Agree with your conclusions here. Samsung for daytime videos, front camera and portraits. Vivo for basically everything else, with a strong advantage in zoom and lowlight. I think Vivo need to improve their audio recording quality though in subsequent flagship phones.
Vivo sets a pretty high bar, especially for low light shots. But the S24U is supposed to be getting a camera update this coming week so maybe you could revisit this comparison to see if that changes anything.
Tomorrow Samsung will release Camera Software update, becuz right now, they are using beta camera software, becuz right now is still in pre order timeline.
I've got the S23 and so far I'm actually underwhelmed. Mainly in artificial low light like restaurants and house lights Really interested in the vivo x100 pro and the xiaomi 14 ultra when that comes out
I’ve yet to see a perfect camera that’s superior in every lighting condition, for all activities, and all angles. In most camera comparisons, often I either can’t tell the difference, or have no preference. In this comparo however, the Vivo clearly takes the win in my eyes for its superior performance in dynamic range, sharpness, and color.
I don't agree with you on *dynamic range*, during the daylight videos, the S24 Ultra had better, well lit shadows, whereas, most of the shadows on the trees far away on the vivo looks darker.
Nothing this year will be better than the S24U as an overall phone. Just camera might be better on one, charging better on another but nothing will be able to top the S24U overall and thats the case almost every single year.
As a vivo user and ex-samsung iphone user . The vivo system is pretty good too and I fell in love with it . The only downside on vivo phones is the availability and maintenance 😢
@@umeremad2123You're so wrong on that one bro. This is definitely Vivo's year. The only reason why Samsung had always been the best overall the past few years is because of expensive camera and mic parts which have now significantly reduced in price. With a much competitive pricing in vivo; competitive software, hardware, charging, and customer support, samsung might actually get taken down depending on Vivo's Plus release. The only thing I hate about vivo is their problem with EIS+OIS, if they manage to get over that, they will be on top of bang for buck phones. Who doesnt want a bang for their buck anyway? 😅 and I wish they put 2k 120fps for their front instead of forcing 4k 30s which dont rlly work well. I dont mind if they increase it 100-300$ more just for those feature I like their AI better and theyre too cheap to not be noticed anyway.
I was thinking about x100Pro or Find X7 Ultra, I've checked, Vivo lacked one band I think it was 2100MHz LTE, also these awesome two periscopes on X7, two new sony sensors for Main and Ultrawide... I couldn't resist myself, I had to get the X7 I know Vivo left some countries because of some Nokia Patents or something, they said they used them without permisions or something.
@@MegaLol2xdOppo Find7 Ultra a little bit noise when recording video/photo at LowLight Condition. Also darksport especially for zooming..(Mybe lack of hasselblad software camera) But so good at cooling system stabile heat for FPS gaming. Can recording dual video at same time (front+rear) 4K Selfie Camera Dual Periscope 50MP
it already is, i would wait and order x100 pro+ next month, it will be the same price in china as x100 pro in europe and origin OS is superior to funtouch except you will lack android auto
Vivo for me since I mostly go out at night. I need that low light still photo strength. but it still has the same problem as previous models, like in X90 Pro+, too much smoothening of skin! Especially in selfies. I hoped they toned that down but it seems the same with the X100 Pro
@@samson4415If a car manufacturer will release a new model in 3 months, you can name however you wish. And that absolutely fine for you, isnt it? If you care about the subject, name the products correctly.
Before watching the video, I am absolutely sure that you worked seriously and honestly, better than the content creators in my country, Iraq. Thank you. 😊❤
I prefer the VIVO in video daytime, which has better dynamic range and colour science (see clouds and greenery). The S24U wins at night as the VIVO blows out the lights. Vivo wins most of the photos in daylight. The S24U still struggles with moving objects; the duck at 20X was trash. Samsung is great at portraits. Photos on the zoom is better done by the VIVO. Samsung is very noisy; the same issue as the iPhone at 5X. Low-light photos are easy to win by VIVO on all lenses. Samsung has a lot of work to do, as they cannot even beat the VIVO rival to the S24+. Maybe they spent too much time marketing AI instead of upgrading the cameras and getting a solid software release.
