Hi Jonah! I bought this soundbar and Optoma UHD51 projector. I tried to connect it together in many ways but it didn't work, soundbar is silent. I plugged Chromecast to soundbar eARC, then soundbar hdmi to projector hdmi. Then I tried Chromecast to projector but still doesn't work :/. Please help me, it was expensive setup, I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(
Greatest sound bar I’ve ever purchased even gives my media room a run for its money!!! This is a huge step up from tv audio and will definitely improve day to day tv watching!
Just got the Samsung Q 950A. If you're on the fence about a sound bar and you trust the word of a professional trumpet player, THIS is the one to get! I have the Q950T and it is great. BUT this one, like Jonah says, is AMAZING!
Got mine 2 months ago and it's worth every penny, the bass is deep and sounds almost as good as my 12" .I don't even go past volume at 23 as it is extremely loud. Great buy if you get get it at 1k or less.
@@kidpoker9408 absolutely ,these are retailing for $1,800.00 at best buy now. Anything else close in quality will cost you more. Not a typical cheap system you buy at Walmart. I did see the price at $1,200 a few months back but I guess the supply is short and looks like they went up in value.
I bought mine about 2 months ago. Maybe you can help me out? I bought the soundbar and subwoofer. I really want to get the surround speakers, but the reviews online aren’t that good… what do you think of the surround speakers?
The cheapest ive seen is $1,600 at Best buy...$200 off from the $1800. Who the hell finds one for $1,000 or $1,200 sounds like total BS a a floor model. Even $1,800 is cheap for what you get vs the competition.
I had the 950t and thankfully I was still in my return period. Best Buy had the 950a on sale so it was 100 cheaper and I even got a 300 gift card for a promotion. This is by far a better bar than the t in my opinion! No issues either with speakers cutting out so far! Thanks for all the great reviews!
After watching the review, I finally bought it on 8/8 sales at about US$850… I’m totally impressed! The subwoofer is shaking my ceiling! Great for movies. Going to buy the NVidia Shield TV for full Dolby Atmos experience.
Hi Chong. Can you give me some advice please I have the sound mode on the TV set for STANDARD. Sound output AV SOUNDBAR Q950 HDMI e-ARC. Nass boost OFF. When watching a 5.1 movie, sound does not come from the rear speakers. No sound at all. I was told STANDARD is supposed to play whatever you are watching in it's native form, in this case 5.1, but I get no sound. The only time I get sound from the rear speakers is when SURROUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE is selected in SOUND OUTPUT. Is that your experience? I have no idea what sound output I should be choosing day in day out. I would appreciate your feedback.
I have the NVidia Shield but don't use it anymore since I have the 950A AND the Samsung 2021 QN 90A tv. What would using the NVidia Shield do for the overall sound?
@@chappelli7035 surround is the best mode. If you choose standard your restricting a lot of speakers not to work as a 5.1 setup is only 5 speakers plus subwoofer. Maybe it only uses 5 speakers on the sound bar and skips rear speakers. I have the q950a and I hear rear speakers on 5.1 in standard mode, but it sounds much better when I choose surround mode while in 5.1. The q950a has more speakers than what Atmos uses on home setups, so Samsung did this on purpose w a bunch of very talented workers for they wanted you to use the extra speakers.
bought the HW-Q950a last Friday, paid less than 1599 + go a 300 promotional gift card!!!! got it home hooked it and was blown away with the sound, nice review
@@chappelli7035 I don't believe so. I know for a fact that it comes with wall mounting brackets for the soundbar itself. But didn't see any for the surround speakers.
I just installed this system and had zero issues with it. After reading several tech reviews bashing it and watching several video reviews doing the same I was so worried I almost shipped it back without opening the box. I did splurge on short Monster HDMI cables as it seems that many people where having problems that later turned out to be cable issues. Everything worked as advertised… the base is more than enough… it really does sound amazing.
hi just picked this up for 1200 US around 1480 Canadian....very happy with the deal i got....can't wait to pick it up..will go great with my new 85 inch samsung Q90 TV.....cheers all from Canada
thanks for the great review! i was planning to get arc setup with sub and 2 ones but then i saw this review, i completely changed my mind. one of the reason is q950a cost 1100 USD while arc cost more than double which is 2600 USD from my local store.
I totally agree. The Arc is better if you're wanting to get into multi-room audio and build up your setup but if it's for a stand alone room and you don't care about that then save the money and get the Samsung.
