I gave my S3 to my son that has autism since they are doing distance learning for now and he's lovin' it. My hubby just got me the s6 yesterday and I'm loving it as well. I know the s7 is coming out at the end of the year, but I found out that it will be 11 inches or more in size. That's kinda too big for me to haul around with. I'm happy with this s6😊
Thanks for actually making a video like this, it puts the tab s3 in a better light for me. Personally I'm more interested in the tab s4 primarily for (finally) the 16:9 aspect ratio we've been waiting years for and now it's finally up to 1440p.
Hello very nice review, you discussed the best points about the S3 compared to the S4. I'm an artist and I also bought the S3, it arrived just yesterday! I spent the day installing apps and configuring it for maximum stamina, that is, removing all notifications, syncing etc and battery life is pretty good!, and if you select the option to auto turn off wifi when sleeping the battery discharged 0% during the whole night, this is great so we can keep the tablet on all the time for quick art sessions! I also wanted the S4 to be a worth upgrade, I was waiting for a year for it to appear, and I would have gladly paid the price because I know I would have make good use of it for creativity work, there are no other pens like the spens for drawing, I have yet to test the Apple Pencil but I think in the end I would stick to the thinner pen tip and I use the side button for color picking quite a lot too. The main reason I did not pick the S4 is the aspect ratio; after having used a Windows tablet with pen with 16:9 aspect ratio for years and having tried friend's ipad, I had to conclude that the 4:3 ratio is the best for tablets this size. Anything larger than 13 and a widescreen ratio is good, but for medium sized ones, the 4:3 feels more comfortable to hold both in vertical or in landscape and the working image can "breath" more, otherwise feels too cramped; when I leave the tablet stationary attached to a keyboard as you do all of this doesn't matter of course, horizontal is better. It's a pity because I like all the other improvements the S4 has brought: better battery life, better resolutions and I don't mind the removal of the home button because the bezels are kept in a good proportion now.
I also just made the choice of the tab S3 over the tab S4. Naturally price was the first consideration. Also, one of the only things that appealed to me about the tap S4 was Dex, but I have that on my Note 9, so I really don't need it on my tablet. Playing with both at Best Buy I felt the longer 4 would be unwieldy to hold. By the way, I find the speakers on the Tab S3 amazing.
The S3 is a good device but mine had problems after a year of use. Its now worthless (completely bricked which many others are having the same problem). Also the battery life was very disappointing.
Watching this on a tab s4. The speakers are amazing. Loving the widescreen format for watching my movie collection. The tab s3 didnt appeal to me at all for my needs. The larger battery and Samsung dex mode does come in handy. A bit pricey but i know i would enjoy it more than the s3
I would also add that my tab s4 has been giving me between 9-11 hours of screen on time. Only the original Tab A 9.7 ever got me as much, and even more than that.
@@dustytin i haven't used office, only email and web browsing in dex which works great. Having a task bar at the bottom just like windows makes switching between apps so comfortable. You really need a keyboard and mouse though to get the most out of it
@@dustytin I have had my S4 for a few months and it works great with Office applications. I use OneNote, Word and Excel primarily. I also use Google Docs, Sheets and Slides regularly. All work well. The Dex mode does allow for me to be more productive than I was on my iPad Pro 9.7. I love being able to open multiple documents in resizable windows like I do on my PC. The Tab S4 is my mobile office and had reduced my need to take a PC with me as I travel around my area during the day.
Hi. Thanks for the review. I find the speakers on the s3 phenomenal. My device sounds great. I do a lot of artwork. I've been using Autodesk Sketchbook pro for years. The free version on the tab s3 is so irritating as I can't find a way to turn off the cursor? I did manage to upload my pro version but now I can't turn on palm rejection. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks. Appreciate your experienced opinion and comparison, I've had S3 since last year, and apart from the sound quality (no match for my iPad Pro-for watching streaming Vids mostly). I use and prefer the S3 every day often. Have considered the $4 ;) but no rush @ this time to purchase. Cheers
@@Broxine that's probably the point. If Tab S4 has a copper plate behind the glass, it could be beneficial. The glass is an insulated material than keeps the heat only in the copper. The copper and glass combo keeps the tab from thermal throttling while the back is not getting too hot.
Ross Ro'meave if that would be the case then the heat is trapped inside. The copper doesnt help then, because it cant transport the heat to the outside. The coppers function is a good transporter of heat ä
As you may have already found out also the tab s3 doesn't support palm rejection so in all fairness I truly feel like that makes up for the lack there of a finger print sensor.
@@janebruner8881 for me, the one and only thing about the Tab S3 I don't like is, when watching movies, it doesn't fit the screen. You have to decide if 650 is worth the few features you get with the Tab S4. For me, I couldn't justify the extra 250 for those features.
