I own a fold 3 for 2 years now. At first I bought it because it was a nice gimmick and i wanted to try it. I didn't really like the small outer screen at first. But in the past 2 years the fold stick to me. The outer screen became handy and with the learning keyboard, i can type quick with one hand. I never thought I was going to buy a fold again but for me it is unthinkable to switch back again to a "normale" phone.
I was the same with my fold 3 but after 2 years I need that front screen to be bigger. It nice to hold it one handed for the basic things like playing music, samsung pay etc. using it for more things I want a big screen. I'm a note user. big screen is nice but it not like I'll use that walking around full opened.
@DGundam90 I can understand that completely. I did own a note prior and they are excellent. At least in my opinion. So I did test the pixel too and even then I did prefer the smaller outer screen from the fold. I know that most people disagree
@@kdubspencer3390 I never used it much, unless I'm travel and wanna watch the movie. other then that I used the front screen more. I would say it that hard, I'm a note user I do miss using the pen.
Same. If the outer screen was wider I would've gone with the fold. Now I'll probably just get an S23 ultra instead. I wish we had the honor magic v2 globally.
Maybe a few mm only. I like that it is comfortable to use with 1 hand coz if you're gonna use 2, might as well use the main screen. Look at his hand acrobatics in 3:19 .
@@hadmos855 I had the Z Fold 4 for about 4 months before selling it and buying the S23 Ultra. The Fold is a fantastic phone but the outer screen is just not wide enough. As a result of this the keys on the keyboard are extremely close together and you inevitably get lots and lots of typo's, at least I did. I use my phone a lot for business and the alternative was to use it fully unfolded all the time. I had real concerns about doing though due to battery drain. The S23 is a fantastic phone and I really do not regret my decision. If and when Samsung offer a folding device with a regular size front screen I will buy one immediately. For the life of me I cannot understand why they make the front screen so skinny.

Do you use s pen on fold? Because I don't like to work with the s spen and the fold in the screen. It just don't work that well when writing or drawing. For me it isn't
Great comparison the Samsung is definitely more seasoned when it comes to the inner display/multitasking etc..but i think google a few updates away from giving it a real compatition and dat front display def a win for google.
Ive enjoyed the z fold 3 , 4 and now the five . Very curious for one plus open . Google fold has a nice form factor in theory , still feels like a prototype phone from them , much akin to the samsung OG fold . Shorter and wider , with spen housed in body , and functionality on both screens will truelly be something special in whatever iteration it comes from samsung . Till then , for all of its short comings with the tall narrow front display (which ive become quite used to over the last 2 years ) the fold series is truly something to behold , and never stops wowing me when i open and close this thing . Truely some future tech come to life . Love your videos and cheeky little accent, cheers mate . ✌️
I'm getting the z fold 5 :) my current phone is the s21 plus which I am due an upgrade from the beginning of August so perfect timing for me. Plus I can finally play all the other games on my youTube channel which my current phone can't handle too well without it getting super hot. So I can't wait to upload my mobile gameplays :)
Price aint bad if you soak up the deals and pre-order. Right around $2k for Fold 5 with 512mb, buds 2 pro, watch 6 classic 47mm LTE, and s pen case with screen protector is what I got. I also keep my phones longer than most, been using a note 10+ and watch 3 for 4 years. Will be a nice upgrade.
Nice I got the same minus the watch and I'm also upgrading from a Note 10+ I've had it almost 4 years and I'm getting my wife the flip 5. These will be our first fold phones 💪🏻😎
@@Anastassssssssssssss Samsung store pre orders and discounts on said items, 10% off first responder, $65 trade in on my watch 3. I was shocked and pleased when I added it all up to say the least.
Both completely over priced..... and come with very poor battery life, and poor quality camera's.... and still far to small, and you get a completely crap under display camera...
I like the form factor of the fold 5. Easier to hold one hand. Basically like a remote control. Wide enough to do some basic tasks and the software in it is miles ahead of the pixel. Looks more premium too with that minimal bezels
My fold 3 broke down after only about a year of use, I got the black screen of death after just a year so now I can't even use it if it's unfolded, the fingerprint also stopped working, and the charging port went out so now it only charges using wireless charging.. Makes me really skeptical about the fold 5 and really just Samsung in general..