@@toms8393 I've put together a comparison video between these two bars if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ClqPzb7ynFI.html
Samsung q90a is $1700??? For the whole system. I think you guys are just talking about the stand alone soundbar? Sonos arcs soundbar is $900 and whole system is $2089?? Samsung soundbar alone is the $1000 not the whole system???
I DID get the new Samsung qn90a Neo QLED 55 inch tv to pair with my q950a sound bar. Too curious about Q Symphony and if it made a difference in the sound. Well I'm here to tell you it's absolutely amazing! The 950a sounds great on it's own but with Q Symphony on...Geeze Louise, it's a world of difference! Unbelievable sound!
But when you connect the media player to tv instead of the bar it doesnt allow you to use all settings like the surround mode which allows use of all 14 speakers. I and many others have noted that you only get 2 options to choose in sound modes. I think it was standard and game mode only. Your supposed to get 4 or 5 modes w surround mode being the best as standard mode doesnt use all 14 speakers. Yes you get q symphony but a far weaker sound exp. Try it out, plug media player directly into the bar but it disallows q symphony. I have this and a q90a and i dont get q symphony when i plug in bar from xbox but i get it when i plug xbox into tv but the bar doesntl allow full use of all settings like i mentioned and causes weaker sound but tv speakers added to it. Im not alone in this I think many people dont realize you are supposed to plug directly into the sound bar from media player, so you actually are not getting the full amazing sound right now. Try it
@@DsLmaNiaC I live in an apartment and was going to go with full blown atmos modular system, but this seems like a no brainier. Only thing I’m slightly worried about is what 5.1 music audio will sound like. I have a lot of 5.1 music discs
@@TheTaulusPaulus I got a q90r on my living room and a q900t in my bedroom. They both sound great for most purposes although they do not beat in music reproduction the Klipsch 5.1 paired to a tube amplifier I got back from 1998. That said I replaced that setup with the q90r and It is awesome. OK there is a difference in music reproduction but they use so much more space, they need the cables, they draw much more power and I am not that type of user that is listening to music all day. I am watching movies or TV or play on ps5 or Xbox series x and believe me, in this type of contents the soundbar is just awesome. It can get extremely loud without any distortion, the Dolby atmos or surround sound content blows you away and the bass is pretty good and punchy with perfect control for an 8 inch unit. If you need better bass I do think you can pair the swa700 or smthing like that with the soundbar and really have an even stronger and more controlled bass coming from a truly better subwoofer than the one included with the soundbar. Now if you can afford the space, the time and the money to build a system with a Denon 2700ah for example or a Sony str1080 it will sound better but it requires more money, more cables and more space than the soundbar. I did not want to get into any kind of such trouble so I got the Q90R at 699 on a sale and I am doing just PERFECTLY. So I imagine the q905a with those special surround speakers will be much better than what I have in terms of surround sound reproduction and positioning.
I've had this for 3 weeks now, got it at USD 950 in my country. Buy it guys without hesitation, this will blow you away. With music listening, set the Sound mode to standard and you have access to 7 band EQ which is enough for most users. What I don't like 1)No full adjustment inside the Smart Things app, Samsung should update this in the future 2) No Google Chromecast support yet Airplay 2 is supported. What a bummer. So I have to cast to the Android TV via HDMI arc to the Soundbar.
@@novousuarionaoidentificado Music listening is satisfying, loud enough to be heard over the whole house 1300sqft, fidelity is good as well. I use Apple Music exclusively
I just purchased one new for $450! Can't believe the luck. Yes, it's a bit outdated now but I couldn't hear much of a difference between this and the newer models, wich is FAR more expensive. Very happy with this system!
I've been looking at this sound system and the sonos arc sound system ( 1 sub and 2 one sl speakers). Currently the samsung q950a is at $1039 on ebay brand new and 1297 on B & h photo. Sonos Arc is around $2050 for everything. It looks like a nice buy for the samsung at its price point
Bought it sale for 1400$ also bought a neo qled because of it for qsymphony, don’t notice too much of a difference but the system is incredible!! Only thing is the display being on top is useless and it would be perfect if I could add another subwoofer but regardless, definitely one of the best !!
Love how your cat absolutely trolled you after complaining about them being attracted to it by hopping on your entertainment system and shedding more fur all over it 🤣 Sorry, just couldn’t help laughing! Great review tho and I may end up getting this since I’ve seen it discounted for a pretty large amount.
Hi I have a lg cx 77 tv and I am going to buy a soundboard and I am wondering if I should buy lg's soundboards either SN11RG or SN11RA. Or will Samsung's new q950a work just as well? What would you recommend?