The thing is Vivo has a very high ceiling for low light video. It can get a brighter video at low light while retaining more details and less noise, so if Vivo could reduce the auto exposure a bit, then it'll be a huge difference in details. The Sony IMX 989 is a beast. The issue is we are paying 1300usd for the S24 Ultra and only getting a 1/1.3 inch sensor - the smallest in the industry! At this price we deserve both good software and good hardware. Not just software.
@@Udayveer_Singh 😂😂😂 vivo doesn't have yet leaning more on AI but Samesung throw the 10x optical zoom. Oppsss you didn't know yet that vivo X100 Pro is much cheaper by the half of the price of Samesung Galaxy S24 Ultra. 🥴🥴🥴
I think Vivo got more varied colours (aka better HDR) than samsung even in the rear camera tests I think the clouds looked more detailed on vivo, though on ultrawide it's better on samsung or the daylight photos of flower
The hardware used in Vivo x100 pro camera is thousands time better than that of S24 Ultra... In fact the physical size of the main sensor of vivo is 80% larger than that of S24 Ultra. So for better photos, videos and color vivo is way ahead to S24 Ultra. Besides, vivo uses zeiss in built mode where you can easily choose the mode as per your preference. So vivo is a clear winner in camera department, no debate.
Android companies partnering with Leica or Zeiss shows good results on still images. I've been screaming for years for Japanese camera companies to get into smartphones but the Japanese are getting stubborn with change.
Vivo definitely better for zoom samsung has really dropped the ball this year. Here in canada the vivo is almost half the price of thr samsung as well. I dont like the skinny curved screen of the vivo nor the massive camera bump however.
Man, the magic on Vivo when it comes to night-time Photos, the way it retains the highlights very clear, just wow, also the comparisons on the zoom lens also beats Samsung by a high margin, just wow, admiring these phones with my Poco F3😅
Let me tell you that you can capture MUCH better than these with any phone that support RAW photo capturing. If you shoot RAW you will be astonished by the quality during the night. I have tested an S20 FE with RAW capture and completely destroys the JPEG of that Vivo. Of course Vivo will push better quality if you shoot RAW (in theory).
@@zantesh Yes it does. Check your phone if supports RAW (maybe in some Pro mode). You can shoot RAW (it saves a ".dng" file), and edit it a bit with Snapseed. RAW photography kills all that silly JPG output of Vivo, Samsung, Apple etc. I have tested it.
Vivo also supports raw. Yes even I have S20 FE 5G and RAW packs a lot more details as it's uncompressed data. But for low light smartphone sensors are not big enough to take advantage of RAW. RAW is best for day light for smartphones.@@gigamoment
@@gigamoment I'm curious to see a raw comparison. I noticed on my s22 ultra that the raw photos were superior, but you have to balance iso and shutter speed to get the noise levels down.
It's amazing what the Vivo can do. Definitely making me think twice about that smartphone. However, there was weird warping going on at the night time/low light video; the electrical tower in the background looked like it was in an alternate dimension.
Vivo is still the best. It's a pity Samsung can't do more, it's sad. Vivo X 100 Pro Plus, Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Huawei P70 pro are due out soon, and Samsung with iPhone definitely won't catch up with them soon
The zoom downgrade with the S24 ultra is why I'll keep my S23U for now. I tried them side by side (there is a S24 demo unit available in a store nearby) and the S23 Ultra is unmatched after 20x.