Pre ordered the z fold 5, pixel fold doesnt fold completely flat and that really bothers me, aspect ratios for apps arent optimized as well on the pixel fold. Plus the samsung trade in deals and preorder bundles are great and make the z fold 5 an easy choice
I wanted the pixel fold till I seen it wasn't as capable as galaxy.. I'm a pixel and galaxy fan.. don't no why I had high hopes for Googles first foldable anyway lol
Ordered my zfold5 yesterday after having the flip3 for two years. I love my flip3, but I play games with my kids, and having a bigger screen for the multitasking mode will be great.
Wrong..the crease is less noticeable on z fold5 compared to the z fold4.. I put my hands on z fold 5 at my local Bestbuy yesterday and it is Lighter in weight and the screen gets brighter and the crease was DEFINITELY LESS NOTICEABLE, U can almost not see it or feel it... and could not see or tell the inner screen protector was there... this is compared to the z fold4.. I'm actually impressed about the crease being less noticeable..😮😁👍WOW.. the s pen and the case is also nice and light and flat/thin..
Great Video. As an all-time iPhone user, who has dreamed about foldable devices, I've finally made a choice. The hinge switch from > to - & the brightness did it for me. While the Pixel Fold is lovely, I prefer the ZFold5 for gaming, software, overall one-handed performance, and pocket fit. Can't wait to get mine on August 11th! (If only I had enough credit to buy directly from Samsung, RIP.)
@amirhaynes6016 This was bought for me as a gift. I miss iphone sometimes so I put my sim back in but within a day or two I'm back on fold. My main two gripes are 1] no matter what keyboard I install, nothing beats apples keyboard 2] it feels really heavy

Google really dropped the ball with the software, app optimization and customization. Samsung is still lightyears ahead of Google in terms of all the above when it comes to foldables. I actually really enjoy the form factor of the Fold. I'm just really shocked Samsung didnt at least slap the cameras from the S23+ on the Fold 5.
I wanted pixel so bad. The lack of pencil felt like a compromise i was willing to look by. Them not using samsungs screen record feature where you just tap a button to stop recording instead of having to pull the notibar was a slight annoyance. But what was the real deal breaker was apps not using the full size of the inner display. Not implementing scaling in your device to force devs to natively support your aspect ratio is ridiculous. Yes that will help customers who get the next pixel fold but current customers are basically beta testers. Too expensive for all that. Im sadly going the z fold 5. Was going to go with the oneplus fold until i see the green screen/line issue theyre dealing with right now
You do know that those apps that don't scale to landacape mode does scale to portrait mode if you turn the pixel ? The portrait mode scaling is supported which is the dimension of z fold. If you open up the pixel fold and turn it, you get your edge to edge apps scaled.
It's a consideration of "continuity" actually. Because of pixel fold's formfactor, the app need to change from portrait to landscape instead of just stretching like zfold. It's much more difficult to "force" on unsupported apps.
@hardyanjan121986 then id be hold the phone sideways. Its a big phone. Thats a flaw. Cant be giving then excuses. Because no matter how i used to turn my z fold 3, that screen was full
@MrRight0930 its not. Because that was once every app on samsung because no one in the industry took foldables seriously. Stop the excuses. Samsung made it happen as an experimental feature initially. Google can make it happen.
This is how I decided. Which screen am I going to use the most? Am I going to sit on the couch and use the front screen? In addition I work from home. So, I don't necessarily have to use the front screen as much. My second data point in my decision was can I type on the device that I prefer to have open and look at for a longer period of time? I found that I could type on both. So I picked the Samsung because it's got the better inner screen.....SPEN And DEX!
overall Samsung fail hard on this, charging 100 pound more then fold 4 for same specs only adding new hinge. Screen brightness 1750 could have easily been added to fold 4 but Samsung didn't do it. proof is in apple iPhone 14 having 1750 screen which is made by Samsung lol. I'm a fold 3 using I do use the fold. I'm looking at the new one plus open. specs looks good all better improvement to Samsung. Hopefully the software there. I know one plus has no bloatware to but hope / prays it optimize well .
In photo the Pixel Fold is better in my opinion, because of the zoom and especially the colorimetry close to reality, on the other hand in video, the Fold 4 is clearly better. I do not like the form factor of the Pixel Fold, let alone that of the Fold 4, Huawei with its Mate X3 has the almost perfect form factor. Ps: I'm just waiting for a Galaxy Fold with the form factor of Huawei Mate X3 / Honor Magic V2. Surely the Fold 6 🤞🏽
Samsung got it right on the cover screen, keeping it minimal, unlike other brands, giving a reason to unfold the phone and keeping the concept of a foldable design 👌
Just get a Z fold 3 for $600 and enjoy the savings. These newer phones are not worth $1,800. Not paying an additional $1,200 for no gap and micro-upgrades.
