The way Dave puts the tablet down at 02:47 really makes me warm and cozy inside. Not like other tech-tubers slamming and sliding these delicate devices around, scratching them up without even caring.
With how Windows is putting more focus on ARM support, I think the tab series could make for a great dual boot tablet in the future. There's already a project to allow some older SD chips (I think 855?) to run Windows and they work really well so it's looking feasible!
A shame samsung probably just wouldn't give this even if it could the functionality. They can't even give the a-series DEX to run second screen or something.
I love how every time you handle the devices with care. Man, you really don't take things for granted, like other reviewers. You have my utmost respect.
This thing was love at first sight for me, but my Tab S6 is still in perfect condition so I have no reason to upgrade. My one worry was that the Ultra would see low demand, which could lead to it being a one-time thing. I don't think I have to worry about that now. I'll upgrade once the Tab S9 Ultra comes around, or maybe even the S10 Ultra.
My S5e also is in good condition but that 200€ prime + an extra 100€ prime for returning a S5e or S6 is really tempting I wonder if they'll do it for the future S9, I guess not
I too have a S6!! Will probably wait upto s9, as it will get its last Android update in May!! And if Samsung gives another update in form of Android 13( finger 🤞) then S10!!
I have the tab s3, I belive it's pretty good because it's not larger than a laptop and has bezels you can hold on to. The keyboard case is also pretty good.
The great thing for me on my tab s7+ is that I can Parsec to my tower and do all actual work remotely, while maintaining the amazing battery life of an ARM OS. A shame that no one talks about this, since this isnt possible on iOS.
That's great for you, however, if you are in the range of your tower, why not just plug your tablet in. Anyway, generally speaking, IOS devices are super-efficient and don't need that exactly. Just look at the difference between the 120hz and 60hz display on the Tab S8 compared to the iPad Pro.
I never used parsec so I don't know what exactly I'm missing if anything, but I've been using the build in remote desktop for windows 10 pro on my tower to connect from my ipad and it's been working great. I usually do this for solidworks, and even all the touch screen functions work as intended. I ditched my actual windows laptop because the speed benefit from straight up better hardware was totally worth the nearly unnoticeable lag.
@@ze_or Thats awesome! Then we basically had the same Idea! The only thing that the built-in Remote Desktop cant do but parsec can, is more grafically advanced stuff. Parsec lets the PC render the screen, while Remote Desktop lets the client render the screen. Some of the work I do sadly demands grafics, that Remote Desktop cant render. Otherwise I would have actually prefered the iPad.
@@sebastianorye2702 I can connect to my Tower over parsec from anywhere :) Its great that the iPad is so powerful and efficient, but for my work I need to use programs that arent built for iOS.
I agree but the problem is yah Samsung makes pretty devise but the software is not good I’ve dealt with Samsung tablets and a few month after buying they update it and it got so slow even scrolling through the Home Screen glitched also there screen glass is soft like it scratched so easily the same day
"Is it still a tablet?" It depends in what you want to define as "tablet". If "tablet" is defined by flat touchscreen device with no physical keyboard, then, keep in mind that (medicinal & supplemental) tablets come in various sizes, some large, some small. Years ago, there was a touchscreen tablet much larger than this (2x bigger). Also, keep in mind, Wacom, Huion, and other pen tablets offer as much as 24" in size.
It's been a couple months now since I've bought this tablet and it is great. ru-vid.comUgkxAxiUS5CgVC3j8FwNOHt037zhsquGQpXv The tablet is responsive and runs well. There were a few times that the tablet did an awkward thing where it would detect pen on at all times and wouldn't register finger press, but it is usually fixed by closing and opening either the screen or app. This is highly likely due to my excessive use for drawing which caused this and wasn't really very big. As I mostly enjoy using the tablet for drawing (and some light gaming), I would comment from that aspect that there is definitely more accurate pressure and drawing using a PC device and drawing tablet, however i find the moveablity of the tablet more enjoyable to draw on. Like how you can physically rotate and move a piece of paper around or even draw casually on your bed.All in all, as a tablet it is good, and as a drawing device can be good depending on what you want from a drawing device. It is definitely good enough if you just want to use it to take notes. For typing though I can't comment on the keyboard as I did not get the keyboard.
