It's important to note that the cover shown in this review is *not* the one included in the pre-order promotion. The pre-order cover does not have a trackpad, is not detachable from the back cover, does not fully enclose the S-Pen (although there is a bay on the inside of the spine) and rather than offering a kickstand with a very nice degree of adjustability, limits the viewing angle to one position.

When reviewing Tablets , I think that a few use cases should always be covered like: 1.- Note taking 2.- Drawing 3.- Book Reading 4.- Video Viewing and video streaming to TVs 5).- Audio listening quality 6).- Productivity Apps: spread sheets, document creation, presentation tools 7).- Video Conferencing 8).- Photography and image editing 9).- Video Editing 10).- Programming - Software Development: IDE + Programming Languages 11).- Connectivity with screen displays and other accessories. The above list will help to convince many end users to switch to Tablets ecosystem

Idk why every reviewer who mentions PWM dimming solely as a negative factor completely glosses over the fact that Samsung did this in reaction to everyone complaining to them about the green tint at low brightness levels due to DC dimming in the Tab S7/S7+ models. I for one (granted I'm not affected by PWM dimming) see this as a great change.
I had a MS Surface. Expensive but it's a PC that can sotra be a tablet, the Samsung is a tablet 1st that can sorta be a PC. Both are great, depends on what your needs are.
I can't convert or use tablet S8+ as a PC/window. You can try it.. it doesn't have that option. Tablet S8+ function is like Galaxy Note S22 (as a phone). I can't download my work files, create more folders, or use it like I use my desktop or Window Surface pro

I'm planning on using it for media consumption (I know it's great for that), but also to take notes during lessons and for writing the occasional university assignment in Microsoft word. From your experience, would this tablet suffice? I'd really appreciate a reply :)
@@sverre07036sv sometimes things can require an extra step when using applications non-native to Android, but I've been very happy with it so far. Note taking takes some getting used to, but the AI learns your handwriting fairly well. I do find it sometimes faster the type things out, but the note taking capabilities is impressive. I would almost suggest, if not docking this with a bigger monitor when typing large assignments, to go for the ultra. The bigger screen will be a benefit when working on papers. However, you can save a bundle by getting a portable monitor for around 200-300usd. Lmk if you have any more questions. As an aside, for my work computer (as in provided by my employer, not my side business) I suggest the surface. For my personal use I prefer my android, for strictly business use I think the surface is better, as most business related applications are native to MS and thus requires fewer workarounds. It's all a matter of preference. Also, you can always pay for access to a virtual MS machine. Some for as low as 15/year usd. I'm about to do that for some virtual table top software that only works on MS.
Current Tab S7 owner (128GB/WiFi) if I was upgrading I would pick the S8+ model with 256GB/WiFi. Reason for that is I noticed most of my usage is media consumption and using PS5 remote play. I also use the tablet a lot at home and even when I'm at a coffee shop it's usually in a sleeve or backpack anyway so extra weight is not an issue. I love the Tab S7 as it feels like using a tablet/laptop hybrid especially with DeX and a Bluetooth mouse. The new Ultra model is way too big.
I also have an S7 and I find myself barely using my laptop anymore. Only reason I still carry both is for work; I'm a teacher and the Windows experience is much more robust for my needs in the classroom. Most other times, the tablet is much more convenient. I'll keep it in tablet mode for general media consumption or light work, and Dex mode if I'm in work mode and doing heavy multitasking and keyboard typing. Dex has come a long way from its beginnings.

Purchasing this with the keyboard one can purchase a good laptop that can do just about anything this can do. All the laptops I has seen come with the power adapter and more ports for greater flexability. The camera on this is quite good. Still an excellent "First Looks" review. For those people who prefer a tablet and don't mind the cost then this is an excellent choice.
I think the big thing this has over most laptops is screen quality. No laptop in this price range will have a screen anywhere as good. If a main goal were something to watch video on, choosing this over a laptop might make sense. Plus that front cam blows away any laptop cam I've seen. It isn't even close.

@@andyH_England They offered the keyboard cover for free if you pre ordered before the 25 of February, if you ordered after 25 you ll get galaxy buds Pro. I m in the uk and i ordered on the 24 with one h left to go of the pre order and i ll get the free cover. After the 25,instead the cover they changed and they are giving the buds Pro. They took away the buds Pro from s22 ultra and added for the tabs8 ultra instead.
@@andyH_England well in my opinion 999 for a flagship tablet and as well the ultra version plus a free keyboard and s pen is a very good price. I bought the 256 gb version and that one was more with 100 pounds I think and I ordered through Samsung a charger as well so I end up paying more but is worth it. I just treat myself because I ve got a totally new hp envy x360 ryzen 7 which I bought it last year, I bearly used it because is just getting too hot only with just normal use, just browsing on chrome is getting too much hot and very noisi. That s why i didn t even use it stayed on my desktop since I bought it 1 Yr ago
Andrew, as always a great overview and your pros/cons are accurate. I upgraded my wife to the Tab S8+ from the Tab S4 and she LOVES it. I went for the Ultra. Agree about the charger, Nickel and dime BS. but luckily I have a 45Watt from my Note10+ and it is getting a workout with the S22 ultra and the Tab S8+.
@@JoeGillian0 forgot to mention though that I had to buy that 45W charger as the Note 10+ only came with the 25W but yeah, you're right, plenty of old chargers in the desk drawer...

