After using this phone for over a week as my daily driver, I have to say that I am a little surprised at the review of its battery life. While it is not exceptional by any means, I'm routinely getting 13 or 14 hours out of the charge with at least three hours of on-screen time. As an example, I put my phone on the charger yesterday with three hours and 19 minutes of on-screen time, and I still had about 34% of the battery left to go. About half was on 4G, and half was on Wi-Fi. So I really am surprised that reviewers, even ones that I respect a lot like Michael, are getting the results they are. For what it is worth, I saw the battery life jump up quite a bit after disabling Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. In any event, I typically go through at least two phones a year, and this one is probably my all time favorite thus far. It is an elegant and well-rounded device, and I think is worth the price tag.

Hey man, yep I'm still using it and it has held up quite nicely! I've almost filled er up at this point with mainly photos and videos so i need to dump them on a computer, but it hasn't slowed it down much or anything. The camera takes amazing footage and pictures, the clearest I've ever seen on a phone. But the SCREEN man, it's just so fucking VIBRANT. Especially if you slap a nice hi rez, colourful wallpaper on it. My one issue is with playing music on it - sometimes when i plug my headphones in, it automatically opens this dumb "google app" which brings a bunch of my recent google searches onto the screen, and if it happens while spotify is playing, it'll make the phone freeze up and the music starts glitching out. I think i need to disable/uninstall this "google app" program - and i think it HAPPENS because my dumb headphones have a mic attached, so when i plug them in, the internal phone microphone attempts to listen to outside noises and it just fucks things up. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. Other than that, the phone is glorious. (Also, my buddy has the s6 edge+, and the regular s6 edge looks and feels way better) AND YES GOLD IS SUPER SEXY ON IT! Best colour available, and more rare!........... this might be the longest youtube comment i've ever made LOL, enjoy the phone!
you guys are all complaining about the battery issue and what y'all don't know is that you're brightness affects the battery, that's why the phone overheats. do you really need your phone on 100% brightness? think about that! when you're not using it, put the brightness down. if you're listening to music, u don't need the brightness. at night also you don't need the brightness at 100%. Also when you aren't using you're phone or when it's charging, put it on airplane mode. it saves battery and it makes it charge faster! Your welcome!
But even with low brightness this battery won't last long. I had a Xperia Z that has a 2330 mA battery and the phone died really fast even with low brightness.

I've had the S6 edge since it came out. I love it! I'm on my phone a lot and the battery life is really good almost a full day for me. It really is beautiful too.
I've had the S6 edge for about 10 days now. Going from the HTC M8, which had good battery life,this device is only slightly worse (on T-Mobile). Like all phones, you get more on screen time if you immediately use the battery by using the screen, rather than the more usual scenario in which you drain the battery over a day by gradually using the screen along with other tasks (GPS, stand-by etc). The battery life issues are completely over-rated. This phone easily out-performs the regular iPhone 6, and almost approaches the iPhone 6 plus. I think a lot of the negative reviews with battery life have to do with the S5 having amazing battery life, and this one being worse than that. Also, like all initial/new phone usage, you tend to think the phone's battery sucks initially because you're constantly turning it on when its a new toy; after a while, when you have gotten use to it, it easily gets you through a day.
The battery may not be god awful but there are users in forums everywhere complaining of poor battery. It may be okay for you. But you're exaggerating if you say it approaches iPhone 6+ battery. No way, but I understand you have to defend your purchase

I have the s6 edge, battery life has been great, I use my phone pretty much constantly through out the day and it lasts much longer than the note 3 or s4 that I used previously. It will last me around 12-14 hours with heavy to moderate usage, and the fact that the charge time is so quick it's been a huge plus for me.
I love what Samsung has finally done with the S6 in general, but it's a bit sad to see that they haven't done too much with the edge of the S6 Edge. Hopefully future updates roll out more features, which I'd love to see.