I watched this video on my Samsung Tab S7+. Though this new tablet intrigues me, I already feel that the S7+ is too a bit unwealdy; I don't think I could handle the extra 2" of screen. There also didn't seem to be a huge upgrade besides the chipset between the S7 and the S8 So I'll stick with my S7+ for this generation. All the Samsung tablets are absolutely excellent though. If you personally are considering buying one, you'll love it. Edit: I realize my mistake in my choice of words regarding the extra screen size, but I'm leaving it in because I think the responses are hilarious.
I have the Samsung Tab S7 and I love it. It's the perfect size for me because I mostly chose it for reading books on but I do enjoy using Samsung Notes and that they included the S-Pen with their tablets unlike others.
Cool review Dave as always and always covers all positive and negative aspects in detail. However, more information S-pen, features and how it compares to Apple pencil would have been great.
Also would like to see more on DEX , device compatibility, multi-tasking and Microsoft office application support, you know, the things that actually make you productive every day.
I went to Best Buy to check out their demo models of the Tab S8 series and was pleasantly surprised that the Ultra doesn't look "too big" in person. Out of context in RU-vid videos it looks enormous, but live it just looks like a moderately bigger tablet. It's thin - really thin - which helps a lot. I'm glad I switched my pre-order from the S8+ to the Ultra, even though I have to wait longer to get it. Don't be put off by the size of the Ultra until you see it in person.
GOSH im so relieved!!! I'm a design student and I have the option to choose either S8+ or Ultra for free. Initially i nearly chose S8+ due to better size and portability. But i finally chose the ULTRA (to avoid any regrets) but still concered of its sheer size. After seeing this comment, felt that I have made the right decision.
This is a very helpful comment. Every review emphasizes on the size (rightfully so) which makes it sound like it would be uncomfortable or difficult to use. I'm glad this is not the case
I really enjoy just the personal conversation feel of your videos, Dave, and top notch quality. I watched the review video of the S22 Ultra by the Verge and it reminded me how much better your videos are.
I have a Samsung Galaxy View 2 tablet which has a 17.3" screen. I absolutely love it. It cracks me up to hear people trip about the 14.6" Ultra being massive. I should be receiving my Ultra on Tuesday. Can't wait to get it.
If I had the cash, I'd get this to replace all my paper notebooks for college. My laptop already has a touch display and I do have a wacom table to go along with it, but THIS looks like a game changer for anyone who really wants just one device to bring to work/school/college. I bet it's a productivity beast.
I replaced all my notebooks with the S7. The pen feels like a real pen and is very comfortable to hold. Also, Samsung notes is amazing. You can take a screenshot anywhere and paste it into your notes (+ a bunch of other functionalities), and the file managing system is excellent. I'd love a slightly larger screen though for when I work on multiple documents at once, but it works just great. Overall, I'd really recommend this tablet.
I have a Samsung Tab S7 myself. It's a truly amazing piece of tech. It's definitely a triumph of modern engineering and technology. The Samsung-brand case/keyboard makes it even more amazing and useful. And with a Snapdragon 865+, it's soooo fast. I can only imagine how good this one is.
@@LarsRyeJeppesen I'm with you, the trade in offer is pretty good, but honestly I have yet to have need that my s7+ even remotely struggled at. Only issue is the spen doesn't attach well. Unless it take hdmi input I think the ultra is too niche, at least for now.
I definitely agree about the popularity of this huge tablet! I've been hoping Samsung would finally make a behemoth device with solid specs, and LumaFusion is exactly what we need to transition over to Android! Solid perspective!
Bought the S7+ 8 months ago, serving me really well. Might upgrade to a s9? But this device looks so competitive in the tablet space. What a piece of machinery
Same, I have the S7+ and am using it several hours daily for university. It's awseome! Onnly thing that frustrates me is the lacking Android apps optimisation. Wish I had more screen real estate to take notes so it will be nice to see if the S8 Ultra have a good deal in 1-2 years if I want to switch!
Imagine buying a samsung tablet LMFAOOOO, clowns Im jk, the tab s7+ is a beast of a tablet, have one to go along with my iphone 13 PM for college and both are excellent devices for what I got them for.
