*CORRECTION*: The Razr Plus 2024 version in the US *ONLY COMES* with a cable in the box (NO fancy case or other cool accessories). We apologize for the mistake, it seems we got a different version of the phone. I do like the design of the Moto much more over the Flip. If Moto could get their act together on the software support updates they would have a winning formula.
@@blahz7152 I know it's anecdotal, but the only phone that has ever broken on me in my entire life is the Flip5 (not my first foldable either). I'm very careful with my phones and never dropped it but the bezel/seal cracked near the hinge and completely killed any sort of environmental sealing/protection for the hinge, AND they didn't honor it under warranty at less than 1 year old. Not a scratch or dent on the rest of the body, and it was always in a samsung-branded case, so no idea how it happened. Motorola could be worse, sure, but I don't know if I'd pick one over the other for durability, because I think these folding phones aren't meant to last particularly long and even Samsung/Motorola know it. I am switching off Samsung because I've finally had enough with their abysmal customer service (I've been in the ecosystem for awhile with the watches, buds, and phones), although I haven't necessarily heard good things about motorola either. But might as well try something new, even if it's also bad, eh? For what it's worth, I did like the Flip5 while it lasted. If I could choose ANY flip device, I'd want to try the Oppo Find N3 Flip and just cover it through insurance since warranty wouldn't be an option but it's currently unavailable in the US from any reputable stores. So it looks like Razr is the only option unless Google makes a flip...
@@blahz7152my flip 3 and flip 4 both had screen cracking issues in less than a year. My razr 40 still looks brand new. I don't think Moto have the build quality issues
@@CaptainToadUKdid you just compare not one but TWO older models to a newer one that was released only a year ago? Lol logic?? You probably even had the razr 40 for only a month loll
For me the Razr is the better phone. Bigger screen, better battery life, less noticeable crease AND almost half the price. Not concerned about the camera - those pics were almost identical. Great review.
I would actually prefer the razor over the flip when it comes to cameras mainly because they already had the highlights and you can adjust all the other settings later on with the editing features
Yeah, moto seems to do the apple thing with battery life. If they can add a really nice feature but it tanks battery life, they opt out until it’s more efficient. Apple, Samsung, moto. Had all 3 and moto is the battery king.
I had the flip 3 and flip 4. Both were great until they developed screen issues after about 6 months. My razr 40 is a year old now and still looks brand new. I also love the almost complete lack of bloatware on the Moto - reminds me of my old OnePlus phones
Being a z fold 4 user for the past 2.5 years and being that I'm now going on my 3rd replacement phone via insurance due to hinge and screen issues. The differences between the flip and the razr don't seem to warrant double the price for the Samsung. I'd go with the razr.
I in the same Circle & cant decide to get the new zflip 6 or motorola razor plus . Im a samsung person but this yr $100 decrease for zflip6 hurts. & another hand motorola razor is same price 999.99. Sooooo thats where im stuck @ of getting which phone
I upgraded from a z flip 5 to the razr plus 2024.... Moto continues to innovate as Samsung is reliant on their brand recognition... The outer screen size is too small....
How are you liking the Razr after a month? I'm thinking of ditching my Z Flip 5 primarily for the battery life, which is the most frustrating thing about it.
The issue is that each Motorola Razr plus differs per region. The American razr actually has a BETTER screen with 3000 nit brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR 10 plus, 165 hz display and 12 GB of RAM
@@dertigerbauch I'm aware of the storage. You said American razr has better screen?.. From the specs i see both the US and non US versions have same screen? Am I missing anything? Btw the US version is 12gb/256gb not 8gb/256gb
They should just open source their software and stop the bootloader code request program bs... let the community create the perfect OS. I am no longer interested in any phone with closed source spyware OS.
I bought both. And chose to return the Samsung. Doesn't feel as functional to me as the Razr. While about the brightness, idk they're both very bright. I can't even see myself using the brightness of Moto.
The razr looks like the better choice EXCEPT for Motorola's software support and update issues. That's almost impossible to overlook and forgive. There are also a huge amount of customers who say their razr died within a year.