Looking at the Google play services I can tell that's where your battery drain is coming from I get 11hrs the least 3-4 hrs screen on time...great review btw
Houston Wilson That's still kind of bad battery life. They screwed up putting that 2k display in there. It might be beautiful but a 1080p display would've evened out battery life and made it even better.
Lyubo Raev well idk about his device but even though it's a 2k screen it's very power efficient sometimes mine will say 5 to 10% usage with 2hrs and a half screen on time so I can see why they went with a 2k screen my battery life is great so far not excellent, you can't expect excellent battery out of a device this size imo the battery life is still better than a lot of other phones.
Houston Wilson I guess I'm just spoiled by Sony's battery life. Ever since the Z2, now Z3 I've been able to reach 8-10 hours of screen on time over 2 days and my usage has adapted to that. I'm pretty sure it'll take some getting used to anything less.
Houston Wilson it's pretty much stock android with lollipop. I'd suggest you go to a store and just try it. That's the only way to find out if it's for you.

power moves ME and my brother have the same apps and use our phones the same way. I'm talking about real world performance. I fixed my issue tho disabling wifi calling and VoLTE which drain the hell out of the battery.
I still use my S6 Edge Plus to this day and all apps are still supported and it just got a software update as well, I will continue using this device for a long time further
i dont get everybodys problem here. i got 4h 20mins display on time and still 20% bat left. and thats the exception for me since i had a long train ride.but it still lastet the whole day. yes ok, people do use their phones differently but when i hear people complaining that they cant have 6h display on and cant help but ask: what do you do all day besides beeing stuck behind a smartphone screen? and after reading comments, it feels like: i want 80% brightness all the time and gaming with 60fps for3 hours staight and still have 60% left". um yea, you guys werent around when the gamegear and the gameboy were competing, were you?

Mr.Sheepington well, let me set the parameters. if you have full reception no gps and and nothing that drains like that and display brightness is around 20 25% (which is enough if no sun shines on the display) 1 hour of youtube consumes like ~12% battery in wlan. i dont play that much games on the one, so i have only one example for you: ive played the whole campaign of cyberlords: arcology which took me around 2,5 hours and it used around 60%. but i cant say how much precessing power it takes so that you can compared it to other games.
+Mr.Sheepington I have the s6 edge, and i can clearly say the battery life is awesome.I can get easly 4 and a half, and sometimes more then 5 hours screen on time with wifi on all the time. Samsung really fixed the battery life of s6 in marshmallow.
I think its the issue with 3g and 4g, the people who use 3g or 4g cant get more than 2 and a half hours ost, but if you only use wifi, you can easily get 5-6 hours ost, it always depend on your screen brightness and your general usage, phone can last all day long if you have 50% screen brightness and just be for example on facebook and instagram, but if you also want the phone that you can play games all day and not charge it until night, then you should go for s7 or even s7 edge. Also this is just my experience with the phone it just depends on your usage really.
i want to upgrade to S6 soon but the battery life is meh on it. Coming from a OnePlus One that always lasts me a day with 5-7 hours of screen on time usually depending what i do... Is it really worth it.
CyanOG Gaming and Tech You must have noticed Google Play Services draining the battery. In that case, you should be able to fix it aswell ;) The S6 is a battery champ, just like the OnePlus One ONLY if neither of those phones get drained by ridicilous Google services. I've experienced this myself. On my S4, I went from daily 6-7 hours of screen on time to JUST 2! The idle drain was ridicilous! All because of that stupid Google Play Services or Android system! My ridicilous issue fixed itself after 4 days luckily. There are a lot of people where they still suffer from this issue as it's not related to a brand. It's related to all phones running Android.
CyanOG Gaming and Tech I have the Galaxy S6 edge and the battery life has been superb so far. With the Galaxy S6 edge I'm getting 5.5 hours on-screen time, whereas I only get 3.5 hours with my iPhone 5S. The battery technology inside the Galaxy S6/S6 edge is very high tech. Fast charging battery charger comes out of the box and it charges the Galaxy S6/S6edge from 0%~100% in about an hour. The iPhone 6/6+ charges >hours.