For the second screen bit. There is an app called super display that is AWESOME! It is REALLY amazing. 120hz and full pressure sensitivity and low latency.
5:55 If you really want a paperlike experience this might be the one to go for. Samsung offer a "new" cover case where the screen cover is slightly see through and accepts input from the s pen (I believe it's called the noteview cover). The added surface makes the feel a lot closer to pencil and paper.
@Water Jogger Uhhh. This is a new type of case for the line up soooo I'm not sure how you've "had it ". The product hasn't even been shipped to general consumers yet...
I use most of my wacom penabled drawing devices with Matte screen protectors, they protect the screen, keep it clean and they feel like paper :). I'm a professional artist and use wacom Cintiq 24 pt daily (that one with no screen protector because it has etched glass), I've also use/used, most of the Note and Tab S lineup. I've Also used the Ipad with the apple pencil, but despite it being good, It doesn't work with my ecosystem of windows/android(also charging the pen drove me crazy). Also in all s-pens and wacom pens, you can change the tip to other materials, I use felt nib pens for extra friction (because I'm very light handed when drawing, or else I experience pain at night after working)
Dave showed a snippet of the W13 launch event! You are my favorite tech reviewer for life now bro 🤣. Pre-ordered my Tab S8U on launch day. I knew it would be a media consumption beast. Now that they know the demand is there, I predict the S9U will go full 4K and bump up the nits. Samsung is aggressive with trade in discounts, so I will probably just upgrade next year if that happens.
The only reason why I was interested in this device was to see how it handles HDR playback. HDR looks awesome on the S Ultra phones, and I wanted the same experience on a bigger screen. None of the other reviews focused on that part, which I found weird considering the aspect ratio was great for movies. Then you drop this video and I got my answer within a couple of minutes into it. Great content, and excellent insight into what might be relevant to a potential buyer (as usual).
Me too, seems that the iPad Pro is still the best option in that regard and the cheaper one. High end phones, the new MacBook pro, and of course tvs are considerably more expensive and very few get to that amazing image quality
@@josefranciscoramirez4438 I don’t like the iPad pro either. After using SAMOLED screens for so many years, I can’t stand anything other than pitch black. Even my TV and PC’s monitor isn’t good enough. The only thing that looks good other than LG’s OLED TVs, are some of Samsung’s QLED panels, and I can’t afford either of those. Still watching everything on my S21 Ultra.
@@MrSidneycarton I feel you in that regard, I also have a Samsung phone and it pains me to watch content on any other device i have, but I think you are confused in this one, the iPad gets to achieve pure black with its technology, is very similar to the qleds (I also like Samsung's qleds, I prefer real HDR before nicer blacks but overall dimmer images in TVs) but way more effective because of its higher count of minileds. I recommend you to see Max tech comparison with a tab s7 plus, or even better, to test one in an apple store, I assure you that this are some of the finest displays you can get right now, the only downside for me is maybe the aspect ratio, but I think display size compensates a bit for that
This was a top review! Exactly what I'm expecting from a review - it's not very long, it's pretty detailed, it has all the necessary information without spending time on things no one cares about. Really great! Perfect, I'd say.
The Samsung S8 models present an interesting proposition for Android phone users and PC users to maintain a continuous ecosystem between phone and tablet. As a mechanical engineer, PC enthusiast, and Apple iPhone, iPad Pro, and Apple Watch owner and user, I prefer the power and availability of professional applications on the iPad Pro. Since I also own an aerial drone photography and videography company, the ability to edit high-resolution photos and 4K video on either my desktop work stations, laptop Dell XPS 15, or my 2021 12.9" 512 GB iPad Pro is quite appealing. I do however agree that the S8 Ultra provides a better value proposition with the included keyboard and S-Pen in comparison to the iPad Pro lineup. I hope the Samsung S8 series of tablets are successful, more competition in the high-end/Professional tablet space would ultimately be beneficial to the consumer in the end. I Dave's inclusion of the launch video of the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 2022 challenger.
