I got this last month after using ipad for years, and I'm loving it so far; I don't see myself swapping back to apple any time soon. Currently waiting for the keyboard to get delivered so will reserve judgement on that part

First let me say: Great review. I switched from a Tab S7+ to this one, and was it worth it? For me being a tech geek, H3LL YEAH!! For the average user, I'd say just keep the 7+. I just love it's built quality, all of it's functions, the screen and the size! I do use the same case as you, and as I did with the 7+ version of it, I do like it a lot. Is it worth 350usd ( 380++ here in Norway!)? No it's not! However, I got one fooo free when I bought the tab, aaand two months later I got asked by Samsung Norway if I needed one more🤗. Why? I have no idea..
I think you are dead on! The only downside to really keeping that Tab S7+ is the software updates. I'm pretty sure Android 13 will be the last Android version it will get, the Tab S8 Ultra will get 4 software updates, and since it released with Android 12, that means getting Android 16! And at launch they were offering crazy trade in deals in the US at least for the S7+ anyway. A lot of those people might just want to get the S8+ instead of the Ultra, but the Ultra is great for those who love a larger screen
Awesome video I went with the Duet 5 13.3 inch. Having a larger tablet serves so many needs, it's not for everyone but there is a market for larger displays.
Yeah 13.3 inches is really big for a tablet, but it's REALLY nice! I saw they just dropped the price down to $350 at Best Buy. BTW if you bought from them and you are still within your return period, you can request a price match through the chat or by calling in, and they will give you the price difference. Just a heads up. I couldn't remember when you bought yours, but if it's within 14 days you may be in luck
I saw the hyped reviews, and when I used it was somewhat disappointing. I watch primarily 1080p video (sports), and on this pentile display, it looks very pixelated and less sharp than my iPad Pro. Also, in sunlight, the blacks take a grey hue, whereas the miniLED remains black as night. The size is also too big in retrospect, making it a bit too much for portability. This is more of a home device. As the size is its only USP over the Tab S8+, I would say save some money and buy the Plus.
We can definitely disagree about the quality of the display. I will say when you're watching 1080p content and when you're watching it on a 14.6 in screen you are definitely stretching out the content on a larger display, and that can make things look a little less sharp. That could also be part of the reason why your iPad display it looks a little nicer to you. OLED typically has better colors than mini led, and mini led displays, even on iPad Pros can have that "blooming" effect. But the mini led screen is a lot brighter. And I understand which screen and what colors you prefer will always be a preference. So I can completely get why you would prefer an iPad screen. iPads are great so no complaining here. Also, you are dead on about the S8 Plus. in my original review of the S8 Ultra I actually steered most people away from it and steered them towards the S8 Plus. And even today I would still say it's probably the better device for most people. 14.6" is still a little too big for some people. In this specific video though I wanted to share how the larger screen has really grown on me and I've been seeing more and more the benefits of the S8 Ultra to a specific audience. When the S8 Ultra was released earlier this year, I was in two minds because of its price but eventually decided to go for it. My intended use for this table was primarily as a PDF reader for tonnes of research papers and books and till now it has been excellent at that - I can read off this device for hours without any eye fatigue and without needing to zoom in/out and pan every so often. The savings in terms of not having to print the papers or purchase hardcopy texts (I can get PDF versions via institutional login) itself has almost covered the price of the tablet. Everything else is a bonus. The only cons I can think of is the weight (I can't hold it in my hand for long periods to read) and the battery power (not bad, but could have been better). The keyboard is not as good as the earlier Samsung Windows tablets (Samsung book) and the keys have a very short travel. I would not have missed much if I had got the book cover instead, but then the keyboard cover was for free! Overall, a great tablet and I only hope that it gets better with the newer Android 13 release, which hopefully is geared towards bigger screen devices.

