I am always in awe of the crispy video quality & editing of your videos. On top of that, you have the most "static-free" reviews without all the diva nit-picking that is prevalent with 98% of top YT techies/tech reviewers. Thank you for all your effort and commitment!
I just switched from the Apple Watch 2 to the Gear S3. I liked the Apple but navigation was a pain for my big fingers. The Gear is much more intuitive and easier to read. The only negative about the Samsung is the sucky S-Voice and it's inability to open phone apps. Hopefully Samsung will upgrade with Google Assistant or Bixby (which is better than it's getting credit for)
I still think the Gear S3 is still the best on the market. Thanks for the follow up video. It's great to see people still supporting the watch as it approaches a year old!
Linus, So I know I got my used and it might not be the same, but mine takes much longer to charge. Today it was 2 and a half hours to charge it a little over 50%. The battery lasts pretty good though and is a million times better than my LG Watch Style so I am not complaining. Charging and overall battery life have not lived up to what I have seemed claimed. i am getting about a day and a half with the screen off and only really using timers and a few notifications. It also shocks me how poor the app market is. There is not one app that has multiple timers. The only app I could find is just widgets which still works, but not the all in one solution I was hoping for.
The Gear S3 is also the first smartwatch with a 64 bit processor. I'm getting 4+ days of battery life as I don't get very many notifications. If Samsung could figure out how to speed up S Voice it would be perfect for me.
I also regularly get 4days + on my battery and I use it for responding to messages, steps and calls all the time. my watch face is off until I need it. I'm just sad I couldn't get the LTE-enabled version in my country, nor do we have Samsung pay yet.
David Sears not me dude I just got it and I really like it but the battery is weird i left out over night without charging and it went down 20% without anyone using it. so even if it is just sitting down idle it's sucking up battery. maybe next time I'll just turn it off.
Jindorek I have the LTE version and it is good but now that I have it i wish I could have gotten the regular version and save some money because my phone is always on me.
I used to think Android Wear but Tizen has gotten much better and Android Wear 2.0 is a failure. I get 3 days plus battery life with my Gear S3 and the Tizen OS is buttery smooth. Go for the Gear S3.
I sold mine and got s2 classic. It's too big for small wrist also heavy. But very good watch with good battery life. I am waiting for s4 hopefully they come out with little lighter and slim version.
I'm thinking about upgrading my pebble time to something with bit more feature packed. Gear s3 is quite nice, but what put me off is the size, because I have quite slim wrist. great review anyway!
Thanks for your video! Have you heard of modality. It is a texting app for the Gear S3 that is a word based system rather than a letter based system to allow for fast and easy texting from the watch. Check it out. It made editor's pick for good reason, it truly makes it the watch that does everything.
Salam. i had a gear s3 classic, it's really awesome but it is so big and not made for those how dont have a large wrist. hope Samsung makes a version for small wrist🤔🤔
Hello sir, im from the phikippines and there is no LTE version here of the gear s3. I just want to ask you one thing about the version with wifi and BT. In wifi, in case you left you phone in your house and it was connected in your home wifi, and you have with you your s3 at your friends house with your s3 connected to your friends wifi. Will it still work that you can receive calls and mesafes and other notifications even if your phone and s3 is connected with different wifi? I hope you can answer my question. Thanks alot and more power to you sir.
Make an app to capture Pokemon on Pokemon Go on the Samsung Gear S3, then it's a must buy. Lesson: Apps sell, apps need great hardware. They are codependent.
hey great video :D just a question have you been able to connect to other wifi sources without having your phone around ? like for example if your phone dies and you only have your smart watch ? :)
hey thanks for your reply :D i was wondering if there was a way to connect to wifi even when the phone isnt around ive tried a few times but i cant seem to get to browser app open to accept the free Wi-Fi TnC is there another way around it ?
This watch is awesome. Got one last week. Really wish I could use Google as a voice assistant though. Really disappointed there's no Google maps or GPS Navigotar built in.
Hinds15 nope. There isn't really any type of navigation app which is very disappointing to me. Would be awesome to at least be able to look at my watch for simple directions instead of looking at my phone while driving.
***** maybe. I feel like Google simply doesn't want to support it though. I believe Apple Watch has had it since launch. We've had Samsung smart watches for nearly 4 years and Google hasn't even hinted at developing an app for smart watches. RIP.
Use gear browser.. Login to FB and use FB messenger on watch... Gives chat thread, reply, see photos, GIFs and video... Still get notifications as usual 😃
The Music feature is worth the $350 alone. It is so annoying going into my phone to change song, or going to select a specific song. Just tapping my watch would be so much better. I'll just get a small, easily portable bluetooth headset, and I'll be good to go. Two days is insane for a battery life. Then again, I've had my digital cell display watch for a few years. but I'm not even sure I use it every day. I'm saving for this, It's at the top of my priority list along with a Note 8, and a High quality bluetooth headset. Then on the list is the new PC component list I made a while back, the backlog of Games I've yet to buy, christmas is coming up, and halloween so I need to buy candy there, I'll have to start paying for gas when I get my dad's car when he gets a new one. maybe I should get a job somewhere.
