Samsung engineer #1: do we pump up the battery this year as well? Samsung engineer #2: Carl gtfo *continues the meeting normaly* people can just charge their phone.. if it's still intact
Why to get iPhone 7: 1. No headphone jack (must use bluetooth headphones - waste battery) 2. New wireless headphones for £160 (removed wires and charged you more for it -_-) 3. Wired headphones occupy charge port now (cant charge phone while listening to music - more battery waste unless you have a wireless charger - more unnecessary spending -_-)
Double O Why to get iPhone 7 1. No Headphone Jack 2. Stupid huge camera bump 3. Thick Bezels 4. Same boring design from the past 4 years 5. Overpriced 6. 750p or 1080p LCD washed out displays 7. Same stupid battery that dies in 2 hours 8. You get apple stickers in the box ._. lol
It's not an immense upgrade, like you say the battery efficiency is being "bumped up", for an s8 + it should really have more than 3500. The differences are the front camera, new design, Bixby and faster for a while. My S7 edge is getting slower and every now and then switches itself off but I don't think it's worth the upgrade, nothing really special and with Google releasing a new pixel, a new Xperia, iPhone 8, why go out and buy the first flagship release?
Austin Nwachukwu T-Mobile is selling the s7 edges new for $450 :/ u realistically will only get around 280-300 if u wish to sell t in a reasonable time span
I have a galaxy s4. I am tempted to upgrade to the s8. Should I upgrade? what do you guys think? My s4 shuts down when its battery falls down to 50% or so.
I think its a good upgrade but the S7 has aged the best out of any Samsung's phones so I'd say keep it for a while. I'll probably keep my S7 edge untill the S9 or the Note 8
Even in 2020 i just bought a used s7 and im very happy with it. the camera is incredible for its price, im filming everything at 4k and the amoled display it beautiful. i upgraded from a j7 prime lol
it boggles my mind ....the s7 edge is a phenomenal phone. no real reason to upgrade unless you want Bixby ( Google assistant services and voice services are way better ) even the s6 edge is a great phone today. ( unless you need expandable memory which I understand ) unless you're running and jumping between three games and 4 social media apps together. you will not notice a speed difference immensely between the s6 edge and s8 . mobile phones today are the best example of consumerism. it really is selling...just because it's new.
I have the S7 Edge. I won't consider upgrading to the S8 because I know Samsung will be coming out with the Note 8 later this year. I love the Note series.
it's the same megapixel count as last year, but I heard they're using new sensors. some will use the Sony imx333 and some will use the isocell s5k2l2. and they also said the image processing is better so hopefully it's gonna be a bit better than the s7
There is a new phone every year and every year there is something new to talk about. I currently have the s7. I think I will wait another two years before I get another phone. But this was a good video.
Upgrading from a Note 4. Momentarily had the Note 7 but I'm not waiting for a reboot on that and preordered the S8 Plus. Looks great to me. Thanks for the fun video.
I'm not upgrading to the S8. Not worth the money. Everyone should email Samsung or a rep and tell them to install a removable battery and quit trying to gouge the customer for more money. To replace it you would have to go to a Samsung dealer and pay big to have them do it. It's time to let these big companies to stop killing us for every dime they can get out of us.
I don't thing it's enough to upgrade if you have the S7 or S7 edge because the only thing that's really different is the design. I have the Nexus 6P and I won't upgrade too because Nexus...
I pre ordered the S8+ on Thursday and then changed my mind over night and canceled. switched to the S8. I thought I would want the bigger screen but didn't want to regret having an overall larger phone in pocket compared to the s7 edge which I'm currently rocking.
Side Up Watch movies, play games and browse the internet...There is no way your battery is lasting 2 days 😂...I have 3 S7edge phones in my household and not 1 of them last last 2-3 days...1 whole day...Maybe...But 48hrs using your phone "all day" is BS.
I'm 95% positive it'll still be that way next year around this time, I don't have hopes for iphone and pixel on design department, they both look like toys at toys r us
I currently have an S5, I've had it since it came out and I absolutely adore it, I'd have this phone forever if I could, but it's getting super tired and I can't afford a new handset outright and I'm due an upgrade in a few days so I'm probably gunna get a newer model. I was looking at getting an S8+ until I realised how big it was. It sounds really silly and it probably wouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone else, but my hands are tiny and even my S5 is a bit of a struggle sometimes and that's only 5.1"... so I'm probably gunna upgrade to an S7 and then see what else Samsung come out with in the coming years. Hopefully they won't keep making them bigger 'cause... yikes. I love Samsungs, I'll probably stick with them for as long as they keep producing phones, but I reeeally hope they bear in mind that making screens bigger also makes them less user friendly for some people - a.k.a little hobbits with tiny hands such as myself.
