get the P8P, or is the S 24 ultra going to really give you roughly $300(roughly the price difference between the two) increased performance in productivity, multitasking, and camera/video benefits.

Curved started @ 2019 for S10 model which my bro had. But problems were screen protector it keeps on bubbling up and starts to damage protector and looks dirty. So I'm looking 4word 4 clean screen looks. I'm just waiting because my family current S9. I'm wanting 4 this S24 Ultra after 6 years of using oldies. It's about 🕑 4 me N whole family 2 change to S24 Ultra.

Definitely waiting for reviews!!! There are some camera features that I care about and that need to be better out of the box. If they are, then yes. But I won't count on software updates to improve things like I did with the S23 Ultra.

I hate the curved edge of the S23U because its impossible the click on or select things right near the edge (I can never drag video sliders back to 0:00) ..I might upgrade just for the flat screen.

What makes me consider getting this is that there is no dynamic island that gets annoying overtime and blocks so much of the screen. Also, this is not 60 fps, it is 120 which should already be the standard for flagship phones.

About the speakers. I think Samsung has a content filter. When you play a low quality crappy tv show, they lower the volume so it doesn't torture the people around you.

Why do RU-vidrs and so many people in the comments section often point out the faults in a phone only just before they're ready to upgrade to it's successor? The weak speakers was one of the first things I noticed about the S23 Ultra. I haven't heard any other RU-vidr mention this yet.

I have iphone 11 pro at the moment and the samsung s24 ultra have the 50 mp telecamera that i want. To get this in iphone i have to wait until iphone 17 pro max and i m sick on waiting. There might be a12x periscope on 16 pro max but they anyway dont do. To upgrade the 11 pro with a apple phone at the moment, i see no reason because its just the same phone. So the difficult choice trying the samsung for 2 years? Nothing against samsung but they use android and i dont know if i get along with this. Did someone tried something like this already and can tell how it was.

Hi Guy, First of all overall I like your videos. Keep up the nice smile. I don't think I'm going to get the Galaxy S24 Ultra, because I can't afford it and it truly is just an incremental upgrade. I have a Moto ThinkPhone and it's pretty terrific. If Samsung truly wants to win me over, they would need to give me a super terrific trade-in or something worth the switch. I only want 2 things to be improved, the shutter lag wich will get improved with the so called " e2e remosaic " And animations to be more closer to perfection like ios and harmony os ( but with fast animations unlike ios animations wich are slow) Other than that i don't really care as long longevity gets improved because of the better chip , it has all my 2024 smartphone standards..

@AlexGTech I think It's gonna get literally no shutter lag at all with the s24ultra we will be able to take 200mp photos no problem. Also I wanna request something really important to me , does the s23ultra have any stutters to you ? I mean every phone has some from.time to time but how does it compare with pixels and iphones according to your experience, does the galaxy have less or more stutters or you can't really tell the difference. Also i would love a section on your s24ultra review that you talk about the fluidity. Overall I prioritise features over fluidity but damn these phones are too expensive to not think about fluidity and I really want your opinion.

I'm a happy S23 Ultra 512G owner, since the first week of launch. And frankly, I don't think it's worth changing now... But curious to learn more about the "improvements" the S24 Ultra brings. Knowing that most of them will be present in a new upgrade for the S23 ultras. Might be thinking in an upgrade in 2 to 3 years. As the S23 Ultra is the best phone of last year, with a bunch of upgrades to come. The power this phone has, with 12 G of ram and the snapdragon, guarantees a few years of great usage of this machine.

A level headed review. I used my Note 10 Plus for over 4 years. I decided not to wait for the S24 Ultra and bought the S23 Ultra 512 GB model two days before Xmas. One always expects the latest to be the greatest but it’s not always true. Imo only the Note 2,4,9, 10 Plus and S23 Ultra were great phones. The Note 7 was derailed by the battery issue. Even in iOS the latest iPhone isn’t always the greatest. Imo the iPhone 11 PM and 13PM were better than their successors. Hopefully Samsung will continue to steadily improve. I’ll not be considering any Samsung phone until the S25 Ultra. I’ll most likely be tempted to replace my iPhone 11 Pro Max with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

After you touch that Ultra, you will look at your iPhone way differently. iOS will feel limited compared to One UI.

I bought my Poco X3 Pro a year after it came out and have been enjoying it ever since, but it's about time I feel the need to buy a new phone. Thanks to my previous experience, staying out of the blue and buying a good phone from last year that isn't on the bleeding edge of the advertisements and hype is not that much of a deal to me; after all, the most logical choice is always going for the devices that have proven themselves in a considerable amount of time, not the devices that are just going to enter the market. There's no doubt that the S24 Ultra will be a great phone, and I will consider buying the s24u when it's out, but I will wait. If it fails to live up to all the AI buzz that surrounds it for now, I would go for the S23 ultra straight away, and the big difference in the price only strengthens the weight of the scale in favor of the s23u.

This phone is going to be the best. I know that. But the thing is i have a lot of stack of UV screen protector already for my s23 ultra and I have almost 1TB worth of data to transfer over the new samsung. I aint into backup and restore because smart switch doesnt carry over anything so im sticking with my s23 ultra

I love the S Series from Samsung and have been a Samsung user for years, but I don’t think after using the Z Fold 5, I can move back to a regular S Series phone from Samsung. The best investment this year is going to be the Z Fold 6 with changes in the aspect ratios of the displays, improved camera hardware and all the AI goodness from the S Series. The Z Fold 6 will be an absolute beat this year that will be hard for any other brand to beat.