Got pretty excited when I heard about this tablet today. Already have a 12.9 M1 iPad, but the screen size really intrigued me to use this to watch movies in bed or just play some emulators. But an Oled screen with just 400 nits absolutely kills this thing for me. I really love the iPad for the insane HDR capabilities when watching movies. Hopefully Samsung will upgrade their display for the next generation. They might win me as a customer.
AMOLED screens inherently have lower peak brightness, the brightest Oled Tvs hit 500-600 peak nits. It's really a trade off of going with Oled, I think it's worth it for the better screen. Although, I normally don't use tablets in an outdoor environment so it's not an issue for me anyway.
samsung's tablet is Worse than the exynos scandals, Its sad that Samsung tries extremely hard only to make people choose the ipad due its long term value and performance.......and a Notch? seriously? With no camera stabilization or efficient facial tracking? The same old buggy half baked techs , Extremly unreasonable rate for an underclocked 400 nit tablet , got another reason to choose the ipads
@@tariqtariq5429 says who? Amoleds are the brightest displays out there , then how are ipads getting over a 1000 and samsung S22U getting as high as 1700? The reason why samsung implement A 400nit screen is that the screens produce a lot of heat , apple countered this with an efficient chip and an efficient thermals while samsung underclocked and used a lower grade amoled display
I think there is no reason to give tablets very narrow bezel. The way we hold Mobiles and Tablets are totally different. Tablets have way more screen real estate than mobile. With appropriate amount of bezel, It's easy to hold the Tab as well as there will be no notch.
@@lifefullofbugandexceptions2033 you dont get it, for a tablet having smaller bezzels will result it in accidental touches if you hold your tablet, that is why they kept the thick bezzels for s8 and s8+.
As about the brightness, it can go up to 600 nits if you turn on auto- brightness (without it is indeed limited to 400 nits), however with HDR content the measured peak brightness is 800 nits (you need to activate the bright video mode in the advanced featues for this) which is insane as most of the modern OLED TV-s can't reach this level. So yeah, screen- ways it is a real monster. The rest of the review is great ;)
All things considered, Samsung has started taking tablets very seriously. Just a few more things to iron out and these would be top tier. Gotta say the speakers are bangin, almost didn't realize when you switched to the iPad
*For your information: S-pens do not need charging for basic functions (hovering, drawing).* They need it only for bluetooth remote functions (ie. shutter release, flicks). Don't even dare to laugh at me again on this, dave.
Thanks for your perfect detail review of the product. You helped me made my decision to buy a smaller version. You mentioned pros n cons in detail which other ppl didn't mentioned in their review. You got one new subscriber today. Keep up the good work. Wish you all the best.
For anyone who wants to use their tablet as a second display I always recommend Super Display, you need to pay for it but its only a few dollars. I would say its way better than Samsung Second Display since you can connect to it over the USB-C connection AND you can use the digitizer on your PC. tldr: Get/use Super Display over Second Display.
I use the tab s7 and its absolutely fantastic. I use it everyday for hours as I follow lectures and study on it afterwards. Its fantastic for notes and for viewing all my anatomy apps. I would even say that its a bit overkill spec wise for my requirements, but i've justified it in the sense of future proofing. If the s8 is better, then it must be a really incredible tablet
Love your reviews Dave you shoot your videos in such a way where people actually see what the tablet looks like in one's hands unlike a lot of reviewers who give you very close shots and you don't really get a great sense of the size of the product and how it actually looks in one's hands
I'm upgrading from my Tab S7+ ... the only complaint I had about it was that I wanted a larger screen, and now I'll have it. I can't wait for my Ultra.
@@Valreea Well the S7+ is just right. Like a 13" MacBook. I love the Screen Ratio for Video Consumption and Streaming Games via GeForce Now. And when turned on the side it's awesome for reading, browsing or using for Spreadsheets in D&D and Warhammer 40K. A bigger screen would definitely be better for the first part and also for drawing, but for the 2nd part, reading and portability or just to use as a handheld would suffer a lot imo.

Tried this puppy out for digital drawing and general use and LOVED it!!! Ultimately though I returned it n got the ipad pro 12.9 bc the drawing experience/apple pencil in procreate can't quite be matched. If it wasn't for that, I would've picked this device over the ipad hands down!