@@popeye199506they must be whining about the apps that come on the phone. RU-vid is one that is installed out of the box, as Is linked in, and Microsoft office 365
@@popeye199506my samsung keeps on auto downloading mom games like candy crush and wordscapes and I have to delete them every once in awhile. And theres specific samsung bloatware like Dictionary and Bixby that I never use.
Such as Bixby, AR, my files, and TV. And alway connecting Bluetooth to my truck even when I have it connected to my home system. Something my wife's edge don't do.
With all due respect, why didn't you mention one of the most important & worthwhile features for a flip phone: The ZFlip's LACK of ability to use the Google Assist HANDS-FREE while closed. (The ZFlip used to do this...until it stopped, long ago, with no fix in sight). Conversely, the Razr does this perfectly, making it a truly hands-free device! That alone makes the Razr+ the only choice!
100% I have the Flip 5 and looking to upgrade due to the 12mp camera. The Google Assistant thing still being an issue on the Flip 6 my be a BIG factor here.
@@whillb There are other benefits to the Razr too... Since my last comment, I've held & operated both...& the Razr is better in many ways. But I'm still stunned by Samsung's inexplicable omission of its primary feature/benefit: Use it hands-free while it's folded!
I chose Razar Plus because of bigger external display. Honestly now i rarely use normal display, got used to do almost everything on smaller one don`t think i could do the same with the Samsung since external display is too small in my opinion. The only downside of Motorolla for me is lack of ultra wide camera and would prefer that a lot more instead of 2x optical zoom one.
You missed out on optical zoom and holding the phone like a cam corder on the razr! Also, being able to run NATIVE apps without downloding a 3rd party tool on the external display is HUGE!
I'm glad that all apps do not run on the cover screen of the Galaxy and I can use good lock to add them if I want. Hopefully, this will help me reduce my phone usage overall. Also, have been using a note 10 plus for 4.5 years and Samsung has won me over with the quality. Moto being Chinese now just doesn't give me that confidence. I also think the battery on Samsung would improve even further once the phone learn usage patterns. The cameras would improve overtime as well and the support is also great. However, I wished they added 45W charging on the flip. That is a disappointing omission. Finally, the offers on the Flip 6 (650 Dollars trade in for my 4.5 year old phone + a 100 dollar coupon + 2 year EMI with 0% interest & processing fee) made it a rather easy choice for me!
personally, for the way i would use them, the razr is the better phone. between the bigger more versital screen, better battery and charging, and basically stock android. i dont like samsung UI and couldn't care less about the AI features. HOWEVER, if the 2023 models are anything to go off of, the razr is extremely difficult to repair the inner screen. so much so that most places wont even attempt it. and for those that will, its so expensive that its almost not even worth it. that would be fine if you have insurance, but if not then it might be a deal breaker for me.
I got the flip 6 through telus Canada for $0 and can say coming from Motorola stylus 5g 2024. It is so amazing, fast, camera is unreal but I do wish it had the front screen
In the UK Moto offers a three-year display repair for £139, which is bout the difference in price below the Flip6. So buy this and that will make you more confident.
@@Involvement82 If your preference is oversaturated and over sharpened photos that true. This is an old Samsung trick they use to use. Video is subpar on the Razr in that it has bad audio and jiddery capture sometimes. But get what you want it's all personal preference. Cheers
@@thelastnatty8537 Agree and Disagree. Motorola software and OS support is not great. Their phones tend to work well initially and then develop issues because Moto does not keep up with refinement. It's really Lenovo being lazy. Heck most 2023 Razr's just got Android 14. It's been out almost a year. 15 will be released in August.