Tomorrow Samsung will release Camera Software update, becuz right now, they are using beta camera software, becuz right now is still in pre order timeline.
is not a downgrade, i compared personally s23 ultra vs vivo x90 pro+ with only 3.5x optical and vivo wins in 8 out of 10 scenarios, tiny sensors with big aperture have no place in a flagship
It doesn't matter whatever updates coming. Don't get me wrong, Samy probably beat all competition with S24 series but its not a worth to upgrade from S23U unless you are super rich
@@jemiljmathew9090 samsung can't even make top 15 dxomark =)) pull your head out of the sand, sammy has been releasing the same phone for the last 2-3 years
I expected more of the samsung cam. I tested it in store and it didnt felt great for indoor photos. Noise, text came out blurry when zoomed in on objects.
Vivo is just amazing. Vivo x100 pro is real king of the hill. Bright living blood against the tired monotonous old man Samsung. Vivo is what I will order now.
Sure, but in terms of smartphone sizes, someone can push same quality with different shoot configuration. So, all ends up in the post-processing. Vivo has much more natural look.
Bro you are paying freakin 1300 usd, you deserve both hardware and software at the price. Post processing only makes your shooting process slower, so hardware matters a lot. And at 1300usd it matters a hell lot!!@@gigamoment
Hi and thanks for the excellent video. I own vivo x100 pro and it is the best camera phone ever used (much better than any samsung or iphone) I have a question, I cant find how to trigger the shutter using the volume button? If there is no way to do it, is there any bluetooth trigger you would suggest?
4:27 The zoom king is gone lol! BTW Both are great, but the upcoming VivoX100Pro+ will eat S24Ultra or any other competition for sure. Time to choose wisely.
The Vivo X100 uses Samsung's ISOCELL JN1 sensor which is a bigger sensor for Zoon than what the S24U itself is packing. It's clear that Samsung is focusing more on cost cutting. The Vivo is 50% cheaper.
Which one is better with Autofocus on moving objects like animals? Had an Honor Magic 6 Pro and it was bad with that. Vivo or Samsung better here did i need to stuck with my pixel?
I like the dynamic range with the Vivo when capturing video, but I’m more impressed with the Samsung. At the end of the day, it just comes down to personal preference.
@Techtablets which fone in your opinion is overall better - software, features, cameras. I'm wondering about S24 - maybe after update the camera will be better or they can't fix because hardware is worse? Should I buy x100pro or S24 ultra or maybe wait for Magic 6 Pro. What's is your opinion?
@@Techtablets if I could ask. What's game changer in S24U that you prefer this fone? Camera, battery, display - those things are rather better in X100 Pro 😀
0:38 The 2 Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Flagship Phones!!??? Correct me if I am wrong the Vivo X100 Pro is actually a Mediatek Dimensity 9300 (4 nm) Flagship :-) Also i know you do these comparisons because people ask for it, but why compare 2 phones which are so different in their retail price and camera setup!!?? I just got a Vivo x100 Pro and I am happy that I did because at almost twice the price I have to fork out for an S24 Ultra I take the Vivo anytime!! Can't see much difference between the 2 apart from the unjustified price for the S24 Ultra :-)
Thanks for this video! Nice work !! At first glance, Samsung managed to demolish the best series of phones it has in its portfolio. I don't think that a better selfie and sound than Vivo is worth paying for this phone.
Continuing Samsung's approach to the S24 like the S23, they made the camera seem to be uniformly strong and not too strong in any one area. As far as I know, the s24 models currently in use with the One UI beta version will not be optimized in terms of camera and performance, like the 8 gen 3 chip on the s24 ultra has lower performance than the exynos 2400 on the s24 and s24+, please Try re-evaluating after a new One UI update is available. Having said that, vivo has a very large sensor so it's not surprising if it has many things that are superior to Samsung. If you need a phone to take good photos, I think vivo or companies from China are good choices. price but when it comes to the overall experience of using the phone and camera, apple and samsung are still the top choices.
Vivo's front video quality is kinda soft whereas to Samsung it's sharp due to auto focus. However, having a wide angle video on the front is better. I give Samsung 1-2 month to optimizs the camera quality through software update and it'll shine. Nevetheless, great job always for the comparison!