I've owned the Gear S3 Frontier for over 2 weeks. So far as a usable tool it's falling short. Notifications are lacking. When I'm on a call, text messages don't come through so I can see who's texting me without having to pull the phone from my ear to check my phone. It's constantly locking itself when it shifts enough on my wrist so that it thinks I took it off. I have to enter a 4 digit PIN for the watch to function again. If I remove the 4 digit code I can't use Samsung Pay. I found that Android Wear worked better for a functional smart watch. However I didnt like Android Wear 2.0 as it's not polished and seems to have taken functionality away from the watch. I owned the LG Watch Sport for about 1 week before giving up on it. I just had higer expectations for the S3 Frontier with LTE. The screen is beautiful and bright and I love the spinning bezel but Tizen software is garbage. And with how poorly it's written there is a recent article about how vulnerable it is to being hacked. Along with the Samsung TV's running the same Tizen software. Tizen is just the bastard child of OS's. One of my biggest complaints is I don't use Samsung's native messaging app. Because I use Textra it's not compatible with viewing and replying to text messages. When I attempt to open and view it just goes back to the main watch face screen. I have to pick up my phone to view this message. Also if I turn on messages notifications from the Samsung messages app then I receive notifications sometimes but not all times. I've also been experiencing the watch not showing alerts unless I physically interact with the watch to pull up the notification manually. Also when I go out of.range of my phone with ATT number sync on it sends me all my recent messages that's I've already dismissed on my phone so I get sometimes 20 or so conservative alerts of these old messages. I'm just not satisfied with this watch and I'm surprised how many positive reviews I read or watch on RU-vid. The Moto 360 2nd gen is a much better watch but lacks a speaker for voice calls. That's why it falls short. The new Huawei watch 2 with LTE looks like it may be a better option. Maybe I'll look.into that one.
The world of the smart watches is not "baked" properly yet and I do not see a good reason to get into it in this stage unless you are doing lots of sports activities but then you don't need a very expensive item.
oren moyal I've been in the Smart watch game since 2013 with the 1st Gear watch by Samsung. Then I had the Gear 2. Then the Gear S. I didn't get the Gear S2. Reason I stopped with smart watches was the horrible battery life and the cumbersome chargers. Now with wireless charging and slightly better battery life it's getting better.
oren moyal Being able to reply to a text message without pulling my phone out and taking quick voice calls on my watch when my phone is in my pocket are my 2 favorite features of a smart watch. Those and Find My Phone feature when I lose my phone around the house. Also paying for items at the store with Samsung or Android Pay is very nice too.
I am not sure how much i like to type with my smartwatch but you are right,it can be nice to do if you have the patience for it. Unfortunately, the voice command doesn't support my language and also there is no LTE support also ,so i will have to carry my phone any way and pull it from my packet won't be a serious task :-)
Really on the border of getting this watch. I have a Samsung Galaxy core prime. Should I get it? Because I feel like it's about $100 too expensive for me. And also I am nervous that if I buy it and don't like it they won't let me return it.
Was expecting a review after 7 month of usage like how does the battery holds now, did the finish wear off, any issues etc., not another generic review.
i don't know if i should get the gear S3 or wait for the s4 that is coming out this year 2018. idk what to do? i have a note 8 and love it. the s3 is 2 years old not sure what to do .. any help
I was joking about the eye glasses, but I just watched another vvideo about new tech, and they actually have "smart eye glasses", not as many features, but they have music, and a camera, pretty cool also.
I bought it just for the coolness of looks and changeable watch faces.. I was looking to buy a new watch anyway as I was starting to get bored of my 7 year old Citizen eco-drive, so here is a watch where I can change faces and never get bored.. I figured why not.. all other features are a gravy for me..
The watch is great, UNLESS you want to use this for running or biking and expect good GPS. First and most importantly, it does not wait for GPS lock when you start an activity. What does this mean? It means the first minute to minute and a half it isn't recording distance. Also, if you are like me and stop during long bike rides, if you pause your activity it turns GPS off. So, when you start back up it again loses about a minutes worth of distance as it is searching for GPS... horrible Samsung. Otherwise the best smartwatch out there
Ronnie Kenny love the information, that was going to be the main reason for me to get this watch, bpm and tracking my morning runs. My g-shock g-lide works fine enough to check time lol
Great info. So useless as a sports watch then? If not, is the heart rate monitor accurate enough to use while riding your bike? I wonder whether I could sync it with my Wahoo elemnt. Would be far easier than putting on the tickr chest strap for commutes/short rides ....
It's just too bulky. I'll wait until something like this comes out that is as thin as a normal watch. We can't be that far off. Can't wait for more advanced battery tech
ik heb r ook 1 ,maar met mn nokia3 slimme telefoon maakt hij wel verbinding, maar die valt om de haverklap weg,dus is i niet compatibel, moeten ze wat aan doen bij samsung
4x screen bigger, a huge part rectangle and a part round wirh their wheel and with a real nano SIM card to be able to use it in Asia as well and military grade ip7 50m deep in saltwater and huge 360 degrees camera with android... that will be the future of mobile phones with a huge battery and charge with our body heat (optional). If Samsung wants a new market and big fight against the Google market : Samsung can develop such market and will win on that new market with their OS. but as they have too bad developers they will never have the idea to develop that new market.
TechLineHD I loved it especially when you did its review and found it pleasant to use. It's size puts me off maybe the LG style would be good. I will wait for your review.