Upgrading my phone from z flip 3 (3 years) to razr+! Have to say, the flip phones won't last past 4/5 years... the screen protector ends up messing up & the screen starts damaging... I've taken really good care of mine as well.... but yea.... after 3 years... it's best for an upgrade....
the fact that the razr allows you to use any app on the outer screen and the outer screen is actually large to be usable is a huge advantage over the flip. Yes there is good lock but moto intends the razr to be used this way while samsung is making it an afterthought. trade in value is 50/50 since you can sell last year phones for more yourself than doing a trade in. Flip wins with more android updates but overall the razr is a better phone as a flip phone.
Tough choice since they really have their pros and cons. I also wonder why there are no other manufacturers entering the flip phone market? I would pick the Razr for now
I am in the UK and I have not got it yet.... it is arriving tomorrow but I have ordered a Motorola Razr50 ultra ((the Razr+ 2024)). I have two phones I carry deppendent on who has the number the other line being a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra so I like big phones. Personally if I was going to use a phone for photography I would go with the S23 unless I was working with limited pocket space then the Razr will do especially with features like camcorder mode. Yes the Zflip 6 has it on AI but general features including desktop mode the Motorola takes it by a landslide.
@@jerinayakubu1693 It is a very underated device. It isnt upgraded as much as samsung and doesnt have the A.I. Capabilities but it is an excellent phone and the tech is better than the galaxy flip. It may have trade offs but the battery lasts a full day and most of what I do I do not even have to use the full screen just the front one which saves battery. If your considering it I will say you will not be disapointed comparing it to another flip phone. It is also the best of both worlds the function of a s22 or s23 ultra but with the pocket profile smaller than an iphone 4
@@PhoneArena the first one had a thick white stripe going down the middle of it, and they replaced it with a refurbished one. That one ended up freezing on me, and they replaced that one with another refurbished one which is what I have now, a d trading in for the Flip 6 before this one goes.
@@lzrdkng115 I’m on my 3rd as well and plan to trade it for the Samsung. While the Razr looks nicer IMO, both of my first two completely broke within a couple months of having them. I mean completely mangled just from falling 1 foot to the ground 🥲🙃
i just ordered razr plus 2024 and free pair of bose quietcomfort earbuds 2 899.00 us dollars earbuds go for 300 bucks so this is a pretty deal lets see how it goes and will be back to review.
I got so excited when you said it'll come with a case so I ran and checked my order.... Sad to find out they aren't doing that in the USA. Their site doesn't even have those cases to purchase....or any lol
Shoot, that's too bad! I just checked on Motorola's US website and you are right, you just get the phone and a cable, nothing else! I guess we got a different version or some sort of reviewer privilege!
I ordered the Razr I think it will fits my daily needs perfectly fine. I already have an iphone 14 pro max for anything else, I can truly say I 😮hate it, to many bells and whistles but it was gifted to me by my daughter.
It gives me a headache. I'm a Flip5 owner and although I'm very happy, the purchase bonuses available in my country are giving me a headache and thinking about switching. The original price in my country for the Flip6 is $1,245. If I trade in my Flip5, I'll get a $450 discount plus a $214 "Trade-in Flip6" bonus, so the final price of the Flip6 would be around $581, which is already something very hard to ignore. Ideas, advice? :D
I mean for the trade in price I'd probly do it for that If ur not gettin coverage but with the added coverage for the razor+ it's cheaper than if u added coverage to Samsung. Either way a tough call lol
@@jcash3360 Wow, I probably wouldn't hesitate in your case, even if you pay a lot more than I would for a trade. Maybe i skipp this generation and try another one next year
For the $200 price difference , i will go with the Motorola. I get way faster charging. Bigger cover display and main display. Looks better overall stylistically. The performance difference is minor. The camera quality difference is not enough.
Noted, for me camera is good enough as i normally use my DSLR/PTS cameras hence I'll go for the Motorola as I'm a Motorola user for 18 years and counting. None of my phones have ever put me down. My droid turbo 2 from 2015 passed to my uncle and still in use till now!
I really wanted the RAZR, but Samsung's pre-order offers are just too good! Motorola doesn't offer anything similar. The Flip 6 certainly has a higher resale value.