@@pointlesschannel1679 I love the tablet with one exception, watching movies doesn't fill the full screen. RU-vid fills most of the screen, but using apps like Vudu or Movies Anywhere the black bars are huge. Speed of the tablet, battery, screen and the pen are wonderful. If you don't plan on using this to watch movies, it is totally worth the money. The only reason I would buy the Tab S4 is to watch movies because of the screen. Other than that, Tab S3 is still a great tablet.
Big mistake. Read my comment above. The S3 has serious issues that will rear its ugly head in a year or so. Also the battery life is very disappointing for such an expensive device.
Just got this for $400 on Amazon on sale for Black Friday, the only ones I see on Ebay for under that price are preowned so I am not sure how you got it 2 months ago for $350 new? Anyway, I was considering the S4 but it just didn't seem to be that much better for me to spend over $300 more. I was able to also get the keyboard cover for my S3 and still spend much less than it would have been for just the S4 without the keyboard cover. The Dex desktop feature combined with the ability to use a bluetooth mouse seemed cool I guess, but the fact the hardware is barely better than an S3 was a bit sad. It has the same 4GB of RAM the S3 has, and the CPU/GPU are tiny upgrades. I feel like the biggest upgrade the S4 has besides the Dex feature is that the screen is bigger from the S3.
Sir, I would like to ask your opinion who is experienced in terms of gadgets, in your opinion, between s3 tab and s4 tab which should I buy if I will use the tablet to just watch movies and play games like PUBG and Fortnite, can you give advice , thank you Mr
Also read that the tab s3 comes with microsoft office for free installed on it vs the s4 that doesnt. I have the s3 now and i got it on ebay with the finite keyboard for 300. One thing to keep in mind while note taking and you if have a magnetic sealing case with keyboard remember that case cover being a magnet will affect your note taking if you have it folded up. You will need to have it unfolded to use it properly. It happened to me and i couldnt figure out why my s pen was acting up.
Hi, I got my new S3 Tab in 2021. I am a hardcore fan of stylus devices, especially the older ones. I still own a galaxy Note and Note 4. Not a fan of the glass construction. But S3 is a great tab for reading. The bezels help in holding it without hindering the view. I simply could not like S4 and still overpriced accessories. Love your review. Love from India Jiten
Conciously bought S3 recently, 4:3 ratio is a must for me - in laptop mode any tablet with 16:10 ratio, ike S4, has ridicouously short vertical sreen's height
Okay but what about a 2019 user that actually can reach it for 475€ (with s pen included), I need it mostly for university notes and I would use it as a second pc to go around with
@@TechSummitTV First of all thanks you so much for have been answered to me that fast wow So your suggestion to buy the S3 for a long term usage even if the difference between the two is like 100+ € ?
@@t.rick1080 Of course! And I probably wouldn't do it today as a long term solution. Because I already own this tablet, I'll likely keep it until it stops receiving updates. This tablet has been out for a while, so it will stop receiving updates eventually which is when it'll basically be absolete. If you need something that will last you as a long-term solution, I would look into the S4 and up. I hear that the Tab S6 is pretty good too.
The tab s3 has the a great ratio for Productivity and spen use but not the greatest on media consumption. I do like the ratio of the S4 but it's still unappealing to me has a pen user.
Have the S3 for over a year. Loved it ... until it bricked last week. And of course its out of warranty. Won't take a charge at all. I'm really pissed about it because many others are having the same problem (just google "Samsung S3 tablet no longer charging). Apparently the internal cable that connects to the battery needs to be unplugged for 10 seconds and then plugged back in. Except that you can't get to it. There is no way of safely removing the back cover (I tried and cracked the screen). Soooooooooooo do I get the S4 or move on to an iPad (Ugggggg!!)? The fact that so many others are having the same issue I have with the S3 makes me want to strangle Samsung and I take pause in buying another one. Also I have to say the battery life on the S3 was frustratingly weak and charging time was much longer than expected considering it uses a USB-C connector. The S4 battery appears to be a solid upgrade. Not sure what I will do but I just can't see myself buying an Apple device because of its proprietary all-Apple ecosystem but Samsung really screwed me with the S3. Decisions decisions....
How can a Samsung tablet be that bad!? I have the Samsung Tab A 7.0 (2016) and still works fine almost 4 years later and with only 8GB, but a lil slow bc I'm always without storage (usually 0-300 MB), still not that slow. How can the maximum best Samsung tablet brick in 1 to 3 years?!?! I thought a tablet that expensive would have lasted a good 4-5 years at the very least. Imo Samsung tablets got great at S4 & especially at S6. I'm buying the Tab S7 in a few weeks, so excited! Hope it lasts a great 4-6 years. Hate when cheap brands and devices get slow after 1-2 years with newer software updates... And then you have to buy a new tablet every 2-3 years. If I pay $650, that better last 5 years minimum.