Good video mate. Pity the chipset is underclocked , also the not overly bright display is a bit of a downer too coming from Samsung, I was almost going to change my plans from getting the IPad Pro , I’ll stick with the iPad I think . Owning galaxy notes I do like Sammy’s S pen technology, but the dull display and the knobbled chipset are deal breakers for me . And I am in total agreement that more bezel to make handling the device and general use better is fact , Also this penchant for manufacturers to continually strive to make devices so ridiculously utterly thin that it compromises the hardware and use of the device utterly dumbfounds me . And you would have to assume being so bloody thin , that if the worst happens and your device gets sat on even by a toddler or some one leans on it by accident , you are probably going to be up for either a new device or some expensive repairs. If someone offered me an almost identical tablet that was 3 or 4 mm thicker with bigger bezels and had less compromises already mentioned even if this was heavier I’d be all over it. Who knows , if it was a tad thicker perhaps they could have added more cooling to use the chip more to its potential, maybe even added a headphone jack as well and a brighter display .
Couldn’t agree more. The performance and the display is a bummer. A 14 inch tab with LTPO tech and super high brightness would have been a dream come through for media consumption and gaming but they skipped that. I quite don’t get the target demographic either, i saw them advertising luma fusion on their keynote but I don’t even wanna imagine how badly it’ll run
Well... Android Tablet is an oversized Android Phone. Changing from Galaxy Tab to iPad for fun because why not. I can say iPad is offering more experience as tablet than Galaxy Tab. But since Galaxy Tab is an oversized phone, I can easily install phone apps.
Basically all of the latest iPads have with 400-550 nits support. The only exception being the 12.9 2021 model. 400 is plenty bright enough for most people and indoor use. Also this is a new first gen screen, I think we should praise Samsung instead for actually putting a high refresh rate OLED panel in a tablet of this size (while most manufactures are still using stone age LCDs in their latest laptops/tablets), they seem to be the only manufacture actually trying to use new technology in their devices.
The screen brightness killed it for me. Most phones, even xiaomi devices are 700nits indoors and auto brightness 1000nits in the sunlight... 400 nit oled panel is simply to good enough for that price. Secondly, if luma fusion and other editing and software apps have to run with heavy multi-tasking, will the under clocked chipset be capable? It should be still?
Good android tablets are very underrated. I know iPad won the markets are game, but I use a MacBook and iPhone, yet really enjoy using my "old" Galaxy Tab S6. I honestly think Android/OneUI is a better Tablet OS than iPad OS.
It looks like a great tablet. I'm surprised they didn't use that technology where they can hide the front facing camera showing like on the fold 3. But then again that probably would've sacrifice the camera quality. Also I see you listen to Dillon Francis his new album is really good 😊👍
My biggest issue with android tablets is that the Onenote app is still identical to the mobile phone version, whereas the ipad has a much more developed version
I work an oilfield job where I'm living in different hotels most weeks of the year. Got mine S8 Ultra on pre-order. It's gunna be such an upgrade to my phone screen for watching RU-vid and Netflix in the evenings!
I wanted to wait for the S8 gen, but my old school pen tablet ended up dying on me around Thanksgiving and I had work to do. Ended up grabbing an S7+ with the $100 Black Friday discount and I'm glad there's not much to miss out on, especially with the price increase.
@9:00 "Who needs a tablet of that size?" As a professional musician myself, I find the larger screens much easier to read sheet music on from a distance of around 3-4 feet. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE just for the screen size and this newer S8 Ultra seems like a great option for musicians looking for a tablet that can easily replace paper sheet music.
I am sold on picking one of these up, looks awesome! I do a lot of video calling as I work remote from Mexico, and this would be good when I am away from my desk. That screen (other than the brightnss) is killer!
Great review. Could you tell me if there is an option in the display settings to hide the notch? The lack of image stabilization and brightness in outdoor settings are downsides that I am really glad you pointed out. I think I am better off holding onto the Tab S7 Plus.
Large thin tablet is why I like the surface book so much. This is cheaper, but less powerful, but android is a better touch experience. Great to have options on large, thin tablets!
I've had the tab S4 since it launched in 2018, and it's still an awesome tablet. I'm going to wait for S9 ultra for now because I really don't like the notch on it. If I want to make a videocall to my family, it's easier with my phone since I can set it up everywhere. I hope the screen is even better next year, I love the bigger screen. Edit: I bought it and I love it.