Thank you for the comparison! great video! I'm curious how the X90 Pro+ match up against the X100 Pro. Is it worth the upgrade? that floating periscope zoom lens on the X100 Pro for macro is indeed impressive compared to the existing typical macro lenses (untrawide).
Please make a camera comparison video between Vivo x100 Pro vs Vivo x100. Searched everywhere but for some reasons no ones seem to be making a video on it
x100 pro cost only half of the 24 ultra yet gives u more(camera, cpu, battery life and charging speed) and came with all the stuff ready to go in box, and the tele lens is a real surprise, it's the best tele i've used by far
Bro,did X100Pro just destroyed the phone(ups, i mean e-waste)of the year?No man, seriously... Those night shots were so bad for soo expensive phone...Samsung,please take a note, those Chinese companies are no joke nowadays,be more serious!
Vivo is doing really well! If they keep this pace of camera improvements, surely they can take the lead very soon. Also Vivo will present a Pro+ version of this phone, with the newest Sony Lytia LYT-900 sensor. Unfortunately it's impossible to have the "perfect" all around cameraphone, but I'm glad Vivo is challeging Samsung! That "mandatory" beauty effect applied, is really annoying, maybe Chinese or Asian people in general might like it, but face texture is better and gives the portrait a true to life look.
X100 with m9300 rock.its amazing how zoom photo vivo can achieve .impressive stuff with bargain price.pixel quantity cannot match pixel quality..size does matter
My opinion: Here, Samsung is better for daytime videos (video continuity, stability, dynamic capture, shadow highlighting, maybe even color), but for night videos, the Vivo X100P is clearly better, with its noise-free recording and better white balance. In photos, the overall picture is more varied, in some cases the S24U is better, in other cases the X100P. In a UW camera, the S24U is clearly better. For the main camera, I like Samsung's color profile a little better, but I don't like its excessive sharpening. The Vivo X100P has a slightly warmer color tone, but has a more natural and detailed picture. 5x and 4.3x telephoto cameras: the S24U's camera looks good up to 10x zoom, but above that, the X100P is clearly better. The Samsung zoom seems more stable, its stabilizer is better. The Vivo is better in night zoom. You can take more spectacular and interesting photos with Vivo. The X100P also has better macro capabilities, but its smaller depth of field due to the larger sensor and bright optics is sometimes a disadvantage. The X100P's zoom also gives more natural-looking photos.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH I am not writing my opinion based on this small test, but after reviewing and studying many other tests. Several testers have a similar opinion.
yes agree to most of the camera comparisons.......vivo with the 1 inch sensor and better night shots with zoom capabilities is bridging the gap .......👍
I agree with you. I love vivo but I use most of the times the camera for human photos and videos so Samsung is my pick. Now there are great discounts at least in Spain so I preordered it. Thank you!
For a moment i was amazed by the video quality of the S24. However, after watching the entire video, thats just it. For 50% more price. You get better video. Lol Happy i got the x100pro then. 😮
Supposedly there's an update coming tomorrow which includes camera update stuff, worst case scenario you'd have to re-test the S24 Ultra photos and videos?
Tomorrow Samsung will release Camera Software update, becuz right now, they are using beta camera software, becuz right now is still in pre order timeline.
@stevin2204 If they do any of that it will be small differences. More noise reduction = less details. They need to stop using worse sensors then what others have. Seems like they did not go for Samsungs new camera sensor. Probably using it next year.
The contrast in Vivo's camera during video shoots feels slightly off-putting. The post-processing excessively accentuates the shadows, resulting in overly dark shadows on faces and background clouds, giving a somber impression to human features. In contrast, the Galaxy S24 appears much more natural. In photos, once again, Vivo's post-processing is disappointing. The excessive blur effect in the photos smears all the textures, which is a significant drawback.