Verni171994 To be fair, Michael Fisher says all Android 5 Lollipop phones crashes in the ordinary S6 review. And I can confirm that in my personal experience, KitKat is more reliable.
Verni171994 for someone that barely uses their phone, sure the S6 can have a 'good' battery life. For someone that uses their phone more this battery's comparable to the Nexus 5. 3-4 hours of screen on and it almost never lasts me a full day(from 07:00 to 23:00).
Lyubo Raev Generally, 4 hours screen on time while lasting from morning until night is considered "good" battery life.Surprisingly, my Z2 gets around 5 hours of screen on time with about 20% battery left by the time I plug it in at night. Not sure what Sony did, but they must have found a nuclear reactor small enough for a phone. It's a shame they have sort of bland design choices.

I got this phone on my 17th birthday which was about 2 months ago, I automatically knew this was the phone for me, not cheap but worth it. As for the battery life it's pretty decent, also I've dropped my phone so many times on the floor and in water without a case and just a few minor scratches. Clean smart phone with a clean feel to it.
The edge notification is a neat idea but you still need to have the phone out and on your desk to see them. I got a Pebble watch which links up with my phone through bluetooth. Whenever the phone gets an incoming call or SMS, the watch vibrates and I can just glance at the watch to see if it's worth pulling out the phone. It's a lot less obtrusive, especially in a meeting.
phonearena, gsmarena, Android authority, supersaf tv,zedomax etc etc all the other reviews say s6 has at least decent battery life and they all get more than 4 hours of screen on time. i think it's something MF does specifically that drains the battery more. it's more clear that this is the case now that i see his statistics. all the other reviewers have screen as a no1 battery drain but in MF's statistics it's google play service and andorid os!! wtf?
bother don I'm getting 4.5 hours of screen on time with my Galaxy S6 which is better than my iPhone 6 (only 3.5 hours of screen on time). I think Michael Fischer is biased, I could smell the bias from a mile.
I had this phone for more than a week and I love it! I don't play games on it. Just social media and messages and calls. Love it so much and the camera is brilliant. My battery lasts me the whole day☺️

Joshua Pullins I'm getting between 5~5.5hrs SOT on my Galaxy S6. Strange that this review is saying very different numbers from the majority of people. The majority of people with the Galaxy S6 are getting better battery life than HTC One M9/iPhone 6. And that's with Quad-HD display on the Galaxy S6 compared to the HTC One M9/iPhone 6's much lower res screens.
I have the galaxy s6 tmobile version and I am getting 3.5 hours of on screen battery life. The worst thing is when I fully charge my phone before I go to sleep and my phone drains over 30% in under 7 hours just sitting on my night stand. There is obviously major bugs on this phone and there better be a hot fix coming soon or I will return it.

Doug Cannon I had a 5c, and I can reassure that it is worth it to upgrade. The S6 has better specs compared to the Iphone, and it has Android, so if you are a person who likes to change your phones experience, then go with ANY Android device. Also if you would like to save 100 dollars get the normal S6, though the prices are expected to lower. If you want a simple experience, then get a Iphone 6, it is the same price compared to the S6.