great review buddy 👍I'm waiting very patiently for my tab S8+ it gets shipped early next month. this year I'm getting a tablet instead of a new phone. I'm not the biggest fan of the phone lineup this year. so I went with a new tablet. I'll keep my note 20 ultra. I would have gotten the tab S8 Ultra but at&t and as far as I know know, no other cellular services are offering the S8 ultra. not exactly sure but I think the Ultra is wifi only right now. so I went with the S8+
The Tab S8 Ultra was my dream device 2 years ago. Android really needs a full desktop browser and a few more professional apps, Luma Fusion will help, but it is just a start. Whsat I would really love to see is an S8 with an AMOLED screen.
Tab s8 ultra is a beast, i hold it in my hands for few hours and I played with it, it s phenomenal, despite its size is very portable and light weight. No one can complain about the size coz they release 3 sizes for all the needs. The ones who ll buy this ultra size they know what they re buying for, content creators, streaming, multitasking and especially multimedia netflix etc
@@msp5138 Please calm down, lol. I'm not an Apple fanboy, I literally traded in my M1 12.9 iPad Pro to go back to a Tab from Samsung. Full desktop browser means a browser that can do everything full browsers can do, use extensions, not preset to mobile sites when you create a new tab, etc. Kiwi Browser is the closest I have found to a full browser, but it has many glitchy little defects which make it slightly irritating to use. Tprofessionals When I say, "professional apps", I mean not only the type of apps, but the quality. The support that comes from an Appstore that is primarily paid, not free, is preferable. There are a lot of things I don't like about Apple, iPad OS, and the App Store, but the quality of their apps does tend to be better. Also, if you could not be a total a**hole and freak out on people for no reason, that would be cool. You call me a fanboy, but there is only one person getting all hot and bothered over constructive criticism. I hope you have a good day and display conduct more fitting of an adult in the future.
Get over the power adapter. This Tab can be charged with the regular Samsung 25W charger or 45 W charger, which I have a ton of it (even I didn't upgrade my devices yearly). If including a power adapter will increase the overall price, I would rather go without it. For Tab S7FE, it comes with a 15W charger, which is quite useless (again, tons of it) and I wouldn't want it, prefer Samsung for not increasing the price because of the charger. The battery life of a Tab is lasting a day long. So I would just plug it in when I sleep at night and charge it with the lowest power the whole night. I think super fast charging is a must for smartphone but not really matter for a tablet.
I really, really tried to use my tab S7 plus as a laptop replacement with Dex. It's still incredibly limited and an overall awkward experience in my opinion. There's limited functionality with browsers and, since I'm in education, using Zoom on this thing is beyond frustrating. Heck, you can get more functionality with a Chromebook, since Chrome on a CB is a desktop browser with extensions. I love the tablet for media consumption, but for serious work, it's a non-starter for my needs.
What nobody is mentioning? That with the S8plus a longer USB is included instead of the small one included with the phones. Just a small plus. It's true that a majority have extra Wall chargers from previous phones and such. It helps on cost and in the long run allows them to continue to work on bettering the technology. Think positive folks! LOL I have dozens of Wall Chargers and USB's from previous phones and Tablets. I truly don't need another! Except for the Super Chargers. Those i've recently purchased. But now i own 3! I'm sure they will last until i upgrade my tablet/phone again. Hence the it's best they don't include MORE. 🤷
It is not a bad tablet as Samsung makes beautiful tablets, however, I’m more of an Apple tablet fan than Samsung. I thought the 1080p camera’s quality is great, internal mic is passible. Unfortunately for a tablet as expensive as this one, it is a crime that they don’t include a case and power adapter! We can all thank Apple for that as they’re the ones who started that trend! Yes no adapater but you get the pen straight out the box unlike the Apple tablets. I would much prefer them removing the adapter that you are likely to have hanging around than having to pay for a separate Pen to use with all the tech that comes with it.

