*120 Hz is more than enough. 144 Hz is luxury. Anyone who complains about not getting 165 Hz or more is spoiled.* *I care more about color accuracy and the beauty of the screen and software the monitor provides. I got a 1440p 32" BenQ 32GW series monitor today. 75 Hz. Why? Because I play at 1440p MAX settings with only 2x antialiasing, and I normally can't hold 75 fps at those settings.* *I'd get a 4090 but why? What is the point? It will be obsolete in 4 months.*
I actually really like this monitor. (Big and beautiful) I personally run it at 144 hrz with HDR enabled. Pricing for this Samsung G5 is almost been slashed in half since your review. No regrets in my purchase with this display. Thanks SoulOfTech for the review and thoughts.
I think there is just a lack of monitor quality control in the industry unfortunately. I’ve bought several monitors that had any number of issues over the years from different brands.
Hi this has a curved version and it's 144 hz and this is 165 hz and has 300 nits brightness which is better than curved version, so in conclusion flat version has better picture quality?
Nits are brightness levels. You should NEVER have to max out your brightness. So, fon't worry TOO much about brightness. Curved is for people who want to feel like the monitor or TV is wrapping around them. It truly isn't a better quality or image. It just feels a little different when playing. Flat and curved would both be phenomenal displays. It is just up to you. 😉
hey. what about the contrast? i think i missed it in the video if it was there. cause i hate ips blacks and i dont know what is a ips wva? its really hard to chose between this one and G3 27inches (its a lot cheaper and people say that the new series is improved)
I have this monitor. It randomly flashes black horizontal line anywhere on the right side of the monitor. I tried tweaking the monitors, tried different cables, tried connecting different devices to it but still it does the same problem.
I get exactly the same issue but my horizontal lines are on the right, around a quarter of the screen. I sometimes get the green screen of death also but its intermittent

Hey, I want a monitor for productivity (mainly software development) and I game casually too, do you think thats a good monitor for this? I would connect it to my macbook air or my ps5 to game
you get what you paid for with this one. VA panels look pretty, and the only way to eliminate ghosting/black smearing is to get a g6 and above, since the panels on those ones are better. (And I've heard even those have issues. it's just how VA panels are.) I did buy this monitor though, as I definitely dont have $600+ to spend on a higher quality VA panel. $300 for a decent 1440p high refresh rate monitor with nice contrast is a good buy. I do gaming, like helldivers 2, and I dont notice the ghosting too much except in more calm scenes where I am not paying attention to much. I have the 32" curved 165hz one (which does have dp 1.4). Apparently, this display was refreshed sometime in 2022, so perhaps the design was ironed out in some shape or form (although I do doubt it, since its still a lower refresh rate panel). In practical use cases, the general user really will not care too much about ghosting and black smearing unless it is especially abhorrent. I just want a pretty picture with deep blacks and good contrast, so if you want a pretty picture on a budget, here you go, this is a nice monitor. I went from a 144hz IPS monitor to this and I am fine with it. If youre looking to be competitive in games though, get an IPS panel as those are usually more reliable across the board. Otherwise, I think the g7+ will be the best idea if you really need that contrast and have money to spend.
I more or less agree with your whole argument here. The monitor is a great value proposition at its price. Though a cheaper price tag does not mean a credible brand like Samsung can add incorrect/misleading details on product specs.
do you have the VA panel one or the IPS panel samsung? they both look the same (unless your playing a game thats in a dark scene) the one in the video is an ips and in theory should have such little ghosting you dont notice ever really. id think atleast a good ips would anyway