Back in the days I see people with iphone 4 and 4s, and then later, everyone had androids, and now today is 50/50 with the iphone 6/6s plus and samsung s6/s6 edge. Now today is like which one should I go with? The 6s plus or the s6 edge, I wanna go for the bigger phone since I have big hands. And beside I am just gonna wait till the end of my two year contract until I get the latest android to my liking. Beside the end of my two year contract doesn't end till my birthday next year in 2016 in june so that's when I got my very first smartphone for my 18th birthday. I hope they have new androids released before june if they are ahead of apple. I really either want a note s5 or even an s6 if they have one with the edge version because the edge is my kind of thing. Being in college, lay my phone on the desk in silence mode, get a text message and read it on the side and beside in college I can take notes and save up paper using the note edge
The best review I've seen so far for the Edge... the regular S6, apart from its impressive specs, let's face it: it looks just like another smartphone - not special in any way, but this looks and feels just exquisite, especially due to the enhancement of the feel and look of that utterly gorgeous screen (go to a store, play one of its quadHD demo videos in its gallery and you'll know what I'm talking about). I've tried both of the siblings and this is definitely the phone to buy. It even removed the iPhone6+ out of my sights completely...
This has to be one of the best reviews out there if not the best. Well done!!! The only thing that stopped me of taking a contract of the s6 edge was the Note 5. Being a big fan of the note series, I couldn't forgive myself using the s6 when the note 5 with al the features present in the s6 will be there. 5 months or so to go, I'll wait...
cd2ogz1 Yeah, but I got a Note 4 with multiple batteries and there is no better feeling than being able to go from 0% to 100% in under 10 seconds by swapping out the battery.
cd2ogz1 You can't justify bad battery life by saying to just get a portable battery pack. Phones have batteries in the first place so you don't have to carry around extra stuff. It's the reason smartphones got popular in the first place: the functionality of a small computer in your pocket. You shouldn't NEED a portable battery pack.
Don't be a fan boy. Like michael fisher said samsung uses to make fun of iphone calling apple wall huggers because of poor battery life on the iphone 4 and 5 and 5s. Now that the s6 and s6 edge has bad battery life you say just get a battery pack and you will be fine. I have a rav power 13000 mah battery pack for my lg g2. Even though my g2 has 3000mah battery which is good. I hate having to carry this battery pack around with me if I'm going to be out all day. It's tedious to carry around a battery pack. And why is samsung even still putting under 3000mah batteries in their phones in the first place? The s6 and s6 edge should have at least 3100mah battery they know how much people be on their phones these days and they're going to put grabage battery life in this high powered phones. That's like Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche putting only 200 horse power in instead of 600 plus horse power in their supercars ridiculous.
+Andres Martinez I'd say no. It is a great phone though. I am on my second EDGE now as a few cars drove over my first one and it got totaled physically (still working though). I find it to be very much the same and as good as the iphone 6. Its like having the same phone I think with just different software.
This was extremely insightful. I'm glad I didn't rush out and buy this phone, some things that are VERY important to me in any phone is if it has a good camera,is water proof,stylish and has a good battery life. And considering that this phone doesn't,I'm going to have to kiss it goodbye. I hope you give a review on s6 edge+.

+GeoMCFC I say get what you feel like, but in my opinion I would get the Galaxy S6. Seeing as you have an iPhone already you're too used to iOS and because of that you might get bored of the iPhone 6S, so with the Galaxy S6 it gives you a WHOLE new world. (No pun for Aladin XD)
I personally hate the design of this phone and the battery life is shit. So if I were you I'd go with 6s. Plus I had a Samsung and it got a virus. The phone was a piece of crap lol
The battery on my galaxy s5 was amazing. I got the s6 edge about 3 weeks ago, and the battery isn't bad. It'll still last me the whole day on one charge. I charged my phone 22 hrs ago. And now I'm on 5%. From what my system is telling me, the play store and the cell phone stand by is what eats my battery.
Pretty cool. I'm an iPhone user. I prefer the simplicity and a lot of the little extra stuff with Samsung I don't use. Cool that there is so much variety.
Companies really need to start doing alot more with the battery technology in these flagship devices. Yes its great to have an amazing spec. A great screen. Brilliant camera. However all these things mean the battery life will be low. It's also commendable that this particular device has fast charging but even that's not much use when you're out and about.
That phone looks amazing... I've got 15months left on my contract on my HTC One m8 (which i also luv) excited about what the next big flagship will be when my fone times up!!!

I got the phone today and I can honestly say it was definitely worth the buy. The battery life isn't too great, but not as bad as this reviewer makes it out to be. 9/10
After testing it for the last couple of weeks, I can say that the Edge is more than just an aesthetic adornment. Sure, it needs improvement for display purposes, like you mentioned that it cuts headlines in half. But it improves usability and makes image based apps more visually pleasing and fun to use.
Oh my god. The Edge looks soo gorgeous. I was actually thinking about canceling my iPhone 6 Plus service at Sprint JUST to get the Edge! Can you believe a loyal Apple fan would say something like that lol