@@SoraxCloud22 lol “do some research” bro I OWNED a Sonos Arc system. It’s atmos quality doesn’t compare whatsoever to a Q950A or even a Q90R for that matter.
Thanks for the review. I just recently bought a Sonos Arc and sub. Do you think I should return it and buy Q950A? I have a pretty high flat ceiling in my house (almost 10 feet). Thanks
Hmm, that’s hard to say. There’s definitely some more personal issues I have with this system that probably don’t apply to everyone (cloth). I love the Sonos Arc system, it’s what I’ll continue to use until something else comes along that I love more. Sonos is nice because you can continue to build and shift components to other rooms. Can also build a whole home audio solution. All of which you can’t do with the Q950A.
No DTS for a Sonos Arc. in France, VF tracks with Atmos are still too rare. I buy a Q950A, even if the sonos was my preference before seeing this detail
Jonah mate, the Q900a is going for 500 quid whilst the 800a is going for £350 (Sammy is offering cashback on both) . Which one would you go for mate, help?????? Cheers mate!
Yep My thoughts exactly. My 9.2.4 is fantastic but Nakamichi needs new design to improve the front soundstage. There is no tweeter in the LCR. Only in the "side effects" speakers which are outside your seating(listening) area. So some clarity and details have low presence. The subs and surrounds is where the Nak shines.
@@edg9697 I’ll upgrade as soon as Nakimachi has a better sound bar system. Just watched Godzilla vs King Kong and wow! Waiting for wireless rears to on the next system.
@@flow685 I'm good with the subs to surrounds wired connection cause running wires thru stands to under carpet. Power cords i consider still wired because would be exposed in my set up. I was able to listen to the 950a and the sound from the bar alone, the Nak can't touch. But the 950a sub doesn't even compare to the Nak, plus the 4 surrounds. Bought zilla vs kong on 4k physical and can't wait to watch. Was disappointed in HBOMax stream of it audio wise.
Yeah... it's undeniable that Samsung soundbar performs is top notch. I even use it with my LG C2. May upgrade my living room TV to a S95 to get Q Symphony living room epicness!
Hello, I finally got my Q950a set up with my Samsung QN85a! When I go to Netflix and play A Dolby Atmos movie I don’t see Dolby Atmos on the LCD screen. Does that mean Atmos is not working? There is surroundsound and all speaker are working but not sure if atoms is. It just say eARC
1.If the TV has ARC and the soundbar has eARC then does the Dolby atmos option works? 2.Does dtsX option uses top firing speakers? 3.If we play 5.1 channel movies, does the soundbar uses top firing speakers?
My TV is mounted to a SANUS wall mount with a full-motion arm (I believe you had the same one in your soundbar mounting video). I want this soundbar but am not sure whether I should wall mount it by attaching it to the SANUS mount using the Mounting Dream bracket you used in your video, or weather I should just mount it directly to the wall. What do you recommend? My concern is that the Mounting Dream mount could interfere with the upfiring Dolby Atmos speakers. I presume that if I hang it 2 inches below the TV (what Samsung recommends), it should should be fine, but will it look weird if the brackets are exposed?
Why you cut the cat jump at 12:30 ? :) put it at the end of the video like "Director's cAt" :) Thank you for your review. I agree with you on all things you said. BTW, I have just bought (1 week) this system in Italy for 980 dollars: a great deal in my opinion. Do you have any suggestion for a best setup? are you going to make a video for it?
have they addressed the issue of not being able to adjust the individual channels levels in the smartthings app since this video?...Did they fix that yet thur an update of the app?
I just watched your review of the 950T and later find out there is a newer version the 950A. I hoped you did a video on this one too and I was lucky. Good job man 👍🏼
Next year its 20 channels, 30 channels in two years lol. Throwback to the “watts” race of 10 years ago. To comment on qsymphony, had the q950t and 950t bar with QS. The bar did well but the tv speakers were so bad in comparison that it was distracting. When objects pan from the bar to the tv it sounds completely different and starts distorting. I can’t recommend using it with anything lower than the flagship model. Those speakers are not great but anything below is garbage, especially if they are downfiring only like q80a or below
Some advice would be very much appreciated. I have sound mode set to STANDARD. Sound output [AV]SOUNDBAR Q950A. Bass boost OFF. When watching a 5.1 movie, there is no sound from the rear speakers. I thought STANDARD was used to play back whatever you are watching in it's native format, in this instance a 5.1 movie. The rear speakers do work for me when in SOUND MODE I select surround, game, or adaptive. Is this correct? Is that normal? Or am I doing something wrong? Am I misunderstanding STANDARD? Thank you to anyone in advance.
none of these soundbars come even close to the real thing wired system ihave bothth systems no comparision am using top of the range sonos arce and jbl no way the compare
Bass important to me. It’s what completes a sound system and gets you immersed in the film. I hated the inconsistency with the 950t, and now you say the 950a is the same issue. I went sonos route - the bass and sound profile is nice.
