+TheJangun mine needs the phone all the time because it's the Bluetooth version. There is an actual map you can see your position on the gear if not navigating.

This is a major flaw with Samsung...they really hate their users and prefer to keep them in their own walled garden rather than allow something as basic as a complete data export. However, there are somewhat complicated workarounds that will let you get the data from S Health. +Siddharth Yadav I don't have the LTE version but I know you can still pair a 4g watch to the phone and if someone calls your phone the call goes to both the watch and the phone. The watch can be connected through wifi as well. When i had a gear s i could also remotely divert calls from the phone to the watch through 4g. You should be able to disable data like you do on the phone or, use the airplane mode which the Bluetooth version also has. I am still testing battery life and will update in the next day or so.

I use it as a stand alone more than anything. I haven't fully figured out it's connectivity consistency. It can connect via data instead of Bluetooth for notifications which works well. But when connected to Bluetooth it randomly disconnects and you feel your wrist vibrate. Next thing you know, it's on standalone mode. I'm only on day 3 myself. But the second phone on my wrist is WELL WORTH IT. If my honor 8 is dying come 5 pm, I just forward calls to my wrist. You can send recordings of your voice as mms from the texting app as well as type and the T9 predictive mode is pretty accurate and even speedy. I think it just depends on what you want it for, really. With a Samsung, I bet this thing is amazing for everyone but with my honor 8, that I LOVE mind you, it's an awesome second phone. It's a second phone without having to "carry" a second phone. Very easy to navigate, too. Definitely has room for improvement but so far, so good. Oh, and it charges pretty damn fast, too.

great info. I've just become used to everything android/google ecosystem and would hate to lose capability of gmail, drive, docs, etc. but android keeps dragging their feet (knuckles!) on Android Wear 2.0, and I'm tired of waiting. And this phone is gorgeous--I've had it in my hands at the shop here in Korea. My wife is gonna buy it for my 50th next week if I just give the word...

+ALex Lee you either have to get an LTE version and you will achieve this, or get a bluetooth version that can access WiFi while you are jogging. So the clear choice is to get the LTE version.

I'm currently using the 4G S3 [AT&T] with a non-Samsung Android phone [LG G5]. I am able to take calls, text, weather, etc. The ONE thing that does not work is Email, and this is confirmed on the Samsung website. *No email on the watch for use with non-Samsung Android phones.* So far, everything else seems fine.

Great help added my dates to phone and they are now in my schedule, another thing i cant get is just when i got tbe watch i accidently blocked my wifes msgs and couldnt unblock her had to delete her contact and put diff name and do u know anythi g about enabling motion i swiped up and got it and have never been able to get it again

+Deegibhoy 7 not sure but you may have blocked notifications from her. There is an option to unblock apps in the gear app on the phone, under apps. Check if messages is not enabled for notification. Do you mean wake up gesture? It's in settings, device.

+Luigi Spampinato i have tge Bluetooth version and yes you get notifications for both if synced to the phone. No app required on the watch. GPS is quick to connect and good in my tests.