I've only had my gts8plus for about 3days now. I must say I'm blown away. The video quality is absolutely amazing. I mainly got it so I could stream my favorite shows.
Great video I got the base model great screen and speakers,and the 11 inch screen suits me just fine for watching RU-vid and surfing the Web,it also feels super premium,with armor aluminium And gorilla glass 5 protection,I dig it.
I'm sort of confused, it says that the 256gb version comes with an 8gb RAM option and a 12gb RAM version but I cannot find the option for the 12gb RAM anywhere. Am I just confused about something? Thanks.
Using it a a second mobile screen for your windows laptop with the "superdisplay" app the bigger the better. Some people they buy the 11" 5G versions to use it as a gigantic phone and as an external screen too. I agree that the accessories are overpriced and the tablets are overpriced too.
One thing i would like to know is about the second screen. I mean trought cable instead of wi-fi. Can we use the galaxy tab as a second screen trough cable with 120 hz in full resolution?. I think that a very good question (Srry for my english :v )
I always found Samsung tablets though not as powerful as iPads more Pc like capable as they not locked into their ecosystem like iPads. Ive always been able to do more in this regard with my Samsungs

Finally someone who does their job in reviewing tech correctly instead of being a fanboy; all he flaws from price to lack of the fast charge adapter, to floppy keyboard are dead on. I add to this that I had to switch from 3 button navigation to gestures because the 3 button navigation is terrible!!! It stutters or just doesn't respond. I bought this thing 3 days ago and though I like it, those shortcomings infuriate me. I paid close to 1,300 for the 8+ and the keyboard cover, and I don't feel I really got my money's worth... Thinking of paying BesBuy a return visit...
Did you end up returning the Tab S8+? I watched a video that said S7+ was good enough for most users if the discount was good. He claimed to have found some in Best Buy for $350.
I can't see any reasonable real world usage case for upgrading from a S7+ to the S8+. I'll be waiting until the next iteration or even perhaps the one beyond that i.e. the S10+.
I'm going back and forth about getting either another laptop or a tablet like this. My concern: I work a bit far from home (45 minutes travel time) but I still commute daily and I wanted a tab because it's lighter and I don't have to worry about it's hinges giving up on me. My current laptop is much lighter than my previous but it's still weighty compared to a tab and I really want my next purchase to be lighter because I carry so much stuff to/from work. I mostly deal with Word, Excel but I create a lot of PowerPoint (I insert a lot of gifs, videos, and a lot of those fancy aesthetic stylings lol yeah, it consumes a bit of space 😅😅), and download plenty of videos/audio. I don't know if the s8+ can handle that. Any advice for me? Also: One more reason I wanted to own a tab is to start digital painting. But I can postpone starting because drawing/painting is only a hobby of mine (but might turn into a side businesses??🤷🏻♀️🤞) and I'm more ok with my traditional set up for now.
Reading legal docs it sucks would love to see a 24 inch foldable like the duel where you could have two tablets But that’s years away . 14 ultra would be nice if it folded . Dependable is the real story not outdated by the following year .
Hello! Can you please test if, in landscape, you notice any horizontal effects in the image quality when you tilt the tablet back and forward? On my S8+ I notice a screen "wave" effect. Is this common in AMOLED displays? Can it be a defect in the glass of my screen? I notice it more in still image situations like in Chrome and on the "desktop" page of the table. Thanks.
Why your price points on all 3 devices are cheaper than in UK? For example the ultra in uk starts at 999 not at 899,all ur prices are better than in UK. Nice to see you making a review of a tablet. That OLED doesn't look good at all, contrast looks visibly bad and colour washed out in this video. If I have to guess, they probably didn't have polarised coating, which will give OLED a terrible IPS contrast in anything but a completedly dark condition (which maybe fine for a TV that's not ok for tablet)
I honestly don't know what is the purpose of a tablet? I have never own one and 100% positive I will never. I have a laptop and a desktop and it's all i ever use/need. If I need portability I use my 2021 HP Spectre 2 in 1 convertible laptop(which i absolutely love to death, it is the most beautiful laptop i have ever seen with the gem cut design and copper accents)which can do much more than what any tablet can do.
The size of the S8 Ultra is not the problem for me, as I use an iPad 12.9 and use a Z Fold 3 phone. It’s the skewered landscape aspect ratio which makes portrait pretty much cumbersome or unusable. It’s always been like that with Android/Galaxy tabs. IF Samsung went with a 3:2 or 4:3 ratio, I could finally get off iPad/iOS wall gardened/One app digital prison. So I will have to wait for Microsoft’s SQ3 Surface Pro X to be my daily tablet driver.
Microsoft's SQ3 Surface Pro X is going to be outstanding. Geekbench 5.4 single-core (900-1100) and multi-core (4600-5600) will be major upgrades. (Unfortunately) I snagged the SQ2 SPX (16 ram, 512ssd) for only $579US, so far too cheap to do an upgrade...
Sorry but is there any point in showing us the quality of the camera or speakers, they are only as good as the item we are currently watching the video on. In my case a very old, dying iPad, hence why I am watching the video in the first place 🤣
the keyboard cover is very expensive, especially, it is not supported the Khmer Unicode keyboard. To me, it cannot substitute the laptop 💻 There is no power adapter, the user pay more extra charge for it 😂
Really paying that much money and give you a cheap cord and no charger. lol That tablet is probably cost around 300 dollars. Samsung thinks there giving you something.
i just ordered one. i have pretty much sworn by galaxy tabs for the past 10 years, and i know i wont need any other kind of computer once i get this. also the cameras look really decent.