I love the phone. Like I really love it, but there's not enough different. They kinda said Bixby was gunna be on the S7 and S7 edge. If you want Dex, the new Superbook will do almost the same thing. The only upgrade worthy feature is the screen but that's not really enough right now. I'm gunna wait for the next Note or Pixel since they usually take more risk on the Note with experimental features.
Please clarify the questions to the DEX-docking station: -Can Dex replace Laptops, MacBook Air, Mini PC? -Can I connect the printer? -Can I connect a hard disk 3.5 mm or SSD drive? -Can I connect a webcam? -Can I connect usb-hub with several usb ports? -Can I connect wired speakers (via usb hub)? -Can I connect a keyboard (via usb hub)? -Can I connect a mouse (via usb hub)? -Can I make a Wi-Fi hot-point in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and spread the Internet through the LAN-cable which is in the DEX-docking station? - Does the docking station have a processor? -How to switch between the two languages (as in the Windows alt + shift) when working?
The way phones work. Skip a generation so S7 to S8 no. but S6 to S8 yes. Iphone 5 to iphones 7 etc. Since most contracts now are 2 years this works out really well. i Moved from a S6 to a iphones 7+ and i thought it was a stepback tbh. so i got rid of it and waiting for this years lines up of phones from Samsung and Apple
I have a sneaking suspicion that the battery life on the s8 will not be good. Comparing to the s7 which had a 5.1 inch QHD screen and sub par battery with 3000 mah. The base s8 will have a screen larger and brighter than even the s7 edge (5.8 inches) with the same 3000 mah.
Trainer Red I hate to say it but I agree. I have the Galaxy S6 edge, and going into purchasing this phone 2 years ago I was aware that it's battery life was weaker than the competition (Apple, LG, HTC etc.). Low and behold, 2 years later, the battery life is as weak as ever. I feel like, in their efforts to play it safe with the battery on the S8, they repeated their mistakes with the S6 in 2015. Only time will tell, but with a screen of that size and that caliber, things aren't looking too promising for the battery life.
I have the smaller black s8 and my roommate has the silver s7 Edge. She thinks my s8 is great, but doesn't see any reason to upgrade after one year. I upgraded from the iPhone 6 Plus, so it was a good amount of time for upgrading, and finally making that switch from being an iOS user since 2011.
Interesting comments about the battery life but smartphone reviews without real audio calls testing are totally incomplete. A phone is used for phone calls. Not just for selfies.
samsung needs to get their software uniformly done . i just got the gear s3 and i hate its using s voice instead of google now . my samsung phone is using google now. Imagine i get the s8. i would have s voice, bixby and google now . as much as i love samsung , but get your shit together, sammy.
Glad you did! I thought of the idea to include it, then it took me like 3 hours to figure out how to do it lol. It should be quicker now that I've learned how to do it, so I'd love to use it more.
Hello I have just moved from Galaxy S6 to S7. I love the new phone. However, there is one detail that totally ruins my user experience. The vibration. I find the vibration annoying to say the least. No matter what intensity I choose, the vibration is kind of resonating, it spreads unpleasantly throughout the phone. This concerns notifications, keybord haptic feedback, the navigation keys. It's not a matter of intensity or other settings. I feel it is basically hardware, the vibration rotor/engine works this way. It buzzes and resonates. I checked on my S6 and vibration is flawless, when I type there is a short, solid feedback, no buzzing. Same for notifications. I also checked this on S7 Edge and there is no such issue!
I love the S8 and I am gonna buy it. Battery life wont matter bcoz you can charge it quickly. The most important thing which many people failed to figure out 'why the S8 has 3000mAh battery?' is "10nm processor". It is the most efficient processor ever created which even Apple has failed to create one. Apple A11 processor will contain the 10nm processor on TSMC chip. "10nm" means 40% less power usage (according to my calculations as an engineer) than a "14nm" processor. This means that the battery life will remain exactly the same as that of S7 Edge. I get upto 4 to 5 hrs SOT on my S6 Edge having 2600mAh and it is decent. Moreover, SD 835 will provide the best performance in a phone. So more power + more performance. With "10nm" architecture, you can fit more transistors (as said by Samsung) to increase software and hardware flexibility. So battery life shouldn't be much of an issue.