@@cs-vk9lj I don’t get how people say that their android devices from 2ish years ago are slow, like I’m genuinely confused. Before I switched my s8 to a s22, my s8 was still very fast and can even run Genshin on 30fps, albeit it was a device from 2017, but still it was a good 3-4 hours of gameplay
The brightness (or lack of) on the Samsun Tab 'S' range shocked me at how dismally dim they were when viewing them in my local store. I had to check the brightness setting for each and every one of them (S7, S8, S8+, S8 Ultra, etc) because I couldn't believe the lack of brightness.
Thank you for your videos! I enjoy watching them. I think both Apple and Qualcomm are obsessed with raw power rather than optimizations and efficiency. It's like they are the Intel they once criticized. Wait in a few years if they still trying to make OP chips, then we should expect a mini fan soon to cool it down... I think we have enough processing power for mobiles, what we need is software optimizations to better work with that power.
Did u say Apple is more obsessed with raw power than optimization and efficiency? The opposite is rather true. Apple is the king of optimization and efficiency in the chip industry!
@@wisdomyaw03 For sure it is! for light work and simple use. Now tell that to my new iPad Pro 12.9 it overheats when while playing certain games, overheats with certain heavy app use after just 5 minutes. Same thing with iPhone, so I think its too much processing power and too much heat for small device.
Holy crap those speakers! I was not expecting that much of a difference. The iPad sounds better than my Tab S6 and the Tab S7. But it sounds like Samsung have used the extra space to improve the speakers. That's huge! The iPad speakers were already impressive
The brightness is an extremely frustrating scenario when Samsung is a display manufacturer and the S22 Ultra is hitting 1750 nits. I don't want a new device that isn't breaking 1000 nits much less for a device at this price. I really like working outside these days.
Who uses their tablet at 100% brightness? I never go above 10% brightness. Always use it between 0%-10%. Too bright makes me sick pretty quick. Plus 100% brightness is bad for AMOLED screens. A 14.6" tablet is not something you will take out in the sun every day. My 11" Tab S7 stays always at home. I can't use it at 20%+ brigthness bc the screen is way too bright.
Wireless second screen feature is really great for game streamers i guess, so they can hook it up as a second screen and use it view chat screen whilst gaming. And the size is great for drawing. I have tab s6+, i wish i had a budget to upgrade to this one. It'd be great.
I do think streamers prefer to get a pc monitor for 1/10 the price with vesa mount for chats and music. Modern gpus can output signal to up to 4 displays simultaneously
@@nemesistech pro streamers might, but there are people like me, have little audience but like to stream and buying this product as second screen is not the main reason for them but it's a bonus. Btw, i wish these new tablets include hdmi input port for photographers and videographers. I'd be nice to able to use them as external screens for cameras.
It's great due to the screen size, but I hope for Tab Fold and the aspect ratio for Tablet is just similar as PC monitor. It would be useful when the Web Apps migrate to the WASM, so it would work efficiently for Arm proc. Curious M1 or M850 for the better and efficient processing. For Android, I hope they would adapt Ubuntu VM or Hybrid OS, then I can run Blender 3.0 on it.
Love your reviews. How tough is it? With that screen size and thinness it looks a bit delicate. However, happy to see how it does in practice and consider the next version. And the screen brightness should be sorted by then. And perhaps even foldable which would be great. Also allows time for Android apps on larger screens to improve, something that foldables are helping to do.
I'm guessing most reviewers who complain about the brightness (or lack thereof) of the Ultra don't realize that OLED screens are never as bright as LCD are, and more likely to get burn in with brighter screens anyway. I am completely in the Apple ecosystem -- tons of devices -- but I bought the Ultra because it fits a need that the iPad 12.9" (I have an older gen 12.9") doesn't satisfy because of the bigger screen and wider aspect ratio on the Ultra. Perfect for videos and comic viewing, which is primarily what I bought it for. Don't love the notch and not a fan of the Samsung Android version but very happy with the screen, the build quality, and the battery life. Wish I could get Second Screen to work with my work Windows 10 PC at home but I haven't had success. Nonetheless, this is a great tablet for certain uses and I would get it if you want it for media consumption, including comics, which is a much better experience than a 12.9" iPad Pro.
