Thanks very much to Abby and the Rtings Team for this wonderful review. Could you please tell me if Rtings will be reviewing the Samsung QN900D? This seems like a unique tv to review as it appears (based on the specifications) to be the first 4K 240Hz TV. It is also interesting how it doesn’t seem to be catching the attention of gamers (also acknowledging the high price), perhaps because it is mainly advertised as an 8K TV. As a PC gamer and racing sim enthusiast I would be very interested to see a review of the Samsung QN900D.

Hey, again ^^ what would you guys recommend for a two monitor setup for gaming and watching content/streaming/recording? Used to have an oled ultrawide but sold it as the aspect ratio makes streaming or video creating difficult.. would two 27 inch oleds be an awful idea due to burn in risks?

Do the 43 and 50 inches of qn90D series, have different panel than the bigger displays of qn90D - without antireflection coating and worse viewing angle (like last years qn90c)?

Would it be possible to do a video (assuming its video worth) of why some monitors will give support for higher res + higher framrate but not a lower res. In that case its 1440p@144 it can't do but it can do 4K@144, which is more bandwidth. My CF791 can do 1440p@100, but can't do 1080p@100 and instead needs to drop to 1080p@60 🤷‍♂

I found that my Samsung winds up with oversaturated colors if I last turned it off in 4k UHD mode (watching 4k movies). If I return the tv back to a non-4k viewing mode (my Xbox) before turning it off, the color saturation switches modes and I don't have a problem the next time I turn it on.

Heads up, your site likely has inaccurate key information on this model. “The QN90D series uses 4K IPS-ADS panels for the 85", 75", 65", and 55" models, and VA panels for the 98", 50, and 43" models.” Directly from Samsung. Your site states the qn90d 65” is a VA panel.

We bought and tested the 65" model, and validated our results to ensure accuracy. We can confirm that the unit we purchased is indeed a 65" model, though we can't speak for possible regional differences or anything like that. We have seen manufacturers provide incorrect info about panel types in the past though, which is unfortunate.

@@syncwork I wound up buying a refurbished Galaxy S10e from A'zon specifically to calibrate the tv. It was pretty cheap actually. I'll try and post my settings, but not sure if YT will delete it or not... I usually have troubles with big comments, especially if more than 1 paragraph. The app calibrated SDR to 150 nits, but I found it to be a bit dim, so I upped it to 200 nits. I read you can go p to 300 nits on SDR, but even at 250 nits, it was starting to show blooming. 200 nits is the sweet spot for me. @@syncwork Let's try the SDR again. BTW, I should have mentioned both SDR and HDR were calibrated for 'Movie', and SDR was set to 200 nits. The app defaults to 150 nits, but it was a little dim for me still, even though I watch in the dark. You can go up to 300 its on SDR, but even at 250 nits, I had blooming. 200 was the sweet spot for me. Also, just note that although these are the settings for 'my' tv, your screen may be different. Best to invest in a cheap refurbished phone and tripod. They're cheaper than an actual calibration tool, and it doesn't need software. I have the 43 inch and the Peak Brightness setting is missing. When I compare it to my 1000 nits OLED phone, the phone feels brighter. Also, HDR calibration tools report 1450 nits with Game HDR disabled. With Game HDR enabled it's around 1000 nits. I think that some models have capped peak brightness, which is disappointing because the reason I bought it is the reported 2k nits.
@manriprinze5187
@manriprinze5187 6 дней назад
Hello friend, I hope you are well, I am interested in that same inch and I would like to ask a few things. Well historically the 43" and 50" models are always less bright than their larger brothers, plus the game mode is also generally less bright in general so 1500 nits is the usual for those inches. My question is, what console and what content did you use to measure those 1400 and 1000nits respectively? Did you try using the HDR Tone Mapping setting set to 'On' or 'Game HDR Advanced' on? to have brighter results? I have a 55" QN90B and in standard Game HDR, since it does not have an advanced option, it gets quite dark, but it improves by raising the ST.2084 parameter to +3. Could you try this too to see how the brightness is? I'm between This TV and the LG C4, but the latter is even less bright in HDR gaming, and I imagine that in bright games like Forza Horizon in desert or snow stages the C4 will lower the brightness even further considerably due to the aggressive APL and for that reason I think the QN90D is the best option in 43". Please tell me your experience in terms of brightness and contrast, if you enjoy the television for gaming and if you recommend it over other 43" televisions. And if the configurations that I told you improve the experience. Thank you very much my friend ☺️