I have the HTC MIGHT and been thinking about upgrading. I'm not a big fan of Samsung or Apple and HTC disappointed me this year. I think I'll wait and see how the Pixel 2 will look
I'm gonna wait to see what the galaxy S8 Note and BlackBerry KeyOne does. I have a galaxy S7 as my personal phone, and that's cool. I currently use a Note 5 for work (RIP Note 7, had to give it up). I know Bixby will eventually end up on my S7, so I'm in no rush to replace it. I don't really see using the S8 for work, I actually use the pen on my Note 5.
Hey Austin, what's your opinion on this? which would have better battery life? a brand new s7 edge with a fresh battery on Nougat or the s8 plus? i'm leaning more towards the s7 edge....
You have to charge the S7 Edge TWICE a day? What? I use mine very often, especially since I have to travel by drain about 4h each day. AND STILL my battery lasts 2 full days (with about 10-20% left).
I'll stick around with my Samsung s7 edge, until the new Samsung note 8 edge or whatever will be called arrives next year IMHO. Great review and love Samsung galaxy smartphones.
for someone with an s7, no need to upgrade..! Unless, they want that stellar design though super uncomfortable to use as per the people who have used it.
I've never had an issue with my S7E battery. Always get about 4hrs streaming RU-vid @ 1440p with max safe brightness. And all day if I just use it for messaging and calls.
thankfully I'm with T-Mobile so it will be easy to jump up. I'm going from S7 Edge to the regular S8. I'm happy with the phone size plus I'm too cheap to pay $130 upfront lol
The only reason to upgrade would be if u want the new generation design as when it comes to everything else not much changed. I might as well wait for the S9.
was thinking about the same, from S7e (7 month old) to S8 or S8+. for me, not enough specials on newer models, batteries smaller. No Snapdragon in my country - just the Exynox. and from 8890 to 8895 no big steps I think I'm skipping the "8" and changing first, when S9 or S9+ are released. since now I've always skipped the even mumbers, espected the S2.
Well I have the S7 edge too, and I'm going for the standard S8 because of the size... I can't even hold my S7 edge, imagine the S8+...! (small hands here). I'm also concerned about the battery life of the S8 versus the S7 edge, but I'm cool I guess if I have to charge it once per day, since they introduced a new battery tech for charge/discharge.
I have an iphone 6 plus and im leaning towards the s8 over the iphone 7. I use my phone for the apps and music. I just want a usb charger and a headphone jack. Is this a smart move? I have never owned a android before.
You should upgrade every 2 generations. If you have an S7, you should wait for S9. S7 is gonna get the next Android upgrade, Oreo, or what ever it's called. S6 went from Lolipop to Marshmallow and then to Nougat. S7 went from Marshmallow to Nougat and it will go to Oreo. Plus, the specs on S7 will still be great for atleast a year, maybe even 2 if you stretch it. It's not worth to pay up for S8.
I have the s6 edge plus I've had it just over 2 years so I am upgrading now to the s8+ as I think coming from the s6 and missing the s7 It should be worth the upgrade I Hope and also the s6 edge plus battery after 2 years has diminished a fair bit
Maybe I am gonna stick with my S7 edge untill S9 cuz I dont see Big improvements except Bixeby and front facing camera.....Here is why: 1)The speed is 10% faster only and the RAM is the same.....2)Fingerprinter sensor is in BADASS position which you could accidently press the camera lens instead of Fingerprint reader .......3)The main camera is 12MP and they ADMIT ITS THE SAME SENSOR FROM THE LAST YEAR>>>>>>>>>4)What about the Iris scanner and facial recognition
the new galaxy has such a beautiful design. some companies just can't learn or are sleeping under the rock, they are not listening to consumers and they wonder why their business is spiraling down. one example is sony they have a good spec phone in a shell and design that is more than few years old with giant chins and bezels. its sad for apple that as soon as Steve jobs was gone their innovation just froze. and now they have to play catch up to copy samsung design. design and ergonomic is as important as the internal specs, because I personally don't want to hold a phone with huge bezels uncomfortably while i know they could fit a larger screen in more comfortable ergonomic design. although I think samsung could do better as well, for example the sensor placement even though i'd use iris scanner, and i don't like square camera on the back also it should have a bigger battery, you can't beat the beautiful front glass and screen though
I'm going to upgrade to the S8 from the S7 only because the S7 is not originally what I wanted I had the Note 7 and had to return my Note 7 and ended up having to get an S7 because that was the only thing available at the store I went to, go to the SATs it looks similar to the Note 7
I had a note 7 they forced me into the s 7 edge I don't like but they said if I stay with samsung they would give note 7 customers a great deal if they don't I will be moving to another brand I had to turn 3 note 7 in and wow I loved it what do you think they will do for there note 7 customers?