@@mgremont I got mine, as for me, ~2 months ago now (actually for a gift, for someone needing something very simple to use - including for those kind of reading usages)). I was very pleasantly surprised; yes, it's 'big' but everything is relative; like a big A4 sheet, I would say. I did not have the keyboard for free, but I preferred to offer the 'book cover' Instead, anyways; the keyboard is apparently very effective when put on a table, but on knees or something like that, not so stable (for an old person that is, here.. and on a table, can always connect a fixed if-red or bt keyboard too+mouse): so I got the book cover; ultra thin, minimal protection on the sides (magnetically attached), but it makes the whole thing really look like a big light book; not too heavy too like that (that cover is so thin, it must not add a lot of weight): it can be handled like a big magazine then. The good thing with that book cover is it can be set on stable positions even on knees; the pen is magnetically attached/parked inside, the effect is nice; I did not try a lot of pdf, but everytime I had some to verify (documentations, mail attached etc), I used naturally the vertical position (A4 effect). I can't say much more for long, lots of pages pdf etc., but the whole feeling was really good (especially with that book cover at least - not the greatest protection though, but very nice to handle with it - must be careful with the magnetic attachement too, when using the 'foot' position, can relatively easily 'unscratch' during the movement ; must be a little careful then. but for normal use, np). Hope you enjoy it! It's a great tablet, I'm using it right now in DeX sort of as a laptop to do work I need to do, it's great for productivity and great to get a lot of work done. The keyboard cover is great, especially if it was included, but if you ever want an alternative or if you decide you don't like it, you can always sell it for around $200 on eBay and buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I am currently using the Samsung Book Cover (around $70 on eBay) and the MX Keys Mini bluetooth keyboard (around $70 on ebay) and it's a nice combo. Not half as portable as the book cover keyboard, and harder to get it set up to work, but it has a little more travel on the keys. My point is that it's a great tablet and even if you don't like certain aspects you can always change some of those things. Let me know if you have any questions about the tablet or the keyboard cover I did a 6 month review of that recently too. Happy to answer any questions

I have my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra but there is an issue after updating one UI 4.1.1 software update after updating the software I am not not able to use the air command in power saving mode but previously I was able to use air command in power saving mode when I disable the power saving mode in this new update then air command is working but after activating it the air command is not working now I think there is a issue with software update kindly resolve this issue as soon as possible because this function was so much useful I have also use the safe boot mode for troubleshoot and I am also factory reset the device ,and samsung care software again update too, some friends of mine also facing the same issue,but nothing happened ????
Bro I just bought this! first I bought the S8, then cancelled it cuz I was wanting the plus, then in the end I just hit the buy button on the S8 ultra! I don't know but I think it just went on sale? with a trade in, of any tablet .. IT HINK it gives $500 credit? I don't know but I immediately jumped on it, cuz it was cheaper than the plus? anyways cool video man, can't wait to pick it up
Assuming everyone to be an average user? LOL. Maybe you are the only average user in the room who can't comprehend performance drops. If theres throttling everyone's gonna feel a part of it coz the whole point of having tabs is to do multi tasking!
I've been using this tablet daily over the past few weeks and I've had no performance drops at all. Of course I don't assume everyone is your average user, but even when this tablet is pushed to the limit it still gets better benchmarks than almost all Android tablets out there anyway. And even with only 8 GB of RAM I haven't had many slowdowns or hiccups at all. Of course if you are playing the most extreme games that's a different story, but even when doing heavy multitasking on dex or having several apps open I'm not having any issues, outside of an occasional app having to reload but that's just because of me only having 8 gigabytes of RAM, since I have the base model

I've been saying this in a lot of my videos that I've been doing on the Galaxy tablets, so if you watch around you may catch this theme, but I think the biggest thing to decide is what type of size you really are looking for. Some people buy the tab S8 Ultra and it's just too darn big. The keyboard cover does not work well on your lap at all, you can feel pretty heavy if you're trying to lug it around depending on what case you have on it, and 14 in can be a little bit Overkill for some people. I've learned to appreciate all three tablets. But it really depends on what you're looking for and if you want a keyboard case. The keyboard case on the tab S8 is going to be a little bit crammed. The keyboard case on the S8 plus and the S8 Ultra are both more than big enough. The s8 is obviously the lightest and most portable, and it's the cheapest, but the s8 plus and s8 ultra both have oled, so the screens look slightly better. So there are pros and cons to all three tablets. The S8 plus is definitely the safer bet because it will still give you a nice large screen size but it shouldn't be too bulky or too big. The S8 Ultra is really a 50/50 thing. I've seen some people who adore it because they really want that large screen size, and I've seen some people return it because it's too big. It really depends on who you are and what price you find them at. If you could save $200 and get the tab S8 Plus, it has pretty much every feature of the tab S8 Ultra but the size is a little smaller, it's not that substantial though to pay $200 extra dollars for unless you really want that big size. But if you find the S8 Ultra for $100 more maybe it's worth getting. So my recommendation is really to just find the right size of tablet that you want. Check the prices and make the best decision for you. All three tablets are terrific. I think the biggest difference is really just going to be screen size. And you could always order the Ultra and return it if you have to. Samsung and Best buy have no restock fees for tablets. But I think you will do well getting the tab S8 Plus or S8 Ultra. In considering the fact that the S7 only gets Android 13 and no more big updates, but you should get up to Android 16 on these newer tablets, that really is a strong argument for upgrading. If you do decide to upgrade feel free to use the links in the description. And don't hesitate to ask any questions. I know I tried to over explain a little bit but I was just trying to help out. I would have capitalized the T in Tab S8 but I was voice typing.
The aspect ratio of Android tablets is a put off. I've never liked them. Completely unusable in portrait. I'm saying this as a 12 year iPad user. If it wasn't for the aspect ratio, I would get an S8 Ultra any day over M1 iPads because Android OS is more "open" compared to Apple's wall garden.
Completely understandable! I think they do that because tablet users are more likely to watch videos than do productivity work. So they want videos to be as big as possible. But I know that's not for everyone