People always talk about Os update issues with Motorola, ive owned the Razr 2020,2022,40 ultra and now for some reason the 50 ultra, yes Motorola might be a little slow on os updates, but security updates have always been on time, truthfully in day to day use i cant tell yhe difference from android 12 to 14,os updates turn up whenever im more concerned with security updates...these are just my opinions
Great review style. I chose the Flip over the Razr last two years. Moto always has attractive flashy features and Samsung is all round better. The 6 is solid and the camera is way improved over the 5.
The RAZR looks really awesome. It's a shame though, because I also use my phone for work and Motorola's poor security update support makes that a non-starter. In order to keep my device in compliance with my company I MUST have a phone that keeps up to-date with security updates, and Samsung is just awesome at that. Sorry, Motorola.
Honestly, if the personalization was as good as samsung, I'd switch the razr. The razr feels and looks better but I've invested so much into galaxy themes and making my phone super personalized I hate to lose out. That's why I switched back to samsung within 4 months of owning the razr.
Your review totally misses the point of a flip phone like this. Razr front screen blows away the Samsung's in quality and also app continuity when opening and closing the phone, you can continue watching video or using an app. Samsung can't do that all, the front screen is more like a watch.
That's a good point, and I did indeed miss it, but you're right, the bigger screen and software on the Razr feels better optimized for such essential use cases.
Yeah because.... Thats kind of the goal of a foldable? Why tf are you buying a foldable, when you are just gonna stick to the small display on the outside😂
Well I'm a part time worker-student so while the Flip seems better for me, where I live the Razr is like %40 cheaper so that's my horse, thanks for the vid
things to also consider: Razr+ 2024: - Has Gemini AI free for three months but after that no AI unless you pay 20 a month; or if you wait until Moto AI releases sometime in the future. - It has a lower grading system when it comes to durability and protection from dust/water - No customizable animated wallpapers for the cover screen (So you can't put your own GIF) - Lack of third party cases so you're pretty much stuck with the ones motorola sells - Yes who cares about the 3/4 years software update, more than 75% of you will get a new one within 2 years - Yes it has the bigger display but 90% of the times when using an app that is interactive you will be shifting the screen to be on top of the cameras, making it pretty much as big the the Z flips cover screen. - Cover screen is not as durable as the Z Flip As for the Z flip 6 - Very customizable - Can put any animated wallpaper on the cover screen - Free AI and much better from pure specs and paper - Better quality/build - Better customer support - Not such a good cover screen but I think being really customizable makes up for it - Much better third party assistance like cases and so on In the end of the day you really do get what you pay for, yes one is cheaper but it's not because you're getting a deal, one offers more than the other yet a lot of reviewers don't mention this and that's fair.

The flip 6 has “better quality” but most reviews I’ve seen say the screen started peeling off/breaking after 2-9 months of use. Not even a full year. Flip phones like this are a risk but better quality is laughable.
Its funny how ppl try to make some good arguments for the razr, while they talk about minor points. Some are eagerly triggered by bloatware it seems, which gets uninstalled by me in matter of seconds... Thats it... We talk about a 3 minutes work. Next they are complaining about, that you cant use every app on the cover screen right away. You can enable it, but I think those ppl should reconsider their choices for a flip. It is a feature not being able to fully use the phone on the cover screen, rather than a hindrance... I mean why are you buying a foldable, if you are aiming to just use the cover screen anyways? Than you should stick to usual phones! Software support is getting downplayed. 7 years of updates is crazy, even of you are not aiming to use it for 7 years. However I actually set that for 7 years surely. I have put an insurancy on it will go until no more. I dont want to change my phone every 3 years. Fast charging hands down. Samsung tf have you done there? Camera: I actually dont care Noone talked about the processors for some reason? Do both rock the Sd 8 gen 3? Ai features. Yes they are useful. But not for everybody ofc Waterproofing. Iirc the razr dosnt have any rating, while the flip comes with ab Ip rating. Its waterproof and dustproof. Seems to irrelevant for a lot of ppl for some reason. It nearly feels like ppl try to find alternatives, in order to find alternatives, because bohoo Im a special person. Ok kinda explanetory if we are talking about flip users anyways. However I got an extremely good deal with the watch 7 and buds 3 pro, why I got the flip 6. I aim to exactly do whats the best you can do with a flip. Reduce phone usage and focus on life. A quick reply, whats the time? And go on.