@@manriprinze5187 I measured with Windows HDR Calibration tool. With 'Game HDR Advanced/Basic' it peaks around 1000 nits, regardless of HDR Tone Mapping setting. With 'Game HDR Off' it peaks around 1500 nits without HDR Tone Mapping and around 2100 nits with HDR Tone Mapping. Raising the ST.2084 makes the overall content brighter but does not affect the specular highlights peak brightness. I found an article that measure the peak brightness of this 43" TV to be around 1300 nits, which seems to be close to what I think. I enjoy the TV a lot, because the contrast and the brightness are amazing. There's a bit ghosting/black smearing in some scenarios, but I got used to it and don't pay any attention.

Hello. Well, I don't know which country you are from... But here in Brazil the situation is terrible with Samsung TVs. We only have a 1 year warranty. And several people end up suffering from screen problems (Infinite Looping). The TV keeps turning on and off, with a total loss. It is a chronic defect. Durability is low. I would really like to know if this is worldwide? Is it happening where you live. Because I "suspect" that there could be lots of TVs with poor quality components coming to Brazil. We purchased the 65QN90C last year after watching many many reviews and videos etc. when I first got it, I was blown away.. now however, after 2 not so great updates, the lack of DTS and inherent blooming not to mention the black crushing and macro blocking. (All terms I did not know prior to last year lol) have me to the point that our next tv will NOT be a Samsung!! (After being die hard Samsung tv buyers) I wanted the QSymphony feature soo badly so we got the Q990C to go with it! I do love the soundbar, but I’d do anything to trade the 65Q90C for a 75/85” Bravia 7/9 or even the 75/85” QM8! (Also have the 2023 Qm7 tcl.). I think Samsung really blew it with their Q85/90 models for 2024! I believe our Q90C is an Ads panel which I do like better than the VA version. 🎉

Haha, the wobble here is a little bit overemphasized as it was on our lazy susan-esque table that allows us to turn the TV easier!

3:54 "better than 14% of tested TVs". Wow, how can a 2024 TV be that bad? 😲😲😲

QN90C is NOT IPS. Its ADS-PRO. D OLED has QD-OLED n WOLED. The ADS-PRO is NOT ADS/ or IPS. 😊😅 ADS PRO has--2X contrast ratio of ADS. It has Full Gloss screen. ADS-pro has 600hz screen refresh rate. N ADS- 144hz cap screen refresh rate. 180 degree visual . It looks identical to QD-OLED. I have SEEN QN90C n Hisense U8K 75” in person. Once u have seen ADS-PRO u will think VA is half tier down. Its that crazy . Its too new , being thrown around as IPS. Totally under appreciated. 😊😅 Its absolutely premium. The can NOT do ADS-PRO this year because they are SUEing the company BOE that produce that ADS-PRO screen for copy right. So ONLY Hisense can use it now for U9N , UX. 😊

If only they would get rid of the ads for such an expansive TV. And the spying. And Tizen OS. I was really close on getting one.

As a long time LG OLED user. I actually prefer Tizen in 2024 on my s95d. Easier menus, don’t need to login to an account, and faster response than LG

Just don't connect it to the internet and use a separate streaming device. Won't that fix those concerns (minus Tizen)?

@@EhNothing, I thought about a setting up Raspberry Pi 5 with Kodi, but would the video quality be as good for Netflix/RU-vid/Prime as when done on the TV itself?