Because if tablet users are more likely to just watch videos than productivity, then the iPad, which is still the biggest seller of tablets, would have that same skewed ratio. People would be getting the Galaxy S series over the iPad Pro because of that widescreen aspect ratio. The truth is, as it was pointed out in articles a few years ago when Android tablets were still new is, because manufacturers like Samsung made their tablets in this aspect ratio because it was cheaper to just use the tv/phone aspect ratios of their existing screens. That's the only reason why the narrow aspect ratio persists on Android tablets. Apple is willing to shoulder the cost of 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio of their iPads because 1. The iPad was first introduced as portrait and largely used in portrait for many years. 2. Many Apps were designed for portrait, with the exception of course being videos...but still can be used in portrait. 3. Portrait is actually better for web browsing because there is more screen real estate along the horizontal when scrolling up and down webpages. Which is why Microsoft and other PC laptop vendors have slowly been getting off the 16:9 ration to a 16:10, it makes the landscape slightly taller, but this also makes portrait a little more useable as in the case of the Surface Pro line. Many S Galaxy fans may not think portrait is a big deal, but it actually is as the iPad and Surface Pro line are proving. Like I said. Samsung's aspect ratio for their tablets, is what holds back many iPad portrait users like me from jumping ship. Watching videos is all fine and dandy, but what about everything else? The Galaxy S tablets can't just limit themselves to being great for watching videos but can't do everything else.

Shouldn't take that long. It's possible the charger isn't delivering 45w. Some chargers will claim to be 45w when they aren't. Should take 2 hours or less on 45w
Yes, of course you have the touch screen keyboard just like you have on your phone and you also could use a Bluetooth keyboard if you want as well, you could find those pretty cheap
For second screen, go with Super Display and wired connection. I'm not a user personally since I don't have a tablet yet, but I've seen great reviews for Super Display.
Well it's down to $700 on eBay. The Galaxy Tab S8 is down to like $500 on eBay, so even though these two tablets have almost a $500 difference in normal price, the used prices are actually a lot more favorable with the ultra. But even $700 is really expensive, I get it

That is a tough one! Admittedly, this is an amazing tablet, but under the bright hot sun outdoors it may actually not be your best bet. It's under 500 nits of brightness, which may not be good enough for what you are looking for specifically. There are some very high brightness iPads, but the Tab S8 Series is between 400-500 nits. This is an OLED screen, so it's better quality in my opinion than any of the iPads, but it will be a little lower on brightness, and it's even a little more reflective. I'm sure it will still work great in the sun, but won't be as bright as some of these Macbook Pros, the recent ones are getting like 1,000 nits of brightness. To give you an idea, most laptops, cheaper ones, are normally 250 to 300 nits. 300-450 nits is normally pretty good, and really nice laptops with higher brightness normally get around 600. It's harder to notice when you are above 400 nits, but the conditions that you might notice are in that bright sunlight. So yeah, this screen is plenty bright enough for most things, but your conditions make me question it a little bit.
MacBook Pros don't have touch screen or pen support and are way too big and heavy for what you are claming to need it for. You are just another Apple fanboy asking fake questions in Windows/Android reviews so you can promote Apple products.

A few months in and I have to say I'm not thrilled. The screen is def superb but the memory needs to be cleared every day and the volume is very poor, no enough control. Would I but again .? Not sure. My Galaxy S6 was perfect. If Samaung could just combine the best of these two worlds it would be a killer tablet. Last, I went for 8 gig RAM. Had 6 on my S6 and it performed perfectly. 8 is not enough on the Tab 8 Ultra!
It was more then enough for me, but I know it's not for everyone. You can get higher GB models. May just need a better version. 8GB is just that base model
Had I known this was an issue when I bought it, I'd have gone for more memory. Not one review I read/saw mentioned it was a memory hog, and I obsessed about knowing everything I could in advance bc of the weight (I have a weak arm from a surgery 8 yrs. ago). To me, weight is not an issue with the right cover, and I have a metal stand for it. Hopefully YT viewers will know this shortcoming.