Did you try to turn on Adaptive brightness? It will make a big difference when you are outdoor or in a bright environment. In a bright environment, it will make the screen extra bright.
My moms tablet just came the other day , I loved it so much that I had to order me one . I would say before buying it to please get a case , this tablet is so slippery . The display is great I can’t wait to play some games on it
I'm waiting for the 5G version to get back into stock. Then I'm planning on trading up. I've been a Note user since the beginning and I rarely use paper at all. The extra space on the screen will be really useful for me, for writing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. I'm not a gamer so I won't have to worry about this points the presenter made.
Dave, I need your advice. I can't decide between Strix G14 and Z13 that you reviewed in previous video. FYI: -I do content creating -I mostly use it for work -Cant say that I don't game but I've recently quit games since 2013 -I know ppl gonna say "why not surface pro" but for that price range I'd say ROG is always a better pick for specs
@@sohailbarvar7817 One thing I forgot to mention, I don't really have that much faith in brand like Gigabyte when it comes to after service although the tech specs are more less similar. It's either Acer, Dell, HP, MSI, ASUS for me. @@ab-15188 Im not sure. These days most gaming laptops have nice specs and screens that support 100% SRGB and can be used as a gamer/creator laptop. If you don't already own a monitor and not planning on buying one I'd probably choose something with a larger screen like 16" or at least 15". What specs are you looking for in a laptop as a creator ? Do you need things like an SD card reader/ pen support or even portability for thay matter ? Gigabyte aero 16 is the one of the only laptop with a mini led 120hz display option other than asus zaphyrus due and msi creator Z16 that I know of and that's why I recommended it. How much is your budget ? What kind of specs are you looking for 3080ti? 3050? Since you might use it for gaming I'd say avoid oled panels since they currently only go as high as 60hz so your best bet is probably a mini led high refresh rate panel but depending on your budget you might as well go for a high quality IPS panel like the ones on asus Zephyrus M16, acer Triton 500 se or lenovo legion 7 or 5 pro.
@@sohailbarvar7817 Thank you for the recommendation. Budget is not an issue so far. But of course I wouldn't want to buy 100% gaming focus specs as I might not utilize it. Mostly work (Adobe programs) but good enuf for casual gaming (preferably laptop that play in ultra quality if not high resolution in most high graphic games) in case I want to play.
@@ab-15188 what about MacBook pro 16 the m1 max variant it fits all of your criteria except gaming. It can game even at high resolution but the games are limited and the performance is not great.
Lmao. I actually use a 5w charger for my 13 Pro Max and find it perfectly adequate. Especially since I only charge at night. Now i’m really curious how long a depleted Tab Ultra would take to charge using my 5w charger. You guys think it would finish in 8 hours over night?
theoretically it would take 11.2 hours to charge from 0%, at a constant 1A. phones/tablets dont usually charge at a constant rate tho, but idk how that changes with slow chargers. then again usually u wont really be depleting the battery completely, so theres that.
This may be too big for most but this is really appealing for those of us who are digital artists and 3d artists. All that screen space for sketching and painting plus it can double as a second screen with my laptop when I'm on the go. I'm going to seriously consider this.
I will buy the S8+ and not the Ultra because the pixel density drops after each size upgrade, and from the Plus to the Ultra is the most significant drop. The battery on the plus is 2000 mAh bigger than the normal one, but the Ultra is only 1200mAh bigger than the Plus one. The bezels on Ultra are very thin, perfect for static work, but very difficult to handle when holding it in the hands. I think the notch in the middle looks not good when having the tablet vertical, so yeah, I am going with the plus variant and not the Ultra.
i saw a review that the m1 ipad wasn t that pratical either like trying to create a pdf, edit an image file etc, but its months old did they fix it now(question mark)
How will it limit its versatility? This thing can literally take have 5 or more split screens at the same time as opposed to Apple which cannot and you want to talk about being versatile?