The Pixel Fold's speakers are setup so that they are stereo in any orientation. One top left, one bottom right. No matter how you hold it there's a speaker left and right.
There should 4 speakers, and 2 of them mute when folded. This way you're surrounded by sound without telling where exactly it's coming from. Most good tablets have 4 speakers for this.
Great video. Think I'm sticking with my Fold 4 for now. I did pre-order the 5 through my carrier but I end up paying basically the same amount on a plan that I am right now. It just doesn't make any sense. So I'll stick with what I've got and wait for either it to break or completely die before I think about getting a different phone.
Had a chance to compare the fold 5, pixel fold, and surface duo 2. Fold 5 wins generally and is much more pocketable and easier to handle when folded. The wider form factors when folded mean you end up with a wider phone, which somewhat defeats the purpose of a foldable phone.
Its weird how people complain about the fold being to narrow, im a big dude with large hands and love the fact i can use the phone with one hand no problem.
I really like the shape of the Pixel Fold better ..and I like vanilla Android. The AI features on the Samsung would be fun but I can't believe Google will be too far behind coming out with the same thing. I do love Samsung hardware though!
I know the initial specs of the camera are the same as the z fold 4, but I really hope they upgraded the camera module that they are using. If not, the Google pixels cameras are absolutely going to destroy this phone.
After testing the z-fold 5 out myself, I can say that the camera software has definitely had some improvements and taking pictures has significant less lag, but the photos really aren't that much of an improvement over the z-fold 4. The Google Pixel fold still takes consistently takes Better pictures.
I will NEVER buy a samsung fold again!!! My fold 3 (never dropped) main screen got a black line down the middle one monthe after warrenty expired (70% use was done on front screen). They didn't give a sh_t!!!
Might as well buy the Fold 4. They should have separated 5 from 4 by adding a 5000 ma battery . And added more speakers. Or a slot for the pen. Geez Samsung wakeup. As for the Pixel it has always been said NOT to buy the first edition.
Love your video's but this z flip 5 is completely shit.Just to think I swapped my motorola 40 ultra for this Big mistake. Cannot make calls from screen cover. No google wallet on cover screen.Bad wi fi reception. Just about to send it back and get motorola back
Hey I hope people see this and yourself sees this... I purchased the fold 4 loved it until it broke down the crease I have now been in a battle with Samsung for over 2 weeks. They won't repair it and sent me a bill of £538! Which is a lot to pay for something you didn't break the reason is that there's a small scratch on the side of the front screen. I have been told by people high up in Samsung that they agree with me that it's not my fault but due to terms and conditions I have to pay! Please don't by into these prototype folds I don't want anyone to go through this.
And the fact that Samsung fan boys defend the fart fold 5 screen is insane 😂😂😂 talking about some if you want a wider screen switch to a regular phone when you paying 1800 it should be doing both a phone in a tablet enough said
My fold 4 screen cracked on its own, samung wont replace it because there is a slight dent on my phone's body. I hate them for this, trading it at 800$ for fold 5.
Galaxy 5 Fold front screen is too small, the Pixel screen with the black bars and not getting the full screen when viewing videos etc is a write off..I'll wait until they improve these features.
Same, I got a z fold 2. And never looking back . At least not with Samsung with the same bs design or Google fold trash specs ..really hoping that one plus is looking like the specs say it is . Could be a beast but we'll see

many people say it is what it is , but it doesn't matter, for$1800 that crease needs to go away otherwise people should not support these lazy phone manufacturers in buying their products, zf5 its samsung's fifth gen at those phones and that visible crease still remains there
It took until this video to learn the Fold 5 has that variable refresh rate, and that the pixel doesn't actually unfold all the way??? Seems like an easy choice xD
Don't buy Z fold 5, wait for Honor magic V2 , I would not switch to fold 5, as a user of fold 3, now I prefer Honor magic V2, with wider cover display, for normal usage I do not need to open the inner display, for fold user for normal usage you always need to use the inner display because of the narrow cover display, another reason magic V2 is more slim

I was leaning more towards the Pixel Fold cause of the external wider screen but the Z Fold 5 is more polished and I can manage to live with its narrow front screen.