does any body know wheather the g5 oddesey 32 curved is an alright screen as i boughht a titan 144hetz monitor from CASH CONVERTERS , and it has white wash as i notice it only on 16.9(not fuill screen movies eg), and they also have a g5 curved just as the 31.5 inch titan i bought, as im clueless, THANKS IN ADVANCE `
Can it be mounted? There’s so many variations of this monitor (including a Canadian version that’s got a flat base can the long chicken toes in this one shown). The listing doesn’t say if it is or not but Amazon recommends 2 mounting arms and 1 of the 2 isn’t even for 32”, so I don’t fully trust it. Same with the “frequently bought together”
thanks for the video this monitor not only have that secret with 165hz i was looking in setting and i turn off the HDR and i when in Picture mode i found Dynamic Contrast dont know why but it work like Local Dimming for me can someone tell why cuz i try the one with HDR the Dynamic one and dont work like that
No split screen and dual input. The business work monitor also looks better for gaming. Go figure. I paid $250 and still feel undersold, since I have 6 other versions of the work model that run HDR much cleaner. Sad

This is the Ips version right? I don't think you are correct when you said that there is exact curved version of this monitor. The curved version us 144hz va panel
There're a lot of variants of this monitor. There're IPS flat 144hz, IPS flat 165hz, VA 165hz flat, VA 144hz curved, VA 165hz curved, etc. There's a lot more. The one featured in this video is the G51C which is a 165hz flat VA monitor.
@@jadmurr7883 thanks for the reply! After doing reading up on the 34 G55T, the reviews turned me away haha! Its between this or the G65B 32 in. I think height adjustability is playing a big role for me since I will be using the stand and not desk or wall VESA mount. In your opinion, is the 32 in sufficient for a mix of gaming and productivity compared to the 34? I use a LG 34 UW right now but I am going to use that to replace the office monitor. Thanks again!
How is the contrast ratio and color accuracy for the 32'' flat IPS model? I can get this monitor for 380$ which seems too be good to be true so I assume that it either has really bad contrast ratio and/or color accuracy.
Don’t get it for 380 dollars it’s not worth it you will find the odyssey g6 curve for cheaper and better, there’s a 27inch flat ips model g5 going for 200 dollars rn

Hey so I use this monitor for my xbox series s and the cable that comes with it it does not fit with any of the xbox ports of hdmi port and I do no know what to do so will it be any different to the one im using a normal hdmi cable =?
The review itself is great but you messed up big with the specs. If you're reviewing the monitor which you put into the description it's a 165hz flat VA. At the end of the video you said it's an ips monitor, so what happend? You also mentioned it has display port 1.2 which is not true, the G51C has the 1.4 version. One other thing I noticed is that you said it jas 300nits brightness which is not right again, samsung claims it has 240nits. Please be careful with what informations you're using and saying because you can make people really confused with it.

The specification I have mentioned are in fact accurate for both the Canadian and (Some) US versions. While Samsung's US store is no longer selling the version of the G51C I reviewed here it is very much still sold across all 3rd party retailers and in other regions. I see your mistake better now. I belive you that you said the specs right in the video BUT the problem is that the links in the description are for different models of the Odyssey G5. A few didn't open for me for somereason, but the canadian samsung store gets the monitor right, but the others (which I could open) don't. Please update the links, otherwise it's a great review
im gonna sell this monitor basically brand new. I bought it in april last year and I haven't really done anything to it. If I clean it its brand new and its getting sold for 350 but im gonna sell it for 250 pounds to upgrade to a 4k 144hz 43 inch monitor as I have a friend that has it and its amazing so im going to upgrade to that. I never really like it as the hdr is bad the pixels are very very obvious and i just hate the stand and va panel im trying to upgrade to an ips big panel with better hdr and overall visuals
Would advise against buying any Samsung monitor, the screen glue and fails and the panel starts falling out. In talks with Samsung customer service ATM and I quote "it's a common fault"
Unless I am missing something that should be physically impossible, so I'd like to confirm the following: You are set at 1440p resolution You have 10bit HDR enabled You have G-Sync/Free Sync enabled Your RR is set at 165hz with all the settings above on DP 1.2? I suspect either one or more of the settings are disabled or you have a different model (this is the G51C)
