Got My S24+ today after 10 long years with iPhone. The display at QHUD is amazing and the camera is great too. I got the Pixel 8 but I didn't like it but this S24+ will be my phone from now on.
I usually keep my phone for 4+ years.. i think a majority of people do also. With that in mind, I'd go for the phone that has a longer term for software and security updates. That puts Samsung above the Pixel. It doesn't have to be top tier s24+ or ultra.. the regular s24 is good for my needs (more than good, with features I'll probably never use). With the camera for pictures and videos, they're both good. Plus, i could always use filters or the edit features. The price is comparable. If they make an S24 FE.. I'm on it for sure (currently using an S20FE, and it's the best for everything i need).
Owned both devices (not being a fan of none of them, if anyone cares). Pixel 8 produces obviously better quality of photos for main and UW modules. The reviewer is impudently disinforming the audience
The Pixel is MUCH nicer to hold, with no sharp edges, and I prefer the look. I also prefer Googles camera image's .... but most of all, theres a SIGNIFICANT difference in price, along with better freebies on the Pixel.
Good video, but are you sure about that camera performance? Does the S24 really have a substantially better camera than the Pixel 8? The Pixel 8 currently ranks place 11 at Dxomark which is superb - it's among the best smartphone cameras out there.
S24 User here . A I would have been a good feature to go over comparing the two. I will say with Samsung. You're forced to use Samsung apps for their A. I . And anyone that's tried Samsung keyboard no. As the g board is a thousand times better. Voice dictations better for instance When I say at the end of a sentence period it doesn't write out the word like it just did. It also predicts what i'm saying better. The problem is if you use g board on a Samsung, you can't have access to the A. I. This is a biggie for me
Returning Pixel 8 pro got it on 1/26 replaced on 1/27 battery only lasted for 2hrs got another one battery last pretty good but I have always had samsungs. The cameras great. I think the phone is terriable!
Nice review of both phones. I thought about it and concluded from my observations that many people around me use smartphones that are 4.5 or maybe even 6 years old. Google and Samsung noticed or resisted the fact that you no longer change your phone every 2 years in your subscription. So they know that the customer will use their product for 5 or 6 years, so they tempt the customer with updates. Because the previous generations did not have so many of them, and the race for mpix and weak batteries can be dragged on... Patching holes / updates in the system are also needed more than before because there are a lot of cybercrimes now days.
That seems to be the consensus online, so it's odd for this reviewer to conclude that the S24s has a 'substantially better camera in almost every single way'.
Never been an iPhone user and don't plan to anytime soon. For some reason though I kinda like the more rounded corners of the iPhone (or larger radius) over something like the Pixel or the S24. It does something to the aesthetics of the phone that I like but I'm not entirely sure why. The smaller radius corners are gonna be better for viewing the screen for watching vids and stuff but I still like the iPhone look better.
Bro please use app launching speed by disabling animation speed from the developer option. From this way we can actually calculate actual app launching time.
Great vid. Try speaking a little slower, specially when mentioning the small details like RAM etc. because you are going so fast, you omit the end of words.
7:48 when I realized you could see the detail in the wood grain of your table through the galaxy camera better than the video that’s when I knew what phone to pick
I have the S23 and it's sooo much better than the Pixel 8. Trust me, I compared those two for days and I wasn't too impressed by the Pixel. And I tried pretty much everything on both phones, even a side by side comparison. The S23 is so much faster, even the camera can compete with the Pixel as well. So, the S24 must be even better.
I loved my samsungs but the only.think what i mention is cause my mom use my "old phones". S7 Died, S9 Plus has red Display and the s20plus red Display to. The"longevity" of Samsung phones in my opinon is obsolet after 3yeas of usage..
Be interesting to see how these 2 phones compared 5 years down the line. Battery and processor aging comparison or how many times the battery was replaced and if anything else broke along the way.
Both are the best on the market for compact phones. All depends on what you want. Can't complain on both bother are the best on the market only reason went withbthe pixel 8 was it was out before the s24 and I owe 1000$ on it on a contract. And see me reason why to upgrade.to th s24 same one almost. The pixel 8 is there own and no blot wear
My wife and I went from a Galaxy Note 10/s22 to two Pixel 6's and now its time to upgrade. We'll probably go back to Samsung and the main reason is build quality and glitchiness. I assumed the Pixels would be a smoother software experience. Its definitely a simpler interface but significantly glitchier. Android auto and youtube in particular are way glitchier on the Pixels. Also the Pixel touch screen isnt as responsive or accurate. The build quality on the pixels is also clearly worse. I had to take my Pixel 6 apart to fix a common loose connector issue. Both our Pixels arent holding up nearly as well as our old samsungs (which we let the kids use as little tablets). When i pick up my old Galaxy Note 10 it still performs great after 4 years! Ill be shocked if these Pixel 6's can make it that far. Its very possible that google has improved their manufacturing quality for the Pixel 8 but Samsung has had their quality dialed in for a long time and is the safer bet if you care about it holding up for a long time. The Pixels are simpler to use and the camera software is fantastic. But their price reflects their quality. I KNOW a samsung will be rock solid for 3 years, a Pixel going that long is a gamble.
Also I've had my Pixel 6 on "battery saver" mode since day 1. Permanently sacrificing some of its main "always on AI features" just to not have to constantly worry about battery life. I'm sure the Pixel 8's are better but tests are showing that the Samsung chips are still way ahead of Google's Tensor chips for battery life. Looking forward to going back to a better phone battery situation with Samsung.
The point if reviewing these is that not everyone can get their hand on them to do it themselves. With those anyone with $100-250 can. Might be a market for it though
Sorry but I have to be honest, this was a pretty weak review, especially the completely non-objective camera bit. I've owned every generation of pixel and samsung S over the past 5 or so years and the Pixel camera is consistently far better, especially if you ever need to shoot a picture of something that is not completely still or if you're in low light. The Samsung always smooths the edges of things way too much as well. Sure the S24 has the zoom lens, but that's pretty much the only area where it beats the pixel. One other thing to note is on Pixels, the super annoying jittery scrolling. I've suffered with this from Pixel 6 to now my Pixel 8. It is pathetic. This is the reason why I keep going back to the S series. The Pixel feels like you're using a cheap mid-tier phone because of the jittery scrolling and random crashes of things whereas the S provides a smoother overall experience... I always just miss the Pixel camera though, especially for photographing my young kids who won't sit still.