There’s FL Studio Mobile that’s pretty good. But better than GarageBand… not too sure. Not to mention how well iOS handles virtually plugging in audio apps into each other. Samsung’s GarageBand type app for Galaxy devices was decent just not as good as GarageBand but they killed it a few years ago for some reason
Bruh its not androids fault, App developers are just putting more emphasis on iOS thats it. Without developers the iPad would be terrible for music production. Don't complain to Samsung complain to the companies that make the App.
It's not just ios. MacOS seems a step ahead than Windows too. It's mostly because of developers and an already apple consumer base but also windows audio driver handling is awful
@@itsasadbunny It was actually an Android limitation for quite a while that it couldn't handle the realtime audio processing as well, so it just didn't happen. Making an Android equivalent bordered too difficult to be worth it and not possible. Heck I remember one app I used that actually offloaded the audio processing to the cloud because that was a better solution than trying to do it realtime on Android. That issue pretty much cemented iOS as the mobile audio production king to this day even though that issue was fixed years ago. Now the market for it just isn't really there because of Android not being capable of it for so many years that iOS was able to dominate the mobile audio product market. From a dev perspective, people who want audio production on a phone/tablet still see iOS as the only option due to Android's audio shortcomings for years, no good reason to go after such a small market. Yes complain to Samsung, they made the only true GarageBand equivalent on Android, locked it to their phones, and killed it after like two years! I know because I loved using it on my Note 8 and still remember the day I factory reset my phone and learned the app was no longer available....it had so much potential.
This should be a replacement for a tv for some people, I just wish they can add an input hdmi plug, so we can use these tablets as secondary or even primary monitors when their hardware gets old.
Remind me of the Samsung Galaxy View 18.4" back then.. it was intended to be used at home, maybe like in the kitchen for looking at receipes while you work or living room to show ur photos etc.. not for carrying around.. this 14" tablet is getting closer to that 18.4" screen size.
I'm not going to lie to you. Dave, you mentioned function. However, I believe that as we get bigger and bigger with these tablets, they get less and less competitive, since the bigger they get, the more painful it is to compare a product like this to a 13-14 inch Notebook, a category that wipes up the floor with this tablet. Just take a look at what Asus has created with the G14, or with that 13-inch tablet monster. Who is gonna buy something like this if these Notebooks are there as well? Tablet makes sense between 8" and 11" in my opinion. Anything above that starts to lose what made it good in the first place.
As a college STEM student, I use my s7 fe for 8 hours a day. I use all 12.4". Really helpful for textbooks and notes at the same time. I might appreciate the extra space on the s8 ultra, but I'll probably upgrade to the s9+ since it might be too much space, and the s7 fe serves my needs as of now (even though there is some lag as I'm working due to 4gb ram). However, I think art students would get the most use out of this. The color palette on your phone feature + the extra space + free spen that feels like a pencil on paper is pretty good. Those students could really get the most use out of this. And with luma fusion support incoming, i think that would make it even better for college creatives. Though there is a case to be made for something like the surface pro 8 if you are not in the samsung ecosystem. Pricing wise I think mostly people already in the Samsung ecosystem will get the best deals. I got my s7 fe for $400 off of ebay new. Samsung is offering $500 for it with a trade in. I think that's how they get people to pay the price of the ultra.
@@LarsRyeJeppesen His argument is that Google seemingly doesn't care about tablets anymore since every iteration of Android has been caring about it less and less and app developers aren't focusing on Android tablets anymore. It's really not that difficult to understand what he's trying to say
@@LarsRyeJeppesen Is there anything wrong with staying with the same car company forever though? As long as it’s reliable and affordable (Toyota), why would I ever consider a Mercedes or Ford?
Samsung always makes fun of apple for their choices and then goes on doing the same thing, used to mock them before iphone 6, then with headphone jack, then with the notch, then charger and now this
The funnier thing is, they mocked apple for it, and they kept the jack in and ONLY removed it after they brought out their own wireless earbuds. Remember guys, companies don’t care about you. Let them hear you with your wallet, buy only what you need.
I've got the Tab s7+ and its pretty big and heavy. Put a case on it and it gets really heavy. I can't imagine this one and using it like a tablet. I wish they would have made it a little bit more square because it is too narrow. If it was more like an A4 paper that would have been great.