I'm in choice time, but I don't think that the external screen size difference is a minor point, same for battery duration and the real problem, Put a top soc in half smartphone have a drawback, Throttling on cpu, screen that necome Black sometimes during Hot days and battery Cooked. I can strade updates for this
@@mentalrey1 Because you are obviously going to use the screen around to cameras... They even made a festure to black out the exact are the flip 6 dosnt have a screen, so you can actually use the buttons on the bottom, so no that "extra" screen dosnt make any difference. Also about the temperatures: Idk where you live, but I have 0 issues eith overheating and black screens. Tbf tho I dont play games or make much demanding tasks on the flip 6.
It dosn't matter what flip or fold version - The screen is going to break Like the flip 4 which my friend lost his in 8 months of use. All of these so called fancy phones and gimmics and really need to be taken off the market Because when it breaks - the price of replacement screen is $600 to $900 dollars... and No samsung wont cover this or honor warranty or third party company will also not cover this either...
Everybody want to have big screen Motorola Razr Plus. Overall the specs are not big different between Samsung Flip 6 and Motorola Razr Plus so i prefer take Motorola Razr Plus is the Winner. It’s a waste of money to buy Samsung Flip 6 because almost the same as Samsung Flip 5. Booo…. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
I'm jumping from the Z flip 5 to the razor 2024 Plus. The Z flip 6 was an insult to Samsung loyalists. Samsung is just banking on their brand recognition. Motorola is actually being innovative.
@@Jerbato That screen which is supposed to be a "let me have a quick look", rather than "I will now use my foldable phone from the outside screen so I dont need to fold the phone"? Why tf do ppl buy foldables 😂😂😂😂😂😂, especially when they already brag about "you can use all apps in razr right away"
Samsung's Z flip coverscreen is useless because it is so limited in what apps you can use. I don't wanna install third party software to run apps on it. Motorola supports all apps on the coverscreen natively. In my opinion, if you are buying a flip phone, go for the Moto because otherwise if you get the Z flip, the coverscreen is useless and you might as well just get an S24
Huh? Goodlock isn't a 3rd party app lol..and you're just being ignorant that there's two large ass cameras in front of the screen so there's really minimal difference in viewing area
Am sick of SAMSUNG devices after long experience with NOTE devices and galaxy 20 ultra when the lens glass brake by it self SAMSUNG charged me 300$ for repair ( warranty still active ) and i found its not just me having this problem there where many others just like me,( Samsung mistake ) so i quit buy anything from Samsung again and i will go with Motorola this time and see! (this shall be my first device hope not last ), Moto have better screen better chassis better camera and much much more + fast charger and phone case and less price than the flip and yet, still SAMSUNG wining in the market because they have a lot of slaves they buy any thing SAMSUNG throw at them even if it just a rock carry Samsung name, in other hand if you check, there is a lot of countries uses moto products for communication for example police waki toki and ambulance vehicles radio and many more, that's mean moto is more reliable than other companies, that's my opinion and i hope am right.
It seems in some regions, they were doing a first eddition deal which came with a case, buds, and a wall charger. So that is true, but it was limited to a small group.
@@Cubano2031 I live in Romania, ordered this and it came with a 68W charger. Saw some people from India reviewing the phone and it was also receiving some Nice headphones. I guess it comes down to the region You order them from, they seem to offer different things.
For the extra 100$ you get a better camera, much faster SOC, better display, longer software support, better durability(IP rating more durable display), and easier to repair. The Razer gives you a larger display that is cut out by the camers, so the use experience is 90% the same as the Flip and faster charging with a longer lasting battery. This is an objective look and tbh idk how tf you can recommend a Razer when they are almost the same price