ADONAI ECHAD Samsung Tabs are the best! Don't judge it by the Tab S3. I do love iPads too. I would never buy anything that isn't Apple or Samsung. I love the iPad Minis :)
What's the difference between the model numbers with letter at the end? Example t825c vs t825y etc (I know the t825 is for sim while the t820 is just WiFi)
I'm thinking of doing this right now, but I might just hold off until the tab s5 comes out. I'm intrigued by the larger battery, Dolby surround sound and larger internal memory because I know that's what the tab s3 is lacking, more so the internal memory than the other 2. I do not like though that your forced to go on a subscription to use the Microsoft Office apps for the s4 because of the screen size. Its utterly ridiculous, but then again so is any subscription to use an app. It's not much of an upgrade if you got the tab s3 unfortunately like I do. Shoot I've seen an ad for a used tab s3 over in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on the facebook markwtplace for $300 so your much better off if you grab yourself the tab s3 for now and wait for the tab s4 to go down in price.
I'm I the market for a new phone and a tablet. I like small phones since I'm a knee hand user person y I'm 6,1 with average hand size for my size so I can hold big phones, but I like compact phones on my pocket. Also i want the tablet for home use only to watch RU-vid, Netflix and such on a big screen. I thought of the note 9 but 1k is too much phone a fragile glass phone that I could drop and it will be like shattering $1k bucks.
I will not get the S4 because of the missing headphone jack and the missing fingerprint reader, so I’m sticking with the Tab S3 I got for less than $300. I do like the new tab S5e but there is no S Pen, and when it does come out, it will definitely be over $500, which is too much for me.
Why would you buy this. As it's based on android, apps are not built for tabs. You can't be productive with this. Not an apple fanboy, but buy the ipad 2018 with the apple pencil or logitech crayon (costs around 350-400 euros)
Nonsense! Where did you get the idea that Android apps don't look any good on tablets? I have a Galaxy Tab S4 and about a dozen other Samsung tablets and I own an iPad Pro 12.9. The app icons look as good on the S4 as they do on the iPad. The open apps themselves also look as good. You are making comments based on gossip from so called expert youtubers. Study the facts before making out and out irresponsible judgements about which tablet is better than the other.
@@lauriealach1072 In my personal experience, after owning both a tab s3 and currently an ipad 2018, I can tell you that ios has a much more fluid experience, and the user experience itself makes it feel as though the operating system on the ipad was built for tablets. On the tab s3 however, there aren't anywhere near as useful features, and most apps don't scale to the tablet size. In other words, ios apps are made for the ipad, whereas android apps are made for phones which are run on tablets. I'm also an android/ios app developer so I know this as well
@ÉXØ GΔΜIŇG Ok that's a valid point, but the thing about iPads is you get incredible software support. A 5 year old iPad probably still get the latest iOS update, provided that it has a 64 bit processor. This means that it could get mouse support in the future. If you buy something like a tab s3 or most android devices, the support lasts maybe 1 year, at most 2 years.
@@anirudhhramesh4900 The Galaxy tablets support mouse NOW and have done so for years. IPads may even support hard drives in the future, or even extended secondary displays. They might even devise a proper file structure some time in the future. The claims get more and more ridiculous. Live in hope.
@@anirudhhramesh4900 You keep repeating the same old assertions you made in your original post. You use the terms like "more fluid experience" and "anywhere near as useful features" as if you knew what you are talking about. These are expressions that youtubers, quite often unqualified and ignorant, use in their videos and which viewers latch on to and use with gay abandon. Also, "most apps don't scale" is utter bullshit. You use the fact that you own a Tab s3 as a good starting point to compare a largely outdated Android tablet to the latest iPad Pro. The Galaxy Tab S4 is a far superior tablet to the Tab S3, and is the only Galaxy tablet which can be used in such a comparison. Why don't you learn more about the Tab S4 before making ridiculous claims. If you think icons or interface on these premium Galaxy tablets are inferior to the iPad Pro, then you need to get your eyes checked. I hate the term "isheep" - I would prefer in your case to use a term like Apple Snob. I think the iPad Pro is fantastic, and the 2018 models look sleek and extremely capable (though out of this world price-wise). But I feel the problem is not in the iPad, but the people who worship the device, despite its obvious limitations as a productive tool. Try connecting your USB-type C charging port to an external monitor and do anything other than mirror your iPad screen. I am also dubious about your claim of being an app developer. Anyone can claim to be all sorts of things on RU-vid, as the ability to fact check is not really a strength of the internet. List the apps you have developed for Android (or even iOS for that matter) so we can rest assured that you know your stuff about Galaxy tablets. Please don't insult our intelligence by making banal statements showing preference of one device over another, until you have done the appropriate research, and approach a discussion with an open mind.