I didn't experience any throughout my entire time of testing. Should've mentioned that in the video, but soundbars are getting so good with their wireless connections to subwoofers and surround speakers, that it's very rare that I ever encounter issues with wireless drop outs.
Hi, I really enjoy your channel. I recently bought the Q900a model which appears to be the same soundbar as the Q950a however it doesnt have the wide firing channel on the rears.. Would it be worth returning and paying the extra to get the added wide channel on the rears of the Q950a?
This sound bar is eArc, but it will always reduce to the weakest link in the chain, so in your situation it will be limited to Arc protocols. However; whatever is directly plugged into the sound bar will automatically engage in the full suite of protocols no matter what the TV has.
Great content Jonah I have had mine for about 3 weeks and love it. Have an older Samsung tv also so my question is how do I guarantee the best sound quality??? Should I buy an Apple TV and stream everything through that what do you suggest thank you again
@@jbanks27 Get the Apple TV 4K its a solid product and if you have an iPhone don't use the iPhone to copy wifi passwords and other settings like I did to the Apple TV that brought my Apple TV to a crawl and when I reset it and entered everything manually it was very fast ie: downloading apps, opening/closing apps etc.
I need to warn you, I have the Q950A and the newest Apple TV but when connected through one of the HDMI inputs on the soundbar the video and audio are out of synch when playing Dolby Vision content. It's unwatchable and I really hope it can be fixed with a firmware update.
Thanks 🙏 so much for this review, will you be reviewing the new 2021 LG SP11RA soundbar when it’s available? I’m interested to see if they’ve fixed any of the issues you had with it last year
Great question! I absolutely will be reviewing the LG SP11RA! Will do my best to review the newest soundbars being released within a month or so of them being out.

Holy crap, I didn’t think I’d find anyone with the cat claw issue on the cloth wrapping. Our sound bar is covered in cat hair and although mounted, I caught a cat on the sound bar the other day scratching.
I bought the Samsung 990B soundbar because of the good reviews. This is my first surround soundbar but the surround is stunning and very balanced. Beautiful bass, clear voices and sparkling background sounds. I do have the impression that the soundbar should be used with a (recent) Samsung TV. I am thinking, for example, of some extra functionalities (Wifi, QSymphony) that come with the Soundbar. The supplied manuals are rather concise, it is better to consult the online manuals for a detailed explanation. It is not suitable for use with my TV (Sony Bravia KDL 42WXXXX ). I run into too many latency issues with the sound for that. As long as everything runs via the ARC-eARC HDMI cable, everything seems to run nicely synchronously. Every time I try to play with my Telenet digicorder via the HDMI port (in) of the TV or the soundbar, sync problems arise with the sound. Especially when fast forwarding Telenet recordings or skipping from watching TV to recordings. The problem can then only be solved by deactivating/reactivating HDMI ports.
Jonah, A few months ago I bought the Samsung Q950A and the Sony A8H OLED TV. Of course I'm running HDMI from eARc TV to eARC sound bar. NOW, here's my question...I could've sworn through the little display on the sound bar it said TV eARc. Now I only see TV ARC. The Sony input does say ARC/eARC. Was it my imagination or am I only getting ARC? By the way, the TV looks amazing and the sound bar is as you said it was!
First time switching from soundbar from my old sony $300 5.1 sound system. Really impressed me in terms of bass, subwoofer, surround and height sound, but cannot impress me in terms of treble. For me, the sound of gunshot, thunder and shattering glasses sounded a little bit mumbled and not crisp enough. AND for me, this soundbar sometimes randomly turned off by itself after around 2-3 hours operating (it's like in eco mode where turned off by itself, but I cannot find any menu to adjust this setting).
I own a Samsung TV 2020, Samsung Galaxy 21+ Ultra so it would make sense to get this system until you said music doesn't sound so good on it. You see for me music is everything. So I was pretty bummed to hear this. I'm still thinking whether to get this or Sonos. Money wise I would go for this but I also know with Sonos you can built to it yet it will cost much more. WHAT TO DO? lol
